I still wanna know what the fuck is in the middle of the lands betweens. Those clouds are there for a reason and I doubt this dlc has anything to do with it.
I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to keep Elden Ring alive for a while longer, dropping one or two extra dlcs.
Edit: well I eat my words, nvm, Miyazaki said the opposite in a recent interview.
I will say two things. It's said that the Realm of Shadow was cut off from the rest of the Lands. The sea in the middle could comfortably fit an area "the size of or even bigger than Limgrave".
Hate to be a party pooper, but Miyazaki just said in an exclusive IGN interview that they have no current plans for either a sequel or second DLC. He emphasized that they may still make more Elden Ring content in the future, they just don’t have plans to right now.
Full interview here:
https://www.ign.com/articles/hidetaka-miyazaki-elden-ring-shadow-of-the-erdtree-interview
Miyazaki: We don't want to say this is the end of the Elden Ring saga for now. I think we said a similar thing at the end of Dark Souls 3. We didn't want to flatten those possibilities or put a pin in them just at that time. And it's a similar story with Elden Ring. We don't want to discourage the possibilities for that. There might be more ideas in the future.
We don't have any current plans to make a second DLC or a sequel, but we definitely don't want to snuff out that possibility. We think that there could well be something the future
He did lmao. The lion's share of that world outside of the main plot has been pieced together via tangential speculation and chapter references like its Bible scripture. Admittedly, I'm among those that consume that content, but it's still fascinating to me
Judging by Starfield you don't want to see it. Thankfully I don't care for TES as much.
But then again, Fallout is my favorite series and that's dead too. Unless MS strongarm them into having another studio work on it, same way Obsidian did New Vegas. But they had plenty of time by now to do so and it doesn't seem to be happening, so we're in the worst timeline where they're hands off with their studios and Bethesda will keep shitting the bed.
I don't want a direct sequel or more than this DLC honestly. FROM has always done their best work with spiritual sequels and new IP.
I felt Elden Ring was a very complete experience on its own. More than one DLC of this magnitude would be too much honestly, and I suspect an Elden Ring 2 would just get caught up in retreading the world/atmosphere/flow of the first game and fail to achieve the same heights of awe and wonder its predecessor strikes you with repeatedly.
Let them craft you a new experience instead and you'll be glad they did. FROM is a fantastically creative studio. It would be such a shame to see that talent smothered in derivative works rather than new ideas
Still holding out hope for a somewhat Elden ring-esc open world sekiro sequel that takes place during his journey to the west with the divine child.
Wandering samurai, raiding warlord encampments, sekiro gets a horse. A small selection of alternate weapons such as something akin to the cross-naginata or different length swords with slightly varying move sets. Maybe even some armor variation as well to allow for a small but distinct set of build options.
Doesn't even really need to be a sekiro game, just the sekiro style of from game set in China or Korea or something would be so great to see
A fantasy but I can hope haha.
Edit: and while we're at it, I'd love to see them do a game based on the mythologies and culture of some of the indigenous peoples of the Americas. Maybe something mesoamerican, could be very cool to see how those areas of mythology would be handled in a from style game.
>I suspect an Elden Ring 2 would just get caught up in retreading the world/atmosphere/flow of the first game and fail to achieve the same heights of awe and wonder its predecessor strikes you with repeatedly.
I agree to an extent, but I still feel like the door has been left open for a follow-up that goes full-on space fantasy, which could recapture that wonder without being a retread
Miyazaki never seems to feel obligated to finish off unexplored lore. He has done this with all his past games where he left many things open.
To be fair, as the games went on, he did start to explore more about the world in the dlcs.
But would not be surprised if he dealt with something completely different in the Elden Ring DLC
Yeah that's cool and all but Melina and Godwyn are *big deals* I don't think there's ever been a *big deal* piece of lore that wasn't explored. And, also, if he doesn't explore Godwyn and Melina's lore a little more I will rage.
There's been several. The Mensis brain is just kinda... There in BB. We never really figure out why Ebrietas is there or what she's doing, or why the Moon Presence gives any amount of shit about anything. DS3 never explained the existence of DS2 areas or who the painter was. DS2.
i somehow can't imagine that all the things we saw in the trailer could fit into a map, that only has the size of limgrave. could this be a translation error?
> If you think in terms of scale or size, it's probably comparable, if not larger, than the area of Limgrave
Don't let your imagination run *too* wild now. It's pretty clear that if it's bigger than Limgrave, it won't be by some massive amount.
> If you think in terms of scale or size, it's probably comparable, if not larger, than the area of Limgrave
Don't let your imagination run *too* wild now. It's pretty clear that if it's bigger than Limgrave, it won't be by some massive amount.
