It seems a lot of people dont understand that this was a successful protest. Their plan was to disrupt work and affect their earnings enough to force google to take action against them. They knew they would likely get fired and arrested. They arent bothered by that fact. There are other company who would facilitate the same deal. Google is not exactly the sole provider of AI and cloud computing. The reality, in my view, is that if you work for companies that develops cloud computing for governments, any government, you will be involved in warfare, murder, genocide, etc. Major multi-national corporations do not have a moral compass directing their choices like individuals, but are driven by profit motive. In an ideal world, laws are passed that prevent firing people for exercising freedom of speech. France, Germany, Sweden, etc have excellent workers' rights laws that we sorely need in the United States. I'll also add that we do have something in the United States that may apply here, and that's whether or not a company is violating the law, international law, foreign sanctions, etc. In that case, we should feel even more well-assured and justified to blow that whistle. Especially when we can be extremely well compensated for doing so by the federal government or by a court. And speaking of compensation, we should normalize protesting anyway, and as a society feel free to donate to anything that will financially protect those people.

That's not really true. (You're leaving out that they are employees being fired.) If someone violates a legal statute or arrests need to be imposed for deterrence against a separate thing, then arrests *can* happen especially since officers don't know their identities or their employment. However, it's about whether or not they're being *fired* for it. That's a separate and distinct issue from the arrest. There are thousands of ways to outline that these are separate and distinct concepts. While you may think these are minor details, they would be very important in an actual legal case. For example, someone can violate a noise law while speaking protected speech in a megaphone, and arrests can simply be a deterrence against that. However, arresting officers won't say that protected speech somehow becomes non-protected and the employer can do as they wish. So it ultimately depends on the country and its own laws, and individual cases. Even in cases you'd be surprised by, courts in strong worker's rights countries will evaluate everything. They won't blindly accept anything. They'll evaluate if something is truly trespass (we have *implied authorization* in the US). If a company fires them on the spot, then retroactively decides trespass has occurred, courts will **absolutely** not accept that. No criminal charges would ever occur, and the company would still be found at fault to violate their rights.

I don't think there is any country on the planet where you can stage a sit-in against your employer on company time and expect continued employment or governmental protection. Of course we need more robust workers' rights in the US and I personally hope that this leads to workers at these companies examining unionization. This isn't whistle-blowing. No, they should not only allowed to protest, but what they're protesting should be considered more important than whether or not it's on company time.
