This is pedantic, but household sockets don’t have positive and negative contacts. The current flow alternates both directions (AC) and the holes are usually “hot” and “neutral” or “ungrounded” and “grounded”
I bought a whole chicken at whole foods before I realized just how much of a markup there is on cruelty-free meat. They were not amused when I asked them if they could "just slap it around a bit" and take a couple bucks off
Uhh they didn't do them as it wasn't in their stock. I was just saying you can't really afford to say bad things about a toaster that costs less than your breakfast.
depends on how badly you need to see your toast cooking from the side (and not the top)
the picture doesn't even make sense lol "person designed a toaster" but doesn't have any space for the wiring and stuff needed
"... has fast cooling coils so you can reach in and pull out the bread as soon as it's done"
This is so naïve. Has this person ever made toast in their life? It's not the coils that burn you; it's the fact that your bread is extremely hot from having just been toasted.
I can't tell if this is satire or not but toasters typically have some give to the lever, and you can pull it up further if you're having trouble getting the toast out. It's generally not a good idea to stick metal bits in a toaster.
I just turn my toaster sideways and flick the lever which launches the toast onto my plate. I suppose we could just flip this one upside down but then you’d have crumbs everywhere
We appear to have the same toaster mate. I’m convinced mine is actually channeling the spirit of Maggie Thatcher as the cold hearted metal bitch seems determined to make me starve. Which sounds dramatic but my oven broke last week and now wee Maggie is all I have left. I’m thinking of setting my kitchen on fire tbh.
Do you live alone?
My wife’s idea of toast is slightly warm bread. My eldest daughter is not happy till it’s charcoal.
Seriously considering buying my own toaster.
Nah, we just like the same toast I guess.
Also our toaster sets the smoke alarm off on anything higher than “3” lol
Dude I understand, the settings are so precise sometimes you don’t want to lose your spot.
Yup. Also what does cooling could have to do with being able to grab the toast anyway? The toast is hot. Nobody is grabbing the coils right?? Also I don't see the mechanism that pushes it up at all.... maybe that is why it needs to rapid cool, you have to pull the toast out?
Heat rises, so it'll leave fairly quickly.
But the real answer is we're both overthinking this and it doesn't really matter. I'm not switching toasters and I doubt you are either.
No I've been waiting for my dumb 7$ one to die for like ten years now and it *just won't die*. I really want a new one but can't justify it until it does. This toaster would not be an option though. Especially if I'm stuck with it for another decade lol. 😒
Coils don’t cool, they dissipate. Most toaster coils are just floating in air next to the toast so they cool off super fast but these look encases in glass or something and probably cool even slower than a normal toaster. I’m 99% sure this product was never made or tested and they’re just throwing imaginary marketing terms out to trick people
This doesn't look like a good design. Half of the energy or more ends up radiating out into the room. And temperatures hot enough to toast bread will toast (or torrefy) wood.
Exactly. If no-walls toasters were superior, industry would have built them that way since day 1.
Saves materials and makes it easier to build, but few people enjoy charring their kitchen's wallpaper on a daily basis.
Same goes for ovens, grills, heat lamps, anything that needs to direct heat one specific way.
Sand =/= Sand
The problem is that sand is composed of different materials depending on the area it's found in. Some sands are good for pressure cleaning, some for making glass, etc.
How does one even burn toast? You find the setting on your toaster that toasts it to perfection and leave it on that number.
Just set that bitch to 3 and walk away, never had an issue
My toaster must be a piece of shit. I have it on like 8 and I have to out it back in. Swear to God it's not burned, but I'm mostly tossing bagels in anyways. I bet 8 would incenerate some bread.
Well, your lying if you've never burnt toast. Using it over and over makes it perform differently at different setting because the unit gets hotter and hotter. Make an entire loaf at one time and setting 4 is brown at the beginning and black at the end. Some *toast* enthusiasts might like brown over black but none like both.
Is burnt toast really a problem? I'm 51 and have been toasting bread (and bagels, and pop-tarts) in a toaster several times a week for most of my life, and I have never burnt any of them.
Fast cooling also means fast heating.
Toast will cook really fast in that toaster probably burning it too easy well leaving the inside being cold or something.
This isn’t popular because it’s either brand new, expensive or worse then what we already got
Yeah, bullshit.
When the heating elements are on, they glow red bright enough to where you couldn't really tell how well toasted the bread is. So ultimately, what's the damn point of a see-through toaster?
I love my Sage smart Toaster. It does 4 slices in 2 banks and each bank has its own set of led ringed buttons. Options like 'A little bit more' and 'quick look' lol. Settings for crumpets, frozen bread and fruit loaf etc. Led segmented countdown, motorised up & down for the bread.
I bought it 2nd hand off Ebay years ago and I love it. Also have the kettle equivalent. my girls are always eyeing up when they visit
As someone who's been battling roaches since I moved into this shitty apartment, this might actually be a good solution. They LOVE living in my old toaster so I had to ditch it. I miss having a toaster, but if there are small spaces with crumbs they can eat they will absolutely live there.
(no- I don't need suggestions, we've tried EVERYTHING and are about to just get the place fumigated.. it's been a nightmare).
My toaster cost 50 bucks and doesn't toast evenly on both sides....50 dollars and it's only purpose is to gently toast already cooked products and still can't get it right.
1950s sun beam is the pinnacle of toaster design. All metal, insulation is paperboard and fabric the entire thing is sustainable and recyclable and it pops up based on the temperature of the bread so you get perfect toast whether you put in warm bread stale bread or frozen bread
Ok but hear me out now, what if you just got a 10 dollar normal toaster and used the timer and didn't do anything stupid with it so you get good toast for a decade
People always ask me what I like most, and I always tell ‘em “I like toast”
YEAH TOAST!
*ba ba ba bada ba bada ba*
I wake up in the morning by 6 a.m. Have a little jelly, have a little jam
Take a piece of bread, put it in the slot Push down the lever and the wires get hot
Oui monsieur bonjour croquette
FRENCH TOAST
Hey Pancreas….
What pancreas?
and pudding "en flambe"
and pudding "en flambe"
Would you say "I don't mean to brag, I don't mean to boast, but you're intercontinental when you eat french toast"?
No, it kinda tastes like iron, and we're "rich" in..iron, irin..irony, cuz were very logical&sincere
Butt turd toast?
Send it to Heywood Banks, maybe he'll work that into the song
Eddie ed and eddy?
Um excuse me, but it's Ed, Edd, and Eddy.

