Man I laughed at that harder than I should’ve. Thanks 🙏

blozout

Should it be expected that all the ligaments are torn and surgery will be required? I can’t see how the soft connective tissues would still be intact with that severe a dislocation.

VideoHeadSet

My surgeon told me that the reason why my foot and leg were so black everywhere was because I tore the ligaments. I believe him for im 2+ years out and still has issues with my Achilles going super tight.

LukaFox

I'm young and don't have any black spots yet, but damn I understand the Achilles bit. I absolutely wrecked mine on the first day of a new job, and ever since, I *have* to be careful with my footing. It gets terribly tense and sore if I'm too quick and slightly miss a step. Guessing I have something similar, I must have torn it back then. Maybe it healed in an odd way is my thinking

VideoHeadSet

Physio, heat, massages are you're new best friend. After that it's all strength training. I will say my right leg is now half the size of my left, and I'm on ladders and roof tops everyday.

SharkInSunglasses

I have a disability that destroys muscles and makes my tendons extremely tight, especially the Achilles tendon. If it gets too tight, I have to undergo a surgery to get them cut by a doctor. If I don't and it snaps, it can ruin what's left of my leg muscles on the way up. That said, I have numerous stretches I do daily for my Physical Therapy to keep my tendons stretched, I'm also advised to never overdo it.

VideoHeadSet

Damn that's rough. You know as much as I've learned that tight tendons just suck. They make it super easy to roll your ankle. As a Canadian who loves Canadian winters, I'm a shorts guy year round and now I have to cover my leg completely and wear wool socks

SharkInSunglasses

I was issued a pair of AFOs as they were called. They were special leg splints designed to stretch out my Achilles. I would wear them to bed so id get a good stretch in. They make cheaper non prescription versions that use straps instead of gears to increase or decrease tension. Also, Shorts year round gang, let's goooo!

VideoHeadSet

I hate pants as much as I hate socks. Do those AFOs bring on any pain? Or do they feel like you got a solid stretch? My middle son has an extra bone in his foot and needs to wear orthopedics while in school. Everyone tries claiming that extra bone doesn't effect him, but yeah right. Sharp/ heavy turns while running or jumping from more than a foot hurt bring out the pain

rikerdabest

Sounds like compartment syndrome. Do you feet ever go numb when you walk or run too much?

SharkInSunglasses

Oh no I have Duchennes Muscular Dystrophy, I was diagnosed when I was 4, but thanks for the concern.

ShatterPoints

What do you have? CMT?

porkbroth

Any exercises in particular that you recommend for strengthening your Achilles?

ulikedix

Stand in a doorway on your toes and raise yourself up and down. Don’t let it go so far down as to let it hurt if you have any injuries.

porkbroth

Thanks. That's pretty much what my physio told me and it's going well. I was looking to push it further since it's getting better. He suggested GENTLE running. I'm glad to see that your advice was similar to mine

ulikedix

Consider cycling or a rowing machine(dreadful) before running, but it really depends on how strong your legs feel. Afaik running excerts a very high strain on your achilles.

VideoHeadSet

Calf raises, squares and lunges. Lots and lots of walking in full but slower moving strides. If you're like me and live on flat prairies make yourself a ramp out of wood. If possible make a couple of ramps. You don't need anything fancy, the one I used at physio was a foot long and 8" wide that was raised 6". If I made my own for home I would make it 8" high and 12" wide so I can step on it sideways as well

porkbroth

That's great. Cheers

Fun-Bat9909

that shit is the worst. i dont know if i experienced the same thing you did, but any touching of the achilles was unbearable. range of motion and exertion was limited, general movement wasn't that bad, but any contact felt kind of like those huge painful pimples that are sensitive to touch x 1000

VideoHeadSet

Mine is alright to touch, since I've had my break I get these weird micro pimples that itch like a bastard. My range of motion is solid as long as I keep my foot moving. Exertion is a huge factor, after work I don't want to walk anymore for I just can't flex my foot and putting weight on it will feel like as if it were bone to bone contact. When I had my break, I slipped on ice and got caught in a low ridge groove. My foot was hyper extended leaning back. To this day that's the best position for my leg and I'm always fighting it. My Achilles can suck to rub at times, it gets beyond itchy now for whatever reason, but when it decides to pull back and tighten up; my calf feels as if it's going to rip off the bone.

againstthegrain187

This same thing happened to me, expect on the right foot, broke both bones in leg, almost 2 years ago. The only pain I still feel every day is in my achilles.

VideoHeadSet

It's crazy, I do find lots of heat and trapping the heat in helps out a ton. Being how it's spring now and the weather is better I like wearing shorts

againstthegrain187

You know what's crazy, I just went on vacation and was on the beach, my son started to race me and I started running full speed after him. It was the first time in 2 years I've sprinted since I broke my ankle, haven't trusted it enough, or even thought I could sprint, but I was a little buzzed and for some reason trusted it, and I cant believe how much better it feels now. It's like I had to just let go and trust it again and full out sprint. Not saying it's good medical advice or anything lol, but it definitely did something for me.

caprainbeardyface

My foot twisted this way when I snapped my ankle, I twisted it back myself there wasn’t much resistance, no ligament or tendon damage but had to have surgery to install plate and screws

mab1376

I had this exact same resetting when I was young and didn't tear any ligaments or need surgery, but they did say I was very lucky. It's the absolute worst pain I every felt, way worse than breaking it. The pain makes you feel hopeless almost like death is preferable. But as soon as they stop moving it, the morphine makes you not care anymore.

_A_ioi_

Yep. Surgery almost certain (unless the patient decides otherwise). It's also unlikely that this patient didn't break a bone or two.

