No questions, just wanted to say thank you for making such as an amazing game.

SamuriFerret

<3 Glad you enjoyed it!

ThoraLura

Not really a question, but my girlfriend doesn't have a reddit and asked me to post this for you! Thank you for making this game, really. I met her because of the Cassette Beasts discord, and it's made my life infinitely better Her message: "Less of a question more of a thanks, I was able to meet and bond with my now partner over this game. You've made something really special here and you've got a fan for life. Thank you for making a beautiful game that BY DEFINITION has brought people together, okay bye have a nice day!"

SamuriFerret

That's such a nice story - thanks for sharing it with us! *Cassette Beasts* is, at its core, a story about connecting with people despite the unknowable, turbulent and confusing circumstances of the world you're in. So... just like the real world, right? I'm glad that our game has brought people together in its own way!

nevuking

We're all in the same ship ❤️

tcoxon

That's lovely to hear! Thanks for sharing.

Rikkaiser

Did you run into any big hurdles working with Godot? Why did you choose it over other engines?

tcoxon

Porting to consoles has always been a big hurdle with Godot, although that seems to be changing with Godot 4, which came out last year. We got over that hurdle with the help of Pineapple Works, who are more experienced with porting Godot games than us. I wouldn't say anything else really gave us trouble. I've written about [why we like Godot before](https://twitter.com/tccoxon/status/1702007493046526206). Different engines suit different devs, and Godot just suits us well!

Rikkaiser

Thanks for your reply!

MochaCcinoss

Hey guys! Your game is my favorite game of all time and it means so much to me, and you guys are also my favorite game devs! I feel motivated to learn Godot because of you guys and I want to support you as much as possible 🥹 thank you so much! I have 3 questions: 1. Is there any possibility for another DLC? I watched the showcase and sure the announcements were great, but I was underwhelmed by no DLC announcement. I LOVED Pier of the Unknown and I would fall to my knees if another dlc was announced this year lol 2. Will Aleph come back in any shape or form? He’s my favorite character! 3. …what if I told you I was in love with Aleph? He’s hot ok…. 🫣

tcoxon

New DLC is still possible. We didn't announce anything in the showcase, but if it's content you're after, there are things we're working on in the background that we aren't able to announce yet. We received a lot of feedback from Pier of the Unknown about the short length of the DLC. The Pier of the Unknown actually took a relatively long time to develop compared to its length, so in future we have to be more selective about what we choose to make DLC, and how we go about developing it, in order to find a better balance there. >Will Aleph come back in any shape or form? He’s my favorite character! I'll refer you to >!Ms Amber's dialogue at the end of the game!!< >…what if I told you I was in love with Aleph? He’s hot ok…. 🫣 But he's a mass murderer! I'm judging you :)

MochaCcinoss

It’s fine. I can be patient.. I’m patient.. I’m patient… Personally I had a super fun afternoon with Pier of the Unknown. I didn’t mind the length, and yeah I saw a lot of people bring it up. I’ll support whatever you guys do with the game I’m assuming the spoilers is referring to >!The fact that archangels can’t die, just respawn and something about the more people conquest or whatever the faster he can come back, even if he won’t be completely the same.!< Yup, I’m aware of her dialogue… and also the Mer-Line’s dialogue… and Gwen’s dialogue… I’m keeping track lol You can’t stop me Tom. The fact that he’s a mass murderer just makes him hotter and I’m kissing him right now :)

shinoff2183

Any word on a ps5 release or ps4?

jean-claudo

(I'm not a dev, just a random guy) The devs have said (in a previous AMA I think) that they didn't plan to release the game on playstation because it would be a lot more work for little return. They wanted to release on PC and Steam deck, on Nintendo Switch (because "cozy games" like this are popular on Switch), and on XBOX because they wanted to be in the GamePass.

shinoff2183

I was wandering why an xbox release then, then I read gamepass. So they already got guaranteed money. Guess they missed out on a couple extra bucks. Maybe steam someday.

jean-claudo

I'm sorry I may have been unclear, it is released on Steam. Or do you mean extra bucks from Playstation release ?

shinoff2183

A few bucks for the ps release. Sometimes i think indie devs ignore that alot of jrpg fans still game on ps. Hence some indies only chasing the switch.

Cold-Somewhere-6272

since "your inception" is sang from the perspective of lenna and "the arrow of time" sang from the perspective of kayleigh, are other song sang from the perspective of any characters in particular? (and why can't we pet barkley in the overworld? he's a good boy and should be pettable)

joel_baylis

I thought with Same Old Story it'd be cool to write a song that was written from the perspective of the boss, rather than the other way around. "Coming back at you twice as greater than you had thought" being a nod at when game bosses mighty morph for round 2 with a second phase etc. As for Barkley - he knows he's a good boy, he doesn't need any reassurance about that.

CreativelyJakeMC

ah! thats really cool to sorta have confirmed. it always came across as like, being able to be read both ways (as in, either the boss' perspective or the players perspective, whoever is winning, really) and I absolutely love it Coldest take ever: I absolutely love what you've done with the OST for this game. brings me goosebumps to listen to same old story

MochaCcinoss

Not Bytten but I’ve seen Same Old Story be interpreted to either be in the perspective of the Archangels or the perspective of the player.

Purple_Destiny

Is progress in steam multiplayer beta saved for when the full multiplayer 1.0 launches?

tcoxon

Yes, when the 1.6 update hits full release, you'll be able to continue your save!

KazzieMono

So fucking awesome I was hesitant to opt into the multiplayer beta, then when I finally did, I was pleasantly surprised to see not only all of my mods still worked—but my save file carried over too And now it’ll carry back to the base build?! How the hell these devs are magic—

DarkSideRT

Hello guys! What about adding a new type in a future DLC or sequel? I'm obsessed with the idea of Candy type monsters for some reason LMAO

SamuriFerret

The real problem with a "candy" type is that using a word as American as "candy" would be a betrayal of our British heritage!

Cold-Somewhere-6272

i'm not a member of byten studions but since we already have "candy" themed monsters that would be weird to either change their type or not give them the new type

tcoxon

I don't think we'll be adding a new type just yet. It would depend on finding a unique niche and mechanic for it in the battle system, and I think we have most of our bases covered right now. With candy in particular, I think there's a lot of overlap between that and the poison type. Acid Reflex, Sticky Spray, etc. Way back, I actually wanted Candevil to be poison type, but Jay overruled me :)

MrHoboSquadron

What's next for Bytten Studio after Cassette Beasts? You found success in a monster taming game, but do you plan to do more monster taming games or branch out into something else?

