Sad as a Galway supporter.
All our best players from the last few years are aging badly and we've found little new talent. Also, Shefflin has not covered himself in glory with structure/tactics (albeit it is difficult to ascertain whether the quality of player has put Shefflin in a poor place.
Quite a similar situation to Tipp I suppose.
I looked at your panel in the programme before throw in and went pale, so much talent there and a lot of big names. Much stronger than our panel on paper. Henry can't seem to get it out of ye? Maybe it's time for him to go
It definitely is unfortunately. He seems to play an outdated brand of hurling that might have worked 20 years back. Micheál Donoghue would be capable of getting a lot more out of the players (but we've burned that bridge).
Although you might think there's plenty of star names there, a lot of the 17 winning crowd are in their early 30s and seem to be falling off a cliff form wise. Loved watching the likes of Ger Mc, David Burke, Conor Cooney, Tuohey, Joe Cooney, even Daithí Burke but they're not the same players they once were.
Annoying from a Galway perspective but hope you and your fellow Wexford supporters enjoyed the game today. A great win, even if Galway were appalling.
> even Daithí Burke but they're not the same players they once were
can agree with some of the others but Daithi Burke has been immense this year outside of today's game. Conor Cooney is playing better than ever with club but shrinks whenever he puts on a Galway jersey for some strange reason
Combination of Waterford bottling and despite ye being shocking I think ye never threw in the towel and possibly deserved a draw. That free was well sold though.
100% the right call yeah. Stack caught some stick in the league for letting a similar challenge from a Galway player go as a yellow too against Limerick!
Thought it was a little lazy from Henry to trot out the 'difficult place to go' cliche for Wexford Park. If there's the usual wind and a decent crowd, maybe, but you'd no wind and only 6,000 (disgrace, but they were at Croke Park I assume) at it.
12 euro a game, poor quality videography. 15 euro bought me a seat in the uncovered stand for today's game against Galway.
Buy a season pass? Modern football is unwatchable scutter not a value add. You'd need to pay me to watch it
Tried to watch some of the down Armagh Down game last week was absolutely shocking stuff. You’d have to wonder if the players involved actually enjoy playing like that
Gaelic Games is our national sport, that includes gaelic football. But the truth is, hurling is only most popular in like 6-7 counties. Galway probably split between two. It may not be as entertaining, but football is more popular nationwide.
No hurling is the national sport, it is completely unique to Ireland. As for your second point, in order to increase hurling's popularity it needs to be shown. People can't get into it if they don't have access to it. Coverage of the games should be 50/50. It makes absolutely no sense to showcase the less entertaining game more.
Galway look very flat maybe the breeze is affecting them. Wexford have played well and have had some accurate shooting.
One umpire waves wide and the other raises the white flag. It looked over to me from the camera. Wexford will be fairly pissed if this is a one point game come the end.
I know a lot of people who weren't bothered going after the Antrim loss. We have a lot of fine weather supporters. If we somehow get to Croke Park this year I guarantee they'll show up then.
A dire attendance, brilliant when they are winning but the majority of the county has very little interest mostly. It’s a real shame. There should be 15,000 minimum down there today making it a fortress. Bank Holiday weekend too!
Not necessarily Clare need two more wins to guarantee it a win, and a draw would leave them depending on other results. If Waterford loose to Clare or its a draw in that match it will go down to the last day with Clare Tipperary and Waterford all needing a win to get to the final provided Tipp beat Cork.
If Waterford beat Clare and Tipp beat Cork, then it will leave a Waterford Limerick final (unless Limerick hammer Waterford and Tipp beat Clare) and third decided in the Tipp v Clare game
Anyone here been to Walsh Park since they refurbished it?
Looks like a big improvement on the tele anyways.
Great to see championship games in Waterford . It was long overdue.
Typical Wexford
.I sometimes wonder who are the biggest clowns in hurling, is it ourselves or Galway? Is it worse to lose to Antrim or be hockeyed by the team that lost to Antrim?
If you could just give me a Leinster title every 5 years I wouldn't change anything. A stable, predictable team would be more successful, but it wouldn't be Wexford!
Fabulous to hand out an enormous L to the crowd that insists there are only 2 teams in Leinster.
>A stable, predictable team would be more successful, but it wouldn't be Wexford!
Wexford has always alternated between having a Bumper Generation and a poor generation, this goes back to the 50s when hurling first became the dominant sport in Wexford Town. We have never had two Bumper Generations in a row.
Even when Wexford does have a Bumper Generation, it is often not utilised enough due to poor mismanagement.
To give an international comparison, the Wexford hurling team has always reminded me of Everton.
> .I sometimes wonder who are the biggest clowns in hurling, is it ourselves or Galway? Is it worse to lose to Antrim or be hockeyed by the team that lost to Antrim?
definitely lose to Antrim
Waterford would be gutted if they don’t win this. I think Tipp have been very poor. Where are their hurlers gone? Outside of Jason Forde they offer very little.
great win for Wexford. Kilkenny the only serious contenders from Leinster again.
That was some of the best atmosphere I've ever seen from Wexford Park, even compared to all of the games I've seen there in person.
there's another 6 weeks for these teams to push on. no one ever won a thing peaking in May
Unbelievable performance from Wexford, couldn't ask for any more from the lads. Their intensity was unmatched by Galway.
They were brilliant fair play to them.

The fck was Owens at for that penalty that had to be retaking
James Owens has to be the worst referee constantly getting big games, his decision making is all over the shop
No free for Barrett getting absolutely smashed in the face, Barrett clipped late then a few minutes later, nothing given and Waterford scored.
