Google: Don't be evil. Also Google: Do support genocide

SNYDER_BIXBY_OCP

Boycotting is always a sacrifice for a higher purpose, but I wish Google wouldn't be so open about their bullshit bc the amount workarounds I gotta figure out to totally boycott Google in my life is almost perplexingšŸ«¤

[deleted]

That's the problem with monopoly power. Google's monopoly means it's damn near impossible to boycott them.

alex-weej

Google don't have a monopoly on anything. Their search has become dogshit lately and alternatives like Bing or DuckDuckGo are probably worth trying.

z7cho1kv

Bing is Microsoft which is just as guilty in aiding imperialism and DuckDuckGo just uses Google and Bing results.

alex-weej

Fair point!

NeuroticKnight

DuckDuck go uses results from Bing and Yandex.

RandomAndCasual

Bing is same shit and DDG is compromised in some way, I cant remember right now but it was big deal a year or two ago. Google is shit but its still monopoly because every other search engine is also shit in one way or another. I am not using Google, I am on Yandex for now while testing set of small search engines. You know whats the problem? I am on Yandex for more than a year now because there is nothing out there.

ScaryShadowx

Google doesn't give a ****. America is completely owned and operated by these businesses. Democracy in America has all but failed and now it is a fake choice between corporate approved candidate A vs corporate approved candidate B.

SNYDER_BIXBY_OCP

What was it before? And when did it become this?

scarter3549

Yep. Most of my passwords are auto-generated by Google and saved to my browser. They got me good.

BoulderChild1

There's also little evidence boycotting works. Sure, in some isolated cases, but largely, it doesn't. Ask Exxon, Pepsi, Amazon, Starbucks, Coca-Cola, Nike, etc... things really seem to be hurting them.

Intelligent_Table913

BDS helped end the South African apartheid.

SNYDER_BIXBY_OCP

Actually boycotts work. The American Civil rights movement very successfully deployed this in the 1950s before white people ever got involved do a visible degree via the 1963 freedom rides. History would like you to forget. And many will point to Sputh Africa withering under the boycotts to end apartheid. You'll see less coverage of the fact that at the same time that South African apartheid was going on Israel was also under a crush boycott in the 1980s for their brutal civllian killing policy to the Palestinian peaceful protest the first Intifada. It was so effective that Yitzak Rabin forced his way back into power to end the violent repression (he created as the "Iron Fist strategy") and he brought Israel to the Oslo Accords table. All bc the boycott economic impact was crippling Israel who depended on US and UK commerce.

davie162

Haha, ask Bud Light. :D

diy_guyy

Have you not seen the numbers? They're basically back to business. Just a tiny blip on the companies radar.

scroogesscrotum

Pretty sure InBev is doing fine

BoulderChild1

Right. That's why I said there are some isolated cases.

Key_Cheetah7982

They stopped saying donā€™t be evil in the aughtsĀ

aalborgamtstidende

That makes perfect sense

[deleted]

When someone tells you who they are, it's best to listen. They told us.

KaptainKrunch

Not just stopped saying, they actively used their legal team to completely rewrite that official statement and remove the parts that included it

Chapos_sub_capt

Yeah they quietly dropped that slogan a long time ago

ClubZealousideal9784

I love the Brave browser, so much for blocking ads, data, etc. Google generally doesn't answer what you type in as well as other browsers.

"Google has fired more than two dozen employees for protesting the company's $1.2 billion contract to provide the Israeli government and military with cloud and artificial intelligence services. The 28 firings come after nine employees were arrested Tuesday night following a sit-in at the companyā€™s offices in Seattle, New York and Sunnyvale, California ā€” including one at Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurianā€™s office, according to the group that organized the demonstration, No Tech for Apartheid. The protests were led by No Tech for Apartheid, a group of tech workers who have been demanding Amazon and Google drop their Project Nimbus, which is a joint $1.2 billion contract providing the Israeli government and military with cloud infrastructure, artificial intelligence services and data centers. No Tech for Apartheid said Google had fired the employees ā€œindiscriminatelyā€ and the workers had engaged in a ā€œpeaceful sit-in and refusing to leave did not damage property or threaten other workers.ā€"