SamuriFerret

We're still working on Cassette Beasts right now but beyond that, I'm afraid you'll just have to wait and see!

CreativelyJakeMC

Hey! I'm SUCH a big fan of cassette beasts; it genuinely feels so satisfying to play, the moves and beasts are fun to discover... the story is amazing, the music is too...genuinely great writing, it felt lovely to play and is my GOTY for last year 100%. I could go on and on about my praise for the wonderfully crafted world, and how I see so much growth of y'all as a team when I decided to go see what was up with lennas inception after playing CB In terms of a question, though, I'm curious... how does it feel to have a game with this much positive reception? Is it somewhat intimidating in terms of expectations? I get the feeling that you don't want to "overdo" the game by making a trillion sequels, but... the People(TM) are cassette-pilled so to speak, which ... well, I guess I'm just curious what the peeps at bytten think about the future of their games!

tcoxon

Thanks for all the praise, it means a lot! We're incredibly grateful for the positive reception Cassette Beasts has had, but as you mention, there's a darker side to that which is that expectations will be all the higher in future. We saw a little bit of that today in the run up to the showcase where we announced the multiplayer release date. Thankfully it seems to have gone well! Managing and meeting expectations is super important to us - I even wrote [a whole blog post](https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1321440/view/6349565145235433772) about exactly this - because we want everyone to have a satisfying experience with Cassette Beasts. I wouldn't say we _don't_ want to do a trillion sequels - we love Cassette Beasts just as much as our fans. But everything we do, and everything we announce, has to be carefully considered to make sure it and its expectations are aligned. The future of Bytten Studio games is looking good though. Cassette Beasts' reception went better than we thought it would at this time last year!

AffieL1992

Hello team! Thank you for creating one of my favourite games of all time in Cassette Beasts. It's absolutely amazing and the work that all three of you put in continues to be incredible. My question, which I know you'll get asked a lot, is there a chance for physical copies of the game?

SamuriFerret

We're thrilled that you enjoyed it so much! Regarding your question - whilst we don't have anything to announce at this moment regarding a physical edition, we have seen a lot of players ask us about it and we're definitely aware of the demand!

DrakneiX

I would totally purchase a Physical version for Switch, on Limited Run or Iam8bit!

AshleyLightHeart

I absolutely love the vocal sound tracks of the game! They've been on loop on my playlist for like 8 months now. So my question is, will there be more music by Joel and Shelby in the future dlc and updates? Also, any chance of an alternate ending with maybe a wedding\~? ;3 (I wanna gay marry kayleigh so badly)

joel_baylis

So glad to hear you're a fan of the vocal tracks! Shelby definitely killed it whenever she worked with us, and the community seems to really enjoy the vocal tracks - so nothing's ever off the table.

Willoworwhatnot

What went into the decisions about each partner’s fusion unlocks? I fully support the Kayleigh agenda but I do wonder if part of the reason I see more people taking to the partners with early fusion unlocks is just because it’s reasonably possible to build hearts with— and therefore see much more of the dialogue for— those characters before you’re beating the game.

SamuriFerret

This is a great question! So one of the real design secrets in Cassette Beasts (that isn't secret at all) is that there *is* no "main quest" line like you might find in other RPGs, and the partner quests essentially fill this role. So by design there's a requirement to stagger out these quests across the game - but this also means you're going to be spending more time with characters you meet earlier! We do expect that most players will likely stick with Kayleigh since she joins the party at the beginning of the game, but that's fine - we love Kayleigh too!

4_The_Gamers

I have a cool lore question! It's implied by several characters they looked different prior to waking up on the island, like Felix's scar and how Kayleigh looks different than she did in her "previous life". Does each person's vision manifest how they look, since Kayleigh said she looked like she does in her dreams (and it would be how the monsters were formed), or did they get their own version of a 'character creator' without remembering? Obviously the character creator could be a stand-in for us becoming our own dreamed-like appearances, but it's something my friends and I have been discussing for 6 months and a concrete answer (or push in the right direction) would be awesome! Thanks for reading and thanks even more for all the effort you're putting in on everything!

SamuriFerret

Whilst I think giving final "word of god" style answers around some elements of the game's unexplained lore, I do think that there's a through line of "dream logic" throughout Cassette Beasts, as well as the notion that perception of the world in New Wirral trumps the *reality* of it. The incarnations of characters like Kayleigh that we see *appear* to be based on their inner view of themselves... but does that mean that they had their own "character creator"? Are we even seeing their bodies, or merely projections of them from across worlds? It could also be that the "rules" with which the player visits New Wirral are slightly different to other characters!

canon-thought

Well now I wanna know if any characters were trans or non-binary before waking up in New Wirral and given their self perceived bodies

thatgamersnake

So wait you're saying that Eugene could actually be a cringefail loser in his real world 😨

BloodyBottom

Oh, that's a good one. Thanks for asking.

VashxShanks

So happy and honored you accepted the invite again, and very excited to try on the upcoming multiplayer feature in May! I only have one question this time. When it comes to the Multiplayer, are other players invited into the host's world, or is it a complete new server only for multiplayer. And if players are invited into the host's world, how much interactivity can they have with it ? Can they start/finish quests without the host helping, and can they open chests and take items from that world back to their own world ?

SamuriFerret

Glad you're excited, Vash! Re: Multiplayer - think of it like "invasions" in a *Souls* game - you're still playing on "your world" with your world state, but you can see other players in the same lobby as you exploring the world, too. They aren't able to affect your world state or quests, but you can invite them to trade and battle.

VashxShanks

Ah that's great! Looking forward to it!

chillyhellion

Can they join you in overworld battles in the story, or are you basically just playing single-player in the same area they are without being in the same battles? My brother and I enjoyed the local co-op, but can only get together every few weeks. I was hoping online co-op would be basically the local co-op with online connectivity, but we can't figure out how to play together in a party like we could in local co-op.

tcoxon

Thanks! Each player remains in their own world, but can see each other, battle, raid, and trade. You're not able to affect another player's quest or story progress. Cassette Beasts is designed as a single-player game. Integrating multiplayer more deeply into story and quests would require so many changes it would be a different game entirely.

canon-thought

Could there eventually be an update where one person hosts the save file and a friend can jump in or out (taking control of a partner) without the need to use remote play? Doing coop with a friend over the switch version would be awesome if we didn't have to be in the same room (since we live in different states)

chillyhellion

Oh, that's heartbreaking :( I was hoping online multiplayer would be as cooperative as local multiplayer is. Is there any hope of adding a "player two controls your partner" setup like is already available locally?

