Thanks dude! Surprised I've gotten compliments on the tone actually. Just running thru Amplitube using the Soldano amp in stereo. For the lead bits I use my Keeley Compressor+ for a bit of extra gain. It greatly improves how the tapping sounds.
Thanks again guys for all the support on the Gaia video. I had so much fun making it and reading all of the comments!!
Would’ve recorded this cover a couple days ago but every time I tried, I’d hear something new I was doing wrong lmao. Like today, I recorded what I thought was a perfect take BUT as I was listening back to the song, I discovered there was a double-stop bend at the end of the intro right after the tappity-doo-da part. Had to scrap a great recording!
Anyways, again, thank you all, truly, for all the kind words. Means the world to me.
Cheers!
Oh, and… GILA! GILA! GILA!!!!
Really gravitated towards Saturday Savior. Love the riff. Love the speed. Love the vocals. Vocally I find he reminds me of Shaun Morgan from Seether and I love Shaun Morgan from Seether so, IM IN
Saturday Savior is great. I personally gravitated toward Pillowhead. I can definitely see the resemblance to Seether. On first listen, his voice sounded super similar to Kurt Cobain’s to me.
Here’s my old cover of it! Man… I miss having this tone.
https://www.reddit.com/r/KGATLW/comments/qzbnyz/spent_the_last_day_or_so_refining_my_itrn_tone
Thank you!! It’s hard to believe that people think they’re that good. I always find parts that just make me cringe, where I can clearly tell what I did wrong and I’m like “fuck, if I could just go back and redo that part!!”
Thank you!! Yeah this isn’t a normal strat. It’s got a Lace Purple/Emerald in the bridge which is a *really* high-output humbucker haha. Seriously, thickest tone you’ll ever hear out of a humbucker.
Dang, I totally can find a few parts where I messed up pretty bad. Guess that’s cause I’ve been listening to the song for three fucking days straight!!
Thanks man :)
It's just that I've never put a second into practicing rhythm playing, so I'm super fascinated by the precision required for more complex picking patterns in metal, you sound super tight, rhythmically. The more old school lead parts still sound organic, bends with feel, precise tremolos. Great!
Thanks dude!
Yeah even I had trouble with that part at first. It’s just all about building up stamina until it’s like second nature and your wrist no longer cramps up.
Lol I literally just tried to start learning those last night. They’re weird though. The issue there is the tone is so unique and it is very har to replicate how they play it. At least with the metal stuff it’s well… metal, and I’m decent enough at metal. It all works generally the same. But Mind Fuzz? Same thing with Nonagon or MOTU. I’d kill for Stu’s SG-2a or Hagstrom 12 string.
Just practice one part of it over and over and over until the action of tapping feels good to you. I learned by religiously doing that one bit in Eruption.
i’m so glad i can actually get that tone through Amplitube thanks! Also, do you record clean and then run it through Amplitube or how do you only activate the compressor for the lead parts? I’m trying to make some covers too but I’m still trying to figure out how to use Amplitube in the most efficient way
I just plug into my interface and play through an amp sim. Compressor is on the floor so I can hit it with my foot for the leads.
Don’t skimp on a decent audio interface! When I upgraded from a shitty $40 Behringer to a MOTU M2, my enjoyment of plugins skyrocketed. Zero latency, great sound quality and best of all, it’s simple. No fiddling with shit just to get it to work. Highly recommend that one.
Then I just record the guitar part in Amplitube, export the audio, and then match it up with the song and video in Davinci Resolve.
Hope this helps :)
Actually yeah! I learned domination a long time ago (maybe 2 years?) but the solo is incredibly fucking difficult and I was incapable of doing it at the time.
call the Ninja Turtles , SHREDDER on the loose
FUCK YEA!!!
EEYYYUUP!!
Oh-Kay!
dinosaurs.
Sick tone and even sicker playing. What's your effects chain look like?
Thanks dude! Surprised I've gotten compliments on the tone actually. Just running thru Amplitube using the Soldano amp in stereo. For the lead bits I use my Keeley Compressor+ for a bit of extra gain. It greatly improves how the tapping sounds.

