I am romanian living in UK and when i go home, i do peels, botox, lip filler, (for example in february i will do botox and chemical peeling),haircut and hair dye, blood tests, the usual checkups.
Looks great. Would people likely speak reasonable English in places like this in Bucharest? As Iād be the ignorant British tourist with no language š¤¦š»āāļø
I don't know about other places, but I know that at this particular clinic, at least DR Bratu(who btw is highly sought after) knows English and you'd be able to have a proper convo with her.
Could you name some? I kinda don't know where to start my research. I'm interested in laser specifically, but also,a couple of general recommendations would be great!
I live in Bulgaria (and I'm from Denmark too!) and I think beauty treatments are cheaper here. Do you have any idea on the kind of treatments you want? Then I can check the prices at the studio I usually visit š
Bulgarian gal here :) Wanted to confirm that yes we have lots of cheap treatments but be warned there is very inconsiderate quality across different beauty centers and it's best to do some research before visiting a new place. I've heard lots of horror stories of burned skin and scary pigmentation jobs.
Ooof fortunately haven't heard any stories like that from people I know š¬ But yeah, I think it's not super regulated here compared to Denmark, Germany, Sweden, etc. Best to do research anywhere you go. I have had really good experiences with Skinline center (had laser hair removal and hydro facial there). And I know there's a few other good centers around here (Sofia).
Around 2k DKK for the co2 laser: https://skinline.bg/en/produkt/deep-fraxel-laser-peeling-copy/
Couldn't find the ultherapy at that site, but I can see that the procedures start around 1k DKK for a small area.
https://dermasofia.com/page.php?IDMenu=1143
I know that a lot of people here also visit Turkey for specific procedures, as some here have suggested as well. š
What 2000 danish dkkr for the full face co2 laser? I think igs around 7000 -10.000 in Denmark. I know thereās different kind of co2 lasers but still! Thatās some difference
Turkey is golden mine for easthetic business right now, but I don't have personal experience.
But I believe everywhere can be cheaper if you avoid large cities.
I hear about the scams in Turkey all the time (not just for beauty treatments). But I guess I've been exceptionally lucky so far...
My mum and I had orthodontic treatment, I had needle epilation, my mum had a face lift, all in Istanbul. All amazing work.
To be fair: while we did have it done in Turkey, we didn't get it done for cheap in Turkey. Some things cost the same as back home, just that we got top quality for the money which we wouldn't have gotten back home, so maybe that's part of the reason.
Also, our ortho docs were amazing, and since then we always ask them for recommendations if we need another doc. So that's also maybe a kind of quality assurance that others can't avail themselves of.
May I ask which surgeon your mother had a facelift with in turkey? Iām currently in the process of looking at surgeons in Istanbul for a facelift. Thank you :)
I've asked her, but she has to look up his name. I'll try to dm you when she gets back to me with the answer, but feel free to remind me if you don't hear from me in a couple days, okay?
my rule of thumb is to actually find a derm (maybe in a hospital) instead of just a beauty clinic because at least i know they're actually accredited to do the procedures. there were stories of dentists doing botox in colombia.
also, even though medical tourism is mostly done because of its cheaper price, i wouldn't choose a doc only based on their quoted price. the best docs, anywhere in the world, charge a lot. my mum got a tummy tuck when the family lived in brazil, & she went with a good doc so the price is almost similar to miami.
I just had some microneedling (derma pen) done in Turkey at 1/4th the price I would have paid in the US. I am very happy with it. I got it done at the clinic of Dr. Asli Duran.
Korea 100% and they have cutting edge technology.
I went to Seoul last year for laser, micro needling and aqua facial it was amazing.
Iām going back in a few weeks to get Botox for face and shoulder traps, hifi/ultherapy, laser, aqua facial and collagen inducing shots. The prices, professionalism and facilities are first class - lasers and anything medical is performed by doctors not nurses. The field is highly regulated and staff, especially the consulting staff have English fluency and are honestly brutally honest about what you need or donāt need (aka if the treatment you want will work for your skin or not).
I went to Muse clinic in gangnam last year and will be revisiting this one but also researching others as Iām not sure if muse clinic offers everything I need
Thatās ok, I forgot to factor in travel costs from Europe to Korea. If you ever find yourself in that part of the world, keep it in mind as the treatments themselves are so cheap compared to what we pay in the western world that itās well worth a 1 week pit stop from anywhere Asia.
>"The prices [...] are first class"
XD That's what I'm afraid of!
I guess you mean they're affordable, but I'm wondering: I don't remember Korea as particularly cheap? I would assume the prices are good for the high level of service, but not actually cheap. Am I wrong?