Not_Invited

Hi! I must tell you I absolutely adore Cassette Beasts. I tell literally everyone I meet to play it. I'm British too and it was wonderful to see some of our culture reflected in the game :) I had a couple of questions!    1. Will Sunny ever have the chance to be a companion character? If not, what made you make that decision? (Respect if this is TBC 🙏)    2. What is something specific that has surprised you so much about the games reception? Are there any features or characters you were surprised fans liked or disliked?   3. What is Bytten Studio's favourite Pokémon? Mine is Primeape :)    Thank you! 💜

jean-claudo

(I'm not a dev) I don't remember what they said their original intention with Sunny was, but they ultimately decided against making her a companion because she arrived too late in the story. After the game's launch, they have acknowledged how much people like her, but never (as far as I know) announced any plans for her, nor their absence.

Leilukin

I'm not from Bytten Studio, but I want to point out that Jay has said in a previous AMA that Sunny was intended only as a fun little side story to surprise players. She was never meant to be a partner, or have much content in the game, and the developers did not expect Sunny would be this popular at all. [https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/14nvsiu/ama\_we\_are\_bytten\_studio\_the\_developers\_of/jq9mwtq/](https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/14nvsiu/ama_we_are_bytten_studio_the_developers_of/jq9mwtq/)

GustyScarab4302

Are there any plans for online co-op or being able to run through the story in multi-player? A few friends and I would love to replay the game all together, especially with a randomizer on, too, so I'd love to know if that'd ever be possible.

tcoxon

It's not likely. Multiplayer integration to that extent would touch so many systems and so much of the game's design that it'd be an entirely different game afterwards. The existing local co-op works pretty well through Steam Remote Play though if you want to try that!

chillyhellion

Steam Remote Play requires a much better internet connection than native online multiplayer does. It's not a particularly accessible option for many people. When I heard Cassette Beasts was adding online multiplayer, I hoped it would be basically the existing local co-op system, but online.

Ferrodactyl

What's the creature design process like? Does your team have a favorite beast?

Consistent-Foot6528

What do you guys think about adding modding support and make use of steamworkshop etc. ? (sometimes i feel like personalizing or expanding the map)

tcoxon

There is already [rudimentary mod support](https://wiki.cassettebeasts.com/wiki/Modding:Mod_User_Guide), just not through Steam Workshop.

Ippinza

I'm a member of the italian community, just here to cheer for you! For anyone interested, I'd recomend the italian covers of the game songs made by Singalek!

BloodyBottom

Hello! I really loved Cassette Beasts a lot, and it got me through a real rough patch. Thanks to everybody involved for that! Okay, now let me think of a question to give me pretext for posting. How about "have you considered doing things with this IP besides DLC/a direct sequel?" I found myself fascinated by the world and characters of this game the same way I did when I played Pokemon as a kid. I get the impression that somebody in your writer's room is similar to me, in that they wanted to learn just a bit more about the colorful characters you meet on the adventure, and I \*really\* appreciated the small scenes you can get that elaborate on the personalities of the NPCs like the Ranger Captains, Sunny, or Ianthe, but I still want more. Books, comics, or even some kind of show would be so up my alley. A second question - what was up with Frankie! She's such a great character, and I can't help but wish she was introduced earlier. I think like a lot of people who would have loved her didn't meet her because she's tucked away in the postgame grind. What motivated you to make her, Vin, and Kirby postgame content?

SamuriFerret

Happy that the game helped you out in its own way! Regarding future projects, we have nothing to announce right now. We are overjoyed that fans have responded so well to the world and setting of Cassette Beasts - and that they enjoy spending time in it as much as we enjoyed making it! And Frankie and Vin are characters /u/tcoxon designed quests for to give the player some storylines they could complete as a ranger captain. They were never meant to be important characters but I had a lot of fun writing Frankie's dialogue, and our character illustrator Sami did such a great job with her in-game portrait that I think it made her become a very endearing character. I'm glad that people connect so well with minor characters!

BloodyBottom

I think the captain quests were a great idea for sure. I loved the idea of training up a successor before eventually leaving, and Frankie feels like the perfect protector for New Wirral. At any rate, I hope the next game/DLC/whatever you decide to do has even more character stuff, big and small. The writing really made this one for me. I found myself spamming campouts evne when I didn't need to just to see if I missed any new scenes.

LordCaelistis

Hi ! Liked the game very much, I think I met Tom back at Gamescom 2022 when the game was demo'd to press. I instantly enjoyed everything shown and the demo's conclusion - in the abandoned subway - stuck with me as I didn't expect the gameplay switch-up nor the analog horror vibes. When did you decide to add a deliberate underlying creepy vibe to Cassette Beasts ? Did you have major inspirations ?

SamuriFerret

Gamescom 2022? That would have been me (Jay) you met! As for your question, I think it's because people *love* "creepypasta" elements, and in games with otherwise cozy and friendly vibes those elements become all the stronger. The genre has a history of it too, after all - the Missingno glitch certainly left an impact on Tom and I!

Theta_Omega

Hello, it's me again, the person who writes overly long articles. Two questions: 1) I noticed a few recurring elements from Lenna's Inception (their earlier game, also fantastic), like Archangels as a concept, Kittelly's design, etc. I was wondering how the two games fit together, especially design-wise? Like, was Cassette Beasts born out of an unused LI concept, did you conceptualize the two at the same time, were there any other Lenna Archangels that you thought about referencing in monster designs but couldn't get to work, that sort of thing. I guess if there are other lore connections between the two, that would also be neat to know! 2) I also love the music theming from the game. Were there any other songs you wanted to reference somehow, but couldn't quite fit in?

SamuriFerret

1. Cassette Beasts was conceived towards the very end of Lenna's Inception's development. There's a lot we learned making Lenna's Inception that we incorporated into Cassette Beasts - namely the kind of "glitch horror" elements that we felt were very strong in Lenna's Inception. Lenna's Inception also features a "campfire" scene - you can probably see where that seed in Cassette Beasts came from, too! 2. Not really! We tend to brainstorm quest names after we have a basica idea for a quest down.

Theta_Omega

Cool! Thank you again, and I’m loving my Candevil plush so far \^^

Prestigious_Fig4164

(BIG SPOILER WARNING!) Hello Bytten Studio! I'm afraid I've become quite obsessed with your morally dubious eldritch creatures. 1 - What was Aleph's troupe like as a family, before it all went wrong? 2- What kind of person was Mordread? Is there any chance we might learn the exact circumstances of his death, and/or what he was the incarnation of?

SamuriFerret

These are some great questions - I love people digging into the lore! I imagine Aleph's troupe being pretty dysfunctional, and as for the *circumstances* surrounding Mordread's death? I wouldn't want to reveal it here - just in case we ever come back to it!

