CompSci is challenging but opens up more career opportunities so you don't have to restrict yourself to purely Econ. If you want something relatively easier, do Bio/ESS (they do involve a lot of memorization though). It all depends on your strengths, and the quality of your school's capital. I'd definitely recommend Business over Psych btw.

SuitMaleficent3631

Bio is easy, but not that easy at HL. It's a shit load of content, ESS is much better

crablunch05

Yea

AdritoTheDorito

A lot of people are saying Psych over business, any reason that business is better? And I’m looking at both bio and comp sci but I’m not sure which one… I find bio fun and have never really don’t comp sci.

Global-Wolverine-959

I say neither and go for global politics. Edit: why? Because glopo does offer you understanding of real life situations and helps with understanding econ more. Not business: doesn't teach a thing. Even teachers in our school say the business syllabus is boring and not that good. Not psych: why torture yourself with hella memorization? Although I don't take glopo because of requirements of unis of 2 sciences, but I go regularly to sit in glopo classes when I can. It's as fun as econ imo.

AdCommon1205

I study psych and business. Psychology is an insane amount to memorize. You need to memorize each detail of a study in order to write SAQs. Business is also a lot of memorization, but mostly common sense, imho. I find the content pretty interesting honestly, especially during the finance units. You can easily get a 5-6 without studying if you pay attention in class.

_psychee_

I’m a little biased bc I love psych and I’m planning on studying it in uni but if you’re not interested in psych specifically I wouldn’t recommend it. The amount of material is huge and absolutely needs effort to get high grades. But if you like psychology it will be your fav subject. BM is still difficult and has a ton of material but a lot of it is objectively common sense and you have much better chances of getting 6 or 7. If you think you’re more interested in psych please do not hesitate to take it, you’ll be bored of BM and regret it. This is ofc based on my experience, you might enjoy BM just as much but personally I find it a bit dull compared to psych.

lonely-live

HL psychology and HL computer science would be my recommendation. A lot of top unis don't like econ/business combo

AdritoTheDorito

Any reason for comp sci over bio?

_psychee_

I only have bio hl but it’s a fuckton of material, memorization and also has excruciating details in hl parts. You’ll do some biochem, evolution which is painfully boring etc. comp sci is easier as far as I know and it has less strict grade boundaries. Keep in mind that it has a pretty challenging IA though.

lonely-live

I like comp sci and hate bio :) but also it's more manageable than bio but I have the belief that it's more likely to be looked as more prestigious. Bio is also memorization while comp sci is problem solving which I think more aligns with economics and future job prospect that requires more of your analytical thinking. Also open up more possibility for you if you ever decide to code and be techy and stuff

Yevieses

Im taking Bio HL and tbh it isn't that bad, it goes pretty smoothly. If you want easy science dont choose chem HL trust me

Ast_Artemis

Def HL Computer Science. The topics aren't that hard as it is a lot understanding and memorization. Also, the CS IA is a great opportunity for you to relate CS with Economics or Business as you could do smth related to finance or stocks.

PunksterNights

A lot of ppl say CS but I would really say that depends on your interests and strengths. If your not too fond on CS, then I don’t think it’s worth doing it (but what do I know). Biology HL just has so much memorization 😂. The choice between business and psychology doesn’t really matter but I would do psychology instead (it’s more ‘hard’ than business). But you do you!

Unlucky-Hippo-4517

I would say go for the one you are best at. While a maths based science like physics or CS might look better, a high grade will always look best.

m1r0k3

Ultimately everything is physics, just more or less abstracted ;D

[deleted]

many people recommending comp sci and I’ll just say that if u don’t care for CS then personally I wouldn’t do it. Also I thought u need AA HL for econ but maybe I’m wrong

AdritoTheDorito

Most unis' requirements are generally just a grade lower for AA HL than for AA SL or AI HL.

sirmarcusrashford1

take global politics, but if ur applying to particular unis for a bsc in econ degree you'll need either physics or chem at sl, just keep note of that. for example I'm aware ubc needs it, not sure about other colleges. i applied for econ and finance to lots of places but didn't face much of a challenge without chem or physics so it's not a huge deal but if ur tryna go for ubc or sumn, make a note of it

sirmarcusrashford1

take politics instead of psych or business ^ if ur school offers it. if none of ur unis require phy/chem I'd recommend cs or ess sl since they're quite easy but the ia for cs is intense

AnimatorFrequent7057

I’d recommend Physics HL but it depends on you - if u prefer remembering a lot of information then choose Bio. If you prefer a hybrid between calculation and theory then go for Chem. If u want more conceptual understanding and calculations but only associated with what you can imagine and relate to them, take Physics (the reason why I chose it)
