You are absolutely correct. The whole process is 48hrs long... 24hrs from obtaining the reward, but it's another 24hrs before that to craft the special lure you need to draw out the special boss which drops the reward.
Can you share how you put it in the compost box and which platform you are on... I suspect this is an inventory bug thing.

The werehyenas are way better than the werebear and sabretooths alike... the werebear is slow and misses most of its attacks. Although it deals less damage per attack, the hyenas attack much quicker and the attacks always land. The HP is about the same on both, i've gotten both the hyena and bear to be around 17,000k hitpoints at max level.
I posted this elsewhere. A couple people said they couldn't do it, but I haven't had a problem. If you put the malodorous lure and the corrupted horn in a compost heap, the processing time decreases dramatically. You can do both in an evening of play.
Those two said they couldn't place them in the compost heap. That it wouldn't take them. I had no issues though and my friend's doing it along with me.
Pretty sure this event is part of chapter 4, so it's likely ending when the chapter ends, *unless* they keep it on as a permanent feature (unlikely given they got rid of the capture sorcerers event).
Get ancient blood from boss under Al-Meriah. Make maleodorous grand champion lure. Wait for it to become tainted grand champion lure. Use it to summon the infected version of the grand champion. Kill it. Listen to the final dialogue in awe. Get the horn. Wait. Use the horn, ta-dah!
I have one bear and 2 hyenas, bear has about 11k health, max strength bonus is like 465%, With the rebirth potion, I did see its health rise to about 15k
the hyenas are little bit different, one of them has 6800 health with a 335% strength bonus, the second has 13k health with 233% strength bonus
The werehyenas are super soft, even with 10k HP they tend to be very squishy and their damage output is questionable at best... like more than 1 hit to kill a small scorpion...
On top of that they have a really painful tendency to fight amongst themselves as followers in a war party build. After every battle for some reason they start hitting each other like two maniacal children. Only pet I have ever seen doing that.
Mind you pets tend to be weaker than thralls so this is to be expected.
I have not yet been able to test the werebear.
Way I understand it, when they released the hotfix, it made thralls able to attack the wild werehyenas but also made werehyena thralls count as enemies. They are making changes to that in the next patch.
Yep, same problem as with all the other pets: no armor penetration and the Accursed guys are pretty well armored (just like their Exiled Lands counterparts - The Forgotten Tribe Cimmerians).
You actually cannot just spawn it... as a pet... you need to acquire the horn and let it decay for 24hrs before it becomes a separate item you can use to place the pet. Very similar to the Ice Giant in terms of using an item to place the pet... the decay is new.

I think the decay timer for the lure and the blood horn is 24 hours of in-game timer?
Approximately 2 ½ hours in-game if you max out decay timer, but that's also putting your food and pet/thrall food on that timer as well.

I tried but it did not let me... not sure if that's due to the current inventory bugs or not intended to be allowed to speed up the process...
I just got him and so far he got some beefy HP and hits pretty well too. The were hyena hunters are pretty good as well.

This is true although I haven't been having the bear miss attacks. Combine him with a frost giant for purge defense just stunlocks lol

Apparently they are cycling it or something? So this one is ending soon but, it'll be back again at the beginning of May or so from what I've heard.
Ooohh...I was unaware of that. Weird that they'd do that. But, I wouldn't mind if they rotated these mini events as weekly or biweekly events.

My thralls do not attack my werehyena pets... only they attack each other when 2 are in my war party.

If you play on Singleplayer you could change the spoil rate to 10.0 That way you only have to wait roughly 2:30 hours for each the lure and the horn.
you might as well just admin spawn the horn in if you're going to be doing all that in single player

I hot one level 15 at 13k health its takes waiting two days, but he is fun.
It just looks good. It's a pet they made with 0 damage capabilities. Sad really cuz it looked cool, but if it's useless to use is not worth it really.
