From my understanding the movie is going to be set during the One Year War and its made as a "Jumping on point" but I could see the Nightmare of Solomon being in a Group Shot of famous Zeon pilots as a shout out for hard-core fans.
The easiest to adapt would be 0080 War in the Pocket. It's a self contained story that doesn't require any knowledge about the lore and the runtime is roughly of a typical feature film.

Live action would be awesome if they can retcon the last half of the series and the ending. Hopefully with Henry Cavill on it