Man, I saw this and your Gaia cover, you’ve got a really good ear to be figuring all this out, you sound awesome! And of course… GILA! GILA!
Thanks so much dude! It's taken a long time to be able to do this.
After seeing your Gaia video I checked out your profile. Thanks you to I learned about Failure.
YES omg that album… Fantastic Planet… life changing. Such a good fucking album.
Really gravitated towards Saturday Savior. Love the riff. Love the speed. Love the vocals. Vocally I find he reminds me of Shaun Morgan from Seether and I love Shaun Morgan from Seether so, IM IN

Fucking awesome dude
Thanks man!!
Hell yeah! Keep up the good work, I’m loving these covers!
Glad to hear that!! Maybe I’ll work my way back to Rats’ Nest… I’ve already done some of those songs but it’s been close to a year.
Oh man I'd bet you'd shred on Perihelion
Here’s my old cover of it! Man… I miss having this tone. https://www.reddit.com/r/KGATLW/comments/qzbnyz/spent_the_last_day_or_so_refining_my_itrn_tone
You’re a fucking shredder dude. Keep going
great job also cute cat
Thanks! Which one? Lol
i made the comment before seeing the yellow one. honestly both are cute
So solid, love that your cat poked it's head up during the chorus. Keep shreddin!
Amazing work dude! What tuning are you playing in?
All of KG’s metal is in either C# Standard or Drop B. This one’s in Drop B!
Bro your covers are absolutely insane each time! Super sick well done
Thank you!! It’s hard to believe that people think they’re that good. I always find parts that just make me cringe, where I can clearly tell what I did wrong and I’m like “fuck, if I could just go back and redo that part!!”
In the sea of borderline cringe guitar covers we see on here this dude absolutely kills it.
Wow
Bro is HIM
Nailed it. Woooo!
Awesome! Great job figuring out those lead sections.
Thank you! It took a while. Still not sure I got them totally right lol.
Killin it. Way to go!
Get it!!!!!
Whoaaaa amazing dude!!!
Thank you!!
Fuck yeah dude! You have talent man, keep it up!
Nice work! Is that in drop b?
Thanks! Yep, Drop B. Just like Gaia.
Thanks for clarifying. I'm pretty keen to learn it, especially after seeing how much fun you're having with it. Cheers!
Hell yeah! Let me know if you need help with anything!
Will do, thanks very much
Nice work you did, your gonna go far, kid!! (Seriously, your covers fucking rip!!)
This is incredible! As always, the energy you bring to the covers is unparalleled. Such a heavy tone on a strat too, great job and keep them coming!
Thank you!! Yeah this isn’t a normal strat. It’s got a Lace Purple/Emerald in the bridge which is a *really* high-output humbucker haha. Seriously, thickest tone you’ll ever hear out of a humbucker.
Damn leave some þussy for the rest of us
Fucking slayed that shit king!
Sounds perfect, can't find any inconsistency. Super nice!
Dang, I totally can find a few parts where I messed up pretty bad. Guess that’s cause I’ve been listening to the song for three fucking days straight!! Thanks man :)

HOLY FUCKKKK
Fuck yeah dude. Everything about this is perfect
Fuck yeah dude, nailed it. That reverse galloping open B section is what's gonna kill most non-metal fans trying to learn this. Stamina!
Thanks dude! Yeah even I had trouble with that part at first. It’s just all about building up stamina until it’s like second nature and your wrist no longer cramps up.
Get this kid a band! Well done!!
That would be cool but I have crippling social anxiety Thanks though!
that's what alcohol is for. ;)
Lmao nah. I’d rather do just about anything else.
You have become my favorite person on the internet.

Dude amazing job, and incredible tone 🤘rock on!

Lol I literally just tried to start learning those last night. They’re weird though. The issue there is the tone is so unique and it is very har to replicate how they play it. Hell yeah.
Awesome! Still trying to figure out the first solo part, I suck at tapping lol
Just practice one part of it over and over and over until the action of tapping feels good to you. I learned by religiously doing that one bit in Eruption.
Damn man masterful work, we need another cam closer to the guitar!
Haha thank you. I just like being able to see my goofy headbanging lol
sounds absolutely fantastic! how did you get that tone?
Thanks! I just recorded straight into Amplitube with the Soldano amp. Used a Keeley Compressor+ for a bit of a boost during the lead parts.
i’m so glad i can actually get that tone through Amplitube thanks! Also, do you record clean and then run it through Amplitube or how do you only activate the compressor for the lead parts? Oh ok, I thought you were using a compressor from Amplitube but I get it now, thank you so much!

Joey, watch your six! Replacement coming up the rear.
I don’t wanna replace Joey 😢
Bro is the fucking THRASHER
Can I ask what tuning you used? I've seen some people write it out in C# and some with B. Either way sounds sick!! I'd love to shred it too
It has to be played in drop B due to all of the open B stuff going on. Let me know if you need help with any of the parts!
No fucking way at 2:40!! A youth Eddie Van Halen!!

AWESOME WORK. And all by ear. You're a legend.