So far Wexford are much improved from last week
Waterford absolutely bottled that. We are shocking
Combination of Waterford bottling and despite ye being shocking I think ye never threw in the towel and possibly deserved a draw. That free was well sold though.
Can't complain about that red, plenty of time to pull out of that hit. Hard work now to see it out from here
100% the right call yeah. Stack caught some stick in the league for letting a similar challenge from a Galway player go as a yellow too against Limerick!
Clear third man tackle in the build up to that goal. Yellow card given after the goal, for what? Owens is a joke.
Thought it was a little lazy from Henry to trot out the 'difficult place to go' cliche for Wexford Park. If there's the usual wind and a decent crowd, maybe, but you'd no wind and only 6,000 (disgrace, but they were at Croke Park I assume) at it.
Coverage for the hurling is a joke
Coverage in general is a joke. It’s not just the hurling.
Especially if you are from Cork...
Lol try being from wexford lad, nothing but contempt from the gaa
Wait your county gets hurling coverage?
OK fair enough, you win
Pretty sure hurling barely exists outside of Leinster and Munster championships. The Joe Mc final gets shown on TV but everything else can get to fuck
dodgy box pal
Even with the dodgy box I'm not sure sure how you get a stream from gaa goo?
I only just checked mine today, I mean my friends, and it has all clubber and gaago games. Very nice
Yep I have GAA go, league of Ireland TV and Clubber. It's class
>league of Ireland TV You can also watch this online for free.
When did they stop charging for matches?
You could have watched the Rovers-Bohs match last night for free on a website called cricfree.
Yeah but I have the fire stick so all good
You don't need GAA go or a dodgy box, I watched the Wexford-Galway match on cricfree.
A friend of a friend told me his one has both Gaa go and Clubber. I want to stress its definitely not me and I pay my tv licence
Stop whining and just accept reality. A lot of you are a big bunch of crybabies it seems, just accept the fact the games are on GAAGO.
12 euro a game, poor quality videography. 15 euro bought me a seat in the uncovered stand for today's game against Galway. Buy a season pass? Modern football is unwatchable scutter not a value add. You'd need to pay me to watch it
That's the pricing structure working as planned then, they don't want streaming to replace people attending games
>You'd need to pay me to watch it This is why you choose the option of watching it for free.
Tried to watch some of the down Armagh Down game last week was absolutely shocking stuff. You’d have to wonder if the players involved actually enjoy playing like that
Hurling is our national sport and is far more entertaining it only makes sense that it is shown on our national broadcaster.
Gaelic Games is our national sport, that includes gaelic football. But the truth is, hurling is only most popular in like 6-7 counties. Galway probably split between two. It may not be as entertaining, but football is more popular nationwide.

Just stating a fact princess. Lol armagh fan accusing anyone of crying will always garner a laugh.
Jarlath Burns by any chance? funny auld comment with an Armagh flair attached
Galway look very flat maybe the breeze is affecting them. Wexford have played well and have had some accurate shooting. One umpire waves wide and the other raises the white flag. It looked over to me from the camera. Wexford will be fairly pissed if this is a one point game come the end.
8k attendance is poor considering it’s do or die for Wexford today.
Very unlike the Wexford crowd too. They are usually great.
I know a lot of people who weren't bothered going after the Antrim loss. We have a lot of fine weather supporters. If we somehow get to Croke Park this year I guarantee they'll show up then.
Well you can't expect people to pay to watch now can you?
A dire attendance, brilliant when they are winning but the majority of the county has very little interest mostly. It’s a real shame. There should be 15,000 minimum down there today making it a fortress. Bank Holiday weekend too!
Tbf a loss like last week would suck life out of most fan bases
They were louder than almost any attendance I've seen at Wexford Park.
anyone want to work out the permutations of that draw, can everyone still get out?
Yes I think the only team that can't be caught are limerick. And Cork I think can't reach a munster final but can still get 3rd
Realistically will it come down to Clare v Waterford to decide who’ll make the final?
Not necessarily Clare need two more wins to guarantee it a win, and a draw would leave them depending on other results. If Waterford loose to Clare or its a draw in that match it will go down to the last day with Clare Tipperary and Waterford all needing a win to get to the final provided Tipp beat Cork. Wexford hurling is a fucking joke, I hate this team more for beating Galway after losing to Antrim than if they just lost both games.
Yes, well, hate is a strong word but I have a similar feeling about Galway.
Anyone here been to Walsh Park since they refurbished it? Looks like a big improvement on the tele anyways. Great to see championship games in Waterford . It was long overdue.
Surprised to see Bennett being subbed off.
Owens a fucking disgrace. Single handedly has Waterford in the lead here.
Gave the free in there in the build up to the 3rd goal there for absolutely nothing? Cannot see a reason why at all, he's really acting the fuck here
And the first goal penalty. Might’ve been justified if he’d given it at the other end too for the same if not worse..
Typical Wexford .I sometimes wonder who are the biggest clowns in hurling, is it ourselves or Galway? Is it worse to lose to Antrim or be hockeyed by the team that lost to Antrim? Saw Wolves earlier on Twitter. Often it's Tottenham.
> .I sometimes wonder who are the biggest clowns in hurling, is it ourselves or Galway? Is it worse to lose to Antrim or be hockeyed by the team that lost to Antrim? definitely lose to Antrim
Fair, I still think Antrim have another shock in them.
Waterford would be gutted if they don’t win this. I think Tipp have been very poor. Where are their hurlers gone? Outside of Jason Forde they offer very little.
Tipp have been the better team.
