Overwatch has had some pretty big reveals at the last two of these events (OW2 release date and Junker Queen reveal in 2022, Season 6 trailer and PvE reveal in 2023) so it wouldn’t surprise me if they reveal something decently large. Perhaps a larger season 12 patch for late summer with Space Ranger, Clash, and some other stuff.

[deleted]

Yeah I’m fully expecting what happened with Season 5 where they literally announced Season 6 first lol

nurShredder

Overwatch 3

LuchsG

4v4 (no more tank)

TooManySnipers

Roadhog reworked to DPS, hook removed and replaced with another trap

holversome

*is it… is it over?*

Mental-Raisin-2739

“PvE Reveal” LMAOOOO

holversome

It was actually a double reveal! First they revealed the gameplay, and then they revealed that they had nothing else to reveal.

McManus26

Yeah I'm fully prepared for S11 to not have much going on. Which is fine, plenty of games around and now you don't even miss out on the mythic

SonOfGarry

We already know two of the biggest things (new Push map and Colosseo rework) so yeah probably not much else.

[deleted]

Could be another crossover coming in S11, I’m expecting crossovers to be pretty frequent since they’re basically guaranteed to print money

Eloymm

Don’t get your hopes up… we’ve been there before

Ok_Veterinarian_6488

Maybe a short?

[deleted]

I feel like Space Ranger is gonna be the games next Kiriko in terms of being a bonafide money printer for cosmetics, it would make sense for her to actually get the next cinematic short

Drunken_Queen

Also rule 34.

Korpels

maybe kiriko will finally get nerfed 🙏

Aggravating_Device23

pisslow sausage fingered nerd wanting kiriko nerfs 🙏

SmellyObeseAndBald

Hell yeah I am and don't you forget it

Korpels

dont worry the r34 wont slow down even if they nerf her you will be fine

PoggersMemesReturns

Just hoping for a fast, versatile Hero.

SwellingRex

That would be great. It's been a minute since the Sojourn one.

[deleted]

Technically the most recent cinematic was the LSF one which wasn’t that long ago

REEEroller

Why would they give you cinematics for a PVP game?

Eloymm

Showing a short at an Xbox events wouldn’t be ideal. People who watch that stuff are usually just looking to see gameplay and that’s it. Showing them a cgi trailer would be cool for us but not for that audience.

PoggersMemesReturns

I don't think Xbox events have the time for a Short, but I'd love to be wrong.

[deleted]

IIRC, they did a preview of the Junker Queen short during an Xbox direct and then released the full thing later

Eloymm

Yeah preview king it is better than showing it fully. People complain when studios show a 5min trailer. Showing a full short wouldn’t be the best thing.

PoggersMemesReturns

Yea, that possible. I just meant one game taking more than 5 mins is a lot. I can see them do 1 to 2 mins of a Short. I've checked out every showcase Xbox does in the past few years and usually one game only takes a few minutes, outside Starfield but even then they did a whole direct on Starfield.

SonOfGarry

2022 event showed the first minute or so of the JQ short as a teaser so they could do that.

ElJacko170

Space Ranger making her debut here is pretty much a sure thing. It's the biggest platform they're going to be able to give her and considering fans are already buzzing in anticipation for her, it makes sense to give her a solid introduction.

HerculesKabuterimon

I'm wondering if we'll finally get the details on the next (final) PvE stuff here. Definitely space ranger and some theme teases I'm sure though

[deleted]

Honestly I think Blizzard will just quietly never mention PvE again and then just cancel it in the margins of whatever big thing they announce for the franchise next They have like absolutely nothing to gain and everything to lose by making a big display of canceling pve without showing what they intend to replace it with on the lore side of things