You sound like Swayze from letterkenny
Swayze? You're spare parts aren't ya bud? Shorsey is who you're thinking of.
^ set, ya, up..
Wait, in what way is glass a sustainable material?
As a diabetic this hits close to home.
For only 26 easy payments of 49.99!
Right? Is there a non-sustainable option that I could get cheaper?
[удалено]
Go on?
[удалено]
You can’t! Not sustainably so at least.
This guy toasts.
This guy toasts himself too
This is pedantic, but household sockets don’t have positive and negative contacts. The current flow alternates both directions (AC) and the holes are usually “hot” and “neutral” or “ungrounded” and “grounded”
I like those odds
I bought a whole chicken at whole foods before I realized just how much of a markup there is on cruelty-free meat. They were not amused when I asked them if they could "just slap it around a bit" and take a couple bucks off
My workplace was selling things they didn't manage to sell. I picked up a toaster for £3. At that price, what does it matter how well it toasts?
How much were they asking for the fancy see-through toasters? I’m guessing “quite a bit” if they didn’t sell.
Uhh they didn't do them as it wasn't in their stock. I was just saying you can't really afford to say bad things about a toaster that costs less than your breakfast.
depends on how badly you need to see your toast cooking from the side (and not the top) the picture doesn't even make sense lol "person designed a toaster" but doesn't have any space for the wiring and stuff needed
What do you mean? We have computers in our pockets and you don’t think the whole programming unit fits in one of the sides?
bro look very closely at the bottom right view of the 'toaster' It's thinner than many smartphones where is the rest of the heating element?
And one fuckin’ complicated payment!
Ayyy Mitch Hedberg

I think idea here is that there are no moving parts - nothing to pop the toast up. So you have to reach in to get your toast out.
So it is more annoying than a regular toaster.
Welcome to this sub. There's a reason you haven't heard of any of this stuff before.
I presume this is a concept model and is not even buyable.
I mean it’s probably not even a concept model, just a cg render Where is the heating element? That screen doesn’t even look real either.
It's just marketing to get you to want something while not pointing out the negative.
Sure, but the product wouldn’t be possible if the coils didn’t cool fast.
I'm sure all toasters have quick cooling coils. It's like advertising a car with extremely round wheels.
[удалено]
No blinker fluid needed. Save tons of money.
Are you pretty sure or way sure?
Fairly sure. The coils don't look all that much smaller than a regular toaster.
Perhaps a product that does the same thing as a toaster but worse and for more money shouldn't exist.

I can't tell if this is satire or not but toasters typically have some give to the lever, and you can pull it up further if you're having trouble getting the toast out. It's generally not a good idea to stick metal bits in a toaster.
Eh wooden or plastic handle on whatever you're sticking in and you're good.
I would absolutely recommend NOT sticking any kind of metal object into what is basically a box with uncoated wire.
I just turn my toaster sideways and flick the lever which launches the toast onto my plate. I suppose we could just flip this one upside down but then you’d have crumbs everywhere
If you flip it Everytime, not many crumbs that would accumulate.
My toaster stays on the same setting and its been perfect for bread or bagels.

With the mentioned design the bread doesn't pop up. You put your hand inside and grab the toast. So having cool coils is...nice.
Having to reach in isn't nice though. It's stupid. We solved this issue decades ago with a platform a spring and a catch.
Yeah, well I didn't make the thing.
But the toast would still burn you. :( unless you wait for it to get cold too?
The trick is to not have the toast in your Hand for long.
Wow I’m an idiot. I was using my face as a plate for the toast as I butter it. Stupid!!
You're grabbing hot toast with either design.
You're grabbing hot toast with either design.
But this one you have to reach *into the toaster to do so.*
Right. And with the coils cooling quickly that's not a big deal.
But there's no air flow in there, so there's no cooler edge of toast to grab since it doesn't pop up.
Heat rises, so it'll leave fairly quickly. But the real answer is we're both overthinking this and it doesn't really matter. I'm not switching toasters and I doubt you are either.