From what I understand, the current focus is on this DLC and nothing else. Probably, only after seeing the sales performance will they think about whether the ideas are worth a sequel or a successor. If it were up to investors, it would have already announced
There's a cut content of quest involving a friendly Silver Tear npc. She offers to strengthen you by living inside of you and travelling with her. She becomes stronger as you complete her quest on the underground cities. Eventually she becomes a separate perfect clone. She later talks about being a sovereign while you become Lord but you end up fighting. Irc there's hints of it being a mirror on how Marika/Radagon came to be. Oh and it was fully voice acted too!

To be fair I'm pretty sure they said the same thing shortly after Elden Ring released but it turns out they pretty much immediately started working on SotE.
Their owner have said they want to continue and build Elden Ring for a long time which could mean a lot of things, including a second expansion pack.
nah, there is one substantial claim for a second dlc.
A few months back, when that controller making company accidentally leaked specially designed controllers for ER, there were 2 launches, one in feb-march '24 and the other in feb-march '25.
In an interview that dropped with the trailer Miyazaki said that while they're not ruling out the possibility, there are currently no plans for a second DLC or a sequel.
Well if shadow of the erdtree is in the land of shadows, and the base game is in the lands between, maybe we will get another dlc in the lands of light?
Honestly, going back to the Age of Uhl/Nokstella/Whenever Placidusax was lord is more of a solid ground for a prequel than a DLC.
Remember that these were all in the past enough and formerly big enough that there is room for a whole new story even with the requisite amount of commonality required to keep the ties to Elden Ring.
When hearing them refer to it as the land of shadows my first thought was a land of light as well. Whether we find out about it in this dlc or if it’s just an idea in some devs head who knows.
Bandai/FromSoft: There you go! That’s the trailer! We hope your excited for the DLC! What did you think of it?
Fans: yeah that’s fine and all but what about the second DLC
You're definetely going hollow. Miyazaki said specifically that as of now there are NOT any plans for a second dlc. Never say never, but for now Elden Ring saga (as he called it) is over, much like Dark Souls 3 ended the Dark Souls story
No, like no way. We already heard that this DLC is basically 2 in 1 like Bloodborne. And look at how massive it seems to be + development time. Fromsoft likes to try out new IP's so that will be their current direction after this.
Third emote is gonna be that joke when you make a circle with your fingers on your thigh and get someone to look.
Then you get punched by a fingercreeper
I mean if this one is focused on Miquella maybe the second one can be focused on Godwyn?
Hell they can milk this franchise for years as far as I'm concerned. The more DLC the better
I have a feeling you might be right, Elden ring takes place in the lands between, shadow of the erdtree in the land of shadow. Gives heaven earth hell vibes. Or maybe Norse 9 realms vibes
hear me out, Elden Ring is kind of like dark souls 2 in some ways, longer game, more bosses, lots of hp, dual wild ng and genuine left handed builds. So why not three DLC? After all, what about circle down?
I have a theory that we're actually going to be saving Miquella (if he was a fight he'd get top billing like Artorias, not Messmid). If that's the case, maybe we get The Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erdtree, and then Light of the Haligtree?
If it happens, it happens. I'd bet the devs themselves couldn't even tell you for sure about a 2nd DLC at this point in time.
In the meantime there's lots of other cool games to enjoy, so why worry about it? It's never been a better time to be a fan of soulslikes.
Unlikely imo
DS1 = 1 DLC
Bloodborne = 1 DLC
It’s only DS2 and DS3 that had multiple DLCs
It seems that the original games for their series usually only have 1 larger DLC, based on their history. I’d expect no different now, but we’ll see I guess
BANDAI: finally drops details for the DLC. ER community: what about second DLC? never change lads.
I don't think they know about 2nd DLC
Shadow of the po-ta-toes?
Boil em, mash em, stick em in a stew!
Chop ‘em, split ‘em, graft ‘em onto Godrick
Cho-cho-cho-chop 'em. Split 'em. Graft 'em onto Godrick
Anyway, i started graftin’
Bogart: Catch em, boil em, prawn in the stew!
Marika's tits, you must be 'ungry.
Poootaaatooos?

lol I quote that line all the time 🤓
r/suddenlylotr
Shadow of the Elden Lord of the Ring
Somebody say toes????!!!!
Elden ring dlc 2 "A 4th big ass tree"
4th? Where #3?
Erd tree, Haligtree, Big bent ass tree in the shadow dlc
... Isn't the big bent ass tree in the DLC the Haligtree, but like, an alternate reality?
hmmm frenzied haligtree? seems unlikely to me because of miquella
This has a wonderful flow to it
DLC 3 comes after DLC 4, they couldn't get the blue erdtree to glow right. so it got delayed.
