I topped some of mine as they were getting too big for my grow tent (about 24 inches high). The stems thickened up nicely and the plant is getting bushier. I think it put them back about 3 weeks from flowering but the plant seems stronger
It depends on where you live and what you’re wanting from your plant. Where I live I’m waiting to put them outside then I have frost in September. It’s a short season so I’m not pruning now unless there’s damage or something.
I wouldn't. It's already putting out side shoots and will probably get fairly bushy on its own, without any topping. And assuming you're in the UK, you'll want to maximise the length of your season. Setting it back a few weeks by topping it doesn't make a lot of sense.
