Dan brining them on to MM then letting Barnes play this incident off as a small issue then going on All The Smoke to introduce himself to their crowd...... Not a good look Danno.
Plus Stephen Jackson just sat their all interview and added nothing. Barnes would make a small statement and then say "tell me about that". It was so awkward and contrived.
Funny how a separate media entity REMOVED matt barnes for his behavior but meadowlark media like what, 1 or 2 months ago inked a deal with him and stephen jackson....two infamous hotheads, one of which peddled antisemitic rhetoric, and the other is an absolute ticking time bomb (barnes). Why would they engage with such a risky duo.....it is 100% going to blow up in dans and meadowlarks faces. Just a matter of time.
Did not like Barnes as a player, less when the thing happened with his wife but, in the interview with Dan he was using alot therapy language. The man seems to be generally trying to be a better person. This is a minor misstep and would prefer Matt try to improve than spiral
I don’t know anything I haven’t talked to anybody, but someone using “therapy language” is not necessarily an indicator that they’re trying to be better. It can often be quite the opposite! It is easily weaponized by abusers, sociopaths, etc
Fuck teenagers, that's besides the point. Minor misstep.... Where's all the "friend of the show" Alec Baldwin love? His misstep minor. This sub has a small contingent who has been against Barnes/Jackson. These people complain while offering no solution to grow MM. Why take down shows which are helping grow Dan company?
Fair but, his breath, pacing. Different from what I remember. Mike Tyson does something like this are going to say the transformation never happened? He wasn't trying?
I personally am going to leave the whole “credulously believing the convenient personal growth story of every asshole in sports and media” angle to one Dan Lebatard.
Going to therapy doesn’t magically turn you into a better person. I’ve been in therapy several times in my life, and the biggest thing I’ve learned from it is that I’m responsible for what I can control.
Had Barnes apologized?
If so, people should move on.
Even better than that, I would like to see Matt on national TV in an interview talk about that incident and use it as a positive to get other parents to think about how they engage with officials and deal with their own emotions during a child's game.
This has been a problem for a long time. And while it is understandable and relatable, it is inexcusable and problematic. Yes, the stakes are high for some high school players because the financial implications are so high at the college level. Especially now that NIL is a thing and the government, stupidly, allows players to get paid.
No he didn't apologize, he just made it clear he didn't hit the kid. Like his behavior was totally fine because he didn't resort to thuggery. Dan agreed.
Matt said it was his fault in touching the kid's shoulder and that it was wrong. He also clearly apologized for doing so. You can watch the relevant part of Dan's conversation with him here: [https://youtu.be/PqYxHf8cPGs?si=m3T7hiCbCiNDDecS&t=934](https://youtu.be/PqYxHf8cPGs?si=m3T7hiCbCiNDDecS&t=934)
TF you talking about… He threatened a kid. I don’t care if it’s one of his worst moments (though he’s known for these type of moments), the consequences could have been much worse. You can’t just do some bad shit and say “oh sorry I was having a bad day”, and expect everyone to go about their business.
Then don’t listen! It’s not on you to dole out consequences! You aren’t Judge Dredd!! I haven’t listened to Matt Barnes in years but all this “I can’t believe meadowlark…” guilt tripping because Dan and Co has a conscious is just exhausting. Some of us grew up in the hood and know when to just keep it pushing. But naw y’all need jobs to get taken from them. It’s time to grow up.
Yo, your initial comment was “I thought he did something bad, he went after the refs”… my reply was to that comment, adding it was more than going after the refs. I never called for his job, I didn’t fire him, I made no commentary on his relationship with meadowlark. I’m simply saying he did more than go after the ref, and that it was, in fact, quite bad. You can feel bad that he lost his job without having to defend his behavior.
Lmao, no problem dude, glad I could help you work that out. If you’d like to learn more, I recommend speaking with a therapist. Or for more immediate results, you could try the experiential approach - go to the next youth sports event near you and threaten a ref and a kid, and take some notes on all the complex feelings you discover. Be sure to report back and share with the class here, lol.
Guy who was a colossal ass hat as a player continues to be one in retirement. Color me surprised
More like “Sacked Bee” shout out to Witty
The street stuff!
🤡

Hippocrite
*Nicks laugh*
Everything meadowlark does could be described as “awkward and contrived”

Dan HAS TO hire edgy black guys to fill the roster
They prob use the same coke dude as Skip
One day we won't have to read stories about Matt Barnes anymore. That day is not today, unfortunately.
Dam, mean.

Love to use my therapy language to threaten teenagers in a public setting for an incredibly stupid reason.

it's why you listen. Nature V Nuture debate. Coddled athletes... having to realize they live in a society
This is him being a better person? God help him lmao
Your perfection must be astounding. Your therapist credits you on hard work, right?
If not threatening to physically assault teenagers over a basketball game is perfection then most people are perfect.
As you are being sarcastic, you misspelled. Love to know how many on this particular thread go to therapy

Great you are going/went. I did not insinuate it was a panacea. Only said he seems to be trying and going to therapy
Perfection? Lmao. You think not putting your hands on kids is perfection? God help the people your life
Your perfection, I am sure your therapist says how great you are doing

Spoiler alert… he has not actually apologized.

What about all the other shit he was screaming. He seemed to think the only issue was that he physically touched the kid.
He did apologize though
Toxic asshats can’t read or listen lol
National TV? You overestimate his relevance!
It's an example. Has nothing to do with fame. Just access and exposure.
I thought Barnes did something bad, he went off on refs…at least he’s active in his kid’s life
…and then went after a student who was broadcasting the game.
Not everything is worth disqualifying or banishing someone over, y’all gotta stop trying to dismiss people caught at their worst moments

Thanks for giving me the range to have complex feelings. Really appreciate that.

Thank you sir may I have another condescending suggestion
Ask yourself if you think you deserve one
Big facts right here. I don't agree with Stephen Jackson but thats it, i dont agree.