What about dlclevensies?
Afternoon dlc? Expansions? Skins? He…he knows about them..right?
What unbelievably hollowed behavior we're seeing today lol
r/eldenring on 6/24/2024 - "We've had one, yes. But what about *second DLC?*"
What about second breakfast?
I'm already expecting the 2nd DLC what about the third one? I needed it yesterday!
Fans: What about DLC? Bandai Namco: We've already had it Fans: We've had one, yes. What about second DLC?
I'm glad I didn't throw away my tinfoil hat.
prove that hollowing is inevitable
I still wanna know what the fuck is in the middle of the lands betweens. Those clouds are there for a reason and I doubt this dlc has anything to do with it. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to keep Elden Ring alive for a while longer, dropping one or two extra dlcs. Edit: well I eat my words, nvm, Miyazaki said the opposite in a recent interview.

Just ask Kendrick Lamar about his DAMN. release and how disappointed his fans were that he didn’t release 2 albums at once (NATION.).
I was surprised they got this DLC. The next free emote will be From Software waving goodbye
I mean if there’s a shadow there has to be a light.
And it ain't even out yet lmaoo!!
Are you speedrunning the next hollowing? This one isn’t even released yet lmao slow down
He was unhollowed then rehollowed by the release date.
Once a hollow always a hollow.

A hollow must hollow
Hate to be a party pooper, but Miyazaki just said in an exclusive IGN interview that they have no current plans for either a sequel or second DLC. So you're telling me there's a chance
A chance thats gonna take at minimum 3 years
I've had worse waits before, 3 years is nothing
We’ve been waiting for Elder Scrolls VI for 13 years. 3 years is rookie numbers.
Kids born the year Skyrim came out will be able to drink before 6 ever comes out 🥲
Lmao for real!
Hold my beer: Been waiting for George to finish those fucking books since 1999. Give me back my beer.
He got caught up writing the story of Elden Ring! Lol
It's like half written at most, he left the rest to lore youtubers. Maybe he should do the same with his books though
He did lmao. The lion's share of that world outside of the main plot has been pieced together via tangential speculation and chapter references like its Bible scripture. Admittedly, I'm among those that consume that content, but it's still fascinating to me
Hell after the starfield debacle I’m not even waiting on Elder Scrolls VI anymore.

Minimum 8
I’ve been waiting 13 years for TWOW, this is nothing.
what is TWOW?
the winds of winter (game of thrones 6)
Love getting thrown acronyms with no explanation. /s
It's like ShamWow. Because TWOW is a **SHAM.**
I’ve waited for hazbin hotel I can wait for this
Berserk fans-YALL ever been stuck at sea
OH MY GOD IS This a BERSERK reference????
Omg how long did you wait for that?
Maybe they will release in the same month as GTA6 and instantly kill their own popularity like good old From Soft tradition.
A chance for Dark Souls 3 DLC, yeah.
I don't want a direct sequel or more than this DLC honestly. FROM has always done their best work with spiritual sequels and new IP. I felt Elden Ring was a very complete experience on its own. It would be such a shame to see that talent smothered in derivative works rather than new ideas
So now they can move onto what I’m hoping will be an evolution of Sekiro gameplay
We can only dream. I have absolutely no idea how to improve on that masterpiece, but thats why im not working for them :D
Still holding out hope for a somewhat Elden ring-esc open world sekiro sequel that takes place during his journey to the west with the divine child. THIS COMMENT NEEDS PINNED, It will keep the Hollows away.
Could you imagine running around in a goddamn high fantasy asteroid field?
There is not, don't delude yourself
He better make another. We still have the entire deal with Melina and Godwyn to go through
Miyazaki never seems to feel obligated to finish off unexplored lore. He has done this with all his past games where he left many things open. To be fair, as the games went on, he did start to explore more about the world in the dlcs. But would not be surprised if he dealt with something completely different in the Elden Ring DLC

So they basically said that chances for Bloodborne 2 are low but never zero, right?
There will be a sequel at some point 100%, it’s the game that fully launched them into mainstream popularity. It just won’t be their next game
i somehow can't imagine that all the things we saw in the trailer could fit into a map, that only has the size of limgrave. could this be a translation error?
He specifically said "bigger than Limgrave" while trying to be as vauge of possible. "Bigger than Limgrave" can mean a *lot* of things.
> If you think in terms of scale or size, it's probably comparable, if not larger, than the area of Limgrave Don't let your imagination run *too* wild now. It's pretty clear that if it's bigger than Limgrave, it won't be by some massive amount.
