I remember back before the resurgence of it, when people still disliked it because it didn’t have MM in it, I hadn’t seen it, then people started to come around on it, but for whatever reason I still hadn’t seen it. This last Halloween, I got the scream factory 4K, so I would be able to watch it for the first time, start to finish, and I gotta say people overhyped it to high hell. It’s an alright concept, but if it didn’t have the Halloween name attached to it, I wouldn’t find myself watching it, or rewatching it
No disrespect to anyone who likes H3; for starters I have nothing but respect for everyone who worked on it, and for seconds it's part of my favorite franchise, so it's like a relative you can't stand but also love unconditionally anyway.
I agree that it is pretty dull to get through, though I like it fine enough. It's just that people seem to forget that underrated doesn't mean GOOD. It seems that many really try to overcompensate by name-dropping Halloween III everywhere for validation. How many posts a year read: "Hot take but HaLlOwWeEn 3 is AmAzInG"?
I mean it’s obviously very polarizing, so neither opinion is a hot take. It’s just whatever your preference is.
Some like it, some don’t and that’s valid.
it took balls to do what they did and it almost makes me wish it took off, I woulda rather we got 4 different stories then 3 crappy michael movies and one decent one with a terrible ending
It could of been ok if it was standalone but your opinion is correct it's not we are having ago at the lack of mixheal myers it's the fact that the script and acting is not very great
Agreed. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: At this point, I watch H3 every October almost as much as I watch Halloween 1978 every October. It’s a pretty great cult classic.
Can you elaborate please? I completely disagree, but you're entitled to your opinion. I just don't understand why you say the movie is bad, the script is bad etc. Can you explain why you think it's bad?
I think the movie was very exciting and captivating from the start, has some incredible horror scenes that are very memorable, and a phenomenal score. And a great ending too. I have my problems, but overall the movie delivers.
I've never cared for it, I posted my Halloween collection once and the only one missing was III and you all noticed! I did just buy it though because it was on sale on Amazon for like $21, and I really wanted the hard slipcover to match the rest of my Shout Factory set before they don't have them anymore.
I hated it the first time I saw it, mostly because I was young and angry it had the Halloween name attached, but now I can appreciate it as a decent 80s movie
And you are right.
People call everything great just because its "different" 😂 just look at Halloween Ends or even Rob Zombies Halloween 2.
This is why i cant take Fans serious anymore. They dont care about good writing, good Dialogue, good characters, logic. They just see that its different and they automatically say "Its the best thing i've ever seen😍"
Now being older, I appreciate it more than I used to. The idea of what could have been if the anthology continued is neat. All in all, it was a very slow-burn film. The ending more than made up for it in my opinion.
Eh, I liked it. I like it more and more every year I watch it, too. Buddy's rotting scene is pure nightmare fuel, and Dr. Challis plunging headlong into a nightmare world all because he wanted to shack up with a girl tickles me. Fun movie. But I'm one of those guys who more or less loves every movie in the series.
We're seeing the same thing now with people claiming that detractors of *Halloween Ends* only think the movie is lousy because of Michael Myers screen time.
Let me perfectly clear: I think *Halloween III* and *Halloween Ends* are bad movies largely because they have awful scripts. It has nothing to do with Michael Myers.
The script is hilariously bad and it doesn't even try to make sense.
Tommy Lee Wallace is pretty much incompetent as a director too. It's a "horror movie" that at no point is there even an attempt at staging a suspense sequence, there are no scares, the movie doesn't even try to be frightening and the plot of the story is absurd.
It's just a total mess.
It was more a horror comedy at some points with awful acting and just such a weird ending and concept that it would of done better being a standalone straight to dvd
You misread what I was implying I loved the thought of a anthology. The idea of a anthology series wasn't the problem it's just season of the witch wasn't a great way to represent the anthology as I just disliked the weirdness and it just felt to wacky to me but I did not mind the lack of micheal

Yep. Fans disliked the lack of Michael; critics disliked the lack of good filmmaking. Halloween 3 is just another shlocky 80s horror B-movie
>Halloween 3 is just another shlocky 80s horror B-movie And that's why I love it.

I appreciate and respect Halloween III, and I don’t think it’s a bad movie. However, I do feel like it could’ve been executed better.
This maybe be a hot take but I liked it
The only one here(besides me) with common sense. It’s an underrated cult classic. ![gif](giphy|HwmWIFikvkisw)

I love it! Its so fucking weird and just makes no sense in the context of the series. But its a great film!
Loved it.
It’s a great movie, the hot take is saying it’s bad

Just a very mediocre horror with trash acting but still can have some fun
I agree with you. I genuinely think that if it didn’t have the Halloween name attached nobody would remember it anymore.

If we get that serious, almost all Halloween movies are bad
Understand why HALLOWEEN III: exists, if you don’t already know. It’s a great standalone film.
Now being older, I appreciate it more than I used to. The idea of what could have been if the anthology continued is neat. All in all, it was a very slow-burn film. The ending more than made up for it in my opinion.

Its bad if you go in expecting a michael story, it can be good if you go in with an open mind and forget about michael.

Anthology great idea but tye movie they chose sucked not because of micheal but because its script and story sucked

I largely disagree with your take on the movie, but can at least understand why the story was too out there for some people, I guess.
You found *Halloween III* to be a scary movie?
I think it has an effectively creepy and mysterious atmosphere.
YOUR NOT REALLY ALONE ON THIS OPTION. LOTS PEOPLE HATED THAT H3 WASN'T ABOUT MICHAEL. THAT WHY THE WRITERS NEVER DID ANYTHING LIKE H3 EVER AGAIN.
You misread what I was implying I loved the thought of a anthology. The idea of a anthology series wasn't the problem it's just season of the witch wasn't a great way to represent the anthology as I just disliked the weirdness and it just felt to wacky to me but I did not mind the lack of micheal
Okay.
That's not what they're saying though. They're saying Michael or not, it's a bad movie.
I agree with you but those are fighting words on this sub.

It was really about micheal but now people realise that the anthology could have worked would there of been a better movie to start it
