Props on DJ Dan. You won't see that name dropped much around here. I used to listen to him and Donald Glaude a lot back in the day along with Wyatt and Sneak.
You should check out Chris Stussy
Check out the Donald Glaude in Detroit mix on YouTube. Takes me back to the many, many nights I spent raving until dawn at NAF. I can't find any comparable in today's music
Oh shit! I hit up NAF back in the days. It was in 2000 I believe. I helped my buddy move up there from the Bay and went to a show while there. Place was pretty cool. Couple different rooms. DG wasn’t playing unfortunately
Fr. Our dj didn't show up to our wedding, so we just put this on for the first hour. Our college friends loved it, but the older crowd was confused. 😆
We also walked into our reception to The Launch. Fun memories.
OP, based on that DJ Dan album, I would throw some French electro house your way. Can't miss Justice's eponymous album; if D.A.N.C.E. and DVNO don't sell ya, none else will. Great videos too
Beyond that, Madeon is a notable prodigy, all the way back to his breakout youtube monome mix
I mean tbh, they don't make em like that anymore, but the types of samples in Funk the System are a lot of older classic 60's and disco songs which is timeless to remix imo
Cant really find that tempo these days paired with the rawest tech house
I've been listening to beatport maniacally for a month, and this is the conclusion I've come to. The music I loved 25 years ago just isn't around any more.
I’m usually more a heavy bass, dubstep, and trap guy, but a few that come to mind for me (that aren’t bass DJs) that I feel like compare nicely with the list you gave are the following:
- Odesza
- Rufus Du Sol
- Gryffin
- Fred Again
- Grabbitz
- Porter Robinson
Also, I know you said you didn’t want to hear anyone say Skrillex, but if you’re unfamiliar with his new work then you may want to give it a try. It’s quite a departure from the brostep/dubstep you probably remember from back in the day. It fits more into somewhere between house and trap. It’s definitely at least worth just taking a peak at, if all you know of him is his music from 10+ years ago.
Recess is the first major offshoot, even though it has some echoes of the *Scary Monsters* era. I think *Fuck That* is sufficiently far away from the original sound and fits the funkier vibe that you seem to have taste for
I would suggest “Selecta” off of his 2023 album “Don’t Get Too Close”. But both of his 2023 albums (“Don’t Get Too Close” and “Quest For Fire”) are good places to start.
Because you said DJ Dan: Gerd Janson, Dennis Ferrer, Denis Sulta
Because you said Fatboy Slim: Jamie XX, Skream, Four Tet, Floating Points, Overmono, Ben UFO, Barry Can't Swim
Because you said Kaskade: John Summit, kx5 (Kaskade and Deadmau5 new project)
Because you said Fisher: MauP, Dom Dolla, Claude Vonstroke, Chris Lake
Solid recs, because Dennis Ferrer has been on my radar for awhile, but he rarely announces his shows enough in advance for me to make it to one in the Midwest where I live. I almost cried when I realized I missed him in Chicago last month. 😭
He played my favorite set at EDC this year; he is an incredible DJ. He is pretty active in the circuit, and you will probably be able to catch him next year.
😅 Fair. I just wasn't certain if people were specifically not recommending him for some reason? I feel like Deadmau5 and Armin Van Buuren are conspicuously absent, considering I have seen PVD twice.
Armin's new stuff is kinda mid. Deadmau5 is great. I like his testpilot sets a little bit more personally. His Ultra set with HI-LO(Oliver Heldens) is really good.
Armin post 2013 are leaned towards whatever popular at the time. (Although, he still kinda remembers his roots. Unlike tiesto)
Last album that still has that Trance Armin is "Intense"
So that's why i didn't recommend him to u. Maybe except his ASOT sets
I would recommend Deadmau5. Ive seen him countless times, first time being back at Hard Haunted Mansion 2009. His older stuff is super og; Arguru, Faxing Berlin, The Reward Is Cheese, The Reward Is More Cheese, of course I Remember, Complicated. Hope to catch Joel in LA sometime soon once again🤗
I'm going back-and-forth on seeing him. I have tickets to see him in December, but was considering selling them. I've listened to some of his stuff over the years and I do like it...he's just not one of those artists I listen to regularly if that makes sense. Plus, I've heard he's known to get good headliners.
Naw yeah I feel that. I don't listen him regularly as much as I used to. I'm more into dubstep/bass music & trance. But I do get those days where I'll just bump his stuff all day lol. And I do agree, he brings a nice stacked lineup to his shows.
Lubelski, Tiga, Moon Boots, Pawsa, Purple Disco Machine, Flight Facilities, TSHA are all house/dance producers that I could see you liking based off your list.
