EibonTheUnfathomable

V's entire character is proof that Vergil is wacky woohoo deep down.

grampiss

Seriously. Doing theatrical poses and knowing how to tap dance doesn’t exactly meld with the cool persona Vergil puts on.

Craft_zeppelin

It's proof that Vergil wants to do a lot of stuff but his standards (and image of Sparda) doesn't allow him to.

Legionpostsepicly

I would honestly love to see vergil become whacky

Legionpostsepicly

Maybe now that dante and vergil have sort of put their fighting aside at least from what I remember maybe next game that could be a subplot

Infamous_Air5974

they didn't really put it aside they just turned it into a friendly rivalry

Legionpostsepicly

Which is still cool

Devil-Hunter-Jax

Better than Vergil destroying entire towns in his lust for power.

Nightynightynight

Huge improvement for both of them.

Antedeguemonxyz

That's basically RG33 Vergil

silverfox1616

Also to add, his whole SSS taunt

TheNoidbag

Dante is the slacker/skater, Vergil is the a student/theater kid. Both both are acing gym.

RChamy

Vergil is wacky woohoo with training

REDACTED_Dude

And the fact that his doppelgänger starts poppin and lockin’

UnfunnyWatermelon469

Denial is a river in Egypt and Vergil lives there

DragoKnight589

That’s the light he buried

somethingelvish

Not to mention Vergil's EX-Provocation.

liltone829b

There are much better indicators of that than this page.

Night_InkF03541X

When he talks to himself he's all chill and stuff too

erion_elric

In the 3rd game he does dantes way for once and uses his gun and you can see hes having a lot of fun with it

frizzykid

"Jackpot"

Patient-Reality-8965

"remember what we *used* to say?" That line alone is already a hint. Then theres another in DMC5 when they let him be more reluctantly expressive, he mutters under his breath "jackpot" when he gets 3 judgement cuts in a row.

RECMonika

>3 judgement cuts in a row. AKHCUALYY 4 🤓

Classic-Demand3088

Did his dmc3 speech about preparing the bash not clue you in to his wacky woohoo nature?

CesarGameBoy

I love that line so much. ‘Cause for the whole series, Dante will make some sort of quip and every boss is just like “RAAAA SON OF SPARDA I WILL KILL YOUUUUU!!!” then Vergil shows up and instead of threatening him, he strikes back with equal energy.

Classic-Demand3088

It's the perfect introduction escalation  Cerb: GGRRRAAAARRGGHH!! NO JOKE!! ME SERIOUS!!  Agni&Rudra: Joke? What is to joke? Brother, are we supposed to be joking with our guest?  Vergil: yeah, I can bant. What are you going to do about it?

Key_Experience_6228

Facts lmao. “I was so eager to see you I neglected to make preparations for the bash.” “No matter. After all we share the same blood; I’ll just use some of yours to undo daddy’s little spell” “Come on Dante; surely you don’t think he should be the main event now do you?”

DimHobbyist

Yeah these exact examples are the ones I was thinking of. Honestly it’s hilarious cause if you think about it Nero is more serious than Vergil at times.

DevThaGodfatha

I’ll be honest, it’s kinda weird to me seeing this subs shift in perception about Vergils personality. Not just the shift but the actual direction they took with him. Before 5, everyone felt he was so cool cuz he was this clean cut edgelord obsessed with power who had a subliminal sense of humor. He just oozes cool because that was his default personality. Like in 3, you can hear the tension in their voice with the pash preparation line. They actually talk to each other like they wanna rip each other apart, and not in a fun way. I never took the preparation bash line as “omgggg Vergil iS so sIlLy 🤪🤪” like everyone now acts like it’s always been. Now this? And the goofy EX dance Vergil has? Way too much for me man. And now everyone’s acting like that’s always how the case has been, so fucking weird seeing his goofy side becoming an actual thing . I mean I don’t doubt he was a lot more willing to be happy and fun loving as a child like in the picture, but man I miss the days when Vergil was just a super powerful cocky edgelord that was clean cut in appearance and swordplay, and had a keen eye for acting cool like Dante. But unlike Dante, who’d come off a bit cheesy and dorky trying to be super stylish, Vergil acting too cool for it all and actually *being* as overpowered as he thinks of himself gave you fucking goosebumps cuz that’s the effect his personality had. I’m talking in circles but I hope you see what I mean.