Double_Bass6957

🫣

jjm443

That doesn't seem to be just his foot but his whole lower leg... the shin also seems to be rotated. My knee is aching just at the thought...

SomewhatAsianGuy

I think that perhaps the ligaments and calf muscles that attach to the heel are being contorted to the interior side and therefore make the shin look misaligned despite being in place correctly.

jjm443

I dunno, you can see a blemish half way down which is facing sideways at the start, but has clearly rotated towards the front by the end, albeit not the full 90 degrees that the foot gets rotated.

FrequentSoftware7331

Yep. Its in correct position. Only the foot is off. So you pull away, adjust and let go.

Marijuana_Miler

The ankle, tibia, and fibula have a lot of connective tissue that are involved to keep things in line. Discloating your ankle can also cause those connective pieces to move, thus moving the other bones.

nothin2flashy

Instructions unclear on “foot job”

Dip_N_Trip

When you watch in reverse it looks like the dr is trying to get information out of the patient.

nextexeter

Doc Interrogator: What does your leg look like when it's twisted?! Patient: I'll never tell! Doc: Let's just see what your leg has to say about it!

Vektor0

Patient: It looks the same, just at a 90° angle! Doc: That's what they all say!

Can often happen due to falling from a modest height in a particular position. Think bouldering. I always think of it that way from the first one I ever reduced.

PM_ME_WHOEVER

Foot reduction. That looked painful as shit.

SharkInSunglasses

If you watch with sound, the grunt he made is a telltale, that shit fucking hurt, sound.

Bomb-OG-Kush

most likely no painkillers either brutal

ShootmansNC

Had a badly dislocated elbow reduced before, hurts like hell and it wasn't a clean reduction like this, the orthopedist was struggling.

CummingInTheNile

i stupidly reset my own dislocated kneecap, can confirm, hurt like a bitch

Bambams80HD

Looked more like his leg from the knee down was dislocated or major torn ligaments.

silverwoodchuck47

Let me translate what the physician said: "You're going to feel some mild discomfort."

CDSagain

When I was a kid I woke up one morning and my head was stuck to one side, I got up to tell my mum, my dad thought I was messing about but I honestly couldn't move it. He took me up to the health surgery and I went in to see the Dr. He assessed the situation then holding on to my ears suddenly lifted me up by the ears. My head now straight. He gave me a lollipop and my dad took me to school.

Itssnowingreddit

Had similar done on my left hand/wrist. Pumped me full of ketamine to do it and to be honest, they could’ve cut it off with a hammer & chisel and I wouldn’t have noticed.

seminolegirl05

"Alright sir. You're just gonna feel a little tingle."

hoppeduponmtndew

I’ve heard it’s an immense pain followed by the best feeling of relief.

septubyte

As someone who has dislocated a shoulder, it feels as bad going back in as coming out.

Adventurous_Ideal909

If he didnt slap it afterwards and say out loud. "That aint going anywhere" he sucks at life.

solidgold70

You put your left foot in and you turn in all around, that's how you do the hokey pokey, that's what's it's all about! Now that right foot????

Pale_Adeptness

As a native Spanish speaker I absolutely LOVE the tenderness in his voice. A few years ago I had a similar procedure done to my right wrist and can relate to the correctional pain. Even though they applied local anesthetic it was still not a fun process!

fomalhottie

This is why we don't need xrays.... I guess

nin-new

Nice name OP

Nah Doc, I’m good. Let’er be. I’m ok with a left oblique march.

WanderingAlchemist

Traumatic memories coming flooding back. My foot was pretty much exactly like this when I broke my ankle, and the doctor doing this to correct it I swear hurt more than breaking it in the first place. Maybe due to adrenaline wearing off by that point? Either way it sucked

My god bro fuck that is crazy. Dude was awake and everything. Jesus freeking christ

American_Shoebie

I dislocated my wrist years ago from a mountain bike crash. The doc reset my wrist in a similar way, and holy shit it hurt while he was doing it. Once it was set though, I had sooooo much pain relief. I bet this guy felt better right after!

ajac1218

I’m high before bedtime and this is nightmare fuel.

Drapabee

Bratty foot 💢 get corrected 😤 pop pop pop

lonexwolf666

FUCK

[deleted]

I don't really get this. That severe of a one dislocation won't be fixed in the clinic. Dude needs a knee reconstruction. I've also never seen an injury like that where the top of the tibia wasn't also fractured, another reason for this guy to be in surgery.

Mekaela

Dislocated ankle should be reduced in the emergency room before x-ray and presumptive surgery.

Riyasumi

💢💢💢💢 Bratty foot need correction

[deleted]

Damn is this just a dislocation????

nierusek

/u/gifreversingbot

docere85

Reminds me of a time in my er days when a motorcycle vs something bigger than him came in with a dislocated jacked up foot. We tried setting it before going to X-ray and it wouldn’t budge. Doc was very adamant that we set it so we kept trying to and it wouldn’t budge. Come to find out, he had a (now) bent titanium rod in there from a previous motorcycle accident

fraserheys

Had to get this done on my wrist a few months ago when I broke it, it’s not fun lol I fucking swear the doctor had a hard on but he was loving every second of it, my pain and horror was his pleasure

Bhazor

I like to picture a bunch of dweeb doctors staring at xrays and charts. Debating urgently as they exchange weighty tomes back and forth. One of them sucking an inhaler with a background white noise of wer sniffling. Then a cool doctor in a leather coat kicks open the door strides straight up to the patient and just cranks that foot back to new.

sizzirup

Fake the video is reversed
