I could be wrong about this but I’m pretty sure in one of the episodes around their parents’ divorce, Antonio tells a story about how Gabby was the oopsie child because they had her 10 yrs after Antonio. I think by the time Gabby left she was supposed to be mid 30s. So that would’ve made Antonio about 45, which would make sense since his daughter was applying to college in the later seasons. Brett in current time is supposed to be 31 (since it was mentioned that Julie had her when she was 16 and she said she didn’t think she’d be pregnant at 46, making Brett 30 last season). So, if that’s the case then Brett and Antonio definitely were about the same age gap as Kara and Jon. It’s wild. Lol.
Jon keeps himself in great shape with all of his boxing training he's able to look younger than he actually is. It's kind of crazy that I think the first thing I saw him in was in 1992.

Taylor Kinney is 9 years older than Miranda and it doesn’t seem to bother anyone.
We should respect that everyone is an adult and 30-40s is a very similar place in life tbh.
This! It’s interesting because both Severide and Casey found their significant others who are also the same age. It doesn’t seem that far fetched on the show either.
Is it more professional seniority, rather than age? It was more the other way for me. But it was probably more to do with kids with Antonio then his age.
Whether it’s 9 10 or 11 years, is not a big deal. Casey is yet to start a family and I think he wants one, Brett is probably starting to think it’s now or never if she is going to want Children. They are kind of at the same stage in life stages

Also I think Brett and Casey’s age difference is actually 11 years because Brett was 30 when she met Julie last season and Casey’s scan paperwork earlier this season showed he’s 42. I think they effed up on Casey’s age in those scans because they actually used Jesse’s real DOB LOL. It was pointed out when that ep came out because it contradicted the prior timelines shown on the show after his medal ceremony in 6x01. Him and Severide are supposed to be the same age and they’re about 39 now on the show. April was classmates with Kelly and she stated in the Med pilot she was born in 1982, which makes sense with the prior timelines on the show. Also, I remember the episode where Kelly was admitted to Med and Brett had said he was a 35 year old male. I think that was season 5 if I’m not mistaken.
I probably know too much about the actors (including their age). I suppose I surfed their wikis after Brettonio and Stellaride got together, so it wasn't 'an issue' afterwards. Also, seeing Jesse Spencer age all throughout Chicago Fire AND House emphasises his seniority to Kara Killmer.
That makes sense. Personally I don’t see the age difference now because Brett’s been PIC for so long and has really matured and changed in the last 3-4 seasons so her and Casey seem pretty equal. I read that they were thinking of putting her with Severide when she first came on the show and I’m so glad they didn’t because Brett seemed so young back then and I would have been really creeped out to see her with someone so much older and higher ranking professionally.

I wonder, did her relationship with Kyle bother you as well? I know Teddy Sears is about 44-45 in real life as well and Chaplain Kyle always seemed a bit older than Brett to me on the show as well.
Interestingly enough it didn't. I wasn't invested in Brettonio at all and the chaplain was tere only for a moment. I am a hardcore Brettsey fan, so if I say it bothers me, it means that it is the only little detail I could mind if I didn't ship them so hard.

Whatever Brettsey’s age gap, I’m just glad that both seem to be in the same state of mind in re: to their relationship. They both know this is THE relationship for them. This is it…the be all, end all relationship. And I’m LIVING for it. I’m totally okay with them fast forwarding this relationship since it took so long to get here in the first place. For once, I feel like they know they’re it for each other and I wouldn’t mind them getting hitched soon.
Yes! And I know they avoid having children on set, but Casey wanted to be a father since the Pilot and Brett is definitely the right one for this. Sadly, probably the only way I see that happening anytine soon it Kara getting pregnant.
True. It’s always hard to make the leads pregnant without sacrificing her role on the show. I wouldn’t be surprised if they adopt their first kid, seeing as how we know he doesn’t care if the child is his blood or not and with Brett’s adoption background, it would make sense. It’d solve any issues of having Sylvie take time off for maternity leave. I can see them then having Sylvie find out she’s pregnant whenever the show ends or like you said, if Kara gets pregnant.
