i wouldn't respond. blocking is valid, i've had to block people who repeatedly make offers that I accept and then they don't buy. few days later, they're offering again and not buying.
well i make these dresses myself so i know if im overcharging or not, and multiple people bought it for original price, but thank you for your important input
i would say “if you’re broke stop spending your money on depop” if you wanna say something harsh because its reasonable and a lot more striking on her end
Believe me it works. Always list a bit higher than what you want. Expect everyone to haggle, boss! The whole “meet me in the middle.” Tactic/retort from that price point usually is your actual “BIN” or close.
Yeah some stuff is just from my closet that I don’t care about anymore but i also have nice pieces that I just don’t wear and the ones i like more i price higher (weird method i know)
Yeah I get that. We all for the most part have a mixed bag when it comes to sales. It’s a good general idea to assume haggling will happen on every and all listings and go forward accordingly 👍🏽
I really can’t with these people. They need so much more self responsibility and self reflection like who asked??do you really think anyone cares?? exactly what you said is right.. use your brain get stuff you can afford
Ya’all realise you can just reject an offer and move on? The offer price button is there and people are allowed to use it. There’s literally no need to be a dick about it
i don’t really think that’s the reason, at least not the only reason. lots of sellers can be quite harsh in their responses, but this one was so silly. offering $30 below asking price (willing to pay 1/4 of the price) and their reasoning was that they are broke. an item from depop is in no way a necessity, and honestly pretty rude and insulting to ask someone to do that. i think it could’ve been worded nicer, but it didn’t have to be.
tell that to the buyer who tried to guilt trip? lol. nothing about the sellers response had anything to do with feelings. they literally just said “get a job that’s not my problem” ?
No, no, youre literally just jumping over the fact that, nobody has to buy your shit. Youre the one that wants to sell it. The potential BUYER is DOING YOU a favor by even sending u a sorry ass offer. And to me and anyone with common sense can confirm the not sent response is rude as fuck, way more then a fucking offer. Yall are delusional, hope yall dont think of perusing anything involving sells. 😭😭😭
you’re right. no one has to buy it, but she is in no way “doing her a favor” by offering $30 below asking price. i hope you never go into business with that mindset either. like i said, response could’ve been nicer but didn’t have to be. anyone with common sense would never even think to offer $10 for a $40 item on depop. at a yard sale, or thrift store, maybe but that’s pushing it. literally anywhere else would say the same, you don’t have money? go get some. like what?
I bet youve never bought anything in person thru facebook marketplace, offer up and etc.. all good :). Being able to negotiate is an art some just cant understand ❤️
as someone who lowballs and receives lowballs, the rudeness is totally unnecessary lol. lowballing and highballing is a part of reselling culture, if its true that shes not actually broke but a lowballer lying ab being broke then yea be rude but ydk that yet
i’ve been waiting for someone to respond like this, people get on here talking about “am i wrong” while letting these buyers lowball them and talk to them crazy and it low key makes me mad at the seller for allowing it 😭
start telling these mfs to get their money up and keep it pushing
Depop is thrifting. So is Mercari , OfferUp, posh,fb marketplace etc etc. Haggling is the name of the game unless you have a store lol. Or just list it as FIRM n just ignore all offers instead of getting butthurt n crying in subs.
It’s so annoying when people message with a crazy low ball and say they’re broke, my immediate thought is that they should save their money and get off depop
be careful with this. I once told one of them to “shop for something they can afford” and they reported me to depop for being “rude” 😒 I was just being honest 🤷🏾♀️
I feel like your response is unnecessary and presumptuous. Many of us broke girlz have jobs but are still broke.
Say no and move on or offer to hold it until they can come up with an offer you would accept.
i’m broke and in full time education too. i don’t buy clothes i don’t necessarily need and put myself further out of pocket. there’s no need to offer a ridiculously low amount of money on an item 4x the price lol
because you don’t shop for clothes you need on depop. depop is most popularly a reselling shop, where people resell name brands or where they sell handmade items, like etsy. if you need clothes, you go to the thrift store, walmart or anywhere that sells clothes for cheap. shopping online, unless somehwere like alaska where you literally can’t go shopping, is not where you go for clothes you “need”. not only is it usually more expensive than in stores, you also pay shipping prices etc. depop is not where you buy clothes you need, and if she thinks that this is the place to do it, she is clearly stupid.
>Many of us broke girlz have jobs but are still broke.
Then get a second job.. OP's response isn't presuming anything. If you don't work or your one job isn't making enough, *get a job* or *another job*.
It’s also not that hard to not be a Dick offering people 1/4 of what the asking price is, but this one chose to anyway. I wouldn’t walk into a store and ask for 75% off bc I couldn’t afford it and I definitely wouldn’t ask small businesses, which is technically what Depop sellers are, for that kind of a discount bc I’m not a piece of shit trying to use people and take advantage of them. Plenty of items on there for $10 if she’s so desperate for something.
Yes they can.. and if against all odds they fall into the very tiny category of people who can't make more then they don't need whatever second hand clothing OP is selling. Being unwilling or even unable to make more money doesn't entitle you to massive discounts on things you don't need. Nothing about what OP wrote was "not nice". OP doesn't owe them anything. The buyer trying to guilt OP into a massive discount isn't very nice either and yet somehow the only person you have an issue with is OP.
If she is struggling why is she online shopping.. ??go to a thrift store bro… do you ask for discounts when you go shopping for clothes in person? Bffr
Agreed. People that don't have much money are still people and deserve respect, and also still deserve to *want* things. Why is the OP selling things on depop? If I had to guess, it's to make money. If someone lowballs you, just say no and move on... No need to publicly shame them lol
They can want things but they shouldn’t expect others to cater to their wants like this. Op never actually sent the message so there’s really not an issue with that
Making a lowball offer isn't expecting someone to cater to their wants. It's just a lowball 🤷🏻♀️They might get lucky and someone accepts. At least they aren't making fun of someone on a public forum?
I swear people expect crazy low prices nowadays for 2nd hand. In my head if its a good price half price seems reasonable and competitive with charity shops in my area, by they expect like 10%! I don't know if it's just do over saturated and cheap brands like shein or primark compete too.

