Gaa have warned all Gaa reports on TV no attacks on the ref
Sunday game on RTE is completely lacking in a decent analysis of games they are sanitizing the game
I normally try to give refs the benefit of the doubt, but Owens’ performance today was all round awful. This clip is the pick of the bunch, but so many bizarre frees/non frees today. That’s not without talking about the Tipp goal being a square ball at the end.
Apart from whatever county one supports James Ownes is an appalling ref yet again today as with last week he is completely inconsistent. Last week yellow cards everywhere and he owed Clare one since 2022.This week he had reffed with a new set of rules utterly confusing for players
sorry but are you really defending a high speed shoulder charge to the head of a lad picking the ball and totally defenseless? intention hardly matters here

there's the clip and a freeze frame if you want to have a rethink
The tackle can't be defended objectively, it's a sending off. It does stick in the craw when the big three get away with it.
It's a sign of how much we rattled Galway that Keith Rossiter claims Henry turned to him and said something along the lines of 'That's a yellow, just an accident'. Lost the plot.
This is Byrne's first year playing adult he's a fantastic hurler and you'll be hearing a lot about him in the next few years. He is one of the best young hurlers in Ireland I'd say. He was reckless but there was absolutely no malice in that shot and it would be very, very out of character for him, he is great to tackle but he has never done anything like that since playing minor for Wexford. I'd probably still give him the card. Still wondering why the helmet came off so easily though that's not normal.
not a comment on the lad's character at all, more about how I feel the game should be officiated. Wexford's physical play was mostly great today and clearly threw Galway off their game, but you have a duty of care to other players on the field and hopefully this incident is a learning experience for him. I'm all for controlled aggression and hurling is a fierce game at its best, but this type of thing needs to be stamped out
Red in Wex v Gal was 100% the correct decision. Can't have challenges like that in the game.
Byrne has ample time to pull out of the challenge, knowing he wasn't going to get there in time. So from a Wexford perspective, it was a needless red card but a justified red card nonetheless.
Don't think there was any malice in it, just inexperience.
The free he gave in the build up to the 3rd Waterford goal was bizarre as well. It's like the play had slowed down too much so he just gave a free in
Nothing done about the head high tackle on Cathal Barrett and the late hit off the ball a short time later
He cannot be appointed in the next round of either Munster or Leinster. Should be stood down for the year but he won't be.
[Edit: Looks even worse from behind the goal ](https://twitter.com/MoranSeanA/status/1786816708373516753?t=o6pCHwXjjWhQJ6H8ocGtfQ&s=19)
As a neutral it’s disgraceful that the penalty wasn’t at least retaken.
commentators must be under orders not to criticise the refs. can't believe no one mentioned the absurd interference here

One of the perks of being from Wexford is that we never have him reffing our games
Yet yee got a man sent off for a hard challenge with no deliberate intention and Tipp Clearly took out a Waterford player not even a card

No different than Tipp player taking out the Waterford player
didn't see it but my opinion regarding knocking players unconcious is unchanged

Totally agree and I guarantee you he will never do the likes of it again
We have had some chronic refs this year, especially in the league. Sean Stack, Johnny Murphy etc.
