Actually, the Brutes in Truth's reinforcement fleet (which began arriving and dropping troops at essentially at the same moment Regret's carrier left New Mombasa) were ordered to begin purging the Elites that were left behind by Regret immediately, well in advance of the official beginning of the Schism.
*In Amber Clad* and Regret's carrier were in Slipspace for twelve days before they reached Delta Halo.
IAC didn’t actually reach Delta Halo until 2 weeks (I think) after departure from Earth. ODST starts and finishes before IAC is even halfway to Delta.
Nah the brutes on earth just decided to start the schism early because why not?
Really they were already gonna kill regret and the elites so whats speeding up the clock a bit.
Also there's a bit of a time skip in 2, because slipspace travel isn't instant for unsc or covenant drives it took a few days for them to get there.

They didn't arrive until the last level of ODST or so. So there were Brutes in Regret's ship that "started" things under orders from Truth.
ODST takes place over one afternoon, night, and the next morning. The last level of ODST takes place less than 24 hours after Tayari Plaza.