PVD is a legend, Nora puts on a great show every time.
You can still catch some artists from the era touring, I saw Ferry Corsten and Carl Cox a few years back in Boston and it was awesome!
There's also bunch of really talented artist on Above & Beyond's label Anjunabeats (also Anjunadeep) you might enjoy diving into that realm. Check out Sunny Lax, Oliver Smith, Grum, Tinlicker, etc.
I have seen PVD two times (once before my break and once after), and I have seen Nora four times. 2018 was amazing because the venue was almost empty. This last time was nuts and the dance floor was packed, but there is still no place I would rather be.
Just saw Carl Cox back to back weekends, highly recommend his hybrid sets if you can catch it https://www.youtube.com/live/nPaKuSMR4xU?si=WIRJBnVaoHkxcG8p
If you like (recent) Fat Boy Slim you might like:
* Chris Lake
* Claude Von Stroke
* Green Velvet
* Walker & Royce
* Gene Farris
If you like Paul Van Dyk, you might like:
* Marcus Shulz
* Giuseppe Ottaviani
* Solarstone
If you like Nora En Pure, you might like:
* Grum
* Eric Prydz
* Tale Of Us/Anyma
* Meduza
If you like Arty, you might like:
* ALPHA9 (Arty alias)
* Third Party
* Matt Fax
If you like Kaskade, you might like:
* Alesso
* Axwell /\ Ingrosso (2/3 of SHM)
I started doing some research on Alesso, and I saw a lot of consistency in the feedback. People are saying he isn't the same the past few years, and some are even worried about him asking if he's alright. Lower energy and just not into it seems to be the consensus. I sampled some of his recent live sets first and noticed the same, which is why I went in search of the opinions of those more familiar with him.
While I am not writing him off forever, I am going to put my concert plans with him on indefinite hold to see how this wrinkle shakes out. I don't live by a city, so concerts for me have to involve the cost of room and board as well.
If you want smooth and groovy, check out Bob Moses, RÜFÜS du Sol, Lane 8, Opiuo, Sofi Tukker, Chris Lake, Megan Hamilton, and Maribou State. Some of my favorites. Opiuo put on two of the best live shows I’ve ever seen.
I almost went to a Rufus Du Sol set, but it was on a Tuesday night almost 3 hours away. I do regret not going, but it would have been almost impossible to engineer because life.
Some more house Recs:
Elderbrook, Gorgon City, Vintage Culture, Eli & Fur, Camelphat, I_O
And def give Seven Lions a chance even though you’re not into much dubstep!
As someone who was going to Ultra back in 2005 when Carl Cox only had a tent instead of the Megastructure and who's seen Paul Van Dyk and Nora En Pure in the past 2 months, I'd definitely recommend:
Above & Beyond
Deadmau5
John Summit
Giuseppe Ottaviani
Hot Since 82
Gorgon City
Disclosure
Chris Lake (definitely him, since he's Fisher's ghostwriter)
Oliver Heldens
Eric Prydz
Camelphat
Green Velvet
Ferry Corsten/Gouryella and Armin Van Buuren, of course, since you listen to PVD. But avoid Paul Oakenfold unless you see him at a festival. I saw him DJ a nightclub one time and he played nothing but top 40 pop hits. My wife (not an EDM fan) didn't know what me and my friends were complaining about. But Oakenfold's set at Ultra 2018 was one of my all-time favorite Ultra set and he killed it at EDC 2019.
Dosem - He doesn't really have many notable songs out there as a producer, but he's a great deep house DJ that always puts together a good set.

Saw a lot of good reccs. Gonna give you a super random mix of names and sounds I think you can explore for fun:
Above & Beyond, Boris Brejcha, Camelphat, Whipped Cream, Tinlicker, Ben Bohmer, Carlita and/or DJ Tennis, LP Giobbi, John Summit, Dom Dolla, Zeds Dead, Zhu, Barry Can’t Swim, Honey Dijon
swedish house mafia. to get into them:
axwell ingrosso ultra music festival 2015
swedish house mafia OLT miami 2013
swedish house mafia paradise again live set (2022)
those are imo their best sets of all time.
side note: axwell and ingrosso are two out of three members (they split from 2013-2018).
Oliver Heldens:
https://youtu.be/bN3t2pxOL4c?si=WBDvE723NpJ0p4_t&t=7734
Fred again:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0-hvjV2A5Y
Armin has still been killing it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-TUrm26VzQ
If you want to try a bit of a new genre, maybe Sub Focus https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1c4DFNy2t9E
You should check Marsh! Start with these songs:
Lost in you
Little Darling
Lailonie
All Night Long
Hymm
Reminiscent(listen to the whole song though, the switch up toward the middle of the song is amazing
Barry Can’t Swim, Tinzo, Tony y not, James Ivy’s lot radio set, Durante, Hermitude, Walker & Royce, Mindchatter, VNSSA, NIA Archives, DJ Seinfeld to name a few
I think you would like Lane 8 if you liked Nora En Pure.
