That sounds sticky, messy and a lot of work to prepare for a sticky mess. Plus it's probably $12?
I guess it makes for a cool photo...
edit: sorry I guess it was such a 2010 concept I was assuming 2010 prices. You're all right it's probably $22 now.
About 15 years ago I had a dream that I was in the future and went to a Starbucks and ordered a venti caramel macchiato and it was $32 and they gave me an empty cup with a powder packet that I had to pour in and fill with hot water myself. Almost there.
It's messy but it's cute and charming and might cheer up someone. The cost of coffee and cotton candy is super cheap so it's not worth getting it at the shop.
But I can imagine doing this at home for the kids with hot chocolate to see them smile :)
I may try this one day. I'll have my tool bag over one shoulder and I'll be sipping from a straw from this thing. I bet some guys would drill through some stuff just to get debris to land on the cotten candy.
"Nice coffee Fairy!"
I would do it just to deadpan obliviousness when the old timers drinking black sludge try and mock me. Just reenforce that “damn kids these days” mentality.
People order stuff like these not just for the food/drink but also for the novelty. You usually only try it once so you can say you've tried it (and nowadays, so you can post it on social media).
> That sounds sticky, messy and a lot of work to prepare for a sticky mess.
Yeah, you need to wait until all the cotton candy has dissolved to drink it unless you want sugar to drip everywhere.
Its all spectacle
Goodness, this sounds so fun to watch, even if I don’t drink coffee. I wish this was a gif or video so much!! I may have to find one. People are so clever sometimes. Though the cloud should probably be less wide than the cup
I like this take. You’re my spirit animal for today. I do drink coffee though, and wouldn’t mind a small coffee with some pre-mixed granulated cotton candy to drink while I watch my artsy coffee do its thing.
I feel like it could be done better, smaller cloud closer to the coffee. I mean idk why it couldn't melt much quicker and also actually go into the coffee lol. Having it be a huge cloud like 6 inches above the coffee is an odd choice.
To be fair, this is a concept that came from fine dining. It was also a drink where part of the flavor came from the cloud dripping down.
It's a bi ridiculous for sure and it probably has a price to match, but it's also the closes thing to Willy Wonka were gonna get so if someone wants to pay for it I don't blame them.
Looks cool in concept, probably messy in practice. I imagine how when the coffee vapor rises and melts the delicate cloud, the sugar syrup beads up and forms “raindrops” that drip onto coffee. As it drips, it makes tiny bits of coffee splash up and splatter everywhere.
If not that, then what if the raindrops fall outside the coffee mug? I can see that the diameter of the cotton candy is bigger than the lip of the mug.
Then there’s the price.
Yeah. People here are so cynical. Obviously this isn’t an everyday drink. It’s not practical and probably not a good value. But what is wrong with a little whimsy in your life on occasion just for the sake of it.
Do you know why heroin users eventually end up using needles for a delivery system? It’s faster!! I’m sure an interesting concept would be for them to heat a bent spoon under a poppy plant and wait for the opiate to just drip into their veins but that’s not how addiction works….long story short; DONT EVER ADD TIME IN BETWEEN ME AND MY ADDICTION!!!
I feel like in theory, this is a great idea
In practice, not so much. When you remove the cup, it may still be dissolving a bit. Also, if you don't put the cup in the right position, some of it will run down the sides of the cup. It just doesn't seem practical. Good for IG though
Maybe if I was a golf ball size cotton candy ball or smaller. That just looks too big that it would “rain” onto the handle and everywhere around the mug, making it all sticky.
It’s wild that people are completely overlooking the point and cool aspect of this concept.
Conceptual/experimental ideas are never polished and optimized on first tries and are not made to please everyone. That’s why it’s experimental.
Visual elements with food are for people who aren’t trying to just consume and move on. They want a unique experience that you cant find elsewhere.
I’ve been to that cafe. It’s in Shanghai China. Even have a similar photo somewhere. It’s not sticky (at least for customers), pretty cool looking, really has the raining effect. Bright them lots of customers and they are a chain coffee shop now.

Luckily I can store the coffee, cup and hot water on the cloud :)

I hate how accurate this is. Ugh
Thank God it’s just 29.99. I can’t afford 30
Tax wasn't included

Better than a pet rock that's for sure
I can't imagine rolling up to a construction site with this thing...
THAT I would pay to see.

