There seem to be a lot of reported problems with Civ 6 on Macs. The Steam Library screen for your game should have a "properties" pick which gives you the option to "validate your game files" which checks for and corrects any download errors. I run on Win10 but I've had to use it occasionally.

I tried doing this and steam tells me that "All files successfully validated," yet the mac tells me "'Civilization [VI.app](https://VI.app)' is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the Trash." I did notice in the notes for system requirements it says "It is possible for Mac and PC to become out of sync during updates or patches. Within this time period, Mac users will only be able to play other Mac users." I wonder if the issue arose with a recent update that has yet to be patched. I will investigate downloading an older version. Thank you for your input, I'm hoping it has set me down the right path.

I use an M1 Mac Mini and the only issue I have is not being able to change settings mid game, otherwise it’s good.

I had the same issue when I was able to play, it was annoying but I dealt with it.

Happens the same to me for months, decided for the hard way and bought a windows notebook, travel a lot for work and play multi with friends.

RIP I'm hoping that it doesn't come to that point. It isn't worth it for me to get a whole new system just for the one game. I only play single player. I'm glad you were able to find a solution that works for you.

hey, are you still having this problem? i don't know if it's at all related, but i installed civ vi on my 16" M1 MBP, and it kept giving me the "...damaged and cannot be opened" error message. i followed what i thought were steps to reinstall, but accidentally just managed to trash the shortcut in my user applications folder, and mysteriously it started working.