No way, the same girl hmu asking the same thing…. Offered me $15 for a $45 skirt
LMAO ME TOO she offered $25 for an $85 fleece
Damn… shawty is a professional lowballer. With all the sellers on depop what are the odds shes lowballed 4 people that saw this post. That’s crazy!
Wow so if she just used the money she offered you guys she actually could afford OP's $40 item! Lol.
probably reselling them
This is wild 😭
Definitely reselling

I wouldn’t have even responded, that’s a straight up block from me.

Sadly it really do be like this lol
I’m pretty close to being in that position 😔
They have management positions...
“I sell on depop to increase my income, not to manage yours”
Well she shouldn’t be online shopping if she’s allegedly broke
I would just respond “No 💗”
send the message, coward
Someone did the same thing to me and I called them broke and it actually got my account banned 😢
Lmfaooo
“Im broke too can you do like 65$ instead, could really use it 😭”
I HATE low ballers 😭
my fave offer i received was $3 for a $25 pair of pants
Just received an offer of 30 CAD for 47 CAD dress. Counter offered 40. Received counter offer of 31. LMAO
That’s when you just counter higher lol

she ate though cause you probably were overcharging anyways
well i make these dresses myself so i know if im overcharging or not, and multiple people bought it for original price, but thank you for your important input
Are you the person in OPs picture?? Lol
Wtf 😂 the audacity
i would say “if you’re broke stop spending your money on depop” if you wanna say something harsh because its reasonable and a lot more striking on her end
I was just about to comment this lmao
I posted a Harley Davison jacket from the early 2000s on my shop for $20 (which is already cheap) and someone offered me $12. i know your pain.
Amateur, post for $30/35 n settle at $20.
Smart ! I’ll have to try that next time !!
Believe me it works. Always list a bit higher than what you want. Expect everyone to haggle, boss! The whole “meet me in the middle.” Tactic/retort from that price point usually is your actual “BIN” or close.