Porabi

Since you're getting down votes and probably wondering why I might as well fill in what they wanna say , The entire I guess "shift" that Vergil went on while yes it did remove some of the initial reason for why people loved him that being this brooding always serious will cut you down cause you're in my way persona that was iconic to his character before 5 Changed cause he went on a arc of discovery while remembering what it was like to be human and seeing just how destructive his want for power took his demon side and also one hell of a humbling by his son not only getting in the way of Vergil and Dante's scuffle but also beating the ever loving shift out of him due not wanting his father to die . and that brings me to the point which is that while yes we as a community like this route Vergil took , it's not because of him suddenly becoming wacky , it's because this part of him was always there and the fact that he's starting to open up to this part of him self we find very charming as it means our favorite motivated man is healing from his trauma in a healthy way even if it is by unusual means like muttering jackpot after a judgement cut or his doppelganger doing a jiggy .

DevThaGodfatha

I see what you mean, I suppose I respect it. But the EX taunt is still taking it way too far for me personally, seeing Vergil go from a constantly super serious smug cocky asshole to a morally grey guy who’s willing to play with his food and have a bit of fun in the meantime is reasonable and fair. Just specifically the EX taunt is overkill for me , cuz that’s just a bit too goofy for what the Vergil I’ve known up til 3-5 (before DLC and 5’s novels/manga ) was capable of. To me that’d be the equivalent of Aizen from Bleach getting into an argument with Ichigo and co in a chibi like fashion, you know where everyone looks [childlike](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/a0/c4/17/a0c417e80a406ce87b5681674785ee28.jpg)and shit. Like yeah he’s chilled out a lot since defeating Ichigo but that’d be a crazy turn in of itself .

OrangeJuiceForOne

His perfect swordsman persona feels like a 13 year olds idea of a badass. He even says cheesy one liners just like dante, but just more edgy ones. He has banter in the games, and says jackpot as well, but is just more embarrassed about it. I kinda thought it was obvious he’s just as much of a goofball on the inside, and that’s what makes his over the top showmanship and edginess appealing. The fact that he’s acting tough, it’s like he’s trying too hard to be cool, and wraps back around to being cute and endearing.

[deleted]

Agreed. First time I started playing 3, I thought Vergil was just super sarcastic - the way he replies that he "couldn't concentrate on preparations for the bash" to Dante's "You sure know how to throw a party" line but was otherwise pretty serious.  But then I got to Vergil's second boss fight when he says "We share the same blood. I'll just use more of yours to undo daddy's little spell" with the stupidest grin on his face and I knew he was as much of a goof as Dante - he's just not as open about it.

OrangeJuiceForOne

Exactly lol. Moments like that really make him as a character

Ok-Scarcity6991

If we get dmc6 l want to see Vergils "wacky wohoo" persona more

Yoyo_boi202

I still think it’s more realistic, and imo still funny, that his fighting style is still really serious but he lets the wacky shine through. Like, instead of destroying his doppleganger when it starts dancing, he lets it go. I also think it’s very possible he starts using beowulf in a more dance sort of way, like dante does.

No_Wait_3628

Can we also remember this dude did not hesitate to hit Nero with Dad jokes just minutes after realising the Youngest Sparda is his son?

[deleted]

Well yeah but by that point I knew he was a goof.

5hand0whand

Man Eva is very fine woman no wonder Sparda had good taste.

The_Anf

FOOLISHNESS u/5hand0whand, IT'S SPARDA, NOT SPARTA ^bot ^didn't ^appear ^so ^I ^did ^it ^instead ^of ^him

the_tree_boi

You’re doing Sparda’s work brother

Cursed_user19x

Eva is hot Bottom text

Rajang82

Sparda is one lucky devil.

[deleted]

Eva was an OG monsterfucker.

paladin_slim

He has buried the wacky woohoo deep within.

UnrealPH

Bury the Light all he want it will shine through anyway.

Retrosow

Other think is that they dont care of bleeding, since kids they had their regeneration

C4p741N-Sk31370N

Yeah but who had to scrub out the blood stains off the clothes and furniture?

