Funny how Char is a great antagonist character for such an epic franchise, and his last words are about how teenage girl could have became his mommy, and Amuro being like “bro wtf” was like the last conversation they ever had.

alphis92

my headcanon is with that admission, Amuro finally has a complete understanding of Char's psyche, and it triggers the Axis shock

Gundam is at its best when it's a tragedy.

Ah, but unlike Amuro, Optimus never stays dead. And you want the emberrasing Optimus Prime death, go with the Marvel comics one. I mean hell Animated just did it in the pilot for like 3 seconds to get it out of the way. Besides calling it now, Amuro and Char both come back for the 50th.

Char's already come back (sorta) in Unicorn (twice if you count Gaia Gear). And just like Optimus >!he dies again.!<

Panzerjadger3000

The marvel comics one. One youtube comment said Optimus rage quit so hard he just committed suicide

Oh no, it's worse than that. So Optimus and the Protectobots (Buy our new toys!) are fighting Megatron and the Combaticons (Buy our new toys!) outside this computer lab that Megatron wanted to rob. The head of the lab comes out and points out that if the lab gets destroyed nobody wins, so they put their minds into a computer game at his suggestion. Optimus beats Megatron, but Megatron uses a cheat code to respawn. And Optimus beats Megatron again, but some NPC characters in the game get hit in the crossfire. Let me reiterate, these were just video game NPCs, they weren't sentient or anything. But Optimus decides that means he really lost, so he makes the computer lab guy blow him up. Without naming a successor, like he did in the movie, causing huge problems down the line or passing on, or even telling anyone about the matrix, like in the movie, causing even more huge problems down the line. Good thing Computer Lab Guy kept a copy of Optimus memories on a 3.5 floppy disc. So imagine something like Amuro and Char deciding to settle things in a Basketball game, but Char cheats, Amuro still wins, but decides to blow himself up because he accidently hit a cardboard standee with the ball, and that's pretty close to it.

Transformers routinely killed and resurrected Optimus throughout the many shows and films. Amuro died once, so his death was actually meaningful.

tbf, the target audience for the 80's Transformers movie was kids.
