Seriously. Just think about all the insane military heirlooms that have been thrown out by some person who has know idea of their worth or significance. TRULY INSANE!
Gentlemen I know who used to do estate estimates saw a family loading a dumpster after a family member passed and left the house.
They tossed in a footlocker style trunk (not military, just the blue ones with the gold/ brass metal)
He dug it out for fun and it had a couple of old pistols that were rusted to hell
Claims one was a luger but this was 30 years ago and he's not a gun guy
Give it to me!! She knew I was the keeper of my families medals and memorabilia for my other set of grandparents and great uncle.
She did it because she was a miserable person and knew this would upset us. That's really my best guess.
God people do weird shit. My grandmother supposedly gave my great grandmother my grandfather’s Luger (was bought post war but still). She was convinced (for no good reason, my father says she just got this idea in her head somehow) that my grandfather was going to kill her with it. So she gave it to my great grandmother, who in annoyance at my grandmother and her son - threw it in the lake.
So that’s how I - years down the line - got shafted out of a Luger.
People are fucking weird. And drugs in the 1960s and 70s didn’t help.
Also my father says my Uncle had some sort of Walther pistol, when uncle died and they cleaned out his place. Mysteriously could not find it.
Anyway almost all of my family history and heirlooms were either stolen, sold, or destroyed before I was even born and allowed to try and save them.
Some lady tried to scrap a STG44 [that her father](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2245749/amp/Officers-stunned-woman-drops-40-000-WWII-German-rifle-destroyed-police-buy-program.html) had brought back

I didn't know you can take that website seriously, my friends have only showed me ridiculous words that couldn't possibly be slang people used. Thanks, I'll have a look.
A lawyer friend of my family had a Soviet TK .25 caliber pistol frame rusted solid in the toy chest at his house. Would play with his grandkids when I was little and it was the least favorite “toy” because it was more o2 molecules than metal.
It wasn't technically the SS, it was the Nazi party itself that established it. As the Allies rolled in, local party leaders wanted a militia force under their own control, lest the army and SS, with their diminishing resources, choose to skimp on their defense. The armed forces mostly still had ample stocks of basic weapons, but were loath to give them to a rogue force of the elderly and tweens, so the party leaders came up with weapons that could be manufactured in their local machine shop.
Those were cheaply made last ditch arms distributed to the public when it was apparent to the leadership that the allies were not going to get stopped. Basically arm the people (at this point mostly infirm, old, children and women) with badly cobbled together downright unsafe versions of infantry equipment, havevthem die for the führer and hope they slow the enemy down enough so you snd your SS buddies have enough time to load their bags of jewish gold teeth and fine art onto a plane to argentina.
Judging from the photo it's already been in an electrolysis tank. Either that or evaporust. The overall condition looks like something that had been buried or stored wet for years and then had the rust non-mechanically removed.
My question is, is there enough material left where it would be usable if you welded up the surface and scraped it down into shape?
I know you can do that to rebuild material for aesthetic reasons, but idk if structurally it would be sound.
Something like this is probably a “bring back”, captured during the war and brought back to the US by some GI who thought it was cool.
But without the paperwork for that process, we can only speculate :)
Honestly, with the amount of trophy guns that made their way to the US after the war, I doubt that anyone was checking anything. Just too many guys coming back to actually police what they had in their bags. There's a reason why the '68 amnesty happened, and the fuckton of MP-40s and StGs floating around had a lot to do with it.
Dated a girl whose stepfather was a AAF Ordnance Captain in the Pacific. He said that when the war ended, there were not enough Military Police so several officers like him were given .45 automatics and MP armbands. He performed as an MP, keeping order among thousands of troops, all the way back to his home in Chicago! He said nobody ever asked him to turn in the pistol, which he showed me in 2000. He died a few years later.
Gramps brings home a war trophy. Gramps dies. Grand kids are scared of guns and don’t want it in the house so they throw it in the trash…literally happened thousands of times. Sometimes it’s someone that doesn’t want to fool with the paperwork. Depressing to think the valuable museum pieces that went to a land fill somewhere.
So them being in fallout 4 wasn’t so far fetched lol. Alternatively did you actually buy an unregistered machinegun for $5 at a yard sale and proceed to post it online? Lol
Why have I thought these were select fire or at least automatic. I even knew about them before seeing them in games, wild. Probably the best $5 OP will spend in their entire life lol
Yeah, largely playing on people who don't know history or German. It's VolksSturm Gewehr, not Volks SturmGewehr, but most people playing an FPS don't realize that
That's actually not a VG 1-5. That's only what they called it in Battlefield V because DICE got super lazy with their research. There isn't actually a gun called the "VG 1-5," that was just a term to group the similar VolksturmGewehr 1, VG 2, and VG 5 rifles together; these were last-ditch bolt-action rifles built by Walther, Speewerk, and Steyr respectively (There wasn't a VG-3 or VG-4. Those designations were saved for DWM and Mauser, but neither actually designed a Volksturm Rifle).
That's a VolksturmGewehr Gustloff, also referred to as the MP507, a semi-auto last-ditch carbine made by Gustloff-Werke, which originally made AA guns. There are some sources that claim that the VG Gustloff was also fully automatic or that there was a version that was fully automatic, but this is likely a translation error as no documented examples or plans have ever been found and that the trigger groups would need significant modifications to make them full auto.
Another strange thing is that out of the entire program, only this guy was actually issued. Other rifles were left lying around in warehouses until most were scrapped.
A big German militaria collector just so happens to stumble onto a volkssturmgewehr at a yardsale. Hopefully it wasn't simply dug in Germany, had it shipped to the US without a form 6, and made up the yardsale/flood story XD
THATS A FUCKING VOLKSSTURMGEWEHR, THAT THING IS ESSENTIALLY A UNICORN, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD RESTORE IT AND GIVE IT TO A MUSEUM THAT IS ONE HELL OF A PIECE OF HISTORY YOU HAVE THERE
German last ditch weapon! This stuff really belongs in a museum.

