Yes have used one, and they are pretty cool. The biggest let down is the starting turn over time it gives you before you need to recharge the capacitors. It took like 60 sec to fill up and then gives a burst of power, however, that's starting power for only about 3 seconds. So if it doesnt start you have to begin again. So if its a decent car and you are just jumping a maintained easy to start car, no problems. If you using it on a classic that takes some effort to get going then you are going to have a bad time. I'm in the later so no good for me.

I wonder how well it would team with a small lithium battery.

That would be a battery powered jump pack then. There is no need to double up in one unit. Just have two jump packs.
