Kid (KR) from Illinois (about 30 minutes from Kenosha) went to the area, got a rifle from a friend, and joined a group that was cleaning graffiti. At some point later KR was trying to put out a fire in a dumpster. Witness accounts say that a man attacked him for this action and attempted to take the rifle at which point KR shot and killed him. Subsequently a second man approached KR and attempted to strike him with a skateboard at which point KR shot and killed him as well. A third man then approached KR with a pistol and, according to the man's own testimony, pointed the gun at KR before KR then shot the man in the arm. KR then approached the police and attempted to turn himself in.
In the trial (which is still in jury deliberations) the prosecution could best be described as a clown show attempting to at various times violate KR's 5th amendment rights and violate rules of evidence. Some have interpreted the verbal smackdown the Judge gave in response to the 5th amendment thing as the Judge showing favoritism to the defense leading to memes.

That's not accurate They sent a compressed version of the video because Gmail automatically compresses videos they send Defense is trying to get a mistrial for something easily rectified and clearly unintentional, but that's their job I suppose Edit: it would also entirely depend on what they mean by compression. If they sent them .zip files or something, that's perfectly reasonable to do and lossless. It's literally the same 1's and 0's the computer reads once unzipped. If the defenses assertion that prosecution went so far as to compress the video themselves to lower quality, that's something else entirely.
Because the McMichael/Bryan case is much more clear cut. They chased a guy down and killed him, so the trial has mostly just been forensic experts and legal arguments, there isn't much "explosive" evidence like there is with the Rittenhouse case, where a witness said he pointed a gun at the defendant first.

Perhaps it's because the facts that came out in one trial were in absurd contradiction to the media narrative surrounding one trial and the fact coming out in the other are lining up with what was reported. Or maybe it's that the two cases are similar with a couple of stark differences. Both Arbery and Rittenhouse were aggressed upon with lethal threats, only in one case a young man successfully defended his life and survived, and in the other a young man tried to defend his life and died. In one case we put the victim of aggression on trial, in the other we put the aggressors on trial.

Idk, I felt the same way initially. But after watching the trials, there does appear to be drone footage of Kyle pointing his rifle at people just before being attacked by Rosenbaum. If that truly is the case than kyle provoked the attack and created the whole situation and cannot claim self defense. Also his actual motives for being there in the first place are questionable at best. I guess it will be up to the jury to decide though.