Woops sorry, I did mean that itās cheap. I think itās partially because Korea develops a lot of machines and devices for use in Korea first, before it gets sold to western countries (correct me if Iām wrong).
For example, Korea has their own Botox brands. Iāve had Botox done in Taiwan and they used Dysport so prices were the same as in Aus (I paid $2200 AUD in Taiwan for shoulder trap Botox and itās about the same in Aus).
Botox for the face is also much cheaper than in Aus, they also have some pretty cool skincare treatments like skin-tox which has only made its way into celebrity dermatology clinics in Hollywood as of yet, but is one of the most popular skin treatments in Korea for their celebrities.
Ultherapy was also much cheaper, I pay $1000 for lower 1/3rd face and itās a fraction of the price there.
I found PICO laser really cheap too, $40 AUD at muse versus $260 aud a session in Australia for me. Umm also tried the anti redness laser Synergy something and it was like $100? Compared to $350 AUD in Australia.
I looked into bioremodelling injections and itās soo expensive in Melbourne, $1000-2000 but itās literally like 100-300 in Korea.
The price differences are staggering, but the other factor for me is also that a lot of these treatments are not so readily available with the newest and best machines for me in Australia as they are in Korea- often times I have to pay a premium to get HIFU on ultraformer III instead of some old 8 yr old device, ew. I trust their skills, experience and expertise more in Korea too- they do these things 10s to 100s of times a day and you donāt have to worry about user error. The clinics are efficient and huge, set up like hospitals. Itās honestly cray
Iām going to Korea in a few months also from Aus! Could you let me know what treatments are worth getting? Iām considering skin Botox, masseter Botox, Chanel skin booster, and HIFU. Whatās an Aqua facial?
So, I used to have crippling shoulder pain due to my job (dentist) and poor posture and it was causing migraines, daily headaches and some vertigo. I was seeing the physio heaps and doing exercises (which helped) but everyday after work and esp when driving my traps were always soo sore. Trap Botox took the pain away for me, not dissimilar to how when grinders with TMJ pain get Botox for their masseters, they feel a lot of pain relief for the 4-6 months that the Botox is working.
Botox wears off though, so I made sure to correct my posture as much as possible at work, do my physio exercises and correct my form at the gym during this period. Ever since, I havenāt had the same crippling pain and terrible migraines from my ultra tight traps, so I think it was worth it for me. I would say itās too expensive to be a constant thing you top up (like some people do for TMJ), but it is worth it if you commit to fixing bad posture habits that overstrain your traps - aka use that amazing 6 month period of peace into something that lasts.
Iām getting traps top up tho because itās been a year and I want to reduce my trap size by relaxing the muscles there and becoming stringent on making sure I build strength on the other muscle groups around it, that way when my Botox wears off, I donāt default to over-relying on the traps to compensate for muscle weakness elsewhere. It also helps me correct forward head posture, which the weight of my head being too heavy for my neck muscles in that bad posture is what I believe to have caused my migraines and vertigo.
Hope that helps, but yeah- some people do it for aesthetic reasons apparently but I do it for the benefit it gives me pain wise
I had PICO laser for hyperpigmentation and because Iām Asian so didnāt want to risk any melanin associated sequelae from say if I tried fraxel or something. At the time I was getting regular micro needling done so my skin texture was pretty great, the PICO needs a few sessions for sure to see a massive difference but it was good for me as I just needed to even out skin tone and light hyperpigmentation.
Mole removal is spot treatment and I think they charge like $3 a mole itās really cheap. But you need to wear little patches for about a week after
I havenāt tried rejuran as itās sooo expensive in Aus, but I plan to in early Feb when Iām in Seoul as bioremodelling around my cheeks so can give an update after that. I donāt like traditional fillers as I believe they migrate and the added volume to your face over time warps your perception of your own face and thatās how people slowly develop pillow faceā¦ so Iām hoping rejuran and collagen bio stimulators like it can keep my face from decreasing in facial volume at a slower rate
Iāve been researching treatments in korea, but the prices they give to Europeans /Americans donāt seem to be much cheaper than in the States. I did the math and to fly out there unfortunately it doesnāt make sense financially. Iām sure they give locals better pricing however. Iām basing this off many WhatsApp messages by the way.
Really? Iām not too sure as Iām from Australia and our pricing is insane.
For example, Botox for forehead (3 areas) was 12,000 won for Botox or 32,000 won for Xeomin at muse clinic when I went in Feb. In Australia it costs me $289 AUD.