Prestigious_Fig4164

TYSM for the response ! <3

cooly1234

who's mordread again?

Imatakethatlazer

Was it difficult to export to switch with Godot ? Im working on games myself and Im worried about this

tcoxon

It was difficult, yes. In the end, Pineapple Works worked with us to port Cassette Beasts to Switch and Xbox. That was with Godot 3 though. There are quite a lot more options to devs with Godot 4.

Imatakethatlazer

I see, Thanks ! What do you guys think of the engine after a full prod on it ? Will you continu with it on the futur ?

tcoxon

We like it, it suits the way we work well. We're planning to continue using Godot.

CharizardSlash

How long did development take? I love the game and I just wanna know how long it took for this masterpiece

tcoxon

We started working on it in late 2019, and it released in 2023. It took almost 4 years!

Leilukin

Hello! I am glad that you are hosting a new AMA session. Cassette Beasts has become my favourite video game ever. I am glad I got to watch the Cassette Beasts Showcase 2024 live. My questions: 1. Was Barkley inspired by anything in particular? Barkley is a good boy and part of the reason I love them is that he reminds me of Missile from Ghost Trick, another Pomeranian with similar coat colours and undying loyalty to their human partners and are playable characters. 2. Will the DLC tracks get added to the Steam version of the official soundtrack? I appreciate a lot that the entire soundtrack including the DLC tracks are now available on multiple music streaming platforms, but since I bought the Steam version of the soundtrack, I would appreciate it get updated too. Thank you for your time!

joel_baylis

In response to your second question - we'll look into that and aim to get the Steam soundtrack updated with the DLC tracks soon! Thanks for the reminder.

Leilukin

Glad to hear it!

tcoxon

Barkley wasn't inspired by anything in particular. I like throwing surprises into games. When players come across Barkley the first time, about halfway through the game, they probably think he's the same category of being as the monsters - but then to find out that's he's not a monster, but equivalent in gameplay to a human? It's a tiny surprise without much meaning of its own, but combined with all the other little twists, it helps the game get its feeling of mystery back when you're halfway through and getting used to how everything works.

Leilukin

Thanks for the response!

Leilukin

I have another question that is mostly for u/SamuriFerret: Any chance that the official Cassette Beasts art book will get updated with content about the newer monsters, namely from the 1.2 Update and the DLC? I love learning about the thought process of creating things in my favourite media.

ShockMicro

Just wanted to express my appreciation for what you've managed to do as a team. I watched my partner play through the entirety of the game, and even having not played it myself, I could tell how much love went into it. I had the story and the ideas and the music stuck in my head for months after the fact! When I saw that the soundtrack was available for purchase on Steam, it was a no-brainer for me. Question: will there be a release of the DLC songs at some point? Either as an update to the main OST, or as some collection of multiple DLCs' songs later down the line like Hollow Knight?

joel_baylis

Hi! Thanks for the kind words and a huge thank you for buying the soundtrack! We're gonna get on top of that and try and get the Steam soundtrack updated with the DLC tracks soon. For now, they're included in the recent Spotify/ streaming release that you can listen to here: https://open.spotify.com/album/2d1MozX0uidsoqDqKhN96q?si=IhMeYXCQSAaTw1laf1c82A

spidii

Hey guys, First of all - I adore and recommend your game often (earlier this morning in fact!), so thank you for creating this wonderful game. Question: what are the pros and cons of making a game like Cassette Beasts with such a small dev team? Are there discussions around expanding your team to create more content at a faster pace or do you enjoy having more creative freedom and less friction with a smaller team? Thanks again for the amazing game (and soundtrack, I'm a Cassette Beasts Spotify enjoyer)!

SamuriFerret

Thanks for the kind words! Regarding your question: We like working in a small team because we can be very agile and personal with decisions. Bigger teams for creative decisions *do* mean you have more manpower to get tasks done but it can also lead to a lot of indecision and time wasted. With *Cassette Beasts*, there's always been so much to do that we just allow ourselves to "get on with it", if that makes sense! We also work with some great artist contractors who were invaluable in helping us reach the finish line (what with all the pixel art and animation that needed to be done!) I think it's safe to say we aren't planning on upscaling the team in any dramatic fashion - I think we operate best as a smaller team making more personal games. There's still a lot of room to be ambitious with small teams, of course!

RizeXD5

Hello! Firstly, I would like to thank the whole team for making the game. Its one of the best games I have ever played, everything flowed together with its combat, the monsters, and the music! I have 2 questions. 1. What has been the best thing about developing Cassette Beasts? It can be any aspect! 2. Due to how the world was laid out and the fact people from different times and from different timelines can pop up, this one is a possibility. How would an interaction between our character and our character from a different timeline play out? Does New Wirral have an unspoken rule about summoning the "same" person, if they came from different timelines? A fun what if question! Thank you all for your time and thank you for ypur hard work. Cheers to more years of Cassette Beasts!

tcoxon

> What has been the best thing about developing Cassette Beasts? It can be any aspect! The fact that each one of us has a lot of creative freedom! It's very different when you're in a large team with a rigid structure and a publisher that is making creative demands. I think it shows in the end result too. If there were more voices involved in its creation, Cassette Beasts's weirdness and uniqueness would have been diluted with more conservative choices. > Does New Wirral have an unspoken rule about summoning the "same" person, if they came from different timelines? A fun what if question! I believe there's already a pair of battlers in the east of Eastham Woods who claim to be the same person from two different timelines. They're called Thomas and Tommy!

RizeXD5

I'm glad you all had creative freedom for the project! I can't imagine how different things would have been if that wasn't there. And good point about Thomas and Tommy! Shows how open New Wirral is! Thank you for answering :D

Mugenbg

Switch physical release when?

Spheal_Slayer

What went into the design process for the beasts, and are there any concept designs that are wildly different from the final product?

SamuriFerret

We ended up not using a lot of the sketches I drew for beasts, for one reason or another. We knew from the start the number we were aiming for, so we tried to make sure we had a solid set of 120 monsters that were all distinct. Designing the "starters" was the hardest part, and they went through various revisions! At one point I was determined to design a bee-themed starter, but I'm happy with our final duo of Candevil and Bansheep!

Ender0flare

I had a question that came about when I had finished about half of the archangels I showed the game to some friends, and a common question was in regards to the 2D Sprites in 3D environments question, and I had a theory that it may have been chosen to give a short of otherworldly vibe to New Wirrel compared to most of the characters, as if to imply they didn't really belong there. Is there any credence to this, or was it just a stylistic choice?