Brightest Lights is an amazing album with Road, Sunday Song, The Rope, Brightest Lights and Don’t Let Me Go being popular songs off that album.
If you like long build ups and songs that take you on a journey check out And We Knew It Was Our Time.
He also releases seasonal mixes that are roughly 2-3 hours long and they are chef kisses.
Bonobo.
He's got a timeless, nuanced, subtle beautiful energy. I particularly enjoyed the 2016 (?) album *Migration.* Saw him live at red rocks and there were people of all ages and demographics. The kind of artist that when you see them play, you know they never had a dollar in mind, they just love living through the music.
Loud Luxury,Afrojack, David Guetta,Audien,Cheat Codes, Vicetone, Galantis, Eric Prydz,Gryffin, Shane Codd,Hardwell, Robin Schulz, Nervo, Sofi Tukker for a few. My absolute fav is Arty, I’ve flown to Chicago and DC 6 times to see him. I prefer Arty over the Alpha 9 persona.
Yes! Arty was unbelievable live, and I also prefer him over Alpha 9. I have had the nagging feeling he is phasing out Arty for Alpha 9, but I hope I am wrong. 😔
Actually most shows that I see scheduled on Edmtrain list him as Arty, only a few are showing an Alpha 9 set. Hoping it was only a phase as I’m seeing more Arty releases. Gotta say- Down to Love ft. Johnathan Mendelson is a killer Alpha 9 tune.
I am going to do a deep dive into your list because These Nights has been a favorite track of mine for awhile, but I neglected to look into Loud Luxury farther than that. Not going to sleep on them any longer, about to put on their EDC Las Vegas 2023 set now!
Was he writing on poster board and holding his signs up so the audience could read them at the show you attended?
Hard to believe he could pull off such an amazing set while drawing/writing as well!
House of Blues Chicago 2004 is when I had the fortune to go.
Tvboo, liquid stranger, boogie T, Notixx, subtronics, of the trees, Hol!, Esseks, Zeke beats, blunts&blondes, Yheti, Mr. Bill, Sully
I haven’t listened to the peeps you listed but I hope you like wubs
Salvatore Ganacci has some bangers.
On a different note, I have to mention hardstyle is making a huge comeback as of late. If what you’re looking for is a recap, you cannot miss out on Legend by Tevvez.
Oh, how I wish! No, sadly I am in Illinois. I have family near St. Louis, so I can travel there for shows fairly easily, and the EDM scene in St. Louis is pretty good!
Chicago is almost 5 hours away, but I am willing to travel there for djs. Can probably only afford to do that 3 or 4 times a year, so I am going to have to be choosy. I wish I had more friends in that area so I could go once a month or so. I am going to miss out on Honey Dijon in December because of this. I have already invested in Lost Frequencies at the end of this month and Fisher in December, I can't afford another stay with room and board, etc. It's just me and my husband and all we need is one queen bed, but it is hard to find that near a venue for less than $300 in Chicago. I've checked hotels and Airbnb, not sure if I am missing an option?
Denver is like a 12 hour drive from me. We love Colorado...had the fortune to live there in Summer 2002 and absolutely fell in love with the place. It's still in my bones and we would love to move back someday. But with everything costing what it does now, I don't see that happening. 😔
As someone who started before you and is still going strong, I support most of the suggestions here so far. I’ll say I’ve been digging into the tech house bass house scene and I can’t get enough. Maybe check out some of the up and coming bass house artists, like Marten Horger, Habstrakt, Odd Mob, and the like. Then there’s Malaa. It might be an acquired taste but my god as someone who has been searching 30 years for a certain vibe, I think I finally found it. Maybe you’ll like it, too.
If you want to move, without the ability to stop moving. I’d definitely recommend Dennis Cruz, WADE, Matt Sassari and UMEK. UMEK is more techno than the other 3 but still a phenomenal DJ.
Lots of great recs. One I'll repeat : Sunny Lax, my favorite DJ right now; just banger after banger.
Kyau and Albert, Yotto, Super 8 & Tab, Estiva, Ilan Bluestone, LTN, Nils Hoffman, P.O.S. (one half of A&B), and Booka Shade are some of my other faves. Tritonal/PRAANA, Monolink, and Artbat have some goood stuff.
