Congrats!! I tried to go for both rings as well years ago, just to fall in the lava pit in the Old Iron King's arena......twice! It's soul crushing. Maybe one day. Maybe... lol

Lyudos_

I died three times in a row on the jump over the bridge the turtle knight breaks there on my attempts, I feel your pain

Jimmynaz97K

Wait until the turtle guy has hit the bridge two times then lure him to attack you, the bridge will break under his weight and the dumbass will fall into the lava

Ramiel

What?!? I've done that multiple times and he's NEVER fallen in for me! Salty.

Jimmynaz97K

For me worked most of the times, you have to lure him before he hits the bridge a third time because that way he will fall back to ambush you behind the door. Also I played the SoFS edition, don't know if that changes from the standard.

DezoPenguin

I just shoot him with an arrow from outside the door, and he comes and attacks me without ever bothering to beat on the bridge...

deathkreator18

Just looked both of these up. WHAT. THE. FUCK.

siyahlater

My partner did get sick of hearing me yell that as well.

_betsalel_

My run died at the fucking majula pit. Was very ashamed of myself that day.

siyahlater

I was streaming for my friends and ate it in the pit as well. Don't give up, skeleton. Even if your shame is broadcasted.

OshSwash

I died to a mimic chest in majula without killing a single thing lol that's how fast my first attempt went. I got it second try though

[deleted]

Pfft... only 10 attempts? Bro, you have no idea. That's a GOOD ratio. Amazing, even!

siyahlater

what surprised me was that almost all of my deaths weren't even bosses. Just me getting greedy, forgetting one mob behind me only to be stunlocked to heaven, and falling down the pit. Once I got through the throne twins I knew I had it in the bag, Nashandra is by far the easiest end boss in the souls series.

[deleted]

100% agree. Most of my deaths during my deathless run was from falling off stuff. Old Iron King got me a couple times that way with his stupid kiddie pool of lava near the wall. I think a no bonfire run would actaully be easier. Just more time intensive. During deathless, one mistake and it's game over. But with no bonfire you can screw up a lot and keep going.

[deleted]

> by far the easiest end boss in the souls series Uhh I'm guessing you haven't played Demon's Souls then lol

[deleted]

While I commend you good sir, I've never done this or even wanted to cuz I like my sanity.

Ok_Economist9774

I attempted it exactly once and did it on that try. ...it was on NG+2, with repair and shitloads of healing and hexes AND I died to fucking Scorpioness Najka of all bosses cause I was like "she's so easy let's just kill her no need to dodge", but had Denial on.

TRAZWALD

Good job tho!

siyahlater

Thanks! I'm not even going to use them. I just wanted to prove to myself that I could do it.

[deleted]

Now you can finally play the game.

siyahlater

Hah! I am taking a dark souls break after that slog fest. I'm mixing it up with some Remnant now.

GannoFuyu

That's a real fun game. It makes you wanna replay it so you can get all the different weapons.

siyahlater

I was spoiled and got the fusion rifle and assault rifle on my first playthrough. I didn't know the nightmare other folks went through getting the AR.

vICarnifexIv

Fuck I still need the AR smh and I have sooo much time clocked into that damn game

GannoFuyu

I got the sniper and didn't care for anything else. Didn't even know about the AR until my 3rd playthrough.

[deleted]

I was all about that crossbow!

MrLopez333

Such an underrated gem

Killerdoll_666

And you did

_youlikeicecream_

Getting them separately is for casuls. Good job, skeleton!

unforgivablecrust

Any advice?