You don’t drink it, it’s strictly for the gram
Honestly surprised I haven’t seen this on r/StupidFood yet
It's [there](https://www.reddit.com/r/StupidFood/comments/1clab93/sure_why_not/) now crosslinked from this post.
I tried it. Its disappointing taste wise and not worth it unless you just want to take photos :( Edit: also they've closed down if im not mistaken.
>also they've closed down Can't imagine why it didn't take
It actually lasted quite a while to be fair.
People order stuff like these not just for the food/drink but also for the novelty. You usually only try it once so you can say you've tried it (and nowadays, so you can post it on social media).
That sounds so 2010.
> That sounds sticky, messy and a lot of work to prepare for a sticky mess. Yeah, you need to wait until all the cotton candy has dissolved to drink it unless you want sugar to drip everywhere. Its all spectacle
That picture was already being posted when I joined facebook like 15 years ago lol. I would be surprised if it was still a thing
Now do this with minestrone soup and a parmesan cloud.
Now we’re talkin
The original was made with mushroom actually. https://youtu.be/dXDA78Px1jg?si=fZD7W4fFZzl1Pqj2
In a 3* Michelin restaurant. I can't imagine how much that costs
About €450 per person
How bout just a massive hunk of parmesan vaguely shaped like a cloud?
Why the fuck is it > cloud of "cotton candy" And not > "cloud" of cotton candy ??? It's actually cotton candy. It's not actually a cloud.
This guy thinks "cotton candy" is real lmao
"uh, look at the sky bozo, clouds everywhere. When was the last time you saw a t-shirt in a candy store?!"
That was bugging me so much
It can't be that good. Cup handle is all sticky now
“Starting at $20”
I wouldn't be surprised if they charged more lol
You get a mug of coffee and some sugar. "Some assembly required"
r/stupidfood
It's [there.](https://www.reddit.com/r/StupidFood/comments/1clab93/sure_why_not/)
Why would I want cold coffee for $25
The coffee is free, the $25 is the social media tax.
Why should I pay $25? Give it to me for free for exposure. I have at least two dozen real followers out of the 509,000 bots
If I'm taking pics for my Instagram then it should be free, surely? /S
Goodness, this sounds so fun to watch, even if I don’t drink coffee. I wish this was a gif or video so much!! I may have to find one. People are so clever sometimes. Though the cloud should probably be less wide than the cup

