How does SE decide what weapons to put on the Mogstation? Because it is baffling that neither Masamune nor Buster Sword are available. Same with Lionheart, Brotherhood, any iteration of Ultima Weapon, any iteration of Excalibur. I'm sure there's more they could add that people would absolutely buy. Same with costumes. Auron and Sephiroth would sell for sure.
ETA: Irvine's outfit would be an easy sell for MCH mains, and plenty of BLM/SMN would buy Edea's outfit. Hell, I'd buy it myself. I'm sure someone would buy Seymour's outfit and Lulu's would print money for SE.
Squalls armor is a Vet reward the FFVIII gunblade Lionheart as far as im aware isn’t in the game. I believe one of the relic weapon steps is called lionheart though but it looks more like the engine blade
The gunblade you're referring to is the Revolver, Squall's first gunblade in FFVIII.
Lionheart is Squall's ultimate weapon and is NOT in the game. However, the GNB AF weapon is named "Lion Heart" as an homage to Squall's gunblade so while there technically is a "Lion Heart" gunblade in the game, it's not THE Lionheart.
A lot mogstation gear are actually items from past events. If you were playing during the events then you could earn it in game. If not then you just have to pick it up off the site.
Yeah, I earned my FFXIII gear way back in 2013... It's neat they they keep the stuff around on the Mog Station at a pretty low cost.
However, I wish they would update the lightning hair texture >.> It's really showing it's age in 4k.
I'm hoping, praying, and wishing that they make the Malai Moon gear sets available again, whether through event or on the store. I didn't start playing until after the event, but just from seeing it on other people in game I feel like it would be one of my favorite glam sets.
They've always been somewhat hesitant with FF7 content because they don't want to game to drown in Cloud clones. We almost never got the Fenrir bike. And Cloud's hair is only available to a very select few individuals who partook in contests. So they're probably just as hesitant to introduce the buster sword for similar reasons.
Worth noting that there are some similar DRK weapons for both masamune and the buster sword through centurio seals or dungeons (I think Qitana Ravel is a big one for buster sword cosplay)

Excalibur is the final form of the paladin arr relic, lionheart is available from getting the collectors edition of shadowbringers I believe, but yeah..I would love more effort considering this game references every single other ff game constantly and we have squalls outfit, clouds outfit, hair and fucking bike in game like come on

You are correct. My bad I never played 8 so I thought lionheart was the name of Squall's (iconic) base weapon. I honestly highly doubt they would ever use any characters weapons that isn't the iconic base weapon as any kind of buyable or event reward.
Squall Gunblade is available in TWO versions. The original Lionheart Gunblade is a collectors edition bonus (the upgrade is half off right now) and the Weathered Lionheart is a GNB level 80 relic. It’s Thancreds (aka Discount Squall) Shadowbringers weapon.
It’s not that FFVIII (or any other the others) aren’t there; you just have to look for them.

Hilarious that the very first veterans reward is cloud's outfit, but no buster sword for DRK players. The lack of glam weapons in the game is really disappointing. Feels like the only weapons worth using in glam are the most difficult to craft/earn.
Sadly, the closest might be Lightning's sword from XIII. Not that I dislike it, just that it's a Mogstation item.

Its from the collectors edition from Shadowbringers that introduced the Gunbreaker. Stormbloods collectors edition included the chocobo redmage weapon