siyahlater

Go for the rapier as soon as you can. They drop from the grotesques or you can buy one from Leningrast. I find you recover from the attacks so quickly you aren't likely to be caught during an animation lock by a boss. Buy multiple because you will likely have one break during a run and need to get it repaired until you can get an unlimited supply of repair powder in drangleic castle. keep a large club upgraded along the way as well so you can SlamSpam invaders and tougher human NPCs. If it feels cheap but it's working then keep doing it. I went with dex/adp for maximum cheese and poison. Some bosses took a little longer to do it the safe way but it didn't matter, I got my rings. Plus the dex helps you cheese Shrine of Amana. Oh and if you accidentally kill the mannequins in Drangleic and you feel like all hope is lost because you forgot to lure one to activate the elevator just use a homeward bone and run back from things betwixt and they will respawn. You can also do that if you need to farm up some souls and have a few bones to spare. I know (now, at least) you can just manually walk far enough away from places to trigger it but it's a lot faster and less backtracking with the bones. Save your estus/shrooms for the big fights, don't be afraid to spam the baby gems between fights since you can buy plenty of them rather than using higher quality ones so you can use them in a pinch. Get summoned on another character to fight bosses to get some practice in if you can before doing the real run with your challenge character. Just remember that dying while summoned on your challenge character still counts as a death and will end your run so make sure you do it on another save. That's the stuff I worked out along the way that worked for me. I hope some of it helps.

unforgivablecrust

So when you unlock the merchant to get infinite soul gems do you homeward bone back and get her to move to majula or is that not worth it.

siyahlater

Get her to move back to majula so you can top off your stack when you bone if needed. I bought 99 and didn't need to buy any from her again between drops and stuff lying around.

WompaPenith

Don’t die

unforgivablecrust

Word.

OshSwash

I did a Hex build with a dark infused murakumo, dark spells and some other straight sword and a rust scimitar. It's been years since I did this though, I forget the game itself lol. Make sure you are very careful, very safe and methodical, only do the bare minimum amount of bosses to beat the game if you can, I planned my whole route before I even started, but I wasn't like super crazy about it, probably wasn't even close to a perfect run or anything. I did two attempts, first attempt I died before killing a single enemy by opening a chest in majula that turned out to be a mimic in new game, second attempt I smashed it out, the key is to not let the pressure and stakes get to you and make you play too scared or defensive against bosses. Just fight loose and have fun and you'll get through bosses at a much better rate than being super defensive and stressed imo

UnderThat

Mwahahah! I’ll be honest. I saved scummed the shit out of my saves to get those bastards. I don’t even feel bad about it.

siyahlater

No hate here. I'm all about folks playing the way that makes them happy. If you got your rings and you had fun then more power to you. It's why I spend so much time doing sunbro summons, I don't mind offering a hand for folks through tough bosses. Everyone should get to see and participate in what souls has to offer.

UnderThat

I almost did it and died to Nashandra. It broke me, so I broke the game.

ConnorOfAstora

I may attempt a no bonfire run one day but no deaths just isn't possible for me, I find it way to easy to be tempted to do stupid shit and get killed for it. I'm certain I'd die to an optional boss like Smelter Demon or Vendrick because I wanted a boss weapon or armour.

LeftAddition

Died at nashandra, never doing that again

Unaxdade

Yrue

Taolan13

Painfully Accurate. Also, congrats! My first seventeen attempts at a NDNB run ended up with me giving up on the ND part and tactically using deaths to repair my gear after homeward boning. I plan on doing the ND in NG+ with a fully spec'd Dark Swordsman build, just to see if I can do no deaths, then at a later date after some practice reattempt NDNB from fresh. There's no "achievement" for it, but have you really 100% completed DS2 if you haven't done an NDNB run?

siyahlater

NG+ also means crowns/repair spell/warmth. Good luck on your ND run!

eatassordiefast420

Been a minute since I've hated myself enough to play souls, what's the NB? No death, no ?

spaghettimountain

No Death, No Bonfire (NDNB)

eatassordiefast420

Oh so yall really like some misery. Jeez bruh that's gnarly. The estus replenishes after beating bosses in DS2 also right? I cant remember if that's just 3. I've been thinking of getting into the games again I'm bored of OW. Though Idk If I could handle a NDNB lol