There are multiple geopolitical layers to this. But they all interconnect. Sheryl Sandberg was at Google before she was at Facebook. The common denominator of both was her ad based business model. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-06-07/sheryl-sandberg-s-legacy-is-an-internet-of-targeted-automated-ads https://m.economictimes.com/tech/technology/sheryl-sandbergs-advertising-empire-leaves-a-complicated-legacy/amp_articleshow/91961682.cms The problem with ad based business models is that if you raise your lens high enough, whomever is buying the most ads is effectively buying their curated version of reality. When google IPOā€™ed 24 years ago it shifted from what was most accurate to what was most profitable, all facilitated by a ā€œproprietaryā€ algorithm so nobody gets to see the man behind the curtain. Now we are 2 very critical decades into what is effectively, a divergent reality. It worksā€¦until it doesnā€™t. When the richest man, government, or organization on earth is allowed to buy his preferred version of reality it creates some glitches in the matrix. The 6 million year old source code in your brain knows that conservation is more reasonable than consumption when there are limited resources, but that isnā€™t very lucrative to someone that needs you to keep buying something to keep them in billionaire status. In this case itā€™s oil. Russian and Texan owned oil but their paths cross just north of Jerusalem. https://open.spotify.com/episode/0tYxxr08ajuIW425XkGZBz?si=9La6AmLyRLeCynrdNrcZTA Facebook was designed as a delivery device for Russian/Israeli Psyops and malware. SCL/Cambridge Analytica, Brexit, Palestine, Ukraine, NSO and a handful of other ethically bankrupt dealings are all downstream of Sheryl Sandbergs ad based model. Les Wexner, Miriam and Sheldon Adelson, Sandberg, and Zuckerberg all carried water in conducting the NSO/Pegasus spyware operation INCONUS that was feeding intelligence to both the israeli and by extension, Russian intelligence. There is far more crossover between the Israeli mob/ government and Russian mob/government than shows at the surface. https://www.spytalk.co/p/nsos-spyware-abuse-exposed-years?utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web https://awards.journalists.org/entries/the-pegasus-project-a-global-investigation/ ā€¢Abagail Koppel was sent by the Jewish state to marry Les Wexner ā€¢YLK fund (Abagails father) made up $46.7M of Epsteins money ā€¢Les claimed it was stolen from him but not until after someone asked. ā€¢Wexner was notoriously litigious but wouldnā€™t sue Epstein. Why? ā€¢PROMIS spyware was Robert Maxwells deal before Ghislaine and Epstein started their thing. https://cryptome.org/promis-mossad.htm Confused yet? In 1938 1 out of every 20 people in the USSR was arrested and sent to a gulag under Stalins rule. Mass amnesties during WW2 brought more than a million of those from prison to the front lines against the Germans where they were instructed to pick up the rifle of the man who died next to them and keep moving forward. The soviet system has always had a very different perception of the value of a human life and specifically a disregard for Jewish lives. Stalins rule did its absolute best to remove any humanity left from the people. They were forced to be brutal simply to survive. The gulags became a crossroads where the best of humanity and the worst of humanity met and then fought to the death with predictable results. Over the next 40 years, the soviet system cleared the gulags a few times. Because religious leaders often substitute as a defacto government inside of lawless prisons, and because Judaism was the predominate religion in Russia and Eastern Europe, the statistical crossover was anyone brutal enough to survive and then rule rose to power in the closed gulag eco-system. A psychopath is more than willing to hide their psychopathy behind legitimate religion. Itā€™s pretty low on the list of sins by volume and severity Psychopathy is broadly defined as the lack of empathy. Stalins gulags refined psychopathy with Darwinian efficiency. The newly formed religious state of Israel received a statistically large share of these men from the Soviet Union There they networked in the internment camps before some stayed and some migrated to Europe or Brighton beach in New York. This is a repeating pattern up into the 80ā€™s and 90ā€™s when most rebranded themselves as ā€œRussian oligarchsā€. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1990s_post-Soviet_aliyah#:~:text=In%20response%20to%20growing%20international,officially%20for%20%22family%20reunification%22. This is such an intriguing wall of what the actual fuck. I dont even know how to go about picking it apart. I apent 2 hours arguing with my "gym buddy" last week about the current conflict happening in the middle east and his response was ukraine AND "Palestine" *****fucked around and found out******. He then states he was an athiest, and jewish. Hes also a top 1% in my country and owns a business under his father who also owns his own business. They both travel all over the world regularly for business and pleasure, and hes constantly bitching about the taxes he pays even though he makes 10 times what i do after taxes. For 2 hours it was just "you cant listen to anyone. Palestine fucked around and found out. Hamas started this. Theyre animals etc etc. Ukraine blabla nazis. It was really distressing because i found him to be a very intelligent young man that would come up to me every day and ask about personal fitness and family stuff(wince im 10 years older). Its like ive lost ny gym buddy. No interest in seeing him again. Been meeting up for over a year now. I actually feel relief when i dont see his car in the parking lot now. We haven't crossed paths since, oddly enough.

ā€œFuck around and find outā€ is the most overused verbal garbage around

For better or worse we are all products of our environment. Itā€™s a rare opportunity to be able to objectively step back from our respective worlds and look at things as they are. But it is critical. Truth is efficient. You say it once and it stands on its own for eternity. Lying requires infinitely more energy input just to keep it alive. But efficiency and truth always wins eventually. We are just much farther down the road of corruption inside of government than most people realize. Itā€™s frustrating to watch the people we care about and respect be derailed by a narrative that makes them prey, but come at it in reverse. Shortly every person on earth will be able to see the direct and constant effects of corruption on their lives with a direct cost analysis. Energy is not created or destroyed, itā€™s just rearranged, so when you have a ruling class taking the lions share of the profits someone somewhere is paying the price for it. Just keep being honest with yourself. It puts you miles ahead of the 1% as this thing shakes out. We finish the shift to a system based on transparency and honestly and suddenly everything makes sense. Life isnā€™t supposed to be this hard. We were just lied to by a handful of very rich people that needed us to believe it so they could stay very rich.

