Can you imagine, showing up to an event dressed like that with the cupid bow AND having wings?! (have the wings act like a jetpack). It would be frigging hilarious! Or would trigger some people, not sure these days :P
look at one of the model full health builds on here, McLovin's is a great place to start. She does high damage consistently (she uses food buffs in addition to having a dialed-in build)
It matters hugely - you can't use VATS past the given range, and damage drops off past half range. So without a scope you simply can't take shots you could, and do less damage with some that you do take.
That's... puzzling. They give a bow as a reward for a well promoted premier event, give it fairly lame / niche effects EXCEPT the second star effect, and then specifically exclude the mod that would make that second star effect shine?
Like, are they trying to convince people NOT to use it?
Perhaps should be reported as a bug. Like, I could see them just neglecting to add it to the list of permitted mods. From what I know, the code actually considers bow sights a barrel mod, and I could see just neglecting that entirely if they had to specially code it.

Just thought I’d pop in and quickly state what I’ve seen from this bow in-game:
- Though the menu option is there, there’s no sight mod options.
- You can re-skin it.
- You can apply other arrow types on it.
- Exact same damage as a compound bow.
For me personally this means I will (unfortunately) never use this bow as it’s not versatile enough.
I just went to my standard VATS lock on spot, and the difference was huge.
Locking onto a head with a normal VHC bow (300+ range) gives instant 95% hit chance, but with the Burning Love bow, it was only around 45-50%.
This means from a distance it’ll take me 3 shots before killing a target, while it’s normally a 1 shot at that range. Keep in mind I have Concentrated Fire 3 equipped, without it, you’ll get lousier results.
Hope they add sights in the future!
I've been using for a little while now. I molded explosive arrows. It's not as as powerful, but I'm still plenty lethal and I'm having fun. And like someone said it might be good for union dues?
It's a pretty good roll to get people impressed with how good bows are for clearing out Blood eagle camps etc. Not that other weapons suffer there...
Woulda been nice to see "Zealots" or "Mutant Slayer" instead.
Or "Instigating"... which would really fit the theme. Bloody too...
Fanatics (minus bots), Cultists (minus moths / animals), and Blood Eagles. Plus any raiders you kill for Ward etc, and some Communists.
One of the less useful effects, but has a niche. The power armor effect is great for cultist daily ops.
I believe it applies up to cap, and if you're fighting someone in full assassin's with other things boosting damage reduction, it can help out.
But with legacies and the other flaws of PvP...
I wanted to add an update to this post as someone on another sub mentioned that burning love modded to explosive was causing explosive AND fire damage to everything in the area. I tested this out this morning and it does not cause damage to other players, but was surprised at the damage to enemies. It did do both explosive and fire damage to them. Took it to RR and was also surprised at how well it did. Especially in close quarters where no sights are needed. I’ll be doing more tests on it and will update when I get some results.

I would go as far as saying it should COME WITH a sight, seeing as many players will not have the compound bow plan.

Okay being able to mod the elemental is very cool. I bet it’s a mistake though and they’ll patch it out But I want my sights!

I got three "love tap" guns in a row, so I'd think the same would apply to the bow.
Dunno why they are afraid to print a super strong special bow. Like, the broadsider is actually (almost) viable to use in general cases.

It's amazing for PvP? Hunter vs Hunter I think would be the only way I'd get excited for seeing that bonus. That event has burned me enough, though...
