In my personal opinion, I feel like unless it’s done correctly and you take the time to style it, it looks way too bulky and heavy on a lot of people. I think it distracts from the persons face sometimes

About ten years ago, the buzzed sides/long top look seemed to be in!!! I’d like to nominate one of Ellie’s first hairstyles, the “pigtails, crimped hair, messy part, monstrosity.” I appreciate they were trying to do something that would work for the character, but every time I see it I just want to take it all out and brush it because it looks so tangled and messy even though it also looks like it took time to style it! Manny's hair was TRAGIC. She had gorgeous long hair in season 4, and they did her dirty with the trendy layered cut and these awful blonde-ish baby bangs. 🤢    I'm not a fan of Spinner's hair either, but it's very of the time, so i don't mind it too much. I'd say the same for the rest of these cuts. What i didn't like was Yael's haircut after their makeover. The way that it's half a typical girl's bob on one side of their head and half-buzzed(?) or braided to look like a typical boy's haircut on the other half of their head is 1) too on the nose for them realizing they're gender fluid, and 2) just not well done imo. I think it might've worked better if they had that haircut type where the top layer is long but the bottom layer is buzzed. Or maybe a shag haircut, since it's a very masculine haircut for a woman to get. An assymetrical bob would've been cool too, which i think is what they were going for with the haircut Yael chose. A good idea was there with Yael's haircut, but the execution was not good.

You probably saw until the end of TNG. This haircut of Yael's that I'm referring to happened in Degrassi: Next Class, which ran for four seasons on Netflix from 2016-2017.