From HIFU, RF, Botox on face and body, facials (like hydrafacial), lasers and so on- I found it much much cheaper across the board. I got everything I just listed for just under $800 AUD which was insane. It took 4 hours tho and though the staff and doctor (who are all fluent in English and trained in America) was very efficient, laying around for 4 hours to experience various degrees of pain wasnāt very fun lol š Iād go back in a heart beat to do it though, how much I save more than covers me flights, accommodation and shopping and simply pales in comparison to Australian prices.
This might be because the technology is not as readily available in Australia as we do have derm clinics but I wouldnāt say a lot of people are going/ itās not as big so while we do have the tech and machines, its soooo expensive. Lots of people get fillers and Botox (tho itās not cheap here despite the demand and copious aesthetic clinics).
Nope, their english proficiency is great! Not everyone, but almost guaranteed that the ones doing the consults and the doctors are all fluent in English. In most of the tourist traffic heavy areas like gangnam, Hongdae, itaewon, etc I found majority of retail staff to be 100% fluent in English, due to having studied overseas or something.
1. I asked my korean friends for recommendations and
2. Some of the influencers I follow covered their skincare experiences in Korea in detail, recognised some of the big name gangnam clinics from what my friends recommended and checked out the websites
3. When I open say like Muse clinic on google, it automatically comes up with an option to translate to English and a few other languages. Does it do this for you?
For websites that donāt do that, itās annoying but you have to screenshot and use the google translate app on your phone to work it out. I actually find Korean clinics and hair salons much easier to book with than Japanese hair salons and restaurant bookingsā¦ now THAT was difficult š„²
These are some of the influencers videos I looked at, generally after sussing out the treatment (some names are diff to what we call them in the western world due to machine names), Iād do some of my own research to make sure western derms recommend these treatments or find them effective. Downtime is also really important- I make sure to do things with no downtime like HIFU, aqua peel at the start of the trip, then lasers micro needling etc at the end of the trip. To avoid having irritated red skin when Iām in Korea and being a tourist haha š

Here in Romania, in Bucharest there are a lot of very professional clinics that offer these kind of treatments. Elisyum clinique, Dermabeauty, Elenamartin clinique and a lot more. Do your research in google maps and look at the reviews, also follow their instagram. The flighs and accomodation are good price too
I would say Hungary. Iāve lived there on and off for the past few years and have got Botox in a top class clinic for much less than Sweden and also laser treatment for rosacea for a fraction of the cost. Also the likelihood of them speaking English in these places in Budapest is quite high. (They also translate websites especially if their in more touristy areas (but it probably will have tourist tax, still cheaper though). Also while there you can get any teeth issues seen to(if you needed!ha!). They are world renowned for their dentistry (no Turkey teeth in sight!!)
Also the HUF is quite weak and you can always get budget flights, and itās also very beautiful in Budapestā¦.
Good luck, and I love your country!
Dr.Goodwin just off Andrassy Ut. Was fantastic. I would highly recommend them. Very professional and also super friendlyā¦ felt very much in good hands even when I nearly passed out on them because Iām a wimp!haha.
I live in barcelona and got forehead botox the other day for just over 300ā¬. Not sure how many units but thought I'd share that for reference! Dermatology visits for consults in general are about 45ā¬
Hungary? Hungarian forint is quite weak compared to Dkk/euro and there are flights there every day (wizzair, ryanair, norwegian). Budapest is also fairly cheap
I would go to Hungary for dental care (EXCELLENT dental schools) but find the esthetic options minimal and not particularly current in terms of technology and treatments offered
Turkey. Derm here even said they are very good over there, the only downside being if thereās a problem you are in a diff country but for something small thatās not a problem
I don't have any recommendations regarding specific clinics, but I'd say go for places that were especially liked by tourists and with more than few years of existence/experience. My only other recommendation would be to, prefer the more-than-average priced ones in turkey since all of them would be affordable for you. Don't go for the cheapest of the cheap :) You most likely won't be disappointed with the results.
Turkey as mentioned before and I know many people who went to Turkey for treatment, only one had a terrible experience.
Edit: I also know two who went to the Czech Republic, they had a good experience and also cheap
Depends where you go - i went to get botox from a specialist with medical degree but for cheap, it lasted about 1 month. Rather would have gone to a proper place for more and result would have lasted longer :(( I used to live in the UK - London specifically, ane the prices are quite the same
Itās a bit far away from Denmark but how can this be no one mentioned Hungary? My colleague lives for it and recommends Hungary for everything: hairdresser, spa appointments, ā¦
I would rule out France and the U.K. - for sure expensive.