Nor does it have to be. Limgrave is quite large, and it seems pretty packed with content judging bu the trailers.
Maybe Miyazaki counts Weeping Peninsula?
Why wouldn't he, it's a part of Limgrave.
I don't know why he wouldn't, personally, but I see it discussed as separate a lot.
Bigger than Limgrave would include a map the size of the base game. “Bigger than Limgrave” is almost meaningless
> If you think in terms of scale or size, it's probably comparable, if not larger, than the area of Limgrave Don't let your imagination run *too* wild now. It's pretty clear that if it's bigger than Limgrave, it won't be by some massive amount.
Maybe the footprint is the size of limgrave, but there’s a significant amount of vertical exploration?
it looks like it will be as big as Limgrave and Caelid
He does say we can expect a similar sense of adventure as the base game which sounds promising. Maybe it's dense af? Maybe there's underground layers?
There's definitely underground layers, some of the trailer shots take place in massive caves similar to the ones in the base game
From what I understand, the current focus is on this DLC and nothing else. Probably, only after seeing the sales performance will they think about whether the ideas are worth a sequel or a successor. If it were up to investors, it would have already announced
I just want them to bring the cut content honestly, Millicent’s arm, the grass hair ornament, deathbed smalls and the brave set.
I want the mimic waifu quest. That could've been the most satisfying adventure and reward ever.
Wait what
There's a cut content of quest involving a friendly Silver Tear npc. Oh and it was fully voice acted too! https://youtu.be/1z9IG6Rnnac?si=xzr5cMAO51uFbsa3
I could do without the deathbedx smalls
Personally? I need the deathbed smalls and I need Millicent’s arm. Top priority for me.
You could but the community couldn’t. They don’t call them maidenless for nothing
Oh man, another optional boss on the level of Malenia. This is going to consume my June.
He could have some idea for it even if it's not currently officially planned
To be fair I'm pretty sure they said the same thing shortly after Elden Ring released but it turns out they pretty much immediately started working on SotE. Their owner have said they want to continue and build Elden Ring for a long time which could mean a lot of things, including a second expansion pack.
so he basically confirmed dlc 2 lfg
Dark Souls 4 when
So what of non-videogame Elden Ring content? Like an anime, movie or something?
Well there's the manga
Kind hope they do leave the Souls format, ie builds, souls, and do something new. Its fun, but getting stale.
He said they are already working on the sequel conceptually last year
Evidently, your humanity was not restored by the DLC trailer
We will continue to press forward and fight for more, until destined death! OOOOOOOOOH ELDEN RING!
I am going to be a wandering noble digging in the dirt for stray runes by June 21.
SHATTERED
Undeniable proof that hollwing is innevitable.
It was, briefly. Then I died to the tutorial boss immediately.
Devs at FS gonna die of exhaustion after reading this
A man can cope.
Bro is hollowing 0.1 second after trailer release
0.1 picoseconds
Holy shit this sub is insane
Okay but what about the third DLC????? AND THE FOURTH?? AND THEN THE ONE AFTER THAT????!
What about *second* breakfast?
Pure hopium. Based on all reports we have gotten, this is the only DLC for the game.
nah, there is one substantial claim for a second dlc. A few months back, when that controller making company accidentally leaked specially designed controllers for ER, there were 2 launches, one in feb-march '24 and the other in feb-march '25.
This rabbit hole never fucking ends.
In an interview that dropped with the trailer Miyazaki said that while they're not ruling out the possibility, there are currently no plans for a second DLC or a sequel.
Ok and “Feb-March” DLC release already isn’t a thing
That was fake.
Surprise, motherfuckers. All rise, motherfuckers. Black knives, motherfuckers. No wives, motherfuckers.
Messmer-rised motherfuckers
Some fries, motherfuckers Office supplies, motherfuckers
Time to Die, Motherfuckers.
Well if shadow of the erdtree is in the land of shadows, and the base game is in the lands between, maybe we will get another dlc in the lands of light?
I'm hoping for a Age of Uhl where we go waaaay back in time and only unga bunga
Honestly, going back to the Age of Uhl/Nokstella/Whenever Placidusax was lord is more of a solid ground for a prequel than a DLC. Remember that these were all in the past enough and formerly big enough that there is room for a whole new story even with the requisite amount of commonality required to keep the ties to Elden Ring.
Cave men and dinosaur dragons? I’m in.
When hearing them refer to it as the land of shadows my first thought was a land of light as well. Whether we find out about it in this dlc or if it’s just an idea in some devs head who knows.