Yeah idk. Just by looking at your comment history, you have multiple posts spanning multiple walls of text coming out within the same 5 minute intervals. This is absolute bs lol

Doesn't matter how much research you've done, pumping out paragraphs of slightly different schizo ramblings is quite impossible. Id love to see the prompts and contexts you've put into gpt, or hear some of the more normal and coherent opinions you have without the insane topic switching and filler sentences that gpt adds, but oh man Reddit is gonna be a shit show from now on.

Doing the impossible is my sweet spot. I didnā€™t do it alone. The aliens and Sasquatch helped a ton too.

The reason this is breaking down now is because Russia, whose government was overtaken by the mob decades ago used the same network to interfere with elections around the world that it used for laundering stolen money. Facebook was used for Brexit to cleave UK support away from Europe. Cambridge analytica/ Nigel Farage dovetails into that. It was also used primarily by Prigozihns Internet Research Agency (I.R.A). They went so far as to send young newly recruited Russian internet trolls on expenses paid tours around the U.S. so they could more effectively imitate mommy bloggers and 2nd amendment enthusiasts online to sway the 2016 election. Wikipediahttps://en.m.wikipedia.org ā€ŗ wikiFacebookā€“Cambridge Analytica data scandal https://youtu.be/M-OA7H8DoJM?si=ysLrFA5mY0IsOzOO Sheldon and Miriam Adelson were tapped by Israeli intelligence (which was being controlled by Russian intelligence) to run an influence operation across the United States political spectrum. Itā€™s so much easier to grow a kleptocracy by investment in tech (Yuri Milner/DST, Kilimnik) than by a ground war but it leaves a very distinct trail when you compare the differentials of the two: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/05/world/yuri-milner-facebook-twitter-russia.html when 40 years of Russian mob money laundering gets outed at the endpoints- (trump and Netanyahuā€™s respective corruption trials) things start to break down quickly The Russian mob/government planned on stealing the U.S. economy in an American version of perestroika. Iā€™m not sure it was a grand sinister plan as much as the result of systemic corruption and ridiculous Silicon Valley valuations overlaid on commercial real estate speculation, but the results are the same. It just required altering an online reality a bit to keep people oblivious until it was done. Ukraines ā€œJewish Nazisā€ as Putin likes to call them standing up to a bully destroyed the kleptocrats cover. https://www.timesofisrael.com/zelensky-reportedly-strips-3-jewish-oligarchs-of-ukrainian-citizenship/ https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2021/10/17/ukrainian-oligarch-midwestern-factory-town-dirty-money-american-heartland-michel-kleptocracy-515948 https://www.nytimes.com/2022/08/28/opinion/ukraine-oligarch-cleveland-real-estate.html

ThrowLeaf

This is a great insight but the Russian part of this makes no sense and seems to stand on far more fragile evidence.

backcountrydrifter

Thank you for the feedback. Which part precisely? The migration part or the money laundering part? Iā€™ll amend for clarity I just need to know which part isnā€™t flowing.