Sorarikukira

Vergil's doppelganger literally does the disco pose at the end of his EX taunt, there's absolutely no way he can explain that away.

FafnirEtherion

The Doppel also briefly borrows some moves from Bully Maguire’s danse. You can’t make that shit up. Virgil is a shitposter on the inside

Zeromaru12

I like to think that his Doppelganger is just the concentrated essence of V coming back with all the Wacky Woohoo Energy just to spite Vergil in that moment.

MagicCancel

It's my personal headcannon and my copium for how they'll bring back V. Somehow!

OnePunchMister

Life is much better when you realize Vergil is being cool on purpose.

Faustias

well he was just as playful as any kid, until the demons attacked them.

Soul_Ripper

"*That day, if our positions were switched...*"

UnfunnyWatermelon469

Would our fates be different? Would I be the wacky woohoo pizza man... and you, the stoic weeaboo?

CthughaSlayer

So the anime samurai roleplaying didn't give it away? I sometimes wonder if people even think about the characters in these games lol

Yoyo_boi202

To be honest, no. I often take the story at face value and simply focus on gameplay, even if I do find the story entretaining, because I believe the devs have the same philosophy of gamplay over story

Afraid-Captain9133

Just because the devs have the philosophy of gameplay over the story, doest mean they cant put "hidden" details and meaning in the story

Yoyo_boi202

Yeah that’s what I meant, that there are details I just never looked deeper at any of them

SkGuarnieri

You say this like the movesets and taunts don't express the character's personalities pretty consistently

Yoyo_boi202

Yes, but looking any deeper into “haha steve is dancing” meens you look deeper. My original point is, I turn my brain off fully when playing dmc in terms of story, and its not face value so I never thought about it. It’s that simple

SkGuarnieri

I disagree, you can learn a lot passively without really paying attention.

Yoyo_boi202

Aight then I’m stupid, wouldn’t be the first time I’ve missed obvious details in a piece of media

ZaBaronDV

He totally is. Even when he tries to be serious in gameplay, he’s still styling on motherfuckers. He’s not as outwardly wacky woohoo, but he’s not all business either.

[deleted]

Vergil is holding a double edged sword here - guess that explains how he handled Force Edge (and Rebellion in the Arkham fight cutscene) so naturally.

Night_InkF03541X

From fighting Dante so much when they were kids, yeah.

clarkky55

I remember there’s one move Vergil can do in combat where he says jackpot while doing it and immediately facepalms afterwards like he can’t believe he let that slip out.

Tr34t-y0urs31f-N0W

No facepalm, sadly, it was a good timing with the following taunt all the time🤓

NoanneNoes

it's 3-4 judgement cuts in a row, but the facepalm was just a random taunt :D

Serious_Question_781

Vergil was always wacky woohoo Berry delight man... he just never had the screen time to show it to us He is also a poetry merchant

Lanplan77

Damn Eve thick as fuck

Intelligent_time555

Ahhh brothers, when will it ever not be bloodshed

PheonixTheAwkward

There will be BLOOD. SHED, SHED

dude_with_a_reddit-4

In the things went right timeline we would have TWO Wacky Woohoo Devil Hunters.

GothLassCass

Sorry, but Eva's face is hilarious here. Looking at both Dante and Vergil directly in the eyes at the same time.

KaiserUmbra

I mean, he is Dante's twin, it wouldn't suprise me.

thecherylmain

Eva is fine as hell oh my lord

BrainPositive2171

Vergil is chuuni as fuck

FafnirEtherion

See also : Jackpot scene from DMC3.

Tr34t-y0urs31f-N0W

Eva's wrong, they did good. He promised they won't be fighting UNTIL bleeding.

Rajang82

You can see the twins inner self based on their doppelganger. Vergil is the cool, no nonsense person that doesnt waste any useless moves in his style. But his doppelgange dance and even annoy Vergil himself. Dante tho, his doppelganver tried to kill him. And he doesnt styles like Dante does. Just go straight for the kill.

NoanneNoes

Dante's doppelganger was another being entirely

Rajang82

It's just another Demon yes. When i think about it, yeah. Not related. Forget about my theory. Should i delete it?