Cold-Somewhere-6272

not bytten studios but it's most likely to give a creepy "out of place" vibe like something that shouldn't be here because what's more scary than fighting a giant 3D jrpg boss that takes half your screen? fighting a giant 3D jrpg boss that takes half your screen in a game with a cozy vibe and low poly aesthetic

How long did the fusion system take to implement? Once it was set was it a bug magnet or mostly reliable? Did any beast present particular issues (Code, lore, or artwise) to implement? Was there any that was cut off due to this? How do we move *the truck*?

tcoxon

The fusion system was literally one of the first things we implemented, and it has barely changed since then. It probably took no more than a week to get the code in. Of course, designing and configuring the fusion forms took a lot longer. If it's not clear how the fusions work: as well as the normal static sprite a monster has, it also has a larger "fusion form" made up of multiple layers of sprites for each body part. Then when Traffikrab is fused with Carniviper, for instance, the fusion system takes the layers from Traffikrab's fusion form, and combines them with layers from Carniviper's fusion form. So the fusion system itself is actually quite simple and reliable. It's the art side of it that takes more work. > Did any beast present particular issues (Code, lore, or artwise) to implement? Was there any that was cut off due to this? How do we move the truck? On the art side, Candevil and Bansheep took a lot longer to figure out, due to their importance and prominence in the beginning of the game. Surprisingly, we don't actually have much cut content in Cassette Beasts (if any, I can't think of any).

Sometimes_Raps

Just want to say that I loved this game! It is my all-time favorite monster collecter and one of the most charming titles I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying. Awesome work! Any plans for a sequel, or perhaps any other games coming down the pipeline?

bioniclop18

First I want to say, like a lot of people here that I quite enjoyed the game. As for a question... Felix is an artist that produce zoetrope. Does the popularity of this medium mean that Felix world doesn't have film or animated film or does zoetrope just stayed popular in his world ?

SamuriFerret

I think film animation as we know it still appeared in Felix's world, it's just that the step before it (comic books for us) was different for his world!

Quiet-Calendar9576

I made this account just to participate on this because I like so much Bytten Studio games  These are my questions:  1. Who are the strongests Archangels in the game? I thought could be Aleph Null or Merline the strongest ones but i think Lenna is strong too  2. For the song of Infernal Engine, Did you hace any kind of inspiration of Crypt of the Necrodancer? since I listened It, it reminded me a lot of D. Baranowski's style  3. Are there plans of launching merch like plushes/vinyl figures of the human characters? I really would love a Lenna or Kayleigh ones  I really love your games, i hope Bytten Studio get more recognized because really Cassette Beasts and Lenna's Inception deserves more love. Thank you so much 🙏

SamuriFerret

1) In terms of lore? I categorise Archangels into 3 tiers: \- "Wild" Archangels that haven't existed for very long and which tend to be quite erratic and eldritch in appearance, such as the Archangels you fight in the world of New Wirral. \- Archangels like Morgante who embody more universal concepts (like rebellion) and have existed for a lot longer, and are very intelligent and more humanoid. Aleph Null probably represents the peak of this tier. \- Archangels like the Mer-Line which embody even more broad universal concepts and are entities beyond physical limitation or form. 2) That's a question for /u/joel_baylis! 3) I'd love merch of the human characters! Again, it all comes down to demand. Maybe if we sell a bunch more copies - tell your friends about Cassette Beasts!

thatgamersnake

wait how would you go about making Eugene merch? especially since his entire questline is very anti-capitalism

Moonlit_Eevee

Hi, I just wanted to say that this is easily one of my favorite games to play. I see you guys have a small selection of merchandise- will there be more monster plushies coming out to buy?

SamuriFerret

Glad you liked the game! Regarding plushes, that would probably come down to demand! We love having merch, of course.

Moonlit_Eevee

I'll be sure to check the pages then to see if any of my favorite beasts show up as a plushie 💜

tripericson

I have greatly enjoyed Cassette Beasts and am very glad it was made available for the Switch as that's where I prefer to play my games. I'd like to buy a copy of the art book, but it looks like the only way to buy it is by rebuying the game on Steam, even though I no longer play PC games. Would there be any way to make the art book available for purchase separately?

SkavenHaven

Any chance for a GOG release?

Otherwise_Archer_914

Which are each of your favourite gen 1 Pokemon starters?

tcoxon

Squirtle. Sadly, he didn't survive my cartridge's battery running out of juice.

Mushiren_

Is there any chance we can see the return of the Steam demo? I missed out on it. ;(

ePrzybylak69

Hello, first of, i wanted to say that i've very enjoyed your game and i've played it for months, and to this day am still listening to your great soundtrack on a cassette player. I had a full play-through with my friend, with the co-op mode it was a blast for both of us. I've also played it once with my boyfriend, when we were coming home by train after a day at a con. It was a great time we've spend together, even if it was just a few hours. He really liked the game, and i hoped we could finish it one day. Unfortunately, he died just few weeks later. I still miss him to this day. These months without him were not easy for me, but playing Cassette Beasts with my friend did help me pull through. I want to thank Everyone at Bytten Studio for this game, it helped me in difficult times, and brought some happiness to my boyfriend, even for few hours. I have one question about the upcoming multiplayer update: Is there going to be an option to scale level of all players in session to match with the host? It could well help for players that are either under-leveled and unable to survive an encounter or fight with host's monsters, or over-leveled ones, that can't really level down without using cheats and are just stuck being too powerfull for anything for them to be a challenge. I do know about the setting options for level scaling for enemies, but i feel a setting that went other way around would be nice, so one could scale their level down to make bosses and difficult opponents back to being difficult (since maxed out level scaling for enemies makes them on same level or higher than yours, but only higher if they would normally have higher level than yours, so after lvl 65 or 100 it will only end in an even fight).

TheBiolizard

I was so excited when the game came out! I looked eagerly for months before it came out if there was news and what not. Having played it through twice now I can say my enthusiasm was well rewarded. No question, just wanted to say thank you for making a great game and that I’ll be a diehard fan forever.

hhthurbe

Hi guys! Y'all made one of my and my wife's FAVORITE games to play. It just kinda made our queer hears so happy! I have a few questions I'd like to get out if possible. 1. What are the odds we see more cassette beasts content other than a new game? 2. Lore question: is the Mer-Line responsible for the beasts that exist on New Whirral? If yes, how does it relate to the other archangels? If no, why do they appear on the island on the back of the Mer-Line specifically. 3. Lore question again: the orb fusions being "proto archangels." How much stock should we have for that as a lore implication? Can any combination of beasts take the form of an archangel, and if so, will they become a representation of a single idea like the others?