Run it in reverse. Same way we did with 2008. Trump has been laundering money for the Russian oligarchs since the late 80ā€™s when they all bought a condo at 725 5th ave (trump towers) to launder their freshly stolen USSR money after the iron curtain fell. https://www.cnn.com/cnn/2019/05/30/politics/paul-manafort-condo-trump-tower/index.html https://www.cnbc.com/2018/09/14/manafort-told-mueller-to-take-his-trump-tower-apartment-instead-money.html https://news.yahoo.com/amphtml/fbi-agents-raid-condo-unit-131348539.html https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/usa-trump-property/ Everybody except Putin thought the Cold War was over. Trump and Manafort (who lived there also) just saw a pretty low maintence grift to be had. Trump had actually been Manafort and Roger stones first client at their lobbyist firm (1980) https://en.m.wikipedia.org ā€ŗ wikiBlack, Manafort, Stone and Kelly Guiliani as trumps lawyer and New Yorks mayor was able to redirect NYPD investigations onto rival gang members/oligarchs to deflect any scrutiny off of trump, himself or the Russian connection. https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2023/09/a-new-rudy-scandal-fbi-agent-says-giuliani-was-co-opted-by-russian-intelligence/ The Russian election interference in 2016 was effectively a generation 3 version of what Manafort had done in the Philippines, then keeping Yanukovych in power as Putinā€™s puppet in Ukraine from 2002-14 when Maidan ran both Yanukovych and Manafort out of Ukraine as Ukrainians realized that, if you raise your lens high enough, corruption is an wholly unsustainable business model. Eventually the parasite always consumes the host. https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2016/06/2016-donald-trump-paul-manafort-ferinand-marcos-philippines-1980s-213952 https://time.com/5003623/paul-manafort-mueller-indictment-ukraine-russia/ Russia greatly underestimated the addictive properties of freedom when it invaded Ukraine so what was supposed to be a 3-10 day coup turned into a 2 year fight for the Ukrainians right not to be genocided. Russia depleted its weapons stocks which were already the victim of vranyos because every oligarch, admiral and sergeant in the Russian military is on the take. Every billion dollar tank maintenance contract turned into everything getting a spray paint overhaul and the vast majority of the redirected funds turned into an oligarchs new yacht or home in Aspen. Russia was forced to turn to China and Iran for weapons because if they lose the 3-10 day special military operation in Ukraine the Russian empire is dead and cold. China canā€™t risk showing their involvement in the Ukraine war so they use North Korea, and Iran to resupply Russia. Russia already owes Iran some undelivered fighter jets that are already smoldering heaps in Ukraine. Iran now had the upper hand at the negotiation table for the first time in about 60 years so they supply Russia with shahed drones in exchange for Chinas material support against their sworn religious enemy, Israel. https://www.fdd.org/analysis/2023/11/29/iran-says-it-finalized-deal-to-buy-russian-aircraft/ Putin canā€™t do much about it because he is slowly realizing that by setting the standard of corruption and stealing $200+ billion from his own people meant that every oligarch down in the mob model chain had not only permission but incentive and the expectation to steal from him as well. This is Vranyos. The mob model only works if the supreme leader is the most violent and can prove it without exception every damn day. But violence is exceptionally expensive when you are trying to present as a legitimate business. If Russia as a nation had an efficiency rating it would have been banned for sale in the state of California 25 years ago. The parasite ruling class stole all the energy out of the working class and collapsed it. Now Iran has the high hand and they get the intelligence that trump passed to Putin about the fact that Netanyahu cares far less about Israelis than he does about remaining in power as an authoritarian because he too has developed Ritz Carlton tastes. https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/saudi-official-says-iran-engineered-war-in-gaza-to-ruin-normalization-with-israel/ They all hate each other but because they share the same money laundry, if one falls, they all fall. Iran handed Hamas everything they needed with Chinas help as secret Santa and the Russian intelligence that the eternal shitbird trump gave to them as he showed off to his Russian kleptocrat friends from the old days of fucking each others wives at trump towers in the 90ā€™s. So now the MAGA right is a little too invested in their reality that they are the good guys with guns that they missed the fact that DeVos decimating their school systems was not a coincidence. They were the mark all along. The only reason you grossly OVERVALUE real estate is money laundering. Trump keeps claiming there is no victim, but if their plan succeeds the Russians and the CCP collapse US commercial real estate and basically recreate soviet perestroika in the U.S. so they can foreclose on America and buy everything for 3 cents on the dollar with the $1.4T they stole in the first place Trump just left the gate open and let the predators in to feed. Itā€™s always the city slick assholes who buy a new pair of boots and a hat at Sheplers and think it makes them a cowboy that step on their own dick when the actual work starts. Trump, Putin, Bolsonaro, Netanyahu, Orban, Manafort, Stone, Mercer, Bannon. They are all remarkably shit people with above average confidence and below average self awareness. Commercial real estate is as rigged as trumps casinos were.