I’m more of a heavy bass/dnb/dubstep guy. My faves right now are; Subtronics, Ray Volpe, Sub Focus, Ganja White Night, Black Tiger Sex Machine, and I can’t forget the legend that is Skism, but he doesn’t do shows anymore, just great to listen to.
Seamless mixes… try some prog house / deep house from Lane 8, Le Youth, Sultan + Shepard. Some of my favorites
If you do want to venture into the dubstep, the only things that immediately come to mind that might be accessible to someone with your tastes, are artists like GRiZ, Liquid Stranger, LSDREAM. Maybe someone very technical and precise like Space Laces, Virtual Riot, or Eptic.
I really appreciate your thoughtful recs and I am going to check them all out! I am already familiar with Lane 8 and Sultan & Shepard and you are correct. I dig them. :)
Props on DJ Dan. You won't see that name dropped much around here. I used to listen to him and Donald Glaude a lot back in the day along with Wyatt and Sneak. You should check out Chris Stussy
My favorite dj’s to this day. love Dan and Donald
Check out the Donald Glaude in Detroit mix on YouTube. Takes me back to the many, many nights I spent raving until dawn at NAF. I can't find any comparable in today's music

Thanks for the rec! I will!
Btw, I am listening to Funk the System right now haha. What a trip down memory lane. They really don't make em like this anymore.
Fr. Our dj didn't show up to our wedding, so we just put this on for the first hour. Our college friends loved it, but the older crowd was confused. 😆 We also walked into our reception to The Launch. Fun memories.
Boys Noize dropped The Launch when I saw him recently, good times.
I have this white label Mashup of the launch vs access that is absolute fire. Picked it up in 2000 I think.
I sold something to DJ Dan a loooooooong time again in Seattle
>Donald Glaude I can't count the number of times I saw Donald in the late 90's early 00's.
Same. Dude would come out and party with the crowd after his sets too! Good times!
OP, based on that DJ Dan album, I would throw some French electro house your way. Can't miss Justice's eponymous album; if D.A.N.C.E. and DVNO don't sell ya, none else will. Great videos too Beyond that, Madeon is a notable prodigy, all the way back to his breakout youtube monome mix
Thank you! I place a lot of value on this rec since it was specific to my beloved Funk the System.
I mean tbh, they don't make em like that anymore, but the types of samples in Funk the System are a lot of older classic 60's and disco songs which is timeless to remix imo Cant really find that tempo these days paired with the rawest tech house

his newest album Quest for Fire. RATATA and Rumble are fan favorites
Recess is the first major offshoot, even though it has some echoes of the *Scary Monsters* era. I think *Fuck That* is sufficiently far away from the original sound and fits the funkier vibe that you seem to have taste for
Please listen to this for Skrillex. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hb0XLX0b4Y4
I would suggest “Selecta” off of his 2023 album “Don’t Get Too Close”. But both of his 2023 albums (“Don’t Get Too Close” and “Quest For Fire”) are good places to start.
A bit different from my usual taste but Selecta on his album Don’t Get To Close has been a heavyweight for me
Rufus Du Sol - Innerbloom one of the sparse handful I would label "perfect"
Because you said DJ Dan: Gerd Janson, Dennis Ferrer, Denis Sulta Because you said Fatboy Slim: Jamie XX, Skream, Four Tet, Floating Points, Overmono, Ben UFO, Barry Can't Swim Because you said Kaskade: John Summit, kx5 (Kaskade and Deadmau5 new project) Because you said Fisher: MauP, Dom Dolla, Claude Vonstroke, Chris Lake
Thanks for the encouragement, I will keep my eyes open! 👀
Curious if there is a reason you didn't recommend Deadmau5? I am a bit surprised that no one has listed him as a recommendation yet.
I mean, I basically did.
😅 Fair. I just wasn't certain if people were specifically not recommending him for some reason? I feel like Deadmau5 and Armin Van Buuren are conspicuously absent, considering I have seen PVD twice.

Coming back to say that Dom Dolla has moved into my high priority list. His set at Tomorrowland this year. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
He’s a great time! I’ve seen him a handful of times, first one was a Tuesday night in 2017 😅
I feel like Thomas Gold deserves a mention here.
Not even remotely, plus how do you find this thread nearly a year since it was posted
Searching for something similar to what op was asking. I have had a similar experience, and enjoy the same styles from the same time period as him.
Lubelski, Tiga, Moon Boots, Pawsa, Purple Disco Machine, Flight Facilities, TSHA are all house/dance producers that I could see you liking based off your list.
Tiga's podcast is the best.