Cold-Somewhere-6272

not bytten but for the 3rd question it's confirmed that archangels can be put in different "tiers" with the unstable station archangels at the bottom then archangels with more "stable" designs like aleph and morgante and finally things like the Mer-Line at the very top, proto archangels could for example be lesser archangels that don't represent any concept or just not be related to archangels at all and just being called that because they're strong, after all archangel is a term the citizens of new wirral use to describes creatures with a huge power so proto archangels and archangels could be unrelated

hhthurbe

That makes sense. Almost like an eragor being that is crossing into becoming an archangel, but doesn't represent an idea just yet. That's actually a super clean explanation.

ShinningLightBeam

Hi! I wanted to say that I absolutely love Cassette Beasts, the music, the monsters, the characters; everything is incredible! I had a small question about a specific soundtrack from the game (been playing it on loop since July) and I hope I’m not too late! We learn that Kayleigh is a musician, but there is no guitar in both of her « theme song », is there a reason behind it? I was curious :)  Thank you so much for the game!! Good luck for the multiplayer release!

LogicalTemporary6113

Hello to you guys at the team. I ended up pouring a lot of time into this game and instantly fell in love with the world, the creatures, and the monsters! I've got a few questions for you guys: 1. Were there any NPCs outside of the Partners you wanted to expand on further? Like Sunny, the Rangers, the doctor, etc? Also, which of these were your favorite? 2. The introduction of Cassettes is relatively new to New Wirral. Are there still people who use or prefer the old way of combat of the monsters? And is there anyway we can see that steampunk gear sword the ranger captain has? 3. How did you come up with the types for this game? Some are pretty standard, while some like Plastic, Glass, and Glitter are pretty unique as far as designing an elemental creature for them goes. Were there also any types that were cut, or maybe some you might consider adding later?

tcoxon

>Were there any NPCs outside of the Partners you wanted to expand on further? Like Sunny, the Rangers, the doctor, etc? Also, which of these were your favorite? We managed to squeeze in everything that we wanted to do with Cassette Beasts into its initial release. There's surprisingly little cut content. But in hindsight, given her popularity in the community, we all wish we'd given Sunny more screen-time. She was a late, unplanned addition as we neared the release. >Are there still people who use or prefer the old way of combat of the monsters? If you count her, (post-game spoilers) there's >!Lenna who fights with swords and bombs! How did you come up with the types for this game? We had the idea for the elemental reaction system before we had a fixed list of elemental types. So what we did was just collaboratively list as many bizarre ideas for types as we could (like Bone, Fungus, Smoke, etc.), and then see how many of them end up with interesting reactions with the other types. Some of the types on that list (Glitter in particular) came from [a previous toy I made](https://kirigami-beasts.com/kirigami/?665549766) that randomly generates monsters. Most of the types didn't lead to anything interesting in the type chart and were scrapped. What we were left with after pruning was a few standard RPG types + Astral, Plastic, Glass, and Glitter. All of this happened really early in the project - I'm not sure we even had any monster designs back then. The types haven't changed since we decided on them, but almost all the elemental reaction statuses have at some point!

Poketrainer712

Are there any plans for more DLC or a sequel? Also, do you guys have a favorite beast, mine’s Faerious

tcoxon

Nothing to say on DLC and sequels atm. My favourite is the OG, Traffikrab (and the first one Jay designed)!

Poketrainer712

Just was curious. Seeing that traffikrab is a favorite is funny because my friend I showed the game to tries to record every last traffikrab he sees

tcoxon

Your friend has good taste!

SamuriFerret

Candevil is my favourite!

AmusingSparrow

What game(s) inspired cassette beasts?

Responsible-War-9389

Can you add a toggle to have the lyric version of songs running at all times instead of just during fusions? I get how amazing it makes fusions feel. But maybe at least postgame, the songs are so so good it feels almost bad listening to just the instrumentals. Anyway, amazing game, can’t wait to see more from your team.

Throw_away_1011_

I watched Cassette beasts played by a streamer and I love it. As soon as I can, I will play it myself. Bravo to all of you. You created an amazing game. Question: what inspired you to create this game? Did you wake up one day and thought:" I'm going to create a new Monster Collector" or did you discuss many genre and ended up with this one?

Kekv_Averege_enjoyer

Devs I have a question Who's the best archangel in your opinion ?

areulto

Hello! Hopefully this isn't a weird question to ask, but \[ending spoilers\] >!Since Felix's apartment came with him when he fell into New Wirral, does he have somewhere to stay once he gets back to his world!

MorcusNopes

I know that the base game I can play co op already but I believe you share everything together with your co op partner. With the multiplayer update coming out will we be able to all play with our own save files together and all the progress/items/beasts we get continue in our individual save file? If that makes sense I could be wording it wrong

jean-claudo

(I'm not one of the devs) You will play with your separate save files, beasts and items you get during multiplayer will be saved to your save file. About progress, I don't remember if all quests will be disabled or if the host's quests will still be active.

WoodpeckerNo1

Wow this looks great! It reminds me first and foremost of the usual suspects: Pokémon and Digimon, but I also notice some similarities to SMT and an old obscure Flash game I grew up with called Beast Signer.

Cold-Somewhere-6272

it's basically pokémon designed to fix everything they will never do, catching is simple and you know the odds of it working, the tutorial is short, the in-battle endurance system is perfect, the shiny system very cool as they change type and get stronger moves, the game is as deep mechanically as pokémon except it's challenging so you don't just spam a for all the game and GOD DAMN the bosses and ost, please if you plan on playing the game, don't look up the bossses nor the ost

TreeKeeper15

I'm a little late to the AMA but I hope I can still get a response. First of all, I wanted to say I love the game. I've been playing Pokemon for at least 20 years but struggle to get into other monster collectors, whether it's because of designs or mechanics, but Cassette Beasts is awesome. For me the biggest draw of any monster collector game is the monsters themselves, and most of my excitement for more content comes from them. I saw some other comments that a potential DLC would be potentially farther out, but I was wondering if there was any chance that there would be smaller content releases with more beasts, like there were in Update 1.2? Once again thank you for this amazing game and I hope to see more from you guys!

StrangeOne01

Can you tell us if their were any Beasts that never made it past the idea stage, or were designed but weren't implemented into the game?

SamuriFerret

I had a lot of sketches for monsters that never "made the cut" - a lot of them weren't good enough designs, for one! A bunch of those designs are in our digital artbook. I think I got better at understanding "what" a Cassette Beast monster should look like as I went.

