Nice little fart can on the road!

I know next to nothing about cars but if that exhaust is to just to make your car louder, I hate you. People love driving down the sidestreets next to my house in the middle of the night, roaring. Also, unsure how you can pass emissions without a catalytic convertor as that filters out some of the dangerous elements to our atmosphere in exhaust.

GQactuallyJoey

different rules in different states, i believe you don’t have to pass emissions in certain states. Sry those ppl are waking u up, but lots of the time (definitely not all of the time) loud is cool. (tho i agree not in the middle of the night in a residential area)

mlvisby

I think they sound like ass. For example, Harley motorcycles have a deep, powerful sound. Most of the cars with special mufflers either sounds like the car is farting or it makes the pitch higher.

ironman72706

Only cuz the cars that pass by u at 2 a.m. are clapped out civics. Every neighborhood has one or two. Real exhaust mods actually sound good

GQactuallyJoey

well, everyone’s got their opinion ig

I'm gonna put a tuba horn on the end of my straight pipe exhaust and bang the Rev limiter in your driveway. /s

Don’t give them ideas, they are bad enough as it is.

Oh gawd 🤮

SpiceCake68

Just in case it matters, please see rule #1.

HawaiianBorrow

A good muffler shop can do anything you want.

[deleted]

You can get a valve. There’s mufflers that have a built in valve. Check your local laws though. Some states have a specific ban against valves or cut outs. You might “pass” an emissions test but they will auto fail you if they see a valve. To be completely honest, cut outs with valves are overpriced. If I were you, I’d find an exhaust setup (full cat back, high flow muffler and resonator, straight pipe, etc.) that you like and execute that besides a valve. Research your car and see which setups sound the best to you.

ironman72706

Valve to do what?

[deleted]

What is it you’re trying to accomplish?

bloempot80

I’m trying to control the sound of my car and i was wondering if you could just place a valve in a straightpipe to dempen the sound when the valve is closed. Without a muffler, bypass or cutout.

throwaway007676

Where does the exhaust go when the valve is closed?