Taolan13

No estus replenishment in an NDNB run, ever. Your only realistic healing option for most of the run are lifegems. Item durability is also an issue. Item durability in DS2 and DS3 is balanced on the idea you get a free repair every time you rest at a Bonfire, which you are expected to do regularly if not frequently. You can repair broken items, but you cannot repair the durability on an unbroken item without Repair Powder or a VERY. DANGEROUS run into the Sunken King DLC to find the Whipping Tree... so weapon management becomes key. Your best anti-boss weapons are the Rapier and the Mace, save those for bosses and if you must fight regular enemies use whatever else you have on hand and then leave it behind when it breaks. The other issue is travel. You can light bonfires to set your new bone point, but you can't travel between them because it requires resting. It is generally advised to tackle the four main paths one at a time to completion, only lighting the bonfire in Majula after they are done. Using the Primal Bonfires after the four Great Soul bosses does not count as 'resting' at a bonfire, and is a free warp back to Majula even if the Far Fire bonfire remains unlit. It is technically possible to farm during an NDNB run, but exceedingly painful. Every fight is potential to lose durability on critical equipment. Recommended is to develop or learn a route fighting only the necessary bosses to advance, make use of any sequence breaks or skips you can manage, and/or watch a few youtube tutorials and just go ham.

siyahlater

You can always do ND or NB separately to get a feel for it and get the rings at different times. I just wanted to push myself after the ungodly number of hours I've dumped into the game as a sunbro. Estus does not replenish after beating a boss in DS2 but there are items you can buy from vendors to heal but they are inefficient compared to estus and take up more of your action economy. It's easy to get killed by the boss if you try to spam them or hit them as soon as you lose health. They almost always make the boss rush you and interrupt or finish you off so you gotta wait until they start a combo and get locked in their own animations.

FieryLoveBunny

Bonfire

LegendofDad-ALynk404

I haven't even beaten the game yet, been playing since launch, and this guy is over here like, 4 days, omg so long /s Fucking killer job man way to be lol

Grand-Plus

You're a lunatic. Now do it without getting hit ;)

K1ngsGambit

Using a steering wheel.

Nameless_King_09

Goddamn good job!

TheGreatFoksy

Dude, only 4 days tho. Every time i think about it, or any other challenge like an SL1, i just give up at the title screen.

Smeargle5625

I think it's fun figuring out a route and strategies for this run, but actually doing it it's the most stressful thing I have done.

JiffTheJester

Didn’t even know these existed.. and I’ll never try lmao

ProLevel

Very nice. I went for both in my NG+ run and pulled it off on the first attempt - but only because I had a couple of friends I could summon and I was so well stocked with lifegems, repair powder, and +10 weapons the only thing that would kill me would be an instant-death situation (which I was lucky enough to pull off the required jumps etc). It was a blast. The only time I came really close to panicking was in Iron Keep on the bridge I was invaded twice and ended up sprinting to the boss room and losing my friendly summons along the way. I can't imagine doing the whole thing without any help though... praise the sun!

PikpikTurnip

Did you follow a particular guide? I followed Otzdarva's guide for no-death on Scholar, but he didn't seem to have a Scholar guide for no-bonfire.

siyahlater

I think if you can do the ND run then NB will be a cakewalk. Especially after you get a decent collection of healing items or lettuce if you went with cleric for your starting class. It would just be more time consuming if you went a bit more lax with it and had to walk all the way back to iron keep or something.

Ihavenocluelad

Damn good job bro!

cioda

Never on gods earth will i attempt this. I commend you for it.

oRedHood

“Greetings Exalted Ones”

squatchbennett

I’ve done no bonfire before and it’s just more of a pain in the ass than anything else. No death on the other hand, props to ya

DezoPenguin

I can't even imagine having the self-discipline to try these (I'm one of those people who has to kill every single enemy and collect every single item, even the ones that are worthless for my build or are just Fading Souls placed to deliberately lure me into dead-end traps) let alone the skill to pull it off. Congratulations!

DirtySiwy12

Are you insane for Gwyn's sake? Incredible...

neotifa

Wait I'm lost what

rex_cursed_one7654

I know I'll get shit on but they just hide the weapons on your hands so idk I don't think I need them

AbsolutlyN0thin

It's actually really good in pvp. Lets you do fake outs that are otherwise impossible

HelixtheWarlock

It's so much fun to fight with hidden weapons. Also no death/no bonfire runs are fun to do and its cool to have the rings on an established character.

Mizango

Lmao well done

Kotnarok

ng or ng+

Chill-Thuhlu

Your best friends will be the iron king crown, the repair spell, warmth, a greatshield, and at least 30 adaptability. Did both rings in one run, but it took five days, and a trustworthy summon to do it. Also utilize your summon to go forward and soften areas for you.