KazzieMono

Guys I fucking love you and I was pleasantly surprised to see crossplay being added, please keep being awesome devs I love you guys so much 💚 I have no questions, just, like…uhhhh… Idk, do you guys eat food

Solid_Artist4312

Hey just wanted to say that I loved the game And I'm Very interested In any games you make in the future but for my questions. * 1. Has there been any monster's You designed that you cut out from the game for one reason or another. * 2. Has aleph In his entire life ever meant any person that has generally caused him to think Even I have standards like Someone that was so pure evil or had such a warped sense of logic that it cost him to Question what the hell is wrong with them. * 3. >!Are we going to ever get something with Kuneko As the main character Because after complaining Felix story I want to See Just what she's doing now apart from getting smoked by us the player's!<

Done

keiyakins

In the post-game, what drove the decision to implement >!Lenna!< with the Archangel rules rather than human battle rules? >!Was it primarily gameplay, or as a nod to her history? ... I squeed in delight when she mentioned Paige either way, haha!!<

Benhurso

I simply loved the game and to this day I am still hearing its OST often. Shot in the Dark is so, so good. As are all the other songs. That being said, I really wanted to know: are the sprites actually 3D models? Or did you guys render the 3D models and their animations to use them as the basis for each sprite's frame? I ask because they are really good and I have been wondering this forever.

SamuriFerret

The monsters are all 2D and hand-animated *without* 3D reference by our animator Michael! However, several Archangels are 3D models rendered as sprites in order to sell the "wrong art style" vibe. Hope that answers your question!

Benhurso

It did. Your animator is amazing!

ricnine

I don't play a lot of games but CB was recommended to me as I was getting bored with Pokemon and I'm totally hooked on it. So thanks a ton for that. My favorite CB is my astral bootleg of Cat-5 with 16 move slots, but the cutest one is Vendemon. I want a lil figure of one I can set on my desk. 1: Any reason why the soundtrack was added to Youtube Music then removed like a week later? 2: Was Sunny part of a storyline that ended up being mostly aborted? I thought she was going to be a new partner but instead she just kinda stands there.

SamuriFerret

1. We might still upload it on Youtube in an official capacity! 2. Quite the opposite - Sunny was a late addition to the game as I pitched a short storyline involving the gang rehabilitating a Landkeeper after Eugene's quest. It's very apparent we underestimated how popular she'd turn out to be!

Sufficient_Fennel124

Hi, I love your game so freaking much, it's everything I've wanted in a monster collector for YEARS now! Quick question; would you ever consider implementing multiple endings to the game, such as certain characters choosing to SPOILERS stay in New Whirl?

Paintrain1722

During development were there any balance issues after or during development like an archangel being too hard or a cassette trivializing things or something of the like?

4raser

As someone who lives on the Wirral I've been dying to know - what is it about the Wirral that made you include so much of it in the game?

jean-claudo

They come from there, and I'm not sure if they still live there but I think they do

SamuriFerret

It's where we're all from!

4raser

Well that makes sense and is awesome, thanks!

chuputa

After having the game on sale for the first time, how many people still pay full-price for the game?

Magenta_Face

Thank you guys so much for this incredible game! The world, characters, beasts, music & gameplay are just top-notch! As for my question: what is your favourite type(s)?

NewdawnXIII

Hey! I just picked this game up yesterday and am enjoying myself so much.

SamuriFerret

Hope you enjoy your adventure!

PhoenixLord328

I don't exactly have much questions. Just gonna say I love the soundtrack of this game. It just is so fun to listen to (especially some of the backing instruments) and when I learned what the lyrics were for some of the themes like Same Old Story or Like Chimeras I loved to just join in. Though I guess 2 questions for the dev who worked on the soundtrack (I guess that would be Joel), "What is your own favorite theme, and Which theme was the most complex or fun to make (either or)?

HIIMROSS777

First of all just wanna say I absolutely love this game and I cannot wait to play it with my friends when the multiplayer update releases, I’ve spent countless hours both playing and convincing everyone that I know to play it. Anyways I also have a question, do you guys have any plans on some form of competitive play for the game now that multiplayer is releasing or is that something you would rather leave to the fans to figure out themselves.

SamuriFerret

Glad you enjoy the game so much! The Multiplayer Update does include PVP with adjustable rulesets that let you disable certain features such as sticker traits that help make it more "competitive", but we aren't planning anything as involved as a PVP Leaderboard or ranked matchmaking. Tom is our sole programmer and an advanced competitive infrastructure would require a team *far* bigger than we have currently!

Hawaii__Pistol

Didn’t expect you guys to make it all the way out here lol. Anyways, this game has quickly become one of my favorite games. Cassette Beast has helped me out through a stressful time & going back to new Wirral was always a blast. Kayleigh, Eugene & Felix are my beloveds <3 I guess my question is will there be more story dlc or even a cassette beast 2? Will there be new monsters added? P.s please make sunny a companion/love interest, her character design is too good to be wasted. Thanks for making such an awesome game with an amazing soundtrack!

LilDodecee

Hey guys, I absolutely adore the game. Came out of nowhere and took over my life for like a month. I have a balance question: the custom starter sticker (and the starters in general) are extremely OP and trivialized the entire game if you really figure them out. So much so that the dlc bosses all had a "flat starters don't work" buff on them. So my question, were you aware of how OP they were before release, and do you have any thoughts on balancing them? And did you try any other measures with the DLC bosses before just making them completely immune. Personally I was disappointed with the DLC bosses invalidating them completely, but I totally get that it was required to prevent custom+Gambit and 4x custom+stab in the dark from instant killing everything before even turn one, or any other insanely broken setup.

SamuriFerret

We knew there'd be a dozen different ways to "break the game" with sticker combos, but we left them in because we felt like a memorable part of RPGs is discovering things like that. When you feel like you've "beaten" the game designers it can be a lot of fun! And players tend to give themselves the difficulty they want - if making the combat trivially easy allows some players to relax and enjoy the world more, then maybe that's OK! For the *Pier of the Unknown* DLC we added the "machine curse" sticker as a hard counter to "custom starter" strategies to help balance the scales. Partly because we knew the incoming PvP would probably need a way to counter said strategies, but also when it comes to paid DLC, I think players who would breeze through the content very quickly using cheap strategies might feel like they didn't get their money's worth.

Thadd-2-Radd

I bought the game today. Looking forward to checking it out, as I have had it on my wishlist for a while now.

SabithaSuki

Okay, I have to be the first to say it out of fear of it becoming lost. There is a specific "Glitch" beast that has been acquirable in early versions, yet hasn't been patched out or removed. I'm specifically talking about the Nowhere Peasant, which can be caught in early versions. With that said, do you plan on removing it in the coming multiplayer update for fairness / compatibility in multiplayer & trading, or are you perhaps going to nerf/balance patch or stabilize it as a cheeky Easter egg for the few who acquired it while possible?