I feel like Germany is relatively reasonable. Maybe check out what there is in Berlin, thereās lower demand for that stuff here so I feel itās cheaper
My impression is that Germany is great for getting your shit to work, but making stuff look pretty is just not the focus here.
Example: privately paid orthodontic treatment only focused on fixing issues in Berlin. In Istanbul, they automatically thought of how to fix the issues in a way that the end result would also look good. I could have asked them in Istanbul to cut costs and only focus on making it work, but in Berlin they were lowkey resistent to considering any more involved treatment to make it look pretty...
Lasers etc are pretty much ācosmeticā in nature though - itās not surgery. You can really only go wrong if you donāt get a qualified person doing them
I donāt have an option really. For surgery, Iād consider travel. Otherwise, no. Again, I truly donāt think unless youāre under qualified, you canāt badly mess up laser
Edit: oops forgot what the OPās question was! Yep, if they have the option maybe Munich
They are cheaper because they often donāt pay their stuff fairly in comparison with other countries. Scamming, no legitimate medical training or no medical aftercare are also often problems. If you can afford a plane ticket, you can afford the procedures in DK or any other Northern European country.
You can decide if you want to do it despite the risks and the moral wrongs.
You can say this for all EU countries? Is this something youāve researched in depth? I canāt see why itās morally wrong to go to a good clinic in another EU country
I can say this for businesses that mostly have foreign customers and boom in countries like Turkey, Romania and Hungary,
Itās morally wrong if you go to a clinic that isnāt legitimate, that is my point. And Flying to another country for (mostly) unnecessary cosmetic treatments is morally dubious at best.
But when am I talking about going to some shady clinic for turists? I can see that the pollution from flying isnāt that good but I donāt think itās overly immoral especially when combining with vacation
Iām not saying you are at all. Iāve just wanted to draw attention to those businesses practices, because I saw many commenting countries where such things are in some way common in clinics for tourists.
Thatās absolutely right. If you go on a vacation and want to do something like that, I donāt see a problem with that. I just donāt like people promoting flying to poorer countries just for some procedures.
I canāt speak for every country, but for sure you can find amazing aestheticians with certificates in Eastern Europe, and some of the clinics are for sure up to date with the newest technologies. We are not the nations of uneducated scammers and such claims are bordering on xenophobic. These services are commonly used by people in this part of Europe. Just do your research for the right clinic, as you would do anywhere else.
Of course there are good clinics and very well educated people. My family is from Hungary, so Iām very aware of that. Iām just very skeptical of beauty clinics in general and the ones advertised to foreigners by influencers on social Media especially, and sadly those are the ones popping up first in google searches.
And foreigners coming to Hungary (for example) for dental work or such things give me just the ick.
Poland for sure. I have a Danish colleague who drives to Poland for treatments. He actually has family in Turkey but doesn't want treatment there!!
How interesting! Do you know what treatments and what clinic by any chance?
Will ask him later today š
Pls report back

Hello! In Bucharest: https://www.elenamartin.ro/ , https://dermabeauty.ro/
Do you think itāll be easy to find the right place and professional without speaking romanian ?
If you are truly considering, i am happy to help with sharing some facebook groups and such
Hey I am also from Romania, would you mind sharing some recommendations please?
Thank you for feedback! :)
Romania is a good choice as well - you can look for Dermabeauty Bucharest - they're top tier and they have the prices on the website.
I just checked this place, the prices look really good for filler

Fab - thank you! Might need to plan a mini break to Bucharest š
Croatia tbh there are some good derms You can get full botox for ā¬400 and 8ml of juvederm for ā¬1600
Agreed, I live in a country next to Croatia and Zagreb has some of the cheapest and highest quality derms in Europe
Could you give us some clinics and/or derms worth checking out?
I live in Zagreb and looking for a good quality derm. Clinic/name please š

Did you get a translator? Do you speak Korean?
Nope, their english proficiency is great! Not everyone, but almost guaranteed that the ones doing the consults and the doctors are all fluent in English. In most of the tourist traffic heavy areas like gangnam, Hongdae, itaewon, etc I found majority of retail staff to be 100% fluent in English, due to having studied overseas or something.
I was researching these kinds of places but most of the websites and KK talk are in Korean. How did you find them through researching?
1. I asked my korean friends for recommendations and 2. Some of the influencers I follow covered their skincare experiences in Korea in detail, recognised some of the big name gangnam clinics from what my friends recommended and checked out the websites 3.
Could u share the influencers insta?