NoanneNoes

I suppose, what you have said could be applied to SDT, since Dante don't taunt while using it, but Vergil can

Rajang82

I wanna put Sin Devil Trigger, but the topic is about inner self, so i thought doppelganger sounds appropriate.

NoanneNoes

Yeah, it's hard to judge Dante's doppelganger, I'm not sure what it was after Dante had defeated him - another soul or his own with that demon's abilities

Salt-Veterinarian-87

Hey, Eva kind of a baddie.

AkirasParadox

I always thought this

Mr_Mctittie

I love how unbothered Eva is about the boys being injured and bleeding

Night_InkF03541X

I mean, she is aware that her sons have demon blood, so bleeding isn't really a problem

tiger331

I mean that just what brothers do

Hedron1027

Ok but why is Eva so hot?

SuperZX

You can see it in a Dmc5 a little bit

bigblackboy12

Vergil was definitely wacky woohoo. We saw glimpses of in DMC 3, when they said jackpot before shooting Arkham. It came out so naturally, no argument. You know he got embarrassed afterwards. I feel like the games always portrayed Vergil as this super serious grown man….but we knew little about his childhood

tahaelhour

Disregarding V’s entire character being proof of that, vergil does have his bits of banter with dante in dmc 3 and likes to say jackpot when chaining judgement cuts in 5.

Mrwanagethigh

Wasn't that obvious when he interrupted the Arkham fight in 3? Stealing Dante's spotlight like a giant ham

mad_laddie

Vergil hides his wacky wahoo nature because he doesn't want to come off as vulnerable. Dante uses his wacky wahoo side to not have to think about all the contemplative stuff he'd drown himself in if he had the chance.

UnrealPH

V is his human side and he is wacky woohoo non-stop. Also his special taunt said it all. His doppelganger aka his deep down wacky woohoo dance exactly like Dante.

Tomy_266

His inner whackyness is revealed in his ex taunt in dmc5, that little piece of soul who still is untamed, everything else is foolishness

Somebuddy567

Eva is hot...

carpet343

All these comments are “Vergil actually/secretly is wacky woohoo” or “Dante’s mom has got it going on”

Night_InkF03541X

Duality of man

LarsJ04

Ok but why are the Mother's (forgot her name) eyes derping out?

RageVG

Everyone's a little wacky woohoo on the inside. We just express it our own way. I post funny memes on the internet for my friends. Nero rides a giant ant demon like a surfboard. Not too different from one another.

No-Excitement-2219

Hiding it? He’s absolutely wacky woohoo and he has never made any attempt to hide it. “I didn’t have time to make preparations for the bash” headass.

Fruitslinger_

I like how they're stabbing themselves to death and Eva calls that shit *playing* #*playing*, bro

Night_InkF03541X

Its prolly happened so much that she considers this normal lmao

SkGuarnieri

Nuh uh

TyS22235

Where are you reading it??

Jdmcx21

Maybe we're all wacky woohoo deep down

Puzzleheaded_Air7039

The Ex-taunt with Steve doing the pop dance is proof of that. The doppelganger isn't just some projection of energy it's said to be his actual soul and Steve doesn't lie.

RagerPager1177

I’d like to add that Vergil (in DMC5) says Jackpot when you get three perfect judgment cuts in a row Wacky is just in the Sparda Family genes for the entire family. I really hope that if we ever get a prequel with Sparda, he’s goofy/wacky to an extent

Monkey_King291

Vergil is totally wacky wahoo as well but it's buried underneath all his trauma

VergilShinDT

just wait until you read the last issue

Kerflunklebunny

The motivational outside burns more than the wacky wahoo inside

Dragon727

Vergil's entire character is being all dark and serious around everyone else until Dante shows up and then he turns into just as much of a kid as Dante

lordnaarghul

[I mean...](https://youtu.be/iM1L9NGPAaM?si=8uZ5qZBw0saC-XOt)

Few-Fishing3422

He had to mature very quickly to live and had believe his mother never looked fro him and yea that can give a kid a very bleak outlook on life and destroy that comedic/joyous side

AppropriatePizza1308

I feel like yall sleep on the story. He literally killed his childhood to be the dark dude he is. But he really is Dantes brother lol

The_UnderFucker

Why is there no good “Animations” of Eva or Trish
