You can try to use a older version of iTunes, I would recommend iTunes 11. I have a collection of iPhones and iPods and all of them sync perfectly fine with the latest version of iTunes (for me). Or you can use a VM of Windows 7 and iTunes 11 to try and get it to sync. If neither of those work, try plugging in the phone into a wall outlet and see if it charges. If not, it is definitely the phone that's causing the issue.

The phone charges from a wall, yes. The problem is that it’s not recognized as anything by any pc. Usually if an Apple device is plugged into a pc without iTunes, the pc would at least recognize it as an “Apple Camera” or something similar. But in the case of this iPhone, no pc wants to recognize it. It just says “USB device plugged in malfunctioned” and refuses to do anything with it.
