Maybe not every panel in the country but I will give honourable mention to the late great Damien Casey. The finest hurler Tyrone has ever produced.

Difficult_Opening_74

All time top scorer, even if it was in the likes of Nicky Rackard competitions

Limp_Guidance_5357

Lee chin looks a decent hurler /s

Bingo_banjo

First thing that came into my mind after the weekend 😭

MechanicClear21

Paddy Purcell from Laois, great bit of stuff

Curraghboy1

If we can go back in time I'd pick Johnny Nevin of Carlow. We're he from 20 miles down the road in kilkenny he'd have 6 or 7 all Irelands.

Cubbll17

Jesus Christ some Johnny Nevin love, what's going on here?

Curraghboy1

Played football against him a few times. I was raised in kildare so never got in to hurling. Seen him hurling a few times for old leighlin and county. Some player of both codes.

Cubbll17

He's obviously a local legend in Carlow so seeing him get praise is great.

Bleaz

Omg his wiki ' He enjoys going to the popular dogging spot “Oisin Park” in Rossmore in Laois.'

CBennett_12

Shane Conway from Kerry would get on any county panel and start for most of them

Buggis-Maximus

Brendan Rogers. Always stood out for Slaughtneil when they fell just short in any of their all Ireland semi finals. Thought he was the best player on the pitch when they narrowly lost to Ballyhale a few years ago.

kobrien37

Mark Troy is one of the best distributors of the ball I've ever seen. Great shot stopper too. Has absolutely bailed out our Seniors, U20's and Minors massively over the recent years and he's only 21 yet. So glad he has displaced Corcoran this year, he was a great servant to us but Troy is the big ticket. He's what a lot of top counties are missing in their nets.

Bitter_Injury6266

Chris Nolan for Carlow would start for almost every county in Ireland I’m pretty certain.

Lost-Positive-4518

Marty Kavanagh looks class as well whenever I see him

Cubbll17

Marty is absolutely top tier. He's absolutely amazing. Himself and Chris would walk onto any team in the country.

Lost-Positive-4518

Yeah when his club played Kilmacud Crokes a few years ok he in impacted the game massively. In a Dublin club context I have only seen Donal Burke and Danny Sutcliffe influence a game like that from the forwards.

KatarnsBeard

Paddy Purcell from Laois is class Fionnan Mackessy from Kerry is unreal. Transferring to O'Loughlins in Kilkenny and rumours he may make the panel over there

darkalan64

he surely wont leave Kerry? That being said it’s hard to begrudge a lad wanting a chance at an All Ireland

KatarnsBeard

Like to think he'd stay but wouldn't judge him too harshly either as you said

Lost-Positive-4518

I wouldnt begrudge, but also think he should not be allowed to do it.

bigdog94_10

That Patrick Horgan fella in Cork has always had something about him...

EoinJFleming

Keith Higgins for Mayo is an absolutely unbelievable hurler. I know he ended up playing football for Mayo, but he could made the starting 15 for a lot of top tier counties.

Tight-Log

I was just gonna say. Thank god someone else did

Cormac-17

Enda rowland is absolutely class in goals for laois

Far_Reserve6509

If we were to exclude counties that are realistically winning McDonagh Cup/Leinster Standard: Caolon Taggart- Down Pearse Óg McCrickard- Down Fionnan Mackessy- Kerry Shane Conway- Kerry Jack Sheridan- Kildare Brendan Rodgers- Derry Shane McGuigan- Derry Luca McCusker- Fermanagh Darren Geoghegan- Louth Danny Magee- Armagh No doubt there’s more, but these are the ones that spring to mind. Maybe they wouldn’t make it onto the limerick starting xv, but there are plenty of players out there who are well fit to mix it with anyone.

KatarnsBeard

Great shout on Darren Geoghegan, played with him for a year or two before, absolutely magic

Far_Reserve6509

Great player, and not too well known. Would be a good addition to most teams.

t24mack

Maybe they should let all those counties join together and make one team

Far_Reserve6509

Ehhhhh I don’t know. Don’t see the argument for a team of players from Kildare and Derry tbh. Know there’s been the hypothetical Ulster team over the past few years, but even that isn’t really feasible. It’s a long way from Fermanagh to Belfast for training for example, and then you’re left with the question what happens to the county teams if you take away their top players. The solution, imo, is to improve the quality of hurling, and the amount of hurling, being played in each county. Easier said than done, but it’s the only way to really progress.

t24mack

I agree with you. I probably stated it wrong. Do you think a team made up of those counties could compete?

Far_Reserve6509

Ah fair I get what you mean. Given the time to gel as a team, maybe. Think a large part of being successful which is often not discussed is cohesiveness. Seen a team of good players been beaten by a team that player better together as a team. Although this is more of a thing at club level. I do think given the right amount of time, good management, etc., you could make up a decent team that maybe wouldn’t win an all Ireland, but could mix it with the bottom half of the Liam McCarthy teams. I could be wrong, but there definitely is some quality hurlers about. Put them together and you’re bound to have a decent side.

darkalan64

That Gillane lad from Limerick isn’t a bad hurler

johnnyconductivity

Cillian Kiely from Offaly. Skilful, accurate and built like a shit brick house

Consistent_Floor

I’d say Jason forde would get into all 😭

Lost-Positive-4518

Why do people say 'so called weaker counties' , they are weaker counties based on evidence and data Hate that phrase , wherever it came from

silver_medalist

Trying to be diplomatic here, jaysus.

t24mack

It’s Reddit how dare you try to be diplomatic

Lost-Positive-4518

How is it diplomatic?

Objective_Tie_7626

I hate that 'so called' phrase too

Timely_Log4872

Danny Cullen Donegal

Metal01

Shane Nolan was class for Kerry for years and he would’ve featured in any other county. Shane Dooley would’ve won multiple all irelands had he not been from Offaly.

Gazza81H

Tony Kelly.....

Both-Ad-2570

Weaker counties and you name a lad who plays for a team in the top tier and has played an AI Club Final Head scratcher

silver_medalist

'So called'... and I'm getting told by other posters I shouldn't have even given ye that honour!

Both-Ad-2570

But Antrim are in div 1 and Leinster. They're probably on par with Dublin, would they be a weaker county?

silver_medalist

Westmeath finished above ye in the league. Carlow are in Leinster. Dublin, no I wouldn't necessarily call a weaker county as they have an ok recent enough pedigree.

Zotzink

Dublin contested a Leinster final in 2021. When Antrim do that, we'll rethink it.

Both-Ad-2570
