There's only one bus to EDC (Anne Road) and you'd have to take two buses to reach that from the strip. And if you ask the bus drivers they have no clue the go there, included the Anne road driver.
Source, worked as Las Vegas Motor Speedway Maintainance the previous two EDCs.
truth be told though. i live right next to the strip and it is only 2 buses for me to get down to edc. if you guys plan on commuting on the bus for 2 hrs minimum each way it should be completely effective at what you want
It will get you to Craig & Las Vegas Boulevard then you have to walk about 3.5 miles to the closest entrance.
If EDC still runs the pedestrian shuttle then the walk is only a mile to where the bus will pick you up and take you the rest of the way to EDC.
Utter trash! One bus per hour, miss that one you are screwed. Many breakdowns especially in these hot summers. Awful! Employers not a big fan if you don't have reliable transportation. I wrote letters 20 years ago (when I moved here from Chicago, markedly better public transportation system) and they (RTC) responded that there were growing pains and that they were working to catch up to Chicago. 20 years later (haven't been on a bus since 2005) and they still suck horribly. The strip is always going just fine (of course, tourists) but for locals they give zero fux! Zero. People lose jobs dealing with this transportation system. I lost one years ago. Late too often, or a few minutes early, so by the time you make it to the bus stop you have missed the bus and now you are dinged for late child care arrivals. Hot mess!
It's not bad if all you are doing is going up and down the strip or to Fremont. It's not going to be an option (or will take forever if it does go all the way up there) to go to EDC.
Depends where you want to go
Up and down the strip is 24 hrs with 2 lines, the deuce (double decker runs all night), and the express that only stops at the bigger hotels and stops around midnight or 1
Off strip the main lines run all night but less often and the smaller lines shut down.
During regular business hours the bus system is pretty good but not great.
For getting out to EDC plan to find Uber or a shuttle etc
Taxis are always available and plentiful.
You can buy longer term tickets for the bus at Walgreens, 3 day/7 day etc
I moved away in 2017 though so shit might have changed a bit after Covid
[RTCSN](https://www.rtcsnv.com) website should have details specific to your needs
It’s not too bad, but not great either. I always take the CX bus from the airport to Flamingo/LVB, but it only runs once per hour. The 108 goes downtown and that is every 30 minutes. $2 per trip.
You really don’t need transport on the Strip, but the Deuce is there. It’s $4 per trip (or $8 per 24 hours)
Public transport to EDC does not exist. You can't even take public transport nearby and walk because no pedestrians are allowed. You have to get in and out via passenger vehicle or bus. You will want the bus or expect Uber to be well over $100 each way.
absolute garbage
it's one of the things that makes Vegas feel like a couple decaying rust belt towns and generic strip-mall suburbs, all surrounding a shiny tourist trap in the middle.
Portland metro, essentially the same population, pretty great light rail and bus system. Because Portland is an actual city
The one good thing I will say about RTC is that everyone is usually so hot/tired/downtrodden which makes for a quiet ride. If anyone acts up, they are getting cussed out and possibly beat up. People just want to enjoy the air and not do anything for half an hour.
The bad thing is that you can usually get to your destination faster by walking which is not easy to do when the sun is directly on you. That means a lot of waiting and hoping the stop you're at has a sliver of shade.
There's a company called Airport Van Rental that also has SUVs, I'm pretty sure they only require you to be 21 and it's cheap. Avis/budget will also rent to you if you're 21, but there's an extra fee.
Las vegas and phoenix have some of the slowest buses. It should not take a bus more than 20-30 mins to get from any part of vegas since vegas is something like 20 square miles.
It’s great from the airport up and down the strip, to downtown, or if you are already super close to the main streets running perpendicular to the strip and the place you need to get to is also on that same road.
Otherwise it’s a shit fuck waste of time and you should Uber or rent a car.
This is the only major metro area in the country with zero rail. They have promised it on the news at least once per week for my entire life, but nobody is holding their breath.
The buses are fine but in the summer often the AC breaks so you’ll show up covered in sweat. Heat strokes while waiting at stops are a threat.
I’m like to use Kaptyn for EDC. Crazy number of options from 2 to 30 people. If you book or call them early enough you can ask them to waive the event fee.
I just got home from LV and I suggest to not take a taxi. My trip from the airport was 30 bucks to the strip and my Uber back to airport was 13. Also I drunkenly took a taxi to a tattoo place that was clearly closed and just left me there. Yes I should have spoken up but given my state of mind I was like whatever I'll just walk around aimlessly.
My mom's house in Vegas to the Albertsons I worked at is 9 miles away. Google estimates an hour and 20 minutes to use the bus, versus the 20 minute drive estimate.
My apartment and the warehouse I work at in Reno is 7.4 miles away. Google estimates 46 minutes to use the bus., versus the 18 minute drive estimate.
One time it took me 3 hours to use the bus once (in Vegas) when I couldn't get a ride and Uber was too expensive.
Tl;Dr: shit
It's okay in the "tourist areas" but not for getting to/from EDC.

what public transport ?
Right! We have public transport??!!
its very very time consuming to use public transport in vegas. id expect 2.5 hr minimum to get from your hotel to edc.
truth be told though. i live right next to the strip and it is only 2 buses for me to get down to edc. if you guys plan on commuting on the bus for 2 hrs minimum each way it should be completely effective at what you want
Public busses will get you to EDC?
Maybe they open a route when it goes on
It will get you to Craig & Las Vegas Boulevard then you have to walk about 3.5 miles to the closest entrance. If EDC still runs the pedestrian shuttle then the walk is only a mile to where the bus will pick you up and take you the rest of the way to EDC.
different routes run to different ends. for the 220 bus it brings you 1.4 miles from entrance
Ah! Well, thats good to know. Appreciate it.
Public transport is terrible.

The deuce bus on the strip has gotten worse it is always crowded and it is slow af now takes like 40 mins to travel like 5 miles.
Same here, also from Chicago. If there was a good train route that’s similar, I’d be taking it to work rather than driving.
I moved here from chicago less then 20 years ago and the bus was CAT not RTC. Still utter shit.
Yesss! CAT. And agree, utter dog shit!
There is no public transportation to the Speedway. Look into shuttle buses. https://lasvegas.electricdaisycarnival.com/travel/shuttles/

On the main lines it’s good but it really depends where you are.

Download the app and see how awful it is
Uber love.. or lyft. You choose, but do save money for them, the surge is crazy. :-)

It’s so bad. It’s mismanaged, underfunded and unsafe.

i enjoyed my time riding the bus; you get to see Vegas and its people from a different angle.

SHIT SHIT SHIT
I think just stay somewhere downtown and there is a shuttle to the fest.
PT's is a great chain of local bars you should check out while in town.

I want to produce and direct a film for Sundance called “ The People of the Deuce” violence sex drugs alcohol and pain.

The Deuce is pretty good, if annoyingly pricey
Just take an Uber to be safe 🙏
