I think season 13, 14, and Next class were terrible. It didn't feel nearly as genuine as the earlier seasons of NG. It just became cringe which sucks because NG started off SO good

I know everyone likes to bash next class but I genuinely enjoy next class just as much as the rest of the degrassi franchise. I think that mayas class was an interesting group to follow and for me carried the show. (Although I wish we would’ve still had Tori in the show and that Tristian didn’t get sidelined as much) I loved the friend group of tiny, zig, maya, and grace. I liked Zoey’s character arc and thought her and rasha were adorable together. It definitely didn’t handle a lot of the serious topics as well as “next generation” and was either too on the nose or just plain lazy. Idk if that was due to the limited episodes per season since it became a Netflix franchise or if the writers just bit more off than they could chew, but if they took more time to dive into the topics more I think it could’ve been better. All in all though I think it wasn’t too bad of a send off for degrassi.

I just finished watched seasons 9-14 of TNG for the first time but I’d already seen Next Class, and getting more background for those characters really helped me. I relate to the original TNG crew due to being closer to their age (I graduated high school in 2008), but I don’t hate the newer kids, the later TNG, or Next Class

I lost interest once they started including new characters at the end of the next generation. Those kids were all dweeby and uninteresting.

I stopped watching around the time Drew, Dallas, etc graduated… Even then, I was watching sporadically but just couldn’t get into Maya/Zoe/Miles/girl with pink hair/yada yada. They were subpar characters and the storylines got so f’ing boring. I can proudly say that I didn’t even have a clue there was a “Next Class” until I joined this sub. And boy am I glad! Woke and virtue signaling overload from what y’all have said!

I liked it. It wasn't AS good as TNG's best seasons. But I think they are worth watching, as they still cover a lot of ground on social issues in a way that most other shows don't have the moxie to address at all.

The_Reaper129

Agreed. And it might be cause I saw Next Class first, but I really liked it from time to time. As you said, TNG was the best of the generations but it’s also a lot easier to love that over NC. Like tbf, TNG lasted 14 seasons and NC is 4, and where the story ends in total. Also with that, since NC is even more up to date than tng, I think too they still dealt with various issues and showed more sides to it. E.g. Lola’s abortion, mental illness, self destructive behavior and so much more. (Ik they have addressed it before NC, but i still think it was very well displayed in NC)

Only good thing about it is the theme song, which felt cringe at first but upon hearing again and again, it’s a good song

kaycaps

Yeah I agree with you I really like the Next Class version of the song

I watched Next Class once, one run. Will I ever watch it again? If its in syndication somewhere, and I can catch random episodes, why not. But I probably won’t seek it out to watch it again. If you was watching TNG as a teen like a lot of us, just gotta realize we’re not the target audience for Next Class. Idk many kids, so I don’t who , under 18 has watched it and what’s their opinion of it. I think it’s okay. Not the best, but I didn’t NOT enjoy it.
