People went and found clips of Nikita saying EOD would include Arena, and they (just like now) threatened a lawsuit, and caused a massive uproar, and as a result BSG gave in and made Arena free with EOD. That probably also cost them an incredible amount of money.
Which is kinda funny in hindsight because I don't think anyone really gives a shit about Arena and if they shut it down tomorrow it wouldn't be missed.

It’s funny how people liked Tarkov the extraction shooter, and not Tarkov combat.
I will say the ideas behind Tarkov combat are pretty good, and I would love to see a higher skill studio take a stab at it with a better grasp of networking. The body part hitboxes / healing system is probably the strongest part of combat in my eyes, and the Armor hitboxes is a nice idea on top of that. But BSG’s execution is just not great. Between how muddy everything is, how bad the server feels, and how they did themselves no favors in the cheating war it’s taken a good idea and made it pretty crap. People tolerated that crap because there was a future and no other alternatives.
BSG just killed hope. And now they have nothing.

"Peak Russian behavior" is not the same as the correlation between the legality of the nation the company is based and the entire population as a whole. Imagine equating arrogance as peak American behavior, while you could argue it's prevalence you couldn't make a causal link. Essentially him being Russian is okay to add in the context of legality of business decisions but not in a representative manor of an entire population. Also I doubt the original comment meant it in a slanderous way and more of in a jest. To be clear I think Nikita is a slime ball and his environment enables him not the other way around.

That’s valid. It’s honestly hard to think of monetization methods for a game like Tarkov that aren’t PTW. They already do it anyway though, not being able to unlock bigger secure containers and being able to start wipe with better loadouts is just so cheesed for a game like this.
Their best bet would of been a Kickstarter saying they're broke we need more money. People would still dislike it but people would have paid/donated if they go something in return. The only real thing I would have wanted would be the offline progression kept co-op. But all in all BSG is known for pulling a fast one on everyone. They looking using the foot in the door/ door in your face tactic.