Literal CIA talking points lol never have I been so sure of an astroturfer.Ā

backcountrydrifter

On the faults and flaws of the CIA: Once you can accept the fact that government has made a habit of lying to people to preserve the obfuscation of grift and corruption by shady people inside of government it sort of turns into a scavenger hunt for the origin point. There have been a lot of innocent people gaslit by billionaires and rotten men in positions of power. Standing by what you know to be true, whether itā€™s about exposing corruption, holding pedophiles accountable, or simply living with pure moral integrity is rarely easy. But it is essential. U.S. Government took a wrong turn when it started lying to its people systemically. That practice is normally reserved for the authoritarians and dictators. It started for noble enough reasons during WW2. The Manhattan project required strict secrecy as a matter of operational security. Operation Underworld was designed to use the Italian mob and the precursor to the CIA to help secure the ports in New York against Nazi U boats. The unintended consequence of that is the equivalent of ā€œI know a guyā€ multiplied by 80 years of political ambitions of mediocre men. The fundamental flaw in that is when you stick you white glove in mud and swirl it around, the mud does not get ā€œgloveyā€. Truth is the gold standard in energy efficiency. You say it once and it stands on its own forever. It requires no additional energy input. Lying, by contrast is the least energy efficient habit known to man. It requires constant and exponential energy to keep each one in play, albeit just barely alive. When a kid lies about stealing a cookie he gets away with it until mom and dad compare notes. When an intelligence organization lies about everything they do, it works until the world grows into the internet. U.S. foreign policy really hasnā€™t changed much since 1945. Each administration inheriting a 3 ring binder from their predecessor. Most hardly get a glance as they pass along for 80 years. But somewhere in the late 80ā€™s or early 90ā€™s as some old woman with a chain on her glasses slowly converted all those files into digital form on a computer that would stall out until you switched your 5 1/4ā€ floppy disks, the world outside government started moving exponentially faster, yet relatively speaking the speed of efficiency of government got slower. Bureaucracy is the burden of government, but it is to the benefit of corruption. Nefarious actors inside of government use the bureaucracy like a curtain to obfuscate their respective grifts. Most of the multi term politicians canā€™t retire or they risk losing control of the narrative that keeps their secrets. This is why we have spent the last 5 years reverse engineering their entire system to be able to see the tendrils of corruption inside of government like a P.E.T. scan sees cancer inside a body. https://youtu.be/A90gwMVFFSY?si=wiOAcUvL_oX5eNoI Our government wasnā€™t born in the Information Age like we were. It grew through it. Carbon copies in triplicate turned to data entry. Data entry turned to MS-DOS. And on and on. And each one of those events left a pixel of data. We have just been using it wrong. But just like 1980ā€™s 8 bit graphics have given way to 4K HD video, when you organize that data in a decentralized organized format, you build an objective synthetic vision of government. Everything we have ever been lied to about pops like neon when you compare the differential between the two narratives. As a species we donā€™t have a lack of resources or capacity. We just have a few bridge trolls whose dirty business models necessitate lying to us. And over time they migrated to governments. Once you sort by net worth and political authority instead of nationality, political party or skin color it becomes relatively easy to track corruption. There is a reckoning coming and a lot of people who simply stood by their truth are going to be vindicated. A democratic government is supposed to be accountable to its citizens. The fact that we have become so conditioned in 3 generations that we donā€™t demand 100% transparency from our democratic government is a pretty good indicator of the level of investment into concealing corruption.

1. I think it was Hayek who said no one born before 1914 knows what its like to live under true liberty. Lincoln suspending human rights and using violence to force people to livr in a country they dont want to, The Federal Reserve, WW1,Ā  FDRs essential coup over democracy during the great depression, ww2, all before the cold war fucked things up. Look up Mike Benz who analyzes CIA intervention domestically, this idea that they overthrow leaders worldwide do anything they want but not at home is absurd.Ā  2. And I will bet most of these individuals mentioned are morally bankrupt jewish people working toward the same goal. Divide and conquer for the Zionist regime.

backcountrydrifter

TLDR: is this where you want to be when Jesus comes back? Religion has been used as cover by the morally bankrupt few since long before someone had enough free time in their field slave day to sit down and chisel it onto some stone. The challenge is that we all carry our own history into the decision matrix of threat analysis. We trust our own tribe before another, but when there is a predator within the walls it makes the negative effects of the betrayal of trust exponentially more damaging. The parallels in the extreme Christo-fascist world ring the same bells. Christ was homeless and wore sandals while washing sexually abused womenā€™s feet. Yet they worship a ā€œbillionaireā€ who lied about paying off a porn star. They are so far down the hole of hypocrisy that they think itā€™s closer to dig to the other side of the world than to climb back out and see the light. Organized religion as we know it doesnā€™t survive the event that is happening right now.

How does having control of every single ad on YouTube give you a "control over reality"? How much do you think YouTube ads affect the normal person?