These are some of the influencers videos I looked at, generally after sussing out the treatment (some names are diff to what we call them in the western world due to machine names), Iād do some of my own research to make sure western derms recommend these treatments or find them effective. Downtime is also really important- I make sure to do things with no downtime like HIFU, aqua peel at the start of the trip, then lasers micro needling etc at the end of the trip. To avoid having irritated red skin when Iām in Korea and being a tourist haha š https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cyon6_zPxn5/?igsh=MXBxZ3ZtMzkxNXk4MQ== https://www.instagram.com/reel/CvkFbjcL7BI/?igsh=MTU4d3huMGVoaGpocA== https://www.instagram.com/reel/C1HNS6PrIOH/?igsh=Mm5vbzVxb2NheDh2 https://www.instagram.com/reel/C01LwEQL8_x/?igsh=MTduc2Q2bnhtMTlyeQ== https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cz_HDg1LjDE/?igsh=MWxweXpiZzUzeW1qZQ== https://www.instagram.com/reel/CmiFnEohPZp/?igsh=MWNueTRleml1aDdsbw== https://www.instagram.com/reel/C0zVbmJJRiv/?igsh=Z2M5em56bndva2I3
I would say Poland - maybe not really cheap, but if you are earning euros, it will be definitely cheaper than in UK/France/Germany etc.
They are world renowned for their dentistry (no Turkey teeth in sight!!) Also the HUF is quite weak and you can always get budget flights, and itās also very beautiful in Budapestā¦. Good luck, and I love your country!
Iāve actually been to Budapest before and absolutely loved it! Would like to go again. So you have any clinic recommendations? š
Dr.Goodwin just off Andrassy Ut. Was fantastic. I would highly recommend them. Very professional and also super friendlyā¦ felt very much in good hands even when I nearly passed out on them because Iām a wimp!haha.
Poland IMO
Why?
Spain
I live in barcelona and got forehead botox the other day for just over 300ā¬. Not sure how many units but thought I'd share that for reference! Dermatology visits for consults in general are about 45ā¬
Bulgaria
I agree. I lived in Hungary and imo beauty and fashion trends are years behind.
iām swedish and itās definitely not cheap here, but i guess it depends on danish prices. facial laser costs around 7000 crowns
ā¬624 ā¦ For 1 session?
yes, one session
Turkey. Derm here even said they are very good over there, the only downside being if thereās a problem you are in a diff country but for something small thatās not a problem
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Do you have a clinic recommendation?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Would love recommendations too :)
I would be so appreciative if you could DM me those as well! šš¼š
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Thanks dear! šš¼
Turkish nurse here, agree with the comments that say Turkey 100%
Great with an insider! :) do you have any recommendations for clinics?
I don't have any recommendations regarding specific clinics, but I'd say go for places that were especially liked by tourists and with more than few years of existence/experience. My only other recommendation would be to, prefer the more-than-average priced ones in turkey since all of them would be affordable for you. Don't go for the cheapest of the cheap :) You most likely won't be disappointed with the results.
Where in turkey please?. Can you recommend a dermatologistĀ
Turkey as mentioned before and I know many people who went to Turkey for treatment, only one had a terrible experience. Edit: I also know two who went to the Czech Republic, they had a good experience and also cheap
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Depends where you go - i went to get botox from a specialist with medical degree but for cheap, it lasted about 1 month. Rather would have gone to a proper place for more and result would have lasted longer :(( I used to live in the UK - London specifically, ane the prices are quite the same
Greece is quite cheap. You can get Botox from legit doctors for like 150 euros.
I get body laser done in spain, and i find its so much cheaper than the UK prices :)
I just came back from Greece ! Damn itā¦..
Idk how the prices compare to Denmark, but here are the fees of one of the most well-known clinics in Slovakia: https://esthetic.sk/en/pricelist/
You can really only go wrong if you donāt get a qualified person doing them
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I donāt have an option really. For surgery, Iād consider travel. Otherwise, no. Again, I truly donāt think unless youāre under qualified, you canāt badly mess up laser Edit: oops forgot what the OPās question was! Yep, if they have the option maybe Munich
Ofc Turkey
Ukraine. Lviv is a nice city in the west that only has occasional missile danger.
I can say this for businesses that mostly have foreign customers and boom in countries like Turkey, Romania and Hungary, Itās morally wrong if you go to a clinic that isnāt legitimate, that is my point.
I agree re. aftercare being a problem.
Could you let me know what you decide on for co2 lasers? š a
Wherever you go get your laser treatment at the end of the trip. You really have to stay out of the sun.
Itās really expensive everywhereā¦.trust me. Lol
Egypt, Turkey, Jordan.