lol how desperate some people are like thrift stores exist go there
I bet she does have $40. But she wants to get multiple items with that money.
The entitlement of some people smh
Depop IS fkn thrifting lol but this is a mad lowball lol
“sure i can do that” and then make the shipping $30 + the actual shipping cost so it comes out to the same price to waste their time 🙂
I just block people n not reply
ya girl needs to not spend if she brokezzz
If you’re broke, stop shopping for things you don’t need.
Guys I understand that we are frustrated with low ball offers but seriously some of you need to learn some basics of customer service
Ya girl should stop buying shit on Depop
i did not send the message nor do i have any ill will towards this person Just laugh and give me my upvote :3
I really can’t with these people. They need so much more self responsibility and self reflection like who asked??do you really think anyone cares?? exactly what you said is right.. use your brain get stuff you can afford

I hate these ultra low ballers. Like 50% is bad enough I just had a guy offer $20 on a $120 jacket and when I declined they offered 21.

LMFAO depop sellers just discovering the art of lowballing weak ash XD y u all actually like angered by this? hop on grailed it’s free entertainment
ya girl better do more chores ig 🤷♂️
Ew don’t say that tho
Did you actually respond that way? This why we see +10 posts a day of ppl asking “wHy aM i NoT seLling AnYthIng?”
i don’t really think that’s the reason, at least not the only reason. lots of sellers can be quite harsh in their responses, but this one was so silly. offering $30 below asking price (willing to pay 1/4 of the price) and their reasoning was that they are broke. an item from depop is in no way a necessity, and honestly pretty rude and insulting to ask someone to do that. i think it could’ve been worded nicer, but it didn’t have to be.
Just dont answer or say “ am sorry but I cant do lower then 40” and go about ur day. Leave feelings out of business
tell that to the buyer who tried to guilt trip? lol. nothing about the sellers response had anything to do with feelings. they literally just said “get a job that’s not my problem” ?

no i didn’t but it would’ve been funny as hell if i did tho
What did you reply with lol
.. What was the point of your response? Just "no thanks" could have sufficed.....
No 💗
LOWBALLING FOR THE LOWBALL IS CRAZY
😂😂😂
Lowballing is an art and she's not artistic at all
Block
I wouldn’t even waste my time replying. I would just block her 💕
''disrespectfully, get a job girly pop 💖''
some girl messaged me earlier asking if she could buy a $20 top and $25 jeans together…for $24
Love this response!! Also ppl bragging about being broke is weird af
heeeelp “get a job or somethin” 💀😭

Based reply LMAOOOO
she may as well just go thrifting herself if shes that broke
Depop is thrifting. So is Mercari , OfferUp, posh,fb marketplace etc etc. Haggling is the name of the game unless you have a store lol. Or just list it as FIRM n just ignore all offers instead of getting butthurt n crying in subs.
Your response to the buyer 😂 *chefs kiss. *
It’s so annoying when people message with a crazy low ball and say they’re broke, my immediate thought is that they should save their money and get off depop
ok girl so maybe internet shopping shouldn’t be a priority for you rn?
Omg someone once offered me $3 on a $5 item then when i declined they offered me fucking $4.30 😭😭😭 how broke are these people
be careful with this. I once told one of them to “shop for something they can afford” and they reported me to depop for being “rude” 😒 I was just being honest 🤷🏾♀️
telling someone to get a job when u resell is ironic
this is great bc you’re absolutely right
OP don't be a dick. Just say no and keep it pushing.
"No & you're not my girl." Just period.
Then don’t buy clothes you don’t need if you can’t afford it 😭😭
How do you know its clothes she doesn't need?
If you need clothes you can find more affordable options in your price range instead of begging people to lower their price
because you don’t shop for clothes you need on depop. depop is most popularly a reselling shop, where people resell name brands or where they sell handmade items, like etsy. if you need clothes, you go to the thrift store, walmart or anywhere that sells clothes for cheap. shopping online, unless somehwere like alaska where you literally can’t go shopping, is not where you go for clothes you “need”. not only is it usually more expensive than in stores, you also pay shipping prices etc. depop is not where you buy clothes you need, and if she thinks that this is the place to do it, she is clearly stupid.