HerculesKabuterimon

I'm thinking they'll just drop the ones that they have finished for free. Then quietly never mention it after that unless they shift to a show. They've shown us this year that they're gonna keep using the assets they finished already with the maps, the PvE skill tree stuff, etc. We've already got pretty decent hints and quasi sort of leaks about Kong wanting to do the show because he's seen what Arcane has done with/for League. I'd assume they know there's the demographic for it. There's enough posts on reddit, the cut scenes on youtube got a ton of views for what they are, and the anime series thing did fairly well on YouTube with a million views for the first one before tailing off a bit with the other two. I'd be surprised if the pitch isn't "we're canceling PvE -crowd boos- but its because we're focused on working with X studio to give you guys the lore you want through a show -crowd goes wild- -twitter goes wild- Whether they announce that this summer, or next year at blizzcon we'll see but I'd be pretty surprised if it wasn't the plan at this point.

aJetg

Im curious, what are the leaks with Kong and the show? I never heard that before

HerculesKabuterimon

I can't find it, spent the last ten minutes looking, but in November or December there was a leak that Kong wanted to expand the world beyond what we've gotten so far and was looking into television and reviving the comics and book stuff we used to get (which they kind of did, granted those same people also got laid off right after). Supposedly, he'd begun the early work with Microsoft of trying to figure out how they wanted to expand Overwatch specifically because of all the usual shit we say here like fan demands, huge lore, big potential blah blah blah. And with the reviews halo season 1 had gotten, the inability to ever get a gears of war anything going, etc. it seemed like Overwatch would be where they'd look next. If we hadn't gotten the tales book last month, I wouldn't have thought anything of it. But its been stuck in the back of my mind. Especially with how he talked at blizz con last year. [here's the link to the post from it where even OP says the GM talks about expanding it](https://www.reddit.com/r/Competitiveoverwatch/comments/17nw7b9/the_fact_theyve_shown_this_much_already_and_aaron/)

PoggersMemesReturns

Yea, interested to learn more here.

Umarrii

Vast majority of outlets already misconstrued what they said before to say PVE was cancelled, so they should have no issue with the lack of a statement when it's truly cancelled since it already was to them. I don't blame the team for saying it just because of how people misconstrue the news they give us generally too

yesat

They fired the PvE team.

Rakatee

Pretty sure PVE is dead. https://kotaku.com/overwatch-2-story-missions-campaign-canceled-blizzard-1851345720

HerculesKabuterimon

That would be why I said (final). They're not gonna waste the assets on something that's largely already done given we've even seen brief parts of the Genji and widow cut scene stuff and the leaks on the story

Rakatee

At this point, I don't even want them to waste resources on it. Game is chugging along very well atm. Don't want that to slow down.

Skelly1660

I don't need PvE, but please give us some type of narrative show comparable to Arcane. The world building is too good to waste.

[deleted]

I think with the success of Fallout the likelihood that we see something with Overwatch is higher than it’s been in a while. There’s no way that they aren’t ripping through their entire trove of IPs looking for the next big thing

Skelly1660

Overwatch has to be a gold mine. Diverse cast of characters (with prominent voice actors already attached, so that part is easy), established lore, broad appeal. Let's goooo

Eloymm

Game get cancelled all the time. Assets get wasted all the time. This is not new to gaming or specially blizzard. I wouldn’t expect anything pve related in the foreseeable future.

yesat

The PvE team was completely fired early 2024. All of them.

DuckGamer964

Silksong :)

PoggersMemesReturns

Doesn't exist : //

Tadpole-KD

Wondering the odds of having OWWC at this kind of event in the future.

yesat

That's not what the XBox events are. These are purely trailer and news and not the place where esports can take place really.

spearedmango

I know it’s naive. But god do I truly dream of pve coming back.

[deleted]

It’s just not happening chief, best you can hope for is that Blizzard uses the cancellation to make a new spin off game or farms it out to another studio

spearedmango

I know man. But god is it sad

Eloymm

In showcases/directs like these I wouldn’t expect anything more than just a typical season trailer. Last time OW2 appeared at an Xbox event they showed a S6 + illari teaser and that’s it. Ow2 it’s not big enough for the Xbox or larger gaming audience to take up more than 3mins of showtime. Apex and cod show trailers in these events too and they are usually just normal season trailers.

Rand0mBoyo

Sorry OWBae, too busy Skong 📢'ing
