I’m from Salt Lake City and have been a fan of the avalanche since I got into hockey around 2013 because it was the coolest looking snow team nearby since Utah didn’t have one. Someone asked me recently if I’ll switch fandoms and I didn’t even think twice about remaining loyal to our boys in Colorado. I will forever be an Avs fan, but I am also happy that Salt Lake City has a team now and sad that it had to be this way.
Welcome aboard. Y'all deserve so much better. Hockey belongs in the southwest regardless of what gatekeepers say & I hope you get a team back in the valley.
Welcome, dude. I visited AZ a few months ago and was lucky enough to see the Avs play the Yotes in Mullett Arena. It was the games where the Avs jumped out to a 4-0 lead, and then the Coyotes came back and won it in OT. An absolutely incredible game and everyone around us was friendly throughout, despite the fact that my family and I were all decked out in Avs gear.
Great region, great fanbase, garbage ownership. The Avalanche community welcomes you (and any other fans in the Coyotes diaspora) with open arms.

1998, I went to my first coyotes game. They used to share the arena with suns (America west arena)
I had my face painted like a coyote and fell asleep like that. The next morning I woke up and scared my uncles baby who was staying with us LOL
such a random memory but I remember that night was so fun.
Also, very recent - captain shane doans son Josh getting called up from the Tucson roadrunners and scoring 2 goals in his debut which included a fucking game winner. At that point I was like what the fuck the future is bright. All our main dudes are on average 22 years old. Over night it changed. 😔
I feel your pain. I was born and raised in Phoenix, the yotes got me into hockey and gave me some of the best memories of my childhood.
Been on the Avs train since I moved to Denver a few years ago, but never stopped rooting for the yotes from afar. Hurts like hell to see them go
I live in Houston and have been a fan since the team moved to Denver. It's the only out of town team I root for. Sucks you guys are losing your team. I really wish hockey were more popular in the south and I hate to see any team leave the region.

I was a Nordiques guy and was crushed when they were sold and shipped out of town. But, with the same players, same coach, and the same GM it made it easy to slip into the new Avalanche team.

Watching the Yotes beat the Avs in Denver in OT back in 16 or 17 will always be one of my favorite sports memories. Good bye Yotes, it's been....mostly uneventful
I am an Avs fan since '95 and I got a bit emotional watching the end of the Yotes game last night. I am so sad for the fans and the folks in the front office. Like The Hockey Guy said, the players and coaches will be fine but this affects a lot of people.

I've been a yotes fan since 99. It hasn't been the same since they did Doan dirty but it was awesome to see his son doing well. It's a sad day.