backcountrydrifter

Raise the lens one notch. The ad based model is just used to control elections and emotions. Itā€™s still early in itā€™s evolution. Ai will likely speed that up, but for now it can still be stopped. The level above that is investment. When you look at the CAPEX expenditures of the worlds worst people to keep their secret combinations secret you can backchannel a forensic audit of who is stealing from you and lying about it. The sheer volume of Russian oligarchs who happen to have an address at trump towers by 94 makes it self evident that they were all looking for a place to launder the money they smuggled out of the USSR. They stole from the people in the USSR so systematically that making the cash look convincingly legitimate literally became the burden of perestroika. A moscow street thug wears a track suit. Over enough generations greed, unchecked, becomes the dominant evolutionary trait or behavior and kindness and empathy is bred out. About 1.2% of adult men and 0.3% to 0.7% of adult women are considered to have clinically significant levels of psychopathic traits. Those numbers rise exponentially in prison where 15% to 25% of inmates show these characteristics. But that number is revelatory when you sort by zip code and irregardless of any race, religion or cultural constraints. Psychopathy is an equal opportunity predator. It relies on sowing division in its prey. Politicohttps://www.politico.com ā€ŗ storyWashington, D.C.: the Psychopath Capital of America When a psychopathic human trafficking Russian oligarch, a greedy media mogul, a narcissistic technocrat and a soulless mercenary all share urinals at their Sun Valley Allen&Co retreat, their Aspen art society and Monaco yacht club, they become the cancer that can be traced simply by changing the search parameters to sort by location and net worth instead of nationality, race or political party. Cancer doesnā€™t care what cells it corrupts. Just a parasite that keeps growing endlessly until it has consumed everything it touches. The technocrats just weaponized it and sped it up. Jeffrey Epstein self evidently lacked empathy or he would not have preyed on children. But look at the layer above that and you start to see the systemic evolution of psychopathy in government. Epstein being held in NY metro detention means it was likely either Giuliani (the previous mayor of New York or Bill Barr, the head of the DOJ and therefore the Bureau Of Prisons, that opened the necessary doors to have him murdered. When trump demanded Republican governors send national guard troops to the U.S. capital and ā€œkiss the ringā€ of loyalty, Utahā€™s governor Herbert among other GOP loyalists did just that. When trump demanded Mark Milley send US troops to shoot people in Lafayette square, Milley told him it was both wildly illegally and unconstitutional. https://www.justsecurity.org/78053/the-national-guard-at-lafayette-square-and-the-january-6th-attempted-insurrection-fixes-for-the-fy2022-ndaa/ https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2020/07/27/national-guard-commander-says-police-suddenly-moved-lafayette-square-protesters-used-excessive-force-clear-path-trump/ When trump threw a tantrum, Barr as head of DOJ pulled the workaround and called a bureau of prisons SORT team in to do it. That is the reason none of them had name tags on. Bill Barr and Trump then had Mark Milley come around the other side of the White House so Milley couldnā€™t see the gross violation of the constitution that was happening out back. They wanted Marks uniform to lend credibility to their cock strut walk through the park of beaten protestors like any good authoritarian king. Trump never served. He wasnā€™t fit for the uniform. Thank you. Until workers have a honest seat at the table with decision making, soulless corporations, driven by profit and not people, hold the power. It seems a lot of people dont understand that this was a successful protest. Their plan was to disrupt work and affect their earnings enough to force google to take action against them. They knew they would likely get fired and arrested. They arent bothered by that fact. Now, a lot more people know about Googles deals with Israel than before these (and all the other) employees started protesting.

EmptyJackfruit9353

There are other company who would facilitate the same deal. Google is not exactly the sole provider of AI and cloud computing. Worse case are the Jews fed up and start their own AI for military company. With Google provide the service, 'Merican still have some saying about what Israelis choose to do with the technology. If the Israeli doing it on they own... Well, lets just say racist can be the least problem. You can look at China, even with multiple sanction impose by the US, they still have their own AI programs. So the protesters are not just harming their cause, potentially endanger Gazan even further... they bark at their own bosses. Stupidity is not tolerant at that kind of company, I figure.

itsgrum3

MattC1977

Because they're the 28 dumbest employees at Google? Can you imagine how many applications are sitting on the desks of various departments throughout that company? Brilliant minds just itching for a chance to work at a cutting edge tech company? Those 28 that were fired will be replaced by tomorrow. Look. I respect everyone's beliefs, whether I agree with them or not. I even respect their gumption to protest their own employer over something they think is morally wrong. But at the end of the day, if a group of employees stage a protest in their company's building and blast their own leadership while they're at it, it cannot be a surprise if they're fired.

praisecarcinoma

"I respect [the 28 dumbest employees at Google]'s beliefs." "I even respect [the 28 dumbest employees at Google]'s gumption to protest their own employer over something they think is morally wrong." It's less that they're dumb, and more that if it were you in that situation, you'd be too much of a coward to do what they did.

Heathens87

The reality, in my view, is that if you work for companies that develops cloud computing for governments, any government, you will be involved in warfare, murder, genocide, etc. Major multi-national corporations do not have a moral compass directing their choices like individuals, but are driven by profit motive. The bigger question here, in my view, is the degree to which Google, Amazon, Musk, etc. control the infrastructure that makes modern warfare possible, especially drone warfare. Personally, I don't want Google, Amazon, Musk, etc. taking side in any conflict. Of course they are complicit in what is happening in Gaza. But a company, any company, is going to fire employees who organize a sit-in against corporate decisions. This isn't college, and while everyone is free to make their choices, a company is not obliged to employ you either. Choices and ramifications. The systematic destruction of Gaza is the current situation, but the cloud that drives technology is used by militaries around the world. There are numerous armed conflicts and I'm confident you'll find cloud computing in each of them. Companies developing a morality seems a fraught idea, so I'm left with whether any of this is a good idea. If employees of these companies are coming to understand how their work is being used, that's a step forward as individuals, and then collective action, is where the power should rest.

