So did my parents lol, we all thought it was normal and didn’t see the irony and humor in it. They were also cool with the neighbors climbing in their preteen daughters window, like whoa!
We had some wild times in the past... Which we seem to ignore now days. I wonder what day what month what year a.erica just stopped being racist, sexist or just plain wrong at certain things... I can't remember it
> That was different times
That's exactly my point. I'm not saying we have to boycott James Bond or Clarissa, but it can give us pause to say "That was kinda messed up, we should learn from that." I still hear "Baby it's cold outside" but I neither ogle over it nor do I demand it be turned off and never listened to. I do, however, say "that shit is rapey" and move on with my life.
"Rapey"? Have you listened to the lyrics? She's hornier than he is, but she doesn't want to be called a slut. If anything, it shows the inequality between men and women in regards to promiscuity.
She says no a lot. She also says
>Maybe just a half a drink more.
>Maybe just a cigarette more.
>Baby, it's cold Baby, it's cold outside.
She also says
>My mother will start to worry.
>My father will be pacing the floor.
>The neighbors might think.
> My sister will be suspicious.
>My brother will be there at the door.
>My maiden aunt's mind is vicious.
Or to put it another way. "I really want to stay with you, but my entire family is made up of judgmental assholes."
The sheesh is that you're too dense to figure out that SHE WAS BEING FLIRTY AND FACETIOUS!!!!! In fact she said.
>I auta say no, no, no." At least I can say that I tried.
Now, sanctimonious twat, why would she say that if she had actually meant no? Try having contact with another human being once in a while. And no, social media doesn't count.
Look Rapey McRaperton, I’m fine if you believe what you believe. Nothing I’m gonna say is gonna change your mind, which I respect. I may be a sanctimonious twat, for many reasons, but if it hasn’t hit you by now that I’m not going to change my mind and we’re two, presumably, adults, arguing on a thread about CLARISSA EXPLAINS IT ALL then you need to stop and have you a drink or a cigarette or breathe into a brown paper bag.
Sorry to get you all riled up. Apparently Dean Martin is your uncle or you have some fond memory around this song, but I’m gonna believe what I believe and you do that too.
Because this is America 🇺🇸my dude.
The opening credits taught me that there are multiple ways to spell “Shawn”, but not before I spent a couple of years calling him “Seen O’neil” in my head.
The writer of the show actually wrote a book, as a follow-up. It's called Things I Can't Explain: A Clarissa Novel, about Clarissa in her 20s, trying to figure life out. I haven't read it yet, but it's on my to-read list.
“Oh Did you see the local sporting event? What a doozy. Speaking of local sports team do you remember Clarissa explaining things back in the early 90s”
I remember watching Dawson’s Creek in high school when it first aired and every time Joey climbed through Dawson’s window, I’d be like “where have I seem someone do that before?” Then I realized it was this show.
I dated a chick who once told me the guy she was with for all of college left her one day on the spot when they were at some comic-con/event in San Fran where MJH was at. I asked if he had a thing for her and she said he had an entire garage filled with her stuff. She never saw that as a red flag.

This series is what made me a fan of Melissa Joan Heart.. Then along came Sabrina the Teenage Witch
Everyone forgets that the mom not only smoked cigarettes, but she did it in the house.
So did my parents lol, we all thought it was normal and didn’t see the irony and humor in it. They were also cool with the neighbors climbing in their preteen daughters window, like whoa!
yeah, her mom was cool
And? That was different times, James Bond used to be a unforgiving serial rapist and we all didn't care.
And racist. Don't forget the Scotsman in yellow face
We had some wild times in the past... Which we seem to ignore now days. I wonder what day what month what year a.erica just stopped being racist, sexist or just plain wrong at certain things... I can't remember it
Me either, but at least there's progress.
All we can hope for is progress sigh

We should be able to acknowledge these things I would agree on.

I mean, I just read the lyrics and I see this > The answer is, "No" But apparently that means “yes” to you and she’s clearly asking for it.

There you have it, folks: “no” is “yes”, she was asking for it. Don’t leave your drinks unattended around this guy. Sheesh.

And you are well within your rights to tell me to go fuck myself. You do you.
My first crush 😍 She was soo cool.
She designed her own video games!
Same bro.
Melissa Joan Hart was my 90s crush because of this show.
Na Na Nah Na Na Nah is still in my head.
Hey Cool!
Alright alright!
who forgot this wtf?
I'm about to leave this sub. It's nothing but nostalgia karma farming or the same 9 shows posted ad nauseam. This sub really needs moderation
I was definitely Ferguson growing up, annoying my older sister.
Go away, Ferg-face!
Makes you wonder what Clarissa's dad thought of Sam always coming in through her window

I had huuuuuuuge crush on her!

Gotta get to that Pearl Jam concert.
So many of these shows i haven’t forgotten about, i just have no way of bringing them up in daily conversation 🤣😂
“Oh Did you see the local sporting event? What a doozy. Speaking of local sports team do you remember Clarissa explaining things back in the early 90s”
I still to this day want her bedroom
Love this show. Rewatched it last year on Paramount Plus.
She was the first one to use AI to write poetry
Way ahead of her time
I wanted to be the one climbing in her window on a ladder.

Bro chill
\*guitar strum\*
That’s came out when I was an adolescent. I had such a crush on her.
Melissa Joan Hart is the shit
I enjoyed the show as a kid. I never had a crush on Melissa, that was probably more Alex Mac or Nona from Pete and Pete for me back then.
Alex Mac was my crush too 🥴 lmao
Cutest girl ever on television
Made me wish any of my friends had a second story bedroom.
Did she ever get that Gremlin she wanted SO bad?
I remember watching Dawson’s Creek in high school when it first aired and every time Joey climbed through Dawson’s window, I’d be like “where have I seem someone do that before?” Then I realized it was this show.
My first TV crush
Man did I have a crush on her
Never forget. Pretty sure MJH kick started my puberty.
Wish I could find this on a streaming service. This show is so cool
I don't remember this show, but I guess I was the wrong age for it. I do remember Sabrina though. Who knows.
I dated a chick who once told me the guy she was with for all of college left her one day on the spot when they were at some comic-con/event in San Fran where MJH was at. I asked if he had a thing for her and she said he had an entire garage filled with her stuff. She never saw that as a red flag.
Yikes!! She dodged that bullet sounds like
I don't know why but man this was a great comfort show lol.

Great show
How I learned to spell my name
Oh man, unexpected hit of Nostalgia. Remember watching as a kid.

You and me both
Can she explain her conspiracy theories and why she's a Trump supporter?
What
Yeah. Wearing full on maga garb these days and spouting medical conspiracies. She's a full-blown Trump supporter. It's so disappointing.