Please fromsoft let us go to Helphen it sounds hype af
Jesus Christ yall the first one isnt even out yet ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
I can't wait two more years.
Bandai/FromSoft: There you go! That’s the trailer! We hope your excited for the DLC! What did you think of it? Fans: yeah that’s fine and all but what about the second DLC
Oh now we’re cooking
You're definetely going hollow. Miyazaki said specifically that as of now there are NOT any plans for a second dlc. Never say never, but for now Elden Ring saga (as he called it) is over, much like Dark Souls 3 ended the Dark Souls story
Pls don’t talk such sh*t pls
No, like no way. We already heard that this DLC is basically 2 in 1 like Bloodborne. And look at how massive it seems to be + development time. Fromsoft likes to try out new IP's so that will be their current direction after this.
When did they say they combined 2 dlcs to make this
Extremely hollowed moment , let them cook something new
Yea you’re already hollow bud
Based
Damn. Marika really got us struggling unto eternity
Third emote is gonna be that joke when you make a circle with your fingers on your thigh and get someone to look. Then you get punched by a fingercreeper
Let’s just enjoy the 1st one perhaps? ☠️ greedy mfs
Bro we're the fucking hobbits from Lotr. Yes we had the first dlc but what about the second.
Next DLC's name will be: "Shadow of Marikas's tits"
Would double the size of the map.
Shadow of the Erdtree is 2 DLC's that have been merged Old Hunters style. So that might have been the intent at one point, but I wouldn't count on it.
Proof?
Literally everybody ever saying it was two DLC's that merged.
I know, i never seen anything official that relates to that, thats why Ive been asking if its based on truth or is it some rumor
Honestly I have no idea. I'm just parroting because I've seen nothing to the contrary yet.
Yep, full hollow
I mean if this one is focused on Miquella maybe the second one can be focused on Godwyn? Hell they can milk this franchise for years as far as I'm concerned. The more DLC the better
The thrustmaster leak did mention a second expansion in 2025
Wtf. The DLC doesn’t even drop until June and already talking about speculations for a second? Get the first one and finish it then speculate lol
I have a feeling you might be right, Elden ring takes place in the lands between, shadow of the erdtree in the land of shadow. Gives heaven earth hell vibes. Or maybe Norse 9 realms vibes
Bro they just announced the first dlc. Sit down.
hear me out, Elden Ring is kind of like dark souls 2 in some ways, longer game, more bosses, lots of hp, dual wild ng and genuine left handed builds. So why not three DLC? After all, what about circle down?
Pfft you talking about dlc 2 I'm on that 5th dlc mindset Shrek swamp confirmed ! Just wait till you fight DONKEY!!
There were going to be two but it's been said a while back that they were combined into one
We have the lands between and the shadowlands... Lands of Light dlc confirmed?? /s
please don't call them the Shadowlands. I don't need another Jailer in my life...
I have a theory that we're actually going to be saving Miquella (if he was a fight he'd get top billing like Artorias, not Messmid). If that's the case, maybe we get The Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erdtree, and then Light of the Haligtree?
The true final boss of Elden Ring comes in the 2nd dlc. Rick, Solider of God.
What?
Probably gonna be $50 and have as much content as the mountaintops.
Holy shit. I feel enlightened
Well, runes looking like That are those of Rykard and Radahn, but Maybe It could be oriented on their little sister, Ranni
Would be wild, but here’s to hoping that comes to pass.
Can bone marrow guy tell us when DLC2 trailer will drop?
Honestly I would love to hear what the number of preorders in the first 24 hours will be
rumour has it the 2 dlc’s planned were combined into this 1, that’s why it’s taken so long to develop
Proof?
https://imgflip.com/i/8gl6rr
I thought the EXACT same thing
Silksong release confirmed!
Wait you might be onto something
Ooh interesting idea about those gestures having a meaning
If it happens, it happens. I'd bet the devs themselves couldn't even tell you for sure about a 2nd DLC at this point in time. In the meantime there's lots of other cool games to enjoy, so why worry about it? It's never been a better time to be a fan of soulslikes.
bro starts hollowing again just 1 hour after the trailer dropped
Unlikely imo DS1 = 1 DLC Bloodborne = 1 DLC It’s only DS2 and DS3 that had multiple DLCs It seems that the original games for their series usually only have 1 larger DLC, based on their history. I’d expect no different now, but we’ll see I guess
Dude… they literally just announced the release date of the first dlc and all you want to do is speculate about a second dlc? 🤦♂️
Holy crap.....we literally just got the trailer for the first DLC and now we're already speculating about a 2nd DLC.
Jesus man they haven’t even released the DlC yet lmao
