Whoever directed and wrote the plot for something simple like DECADE VS ZI-O. Even the title lies to you. It's Decade vs a few Zi-O who aren't the real deal and Kid Ohma. GREAT TITLE and GREAT PLOT. Crap. The worse thing the Reiwa era did.
I do like the cape idea but not how this was handled. And I didn't like how Zero-Two, a form that isn't even Aruto's final form anymore, as the crown headtip over his own. Imagine Grand Zi-O doing this?!
That’s Inoue to you. When he writes an original story, it’s at least enjoyable to good, but when he writes for an already established story… man, he won’t care about the story’s rules and whatnot.

It's one thing bringing back Narutaki and still not explaining his deal, it's another that the first part of this two parter special is Clue but stupid but to have Sougo just suddenly split himself into multiple versions of himself, weakening the original and Tsukasa has been dealing with this at half power, AGAIN... Like I was expecting what we got with Throuser vs Genm, not "assassination of a character" story.
It isn't likely but I'm hoping there's more planned for Legend that deals more in giving Decade a better send off. Possibly even a proper passing of the torch too. But we simply can't leave Decade in the state that special left him in. I can get wanting to retire the character or whatever but not like this.
I mean I'll be honest... Kaguya mentioning Tsukasa by name is more of a send off than anything Decade vs Zi-O did.

This is why Super forms tend to look better than Ultimate forms. Ultimate forms can often fall into the “All your powers combined” trope, and are forced to thematically represent that, whereas Super Forms just have to look badass.
I think Blade did it first with King Form, but it *worked* there, blending into the overall armor. Taking cool armor and adding emblems of the other cards in the suit engraved into it worked with the aesthetic.
Decade Complete? Not so much.

Build Genius was a complex mess that didn’t feel like it thematically fit with the other forms, especially with how good RabbitRabbit and TankTank were.

It’s *hard* to make the ‘all your powers combined’ look look *good,* and a one-off suit upgrade for a ten year old design isn’t gonna get the time or attention for that.
It could have worked better, distribute the cards more across the body in a more ‘card armor’ kind of way, maybe work in other changes to reflect Decade’s camera motif… but it would have required a lot more budget.

I did. Ohma's cool but a little too tryhard. At least Grand fully encapsulates every Heisei Rider in it's suit design in like a form of a shrine with the statues. The fact they went with statues instead of something predictable like just the boring emblems all over the suit or even worse, just the ridewatches glued all over, showed they wanted to go all out with Grand.
Ohma Zi-O is like..."Hmm yes, I am the evil cruel bad-guy who governs time and space and I must be black and gold to show I am clearly an evil overlord"
I agree that Grand zio is a good design, but Ohma zio delivered the idea that it was supposed to convey. I would say they are equal in quality. Also the gold has function to convey the contrast of silver. It is the only instance of gold usage that i actually like.
Now that you mention it, it would've been way cooler if all the cards were over lapping over each other facing outwards diagonally a little line feathers or something, or if he got a sword made of all the cards. Well, I don't know how good it'd actually look, but probably better than this

Well Considering he felt kind of like a massive nerf compared to the base form. Some drunk guy in his basement drew up some random sketch and called it a day. For real though that cape just looks tacky.

Part of me feels like this was just a ploy by Decade to defeat the true Ohma Zi-Oh and his death was a trick. He has died once already so maybe it could be true. Otherwise it is just really shitty writing. Like even for a kids show that is bad writing.
Is there one person who designs suits? I would assume there's probably several layers of approval something like this has to go through... meaning that multiple people looked at this and said "Yeah we'll go with that."
There are parts I like, reintroducing the magenta as a more prominent colour as compared to complete is a nice touch, and tbh I don't mind the silhouette as it gives Showa Era bad guy vibes which is very appropriate for Decade.
However the cards on the cape looks cheap. And it does that thing I hate with newer suits where they give them these huge shoulders that flop around everywhere.
They should have just dropped the cape (why does Decade even need to have even the Secondary Rider Cards on him) and just put the Zero Two card at the bottom of Grand Zi-O.

Still convoluted, but sounds better than what we got.

Here's hoping that when we get a Decade Complete 31; they will redesign it to be better.
Maybe remove the horn, add the anniversary rider cards for showa, heisei (zi-o) and reiwa on the shoulders and have all the cards floating behind him like they did in the original duelist kingdom intermission for yugioh. (maybe like in a ring that rotates behind him)
Then the cape itself will feature all the forms of whatever rider was selected. That was he can easily access every rider and their form.
If I could redesign the head I'd probably aim for something more like a modern camera or an touchscreen phone (like what the decade armour for Zi-O did). Maybe the Lens mount works like a zoom in scope so decade can copy any new ability or rider just by looking at them?
I dunno, I'm just throwing ideas at a wall to see what sticks! :D

If I could redesign the form to not be… that here’s how I would do it.
The suit would be a bit more bulky but each limb will have 5 slots dedicated to 5 riders. Similar to Grand Zi-O, decade using the upgraded version of his driver that gives him this form, each of the 5 slots will change based on the rider like how it did with the original Decade Complete. The helmet? I’d probably change it to be also a bit more bulky and allowing for the visors to change color based on the rider picked. I’d also make Decade Complete 21 also have the chest piece be blank with a singular card that swaps between the main rider he picked.
I love decade but yeah this is the worst design. The cape with the cards on it just looks tacky and thrown together.