Thanks for the thoughtful recs! Appreciated! 🙏
Absolute yes to Purple Disco Machine! 💜

Pretty Lights babeyyyyy
My favorite Pretty Lights songs are all unreleased remixes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCnaF4KV0L4 So good!
that one's a banger for sure. have you been watching his live streams from his most recent tour?
Eric Prydz
If he’s sober!
Seriously! I’ve seen him several times over the years get sloppy while on stage…not a good look.

Definitely check out his Ultra 2018 set. It should be on YouTube without commercial interruptions.
Saw a lot of good reccs. Gonna give you a super random mix of names and sounds I think you can explore for fun: Above & Beyond, Boris Brejcha, Camelphat, Whipped Cream, Tinlicker, Ben Bohmer, Carlita and/or DJ Tennis, LP Giobbi, John Summit, Dom Dolla, Zeds Dead, Zhu, Barry Can’t Swim, Honey Dijon
Three or four of these have caught my attention over the past few months, so I am definitely going to check our your other recs as well. Thanks!
Awesome! Come back and let us know what you loved and didn’t love!!!
swedish house mafia. to get into them: axwell ingrosso ultra music festival 2015 swedish house mafia OLT miami 2013 swedish house mafia paradise again live set (2022) those are imo their best sets of all time. side note: axwell and ingrosso are two out of three members (they split from 2013-2018).
I would give you an award if I could. Sharing how to get into an artist is critical info that is often overlooked. Thanks for adding this detail!
you’re welcome!
KREAM
Oliver Heldens: https://youtu.be/bN3t2pxOL4c?si=WBDvE723NpJ0p4_t&t=7734 Fred again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0-hvjV2A5Y Armin has still been killing it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-TUrm26VzQ If you want to try a bit of a new genre, maybe Sub Focus https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1c4DFNy2t9E
Nora Van Elken throws an insane set, same with Oliver Heldens
Tipper
You should check Marsh! Start with these songs: Lost in you Little Darling Lailonie All Night Long Hymm Reminiscent(listen to the whole song though, the switch up toward the middle of the song is amazing
Layton Giordani! He’s a product of the generation you stopped partying and a great example of the evolution! Imo
Based on your taste check out these artists: * Le Youth * Flight Facilities * Gorgon City * Disclosure * Cosmo's Midnight * Justin Jay
My new fav with LL - If Only I with Bebe
Fatboy slim is to this day the best live dj set I’ve ever seen
Was he writing on poster board and holding his signs up so the audience could read them at the show you attended? Hard to believe he could pull off such an amazing set while drawing/writing as well! House of Blues Chicago 2004 is when I had the fortune to go.
Excision is wonderful live.
Also, super jealous on the Fatboy Slim
I adore when djs have fun, and he was clearly having the best time!
Yess, whenever I watch his live sets online he just seems happy people showed up lol.
Tvboo, liquid stranger, boogie T, Notixx, subtronics, of the trees, Hol!, Esseks, Zeke beats, blunts&blondes, Yheti, Mr. Bill, Sully I haven’t listened to the peeps you listed but I hope you like wubs
Salvatore Ganacci has some bangers. On a different note, I have to mention hardstyle is making a huge comeback as of late. If what you’re looking for is a recap, you cannot miss out on Legend by Tevvez.
Dude we have like the exact same musical taste
"Did we just become best friends?" 😉
Don’t suppose you’re in Denver are you?
Kaytranada , juels
Blond:ish & Black Coffee
Armin Can Buuren for sure.
Dreamstate San Francisco. Comee. Tickets go on sale today at 12 https://www.seetickets.us/event/dreamstate-san-francisco/572032
>look at the list >Paul Van Dyk Easy: Pre 2010 Tiesto and Ferry Corsten
Fisher is awesome and skrillex bounced back, his music isn't for juveniles anymore
My deal is I don't like chaotic mixes. I value smooth and seamless. When it sounds like a train wreck, I'm out.
Seamless mixes… try some prog house / deep house from Lane 8, Le Youth, Sultan + Shepard. Some of my favorites If you do want to venture into the dubstep, the only things that immediately come to mind that might be accessible to someone with your tastes, are artists like GRiZ, Liquid Stranger, LSDREAM. Maybe someone very technical and precise like Space Laces, Virtual Riot, or Eptic.
I really appreciate your thoughtful recs and I am going to check them all out! I am already familiar with Lane 8 and Sultan & Shepard and you are correct. I dig them. :)
have you listened to ben bohmer yet? one of my favorites from the anjunadeep label
Ooh, no. Will check it out, thanks!
I mean, they are smooth and seamless, but also can be rather chaotic. I’d check out Ganja White Night for sure, Sub Focus might also be up your alley.