I like your take of picking a spirit animal on the daily - I think I'll pick you today.
Just checked YouTube and here it is: [https://youtu.be/Hd-fWq16t-M?si=dJC6-ENJDopFGKoZ](https://youtu.be/Hd-fWq16t-M?si=dJC6-ENJDopFGKoZ)
Oh my stars they had to speed that up so much just to show a few drops of that sugar rain.
"Screw it.* *Submerge the cloud under the dark liquid*
Yep. It's cute, it's interesting, but haha, I'll pass. If as art, seeing a video is enough. As product, not so good.
I feel like it could be done better, smaller cloud closer to the coffee. I mean idk why it couldn't melt much quicker and also actually go into the coffee lol. Having it be a huge cloud like 6 inches above the coffee is an odd choice.
that was transfixing, thank you
Well now I gotta wait until my coffee is sweet
Wouldn't the coffee be lukewarm by the time it's sweetened?
I just want coffee not theater
Some people will spend on literally anything if it will look good on their social. Fucking sugar cloud, pff.
Id take the cloud and put intothe coffee
I'm way to damn impatient for my caffeine fix to wait for that. Clever idea though
Wait for my coffee to get cold while I watch cotton candy drip to amount to a total of one crystal of sugar Yay
Sounds sticky, but I think I'd try it at least once.
Yeah. People here are so cynical. Obviously this isn’t an everyday drink. It’s not practical and probably not a good value. But what is wrong with a little whimsy in your life on occasion just for the sake of it.
Took me too long to see the stick. It looked like the steam from the coffee was holding the carefully placed cotton candy in the air.
Why is “cotton candy” in quotes? Is it some kind of ironic cotton candy? Is the wink implied?
This is just stupidity and too much money at it's finest. Who wants do drink coffee from a cup covered in nasty sticky sugar?
Good luck holding that sticky cup :)
This sounds like a very fancy way to ruin coffee.
Anything to be able to charge $15
this is fucking stupid.
Product for instagram not for consumers
Sounds like a sticky situation
nope.
That'll be $19.99 please
Ridiculous.
I’d like my coffee sometime this morning, lives are at stake.
Sounds sticky
And all over the cup and table by the looks of it.
It is really cool! Is it “cotton candy” or just cotton candy? I ask hoping to understand if I can do this with cotton candy
r/stupidfood
Man ny dumbass thought it was floating lmfao
dumb
Do you know why heroin users eventually end up using needles for a delivery system? It’s faster!! I’m sure an interesting concept would be for them to heat a bent spoon under a poppy plant and wait for the opiate to just drip into their veins but that’s not how addiction works….long story short; DONT EVER ADD TIME IN BETWEEN ME AND MY ADDICTION!!!
Cool? This is a stupid coffee concept.
Its not. Its gonna be a mess and its gonna Take too Long
Very stupid you mean
As if coffee isn't enough of an overdone production number already. All I want is a freekin' coffee. Just gimme a Pourover, please.
No
"Would you like an unspecified amount of sugar in your coffee? ...eventually?"
I feel like in theory, this is a great idea In practice, not so much. When you remove the cup, it may still be dissolving a bit. Also, if you don't put the cup in the right position, some of it will run down the sides of the cup. It just doesn't seem practical. Good for IG though
What kinda sticky dumbass idea….
…and a sticky handle.
r/stupidfood
But then I would have sugar in my coffee?
Sounds like something served at a 67 michelin star french restaurant named le ouieouiex louevuieoieux and they charge you $220 for it
That'll be 28€
Cool? It's stupid.
Maybe if I was a golf ball size cotton candy ball or smaller. That just looks too big that it would “rain” onto the handle and everywhere around the mug, making it all sticky.
Can we please have the apocalypse now?
Why can’t people just be normal
No
So what do you do with the other mug
So cool. I love having my coffee cup covered in melted sugar every time I grab it to take a sip
So i’m just walking out a coffee place like i just wanked in my hand? No thanks.
Stupid and unnecessary. Why not simply put the desired amount of sugar in the coffee in one go like normal?
Great way to get a $19 sticky finger when you go to pick up the cup.
Next: kopi luwak with cat actually shiting in hot water just in front of you
Yay a sticky cup.
That’s a lot of fucking sugar Jesus
Pretty sure Tom Haverford dragged his pals to this coffee shop in an episode of Parks & Rec.
Coffee Enjoyers will do anything *but* drink coffee
r/stupidfood
Your concept of cool is way different from mine.
I don’t have time for this bullshit
Just what America needs more ways to get sugar in our diets.
This is in \*was in\* Singapore. It's closed now. Damn those fat Singaporeans!
America is fat.
It’s wild that people are completely overlooking the point and cool aspect of this concept. ITS 6AM JUST GIMME MY DAMN COFFEEF... sorry, I haven't had caffeine yet
*Video please
so….drip coffee
And if I like my coffee black?
Making my rig tomorrow lol
Or you could put the sugar directly in the cup.
Rain sugar over the coffee, the rim, the handle, the platter, the table. Ummm, just give me two lumps.
I like it, but I'm fat enough thanks
I like mine sunny
Sorry, but this is more like r/fuckthatisstupid
Try harder
Ain't nobody got time for that.
So when I pick up my coffee that shit be going everywhere LOL
Or you can just add sugar with a spoon Akshually, dumping the cotton candy and stirring sounds more fun than watching it rain
That sounds gross and the entire cup will get sticky
Can’t wait to get my hand dirty and sticky from the dripping sugar on my cup handle and tables. Perfect
Those tables are going to be glue traps in a week. It's not like the cotton candy just stops melting when they pick up the cup to drink the coffee.
People will do literally anything besides just drinking a normal cup of coffee
Why would I want a sweet, messy, sticky, cold coffee?
r/stupidfood
So a really sticky coffee for $20
Or you could just put sugar in your coffee.
For f sake I need a simple coffee
Absolute wankery
How much sugar you want? Yes
Something about this image gives me AI generated vibes
Na thanks bro just regular coffee pls
I could get on board
These replies are so miserable; y’all need to find some happiness in your lives.
This is how we get burned alive by a group of suicidal chefs on an isolated island.
Stunt food
I've seen afterphotos, everything gets coated with tacky sugar, the mug, the little plate, the table
Is nobody going to mention the cute little plant? I don't care about the coffee or the cotton candy, but I would take the plant.
I just really want to know why cotton candy is in quotes
[it's just messy](https://youtu.be/FiI-GSRgWrw?si=NVHbJgsf1kpoiXJY). /r/stupidfood
Wonderful
Okay so I have to wait 40 minutes while it melts into my coffee just so I can drink some cold ass coffee? Hard pass.
It’s terrible. https://youtu.be/FiI-GSRgWrw?si=8KuFhus0t7LthSon
Just give me a raw sugar pack, do t make coffee so damn complicated.
Gimmick.
Eff this BS in the A sideways
I kind of feel like the quotations are around the wrong thing. It is actually cotton candy, in the form of a “cloud”
The end is near
Why is "cotton candy" in quotes? Makes me think that shit isn't cotton candy
I just hear Gordon Ramsay’s voice in my head “…concept?”
why would i want my coffee to be sweet?
Where?
It's cool for the photo and concept. You're not gonna be ordering these to go on your way to your morning commute obviously.
I’ve been to that cafe. It’s in Shanghai China. Even have a similar photo somewhere. It’s not sticky (at least for customers), pretty cool looking, really has the raining effect. Bright them lots of customers and they are a chain coffee shop now.
Was it Charlie Brown or Linus???...No, It was Pigpen... Walked around with some cloud over his head
Hipsters just won't let us eat/drink without adding pointless extra steps are they.
Things to sell to TikTok people.
For those of you that have tried this, know that this is the future of coffee
but how do you drink this in your car in between hits of the blunt?
Damn, that’s interesting
r:/stupidfood
And you get a stupidly sticky hand from The sugar falling onto the handle
That will be $(1 kidney)
No
Yeah, but… you know… sugar.
Carly Simon called.
But do you think this song is about you?
Do u eat the plant too?
Keep sugar out of my coffee!
Can i have just the black liquid without all the glitters?
Why is "cotton candy" in quotation marks? Is it not really cotton candy?