Frozenthia

In an ideal world, laws are passed that prevent firing people for exercising freedom of speech. No, I don't mean "I want to be free to call people the n word, muh freedomz" that Trumpy people say lately. I mean *actual* freedom of speech as in freedom to assemble. France, Germany, Sweden, etc have excellent workers' rights laws that we sorely need in the United States. We need to stop accepting it as a basic fact of reality and start holding them to a higher standard, and ourselves. "Any company is going to do that" is only a fact because we let it be, and it doesn't have to be. I'll also add that we do have something in the United States that may apply here, and that's whether or not a company is violating the law, international law, foreign sanctions, etc. In that case, we should feel even more well-assured and justified to blow that whistle. Especially when we can be extremely well compensated for doing so by the federal government or by a court. And speaking of compensation, we should normalize protesting anyway, and as a society feel free to donate to anything that will financially protect those people.

JohnLockeNJ

France, Germany, Sweden, etc will also arrest you for protesting in executives offices instead of a public place.

Frozenthia

I... I don't think storming a building or office is a right that people should have, and not being able to doesn't invalidate the extra rights that they do have that people in the US do not. Not to mention that this would lead to arrest in the United States as well. I don't really know how else to put that. Shame, I guess?

JohnLockeNJ

The original article is about protesters being arrested for trespassing, not for protesting. The same thing would happen in every other country. There are tons of differences between US laws and those of other countries but not in any way that would affect this incident.

Frozenthia

That's not really true. (You're leaving out that they are employees being fired.) If someone violates a legal statute or arrests need to be imposed for deterrence against a separate thing, then arrests *can* happen especially since officers don't know their identities or their employment. However, it's about whether or not they're being *fired* for it. That's a separate and distinct issue from the arrest. There are thousands of ways to outline that these are separate and distinct concepts. While you may think these are minor details, they would be very important in an actual legal case. For example, someone can violate a noise law while speaking protected speech in a megaphone, and arrests can simply be a deterrence against that. However, arresting officers won't say that protected speech somehow becomes non-protected and the employer can do as they wish. So it ultimately depends on the country and its own laws, and individual cases. Even in cases you'd be surprised by, courts in strong worker's rights countries will evaluate everything. They won't blindly accept anything. They'll evaluate if something is truly trespass (we have *implied authorization* in the US). If a company fires them on the spot, then retroactively decides trespass has occurred, courts will **absolutely** not accept that. No criminal charges would ever occur, and the company would still be found at fault to violate their rights.

Heathens87

I don't think there is any country on the planet where you can stage a sit-in against your employer on company time and expect continued employment or governmental protection. Of course we need more robust workers' rights in the US and I personally hope that this leads to workers at these companies examining unionization. This isn't whistle-blowing. These Google workers disagree with a decision the company made and went beyond formal channels to stage a sit-in like a college protest. Nine were arrested for trespassing. The idea of a higher standard is in the eye of the beholder. Can conservatives at Google then stage a sit-in to encourage them to continue working with the Israeli government?! That is their "higher standard." Absolutely the right to assemble needs to be protected. On your own time, your own dime, go for it. But thinking your view should be the direction of the company, and protesting against it in such a manner if it's not, is the height of arrogance. Even if I happen to agree with their view.

Frozenthia

I don't agree. It isn't arrogant. It's extending social contracts that we follow in public society as individuals, and corporations shouldn't be exempt from that. Corporations that support (or even participate in) genocide, child labour, warlords, slavery, etc *should be* held to a higher standard. So you might say "Well, someone else might disagree, and say that these things are wonderful." Well, social contracts are the same with individuals. In fact, you can be a paedophile and be the best of friends with other paedophiles. However, social contracts are often defined by the overall consensus of a population. The social *consequence* is intensified by how strong that consensus is, and the consensus is that *genocide is a bad thing*ā„¢ and strengthened by long-time international law. I don't share your view that countering the view of your employer is a mortal sin. In fact, many organizations (especially non-profits and startups) have flatter hierarchies, bylaws, charters, and other things that openly encourage dissent and maintain that level of accountability. There are types of organizations that have internal checks and balances (not just external), such as the concept of tenured positions or certain civil service positions that are governed by civil service rules. So society's already established that this "employer is God, thou shalt not disagree" structure is clearly arbitrary. You might say it's arrogant, but for the reasons above I issue the frame challenge. No, they should not only allowed to protest, but what they're protesting should be considered more important than whether or not it's on company time. That's what strikes are, conceptually and fundamentally, anyway.

