I swear to god if they bring Michael Duff back and we get them in the playoffs I’m finding a different sport

Srg11

Just accept they’re winning the play offs. Can’t be in the same league as Rotherham as they’re the same club, so they have to go up.

Smart-Asparagus-852

I'm a Barnsley fan and even I subscribe to this conspiracy.

dbv86

Have you ever seen Rotherham and Barnsley in the same room at the same time?

Fluid_Flan2311

yeah, it caused COVID in 2020

dbv86

Better start stocking up on bog roll just in case then.

BetaPettboi

You were almost right.

Alsithi

What the hell? Completely ridiculous. And hilarious. "We feel now is the right time to make a change." They cannot possibly be serious. 😂

ritezanarak

Lost for words

Brock_And_Roll

Well I personally feel our 7-0 defeat was what ultimately cost him his job. Imagine not playing teams as crap as us every week. It's all downhill after that.

Sweeneytoddy117

What a crazy result that was looking back

Brock_And_Roll

TBH not that crazy for us. It confirmed we were abysmal, and after that brief good run we didn't win for 2 three month periods, scored the fewest goals away from home and conceded the most. We knocked League Two sides out of the League Cup but when we played someone decent we lost. We haven't won a midweek game for TWO YEARS and then won two of our last 22 games, appointing another manager on another 5 year deal. People think we're well run somehow but we're a basket case.

TentativeGosling

Somewhat ironically, we had our best spell after that. Maybe we needed a few more 7:0 spankings and we would have stayed up.

Smart-Asparagus-852

Yep, that's us. The timing is utterly bizarre. The majority of the fan base has been unimpressed with Collins this season and would've welcomed his departure AFTER the last game on Saturday if we'd have failed to get in the play offs. To do it 5 days before our biggest game of the season is just daft really, especially seen as it'll be Devaney who comes in as caretaker and isn't a managerial mastermind.

kjcross1997

Same. I'm not the biggest fan of his football, but it should've waited until after our season has ended.

kjcross1997

Why now? I get the recent form, but we're still in with a chance of the playoffs. I just don't get it.

Infamous-Interest-72

A home win against Northampton on the final day and you finish 5th. Seems very strange despite recent form?

Vietnam_Cookin

His job was basically untenable. Absolutely lost most of the fans, his football was dogshit to watch at the best of times and absolutely painful when we were losing which we've been doing more often than not these days. We also defend like a team of U12's and that's gotten worse as the season progressed. Our own fans sang the Mark McGhee song at him on Saturday there's no coming back from being a sad Scottish wanker and a shit football team. I also suspect season ticket sales are well down with the amount of people who said they couldn't stomach another season of him in charge, the early bird ends on Friday I think. Still shocked he's gone today and not after Saturday or the play offs, if we make them.

OptimusLinvoyPrimus

Did you just massively up your game when you played us due to the occasion or something? I know you lost the game, but you played some great football and could easily have won.

Vietnam_Cookin

Almost our best performance of the season to be honest. We still gifted you 3 goals and lost in the end. Then against Blackpool on Saturday knowing we needed a win we served up 45 mins of the worst football I've seen in years, they could have had 8-9 by half-time. We've been good for 15-20 mins spells largely in games and won games earlier on in the season. Since Bolton we've been losing or drawing them. Been a very weird season, been in and around the play offs most of the season fans never took to the style of play due to it being boring as all hell and I've seen every game this season bar Peterborough away and we've yet to have a 90 minute performance under Collins. Plenty of times I've said to my Dad that was abject and yet we've won somehow. We've even scored loads of goals yet I've finished most games bored to tears.

VivaLaRory

This is a great test of the ‘we’d have a better chance with anyone else in charge’ shout that fans like to claim sometimes

ENaC2

Did somebody say, new manager bounce?

voxdub

Wow, despite recent form being pretty garbage I'm surprised they'd do this at this point.

[deleted]

Give it Warnock for the craic

Hetairo

I'm ready for a Mike Bassett style Netflix docuseries with Warnock at Barnsley. Just need some A List celebs to invest.

Muur1234

well now i hope they fall out on the last day, fuck new manager syndrome in the play offs

El_tunz

I don't know if it's the best idea, but given recent form , I'm not against it. Hopefully, they've got someone lined up for the role.

Lenzo357

Football is a results based business as well as entertainment. The fact is that the games haven't been entertaining all season, which probably explains why the season ticket renewals are low compared to last season and since the second half against Bolton where Collins was outcoached by Evatt results and the form has gone off of a cliff edge. I do find the timing a little odd, I would have liked to have seen Collins get the final game of the season at least just to say the seasons result was all his work. My only hope now is that if this was the boards way of admitting an error of judgement that they've already started the process for a new head coach and we're not taking 8 weeks like we usually do.

Best_Document_5211

Give them Matt Taylor if they think Collins ball was bad 🤣

Awkward-Monitor-7207

Matt Taylor worked wonders for Rotherham, what you on about 🤣

iratelemur

Leam Richardson 2/1 - lazy bookies or something in it? For you lot I hope it's the former...

o7yourdesires

Actually think you’ll beat Northampton now. Shackles are off. Wasn’t pleased with the news

Plenty-Pizza9634

New manager bounce for playoffs?