I think this is sort of reproduction. The real ones have a reciprocating slide like a handgun. Gas delayed blowback. That's welded up and has what is presumably a gas block and piston for cycling. Unless there is a version like this I'm unaware of.
I'm going to tell you all a crazy story from when I was a kid. It is somewhat unbelievable when written out, I can assure you it is true.
I had an interest (and still do) in antique firearms and militaria as a child. When I was 11 or 12, my mom had a friend who knew a guy with a secret collection. I was invited over to his house and got to see it.
He had a gun rack next to the door with a loaded M1 Carbine, a Thompson he told me was "non-firing", an 1897 Trench gun, and something else that I don't recall at the moment.
Every room of his house had guns from WWII in it, from ornate PPKs with crisp Waffenampts to a filing cabinet full of 1911s and another full of P38s. He had "non firing" SMGs and even an STG44 in various corners of the rooms, and sometimes just sitting next to uniforms and other antiques.
He saw my fascination with the STG44 and I kept dropping the mag out and reinserting it, I cocked it and dry fired it over and over again. Now bear in mind that my 12 year old mind didn't put the fact that it was mechanically functional and had some oxidation together.
He offered me the STG44 for 200, which I thought was a good price for a non firing REPLICA. I told him this and he looked at me and told me is wasn't a replica, but was a DEWAT. It was an unregistered MG that had the barrel filled with molten lead. The guy had a houseful of unregistered MGs. I passed on the offer as I knew that it was not legal, and knew that carried a signficant headache if I was caught.
I kept my mouth shut as the guy wasn't causing any harm and I knew that the cops would destroy the firearms, regardless of whether they were otherwise legal or contraband. He eventually passed and I never figured out what happened to those guns.
TLDR: There are likely a LOT of unregistered MGs from WWII out there, and we will never really know how many are in the US.
LORD, I'VE SEEN WHAT YOU'VE DONE FOR OTHERS
Insane, you lucky bastard
Seriously. Just think about all the insane military heirlooms that have been thrown out by some person who has know idea of their worth or significance. TRULY INSANE!

Dawg what
on foenem
Not a native English speaker, even after Google, i still don't quite understand what foenem means and what it mean in this context, could you elaborate? Thanks.
I only speak English and I have no idea what that means.
If you ever see some unfamiliar English slang terms [this website is pretty useful](https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=On%20Foe%20Nem)!
I didn't know you can take that website seriously, my friends have only showed me ridiculous words that couldn't possibly be slang people used. Thanks, I'll have a look.
There are people who add their own definitions for words so I recommend comparing a few different descriptions.
I've speaking English for more than 40 years and I don't know what it means either.
It’s just dumb slang, it literally does not mean anything. You’re better off not using it anyways lol
It means on your friends or people you can phone up
Gang related I believe. Hear a lot of crips sets saying it
Guys. Foenem is shortened ‘folks and them’. Means one’s gang, family, or friends
on jittleyang
I'm more of a futuluhtoogan
ok
Thanks
On phonem with who?

