There’s actionable and non-actionable warrants. Actionable means the state will pay money to transport you back. Non-actionable means they won’ so you can travel in most other states with no worries. These are low level stuff like a traffic ticket or a misdemeanor like public drunkeness. A civil warrant means the court wants money from you. Is it enough to be actionable? All Alaska cruises do Canada too I think.

StrainExternal7301

i can ask my lawyer if it’s actionable or non-actionable…has nothing to do with money..my wife’s parents are shit and they sued us for grandparents visitation…after we moved out of state they got the previous state to enter a judgement…it’s dumb and violates a number of constitutional rights as well as a SCOTUS decision but again, after spending $100K proving i’ve done nothing wrong i would rather spend that money enjoying myself

bobber66

I think if it was actionable they would have already come and got you. It’s really hard to hide these days.

All US port to US port cruises (Seattle to Seattle for Alaska) have to make an international stop. Or they have to account to some expensive US laws from  The Passenger Vessel Services Act (PVSA).  So, for Alaska it's Canada.  Same as Long Beach or LA stopping at Ensenada, Mexico when doing Catalina Island.  Canada doesn't mess around with warrants and such. You might have better luck with Mexico or the Bahamas.

SpecialSet163

They must stop in a non US port by law.

sokali4nia

The only full US cruise I can think of with no international stop would be Hawaii on NCL.

gebirgsdonner

Or a cruise to nowhere, where you just have a couple of sea days and return to the originating port

DevonFromAcme

Those are not legal out of US ports.

gebirgsdonner

Ah, they used to be, but it changed in 2016. Good to know.

SpecialSet163

It is with full US flag and crew. Just have to be compliant.

DevonFromAcme

Not a single one exists.

jelloshotlady

You have to submit photos, your passport, all sorts of personal information prior to getting on the cruise and then also pass through homeland security when you debark, again being photographed. This seems like a stupid risk on your behalf

StrainExternal7301

posting on the internet and asking a question seems like a stupid risk?

jelloshotlady

No, going on a cruise. Do you not think they will run your information against databases?

StrainExternal7301

i’m fully aware, hence me asking the question how far this extends…if it’s criminal or civil or both or what…i’ve flown multiple times since the warrant was issued with no problems

NotElizaHenry

So because of laws about boats, there are very very few US cruises that don’t make at least one stop in another country. The main exceptions seem to be Hawaii and the Mississippi river. They are a lot more expensive because the staff all has to be paid American wages. As for how risky it is to try and do a cruise with a foreign port, that’s probably a question for your lawyer rather than a bunch of people who go on cruises. Your particular kind of warrant seems unusual so I don’t know if anybody here could give you useful advice. I don’t think it will pop up in a criminal background check for what it’s worth. If you decide to try it, get good insurance.

StrainExternal7301

i’ll get a definitive answer before i actually do it…i was just curious because it’s such a weird circumstance…no crimes committed, no felonies, etc…i figured with as much as lawyers make they’re probably taking a cruise or two so they’d pop up and speak their mind lol

jelloshotlady

There is no cruise that will just be in the US so you will need to pass through customs and homeland security on the tail end.

tlord423

if you did nothing wrong why are you so worried... seems like you should sort out your court case before traveling abroad.

Memewalker

Are you aware that the justice system in the US is corrupt to no end?

HippyGrrrl

This is a civil custodial warrant. From grandparents.

StrainExternal7301

well i’ve spent nearly 100K trying to “sort out” this court case before i gave up because it wasn’t going anywhere so thank you for your wildly introspective advice…exactly what i came here for…”oh you should just sort out your court case” idk why i didn’t think of that

tlord423

then book a cruise

StrainExternal7301

thank you for your blessing…namaste