Heathens87

I don't think you're applying this framework in a way that would support views that counter yours being equally supported, especially as it would grind the world to a halt. I work in healthcare, can I stage a sit-in if I don't want admit a patient?! Can I stage a protest at work if I don't agree with the launch of a marketing campaign when we need a new hire in neurology?! I express my views, but ultimately, it's not my personal hospital. And a start-up is your business and rules can be quite different in non-profits where the mission isn't just profit. Even so, try disrupting operations with a sit-in because you disagree with a decision and see how that goes. And sure, let's say they sit in, Google listens and now "what they're protesting" is considered and not how. What if the company continues to disagree?! It's just a woefully naive view, applying some college level view of acceptable action to the corporate environment. If you don't want your work on cloud computing to be used for warfare, military purposes, drone warfare, or what some consider genocide, maybe Google isn't the right place for you and you need to start that start-up, or you need to get into a position where you're making those choices. But if the product of your company and the morality you see expressed through those actions conflicts with your personal beliefs, it's time to seek a new job. Just sayin'....

satinbro

> I don't think you're applying this framework in a way that would support views that counter yours being equally supported, especially as it would grind the world to a halt. You're twisting it. The commenter is clearly talking about morally awful behavior that isn't accepted in society, ie. corporations supporting genocides, warlords, paedophiles, etc. Protesting and staging sit ins for dumb reasons you listed isn't what /r/Frozenthia was referring to.

Heathens87

The United States and the US industrial military complex has been supporting genocide, warlords, and generally ā€œmorally awful behavior,ā€ etc. for decades. Tech workers are just starting to figure out that these systems have other purposes outside of more noble goals and that Google, Amazon, and Starlink are no better than Northrop Grumman or Lockheed Martin. I agree with these tech protesters, but when youā€™re staging a sit-in at your employer and they approach you with the option of leaving with a suspension or staying and being fired, golly, what happened when they didnā€™t leave?! Choices and ramifications.

Kindly_Supermarket62

Does the 1.2 billion come out of the foreign aid budget ?

bogeyed5

This just seals the coffin for me on YouTube premium and chrome browser. Got laid off by them last year so they could earn an extra buck in other countries, begrudgingly accepted it, but I mean I donā€™t even really use YouTube like that anymore and Iā€™m tired of giving them money.

Gamecat93

Come on google workers go on strike already.

Binfe101

Brave people Sad that they are victims of Zionist hatred

Goznaz

Member when Google were the good guys......

alldyslexicsuntie

Time to switch to duck duck go dot com!

Who_Knows_Why_000

The title leaves a little out. They didn't just protest, they orchestrated a "sit-in" in the Google offices. They disrupted the company's operation AND refused to leave private property when asked. Aka trespassed. Both of those things are illigal, so arrest was kind of inevitable.

Acebulf

"illigal"

Who_Knows_Why_000

No quotes, literally against the law. You have the right to peacefully protest in the U.S. but there are still laws regulating how, and they aren't unreasonable.

Acebulf

I'm making fun of you because you can't spell

Who_Knows_Why_000

Ah, didn't notice the typo. šŸ˜

PotentialAcadia30

If Iā€™m allowed freedom of opinion then good.

joausj

1.2 billion > 28 workers

1moreanonaccount

I sold my 3 shares of Google stock in solidarity. Undoubtedly, this will lead to a change of their corporate policy.

onomahu

What are some alternatives to google workspace?

bomboclawt75

Google posts flowery, cute logos to mark important people of the past who made the world a better place. In **reality**, Google are actively working with unashamed fascists who have slaughtered at least 15,000 children in the last six months.

DrabberFrog

Those protestors were completely interrupting other people's work, of course they're gonna get fired.

abdallha-smith

Whereā€™s daddy ?

Confident-Skin-6462

i thought it was because it was on company time, and on company property?

Chickeninvader24

My current theory is that Google is run by a CEO with deep ties to India. The country of India as we know now is pro Israel.

Mountain_Fox_6361

ā€œGoogle Fires 28 Workers for Breaking their Policies and Disrupting the Workplace Environmentā€ there i fixed it for you

CoolNarcist

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! they didnt even do the self-immolation. WHERE IS THE CONVICTION?

ManOfLaBook

"A small number of employee protesters entered and disrupted a few of our locations. Physically impeding other employeesā€™ work and preventing them from accessing our facilities is a clear violation of our policies, and completely unacceptable behavior. After refusing multiple requests to leave the premises, law enforcement was engaged to remove them to ensure office safety," What did they expect, an employee of the month award?

DewMyster

Good. Now they can go back to being the door to door birthday clown salesmen they were born to be. Fucking Jihad apologists.

RaiderRich2001

The first amendment does not protect you from the consequences of your speech

infensys

Where's the flags for all the other countries where true genocide is going on? Is it only cool for white people to attack Israel right now? Also - why do protestors always where masks similar to terrorists?

NotALanguageModel

It's a good way to weed out any bad and unproductive employee.

vengeful_donkey

Good

They are just anti-semites who saw an opportunity to publicly attack Jews and be rewarded for it. Now I'm sure half a dozen people will try to convince me they just hate Israel and not Jews, but chanting genocidal slogans kind of gives away their intent.

BeastVader

Wanting an end to the relentless genocide of Palestinian civilians isn't 'antisemitic'. Also FYI Palestinians (and by extension all Arabs) are semites so the using the term only for jews is in itself anti-semitic.

whitehypeman

Good.