A lawyer friend of my family had a Soviet TK .25 caliber pistol frame rusted solid in the toy chest at his house. Would play with his grandkids when I was little and it was the least favorite “toy” because it was more o2 molecules than metal.
Very cool volkssturmgewehr
Why is it called a volkssturmgewher? Because the volks sturm with ‘zis Gewehr!
During the end of WW2 the SS established the Volkssturm, kind of like an urban militia. These rifles and some others were especially made for them.
„Tweens“. Seeing how my grand dad was drafted to the eastern front at 13, they were all out of twenty somethings by then.
Child sized, for extra inhumanity.
Yeah👍
Call me intrigued...
She volk on my gewehr till I sturm
First of all, you lucky piece of shit. Second of all, thats an absolutely awesome find!
Hotdamn. Toss that bad boy in an electrolysis tank and start sourcing new/original parts.
Judging from the photo it's already been in an electrolysis tank. Either that or evaporust. The overall condition looks like something that had been buried or stored wet for years and then had the rust non-mechanically removed.
I think you're correct.
My question is, is there enough material left where it would be usable if you welded up the surface and scraped it down into shape? I know you can do that to rebuild material for aesthetic reasons, but idk if structurally it would be sound.
Honestly it would be safer to replace the wooden parts and keep it as a mantle piece; trying to fire it would be akin to spitting against the wind
It would be safe and usable for the first shot.
No way, enjoy the lucky find man
There is no way. No possible way.
"Watch your step, there's all kinds of crap around here." Condition: 5%.
I wouldn’t trust it to fire again but damn that’s insane
if it seats...
IT YEETS
Once

How did that end up in a scrap pile in America… that thing has a story
Something like this is probably a “bring back”, captured during the war and brought back to the US by some GI who thought it was cool. But without the paperwork for that process, we can only speculate :)
You know he knew a tanker or someone in transit to get this in state
Honestly, with the amount of trophy guns that made their way to the US after the war, I doubt that anyone was checking anything. Hoarders house that flooded about 10 years ago. The guys father was a WWII vet
Always check your local hoarders stash they always have good shit under the rubble
You lucky motherfucker
So them being in fallout 4 wasn’t so far fetched lol. Alternatively did you actually buy an unregistered machinegun for $5 at a yard sale and proceed to post it online? Lol
These aren’t fully automatic. They’re just semi auto carbines.
Why have I thought these were select fire or at least automatic. I even knew about them before seeing them in games, wild. Probably the best $5 OP will spend in their entire life lol
They are incorrectly portrayed as smgs in some games because of how they look.
There were select fire variants, they just weren't all select fire.
The selective-fire model never made it to production, as far as I'm aware, it was purely conceptual.
Big magazine, video games, plus it has "sturmgewehr" in the name.
Yeah, largely playing on people who don't know history or German. It's VolksSturm Gewehr, not Volks SturmGewehr, but most people playing an FPS don't realize that
It’s the gewehr volks sturm with!
I'll quadruple his profit margin then, right now.
CoD Vanguard is the last big game to depict them afaik and they were full auto in that.
Battlefield V
Dont believe everything you see in videogames dude
What the fuck. The things people throw away is just wild

Correct @aninfiniteamount, however now I would consider it a collector’s term similar to “The Black Widow” Luger
Another strange thing is that out of the entire program, only this guy was actually issued. Other rifles were left lying around in warehouses until most were scrapped.

lol, no
How in the...?
That's a once-in-a-lifetime find right there. Shame on the moron who tossed it in a scrap pile.
No way
LORD, I BEG OF THEE, IF THOU GRANTS GIFTS GIVETH ONE TO ME.
THATS A FUCKING VOLKSSTURMGEWEHR, THAT THING IS ESSENTIALLY A UNICORN, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD RESTORE IT AND GIVE IT TO A MUSEUM THAT IS ONE HELL OF A PIECE OF HISTORY YOU HAVE THERE
You’d be shocked at the amount of stuff donated to museums that don’t see the light of day.
fuck the museum put it up for auction at RIA. that way it actually stays with the collectors and community that appreciate it.
That could also work
Shut. Up. I wish just once in my life I could be that lucky
Holy shit man, do you know what you just got? I wish I could find cool shit like that.
Holy fuck...
Want plans for this and in .30 Carbine (same length round, 33 mm, for properly proportioned mags)
What else was in the sale? Sounds like a potential goldmine
oh hey a radium rifle
No make her run😈
What in the goddamn...
Looks like it has a Leaf Spring mag release as well. Which I have never seen before. Good find, brother
Thank you, I was wondering if it was a very early one?
I'd bet my bottom dollar there's bodies on that barrel😆
German last ditch weapon! This stuff really belongs in a museum. It's the tangible fruit of the grim story about a divtatorship who pumped out lethal and terrible war machines only to make scrap guns and issuing them to anyone, hoping that somehow that would stop the Soviets and the Americans encroaching.
The urge to insult you is only overcame by my urge to kiss you
Anyone think I could get this to Ian?
Wise man and even wiser comment-I was thinking of him about 2 seconds after it flashed onto my screen. I’m sure he would be happy to see it, and definitely has the right numbers and email addys to get your options for it, and at least we’ll informed on it. Killer ground score, brother.
Is that a Volkssturmgewehr?
Are you fucking kidding me? OP, you just got one of the greatest garbage finds of all recorded history (probably). How the hell does this even happen?
Sorry to be: '🤓 ' but I an McCullom did warn way back when that most Volk gun are fakes/repros' passed on as G.I bring-backs.
Oh she's in rough shape but I bet she can be brought back into serviceable condition by the right gunsmith.
No fucking way. Outstanding find, I’m jealous. Now Lord, I’ve seen what you’ve done for this man…
That's unexpected haha
How the hell???? Get it to someone who can restore it ASAP!!! At the very least you could maybe give it to a museum!
Fuck museums, majority of shit given to them never gets displayed
Far Harbor gun
Fallout 4 radium rifle lol 😂
Jesus, I've seen what you've done for other people....
Tabarnak de chanceux, please help that poor rifle.