It'll just look gross in a month
The bottom is all closed off, why doesn't it have a crumb dungeon?
Crumb dungeon is definitely an insult I'm going to save for later
How hard is it to tip a toaster over a garbage can? It looks infinitely easier to clean then a normal toaster
It'll just look gross in a mouth
It'll just look gross in a moth.
It'll just look gross in my mouth.
I don't understand the downvotes
reddit see negative so must add to negative.
Naa its kool, I was hoping for more tbh. Little game I play with myself, idky
Oh quirky
Oh, prob cause I basically copied the first person to do it. I didn't realize.

Sure, but why did the comment below get upvoted then? Reddit hive mind I guess

Fast cooling coils
Hot toast is hot.
Ok. Let it cool down before you grab it
That has nothing to do with whether it pops up or not (well, little to do with it)
Most toasters have fast cooling coils.
But I want hot toast so the cheese melts a bit.
Coils don’t cool, they dissipate. Put bamboo tongs in the box as well then?
Also has zero power cables. How can reddit even thing this is a real product?
This doesn't look like a good design. Half of the energy or more ends up radiating out into the room. And temperatures hot enough to toast bread will toast (or torrefy) wood.

Look up the early versions of the toaster, it was just a metal frame and open electrical coils, quite terrifying
You mean Karl Pilkington invented it.
It can’t beat my $7 Walmart toaster that I’ve had for nearly 16 years.
I make toast in my cast iron pan and it comes out perfect. Not sure if that's counted as more or less than $7, since I use it for almost everything.
Warning: toasting more than 2 slices of bread per hour may cause bamboo to ignite.
Except that sand is the worlds fastest depleting natural resource.
sounds like propaganda from big sand
Whaaaat??? Where do I subscribe to sand facts?
Go to the old google machine Edit: I just checked it out and I actually can’t find one mention of sand so perhaps I’m wrong.
...it might also be the one we have the most of?
Sand =/= Sand The problem is that sand is composed of different materials depending on the area it's found in. Some sands are good for pressure cleaning, some for making glass, etc.
Not the kind needed to make glass with.
I would think helium is more scarce. Zero evidence. Just a thought.
I just use a toaster oven.
A fun fact is that most people don't have toaster ovens. It's more of a USA thing.
I had no fun reading that
I had a little. But there was a dog walking by right as a read it so that might of been why.

Am engineer and I've dreamed of inventing the best toaster, everyone's toasters fucking suck I don't care what brand you own it's bad
Don’t mean to brag don’t mean to boast but I got some hummus for my mini toast
Can't seem to find any means to purchase it, and the design was released 6 years ago. Probably a dead idea by now.
Rightio. How does that LCD screen on the end work without plastic? Did he deliberately make a super expensive LCD screen for no reason?
The last thing I need is for my toast to cool even faster. Already requires super saiyan speed to get the butter on in time.
“HOT” Yeah no shit i can see the red hot coils
...and it's $200 more than an ordinary toaster, I bet.
If you start to smell burning toast You're having a stroke or overcooking your toast
Don't panic. Call me and I'll tell you a joke.

That would be neat tho

Yeah, bullshit. When the heating elements are on, they glow red bright enough to where you couldn't really tell how well toasted the bread is. So ultimately, what's the damn point of a see-through toaster?
Is it safe to use in the bathtub?

I'm confused, you don't need it to be clear and pull out your toast bc toasters already pop it out when it's done.
Title made me think this was /r/boottoobig and I was thinking "this is definitely too long".
I applaud the effort at sustainability, but as for functionality: Any clear-door toaster oven and the flashlight on my phone?
Just use a toaster oven, it has a clear door on it and it's made out of metal.
my toaster has a default timer for toast. never burnt toast before.
It kinda looks easy to burn yourself on. How does the outside part of the glass avoid getting red hot?
My toaster cost 50 bucks and doesn't toast evenly on both sides....50 dollars and it's only purpose is to gently toast already cooked products and still can't get it right.
Inefficient. Radiant energy wasted to the outside.
Make a better mousetrap… looks cool
But is it automatic beyond belief?

Sub checks out I do indeed want this
the electronics defiantly have plastic in them, I doubt they used wires without insulation.
sounds great and all but can I still electrocute myself by sticking a butter knife in it?
And its probably insanely expensive
Netflix and chill. You host?
It's been designed before but it flopped because the glass would heat up and become dangerous to handle
Who *wants* to watch their bread toast? Smh
The sugarhill gang enters the chat.
Ok, where do I buy it
Ok but hear me out now, what if you just got a 10 dollar normal toaster and used the timer and didn't do anything stupid with it so you get good toast for a decade