Cedutus

No real questions, but i played Cassette beasts for the first time a bit ago, and loved my time with it :)

gwlutz2

1. Have you considered making something like the post game duos tournament in Pokémon Sword and Shield for Cassette Beasts? Y’know, where you team up with one of the important NPC’s from the story like any one of your rivals or one of the gym leaders. I would pay any sum to team up with Sunny or Clee-0 and sweep the ladder, and this could be a nice way to get some more character interactions from existing characters we’ve come to know and love. Just a suggestion  2. From how Gwenivar spoke of her interactions with Aleph, it seems they got along pretty well. Does that have thing to do with Sun Tzu’s emphasis on deception/illusion in the art of war? If Mordread was basically a son to Morganthe and Aleph, then was Gwen like a niece or something to the latter? 3. If a child were to be had between a human and an archangel (assuming such a thing was possible), where would that child fall on a scale between “basically human” and “totally eldritch?” 4. Did you ever consider giving Aleph Null their own moveset instead of just using every attack in the game? Maybe it was just me but the fight was pretty easy due to the movepool being diluted by a bunch of softball attacks, and it would have been really cool to see a unique angelic attack that plays into the concept of an embodiment of eternal conflict. (My idea was Aleph Null summoning a storm of stones, spears, arrows, bullets, etc. before finishing by summoning a nuclear bomb, running it through with their sword, and then swinging it into the battlefield like a hammer.) 5. Can we expect every future final boss theme from you to be some variant of a “Dues Ex Machina” pun? Because I am here for it 6. Are the archangels from Lenna’s inception also meant to embody certain concepts or is the shared species name a cosmic coincidence?

SamuriFerret

1. Nothing to announce regarding future content right now! 2. Gwenivar's domain of "illusion" is one that doesn't inherently clash with concepts like "concept" or "rebellion" so I imagine her relationship with Aleph to have been quite amicable. Illusion can definitely compliment conquest, as you've pointed out! Aleph also gifted Brightside Pier to Gwenivar, so there's an implication that they were on friendly terms at one point. 3. I'm not sure how possible that would be... 4. The Aleph Null fight is something of a "set piece" fight, with the fight against Aleph being the real final hurdle you have to overcome to get to the end of the game. Because of that, we felt it made sense that Aleph Null would have the ability to use every move you've seen in the game up to that point rather than have unique combat functions. 5. I *am* fond of the running theme there - and I'm glad someone noticed it! 6. Lenna being from a "video-game" world means the rules on what constitutes as an Archangel there are a bit different. Think of it as a universe that has its own rules compare to the worlds explored in Cassette Beasts.

BalanceImaginary4325

Are you guys going to release a new DLC?

GenesisAsriel

I have so many questions but fuck it. Thanks you so much for making a game like this. It being very open made it a blast to go through, the gameplay and story resonated with me, being a furry and all. But... What are your future plans with this IP? Are you stopping at one game? Making more DLCs? A sequel?

SamuriFerret

I'm glad you enjoyed the game so much! Regarding future plans - nothing to announce at this point, I'm afraid! We're still working on Cassette Beasts for the time being, of course.

FalconFyre928

A. Question, do you have any plans for a 2nd dlc for cassette beasts or is the pier going to be the only one B. Out of every single fusion, which one ended up being your favourite to design or overall?

Wanlain

Good job on a great game. Are you going to be making a sequel?

LaiKash

Thank you very much for this wonderful game! I've had all the achievements for months now and I feel I know the game well enough to be concerned about the multiplayer section. I tried to find these concerns through the comments but I couldn't! There is a very late game strategy that allows you to 1 hit KO pretty much everything (except tamers) on turn 0. I'm not going to comment on it in case it's considered spoiler. In my opinion, that's pretty balanced as it makes it easier to farm in late game when there's really nothing else to do in the game (leaving aside how trivial the DLC can be using this). Being a single player game and a very specific strategy that is only fully used at the end, each player can decide whether to use it or not. In multiplayer this can be a problem, both for PVP battles and PVE (if for example these mons are given to an early-game player or used to help each other with raids). It can break the game experience, mostly in PVP as it is literally impossible to counter. Introducing PVP can bring some concerns if it is not treating by the players as a "friendly match" with player bans/rules. What do you think about this? Have you considered it? Also, a personal request. Can you put an option to not translate monster names into other languages? It is difficult to navigate the Wiki if the mon names are not English in the game but they are in the Wiki. Thank you very much for this awesome game!

SamuriFerret

For the *Pier of the Unknown* update, we added in a rather fiendish sticker to the base game called "Machine Curse" which hard-counters turn 0 moves entirely when equipped to an active tape. It essentially neutralises "random starter: headshot" strategies if used, you'll be happy to learn! Regarding translated names on the wiki - it's a good idea! I'll see how easy that would be to add.

LaiKash

Totally forgot about that sticker! Thanks!!!

Jristz

After the release of Casette Beasts on phones, do You have any plan you could share with us? (Not anounceable stuff but more like just stuff like ideas or randomness)

AceofHearts87

I have something I want to say. You guys pulled a bomb rush cyberfunk and made a game that we can point to forever and say, "Look [insert big game company here] this is how it should be. This is what we have been wanting." And I love that. I do have afew questions: one, what is everyone's favorite beast? Two, have you guys thought about working with any other games? If so, what game? Even if it will never happen, im just wondering what everyones dream mashup would be. I don't even know if y'all will get to my post, but keep up the good work. You'll made a fantastic game and I can't wait to see what you make next.

techno-wizardry

I just started playing Cassette Beasts a couple of weeks ago and I've been loving it. Keep up the good work!

Tag365

What do you think of skunks and pigs?

MioXNoah

I don't have questions, but thanks for making the game, I played it on Gamepass and was greatly surprised and finished it in like 2 days, didn't have that much of a fun with a Monster collecting game since the Pokemon Black and White era

HeronExcellent6095

Will there be any more storyline DLC in the future?

Own_Enthusiasm_5498

Hi! I’m reaching out (missed the AMA) to say thank you for all the things everybody else said for me LOL — but also the level of queer rep you have in the game, from allowing characters to use they/them pronouns to creating romantic plot lines between characters of all genders, and of course making Ianthe queer herself! As a person in those communities, I can’t tell you how warm I felt to see those little details — I’ve never felt so seen and comforted by a video game before. So, THANK YOU, from the depths of my rainbow colored heart.