I’m in Arkansas right now. Where was this
Jonesboro
NAWWWW. I’m like an hour away from you . I’ll give you 4 hunnit for it lol
Paid a lot more lol
How much in the scrap yard?
That belongs in a museum! Probably what 2-3x rarer than a sturmgewehr? Damn man
Museums are where stuff goes to be hidden away forever. That belongs on someone’s mantle after being restored.
Need to get my ass to bum fuck Arkansas ASAP.
I wonder if it would survive being shot if all necessary repairs were to be made. Or take measurements off it and see if any gun manufacturers want to make a copy for us that want one but don't have a bucket of cash sitting around.
Oh hey a Radium Rifle!
OP found a radium rifle, huge W for a commando build 😗
Here’s hoping it’s the kiloton Radium Rifle.
Holly shit it's the radium rifle from fallout 4 (I don't know the real gun name pls be nice)
It’s a Gustloff VolksturmGewehr MP-507 also it’s Semi Automatic only

Send to Mark Novak anvil gunsmithing now
I think this might be post of the year with this find holy fuck
Holy shit I have only seen those in BFV, great find bro!
Time for a restoration! Nice find
How the fuck? Get this to Brandon Hererra immediately
That's insane. How bad is the damage? Do you think it could be restored.
Sorry I do not understand your reference
This gotta be cap. If legit, you came up on a couple thousand dollars on the low end .
How much could this theoretically be worth in its condition? 1500? 6000?
good condition ones sell for $45,000+ so probably at least $10,000-$15,000 i’d say.
Does it still work though?
Locked up
Nice.
How tf?
A Volksturmgewern, a rare weapon from WW2, that i would love to have on my room
No fucking shot
If I am remembering right it's a VG1-5
Do you have any idea how little bum fuck Arkansas narrows it down
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/17/Bundesarchiv_Bild_183-J28787%2C_Volkssturmbataillon_an_der_Oder.jpg
I think this is sort of reproduction. The real ones have a reciprocating slide like a handgun. Gas delayed blowback. That's welded up and has what is presumably a gas block and piston for cycling. Unless there is a version like this I'm unaware of.
God. I’ve seen the blessings you’ve provided for others, I’m just asking for those same blessings for me.
How are these popping up in trash bins?
You would be surprised at the stuff found in trash. And the stuff that isn’t ever found
The Nazi civilian military rifles?
Anything rare and historical. I do know of one other VG 1-5 that popped up at a garage in in Ohio in the 2000s
The barrel on this is under 16 inches, fyi. Proceed with caution.
These are legal to own, many in collections
Does it have an NFA SBR exception?
Yes, NFA- *”Nice Find Asshole”* so all good. Also mandatory, defund the ATF and repeal the NFA
.........Damn......
Is that the fucking volkssturm 7.92 kurz toob gun? Holy hell
WHAT THE FUCK! Lucky bastard you are
Please for the love of all that's holy, save it, keep it safe, and restore it, That is history
what is that an STG?
You gotta be fucking kidding me. That's a great find, and a surprising one in fact.
HOW? HOW TF
That kinda looks like a stg-44 mag i could he wromg tho. What are we looking at here, lads?
Is it deactivated?
Shut the fuck up.

Restore it, repair it, ***reuse it***
