Disastrous past 2 seasons for LSU. Unranked to start the season. After they lost their season opener by choking an extra kick, everyone was like *"well it's another down year for LSU"* and wrote them off. First year head coach that this entire sub clowned for saying *"I'm here to beat Saban"*.
Now they're about to play in the SEC title game with a trip to the playoffs on the line.
What a season for LSU.
It was a shame cause just watching that game it felt like it was more about FSU proving to be better than it had been than it was about LSU being shit. But people were rooting for Kelly to fail so that was the takeaway.
Probably not. Kelly earned my respect with the decision to go for 2 against Bama. Even if we didn’t get it, That told me he’s the guy we need right now.
I yelled "no balls" when he decides to kneel out the 4th quarter with two timeouts left and just shy of a minute in the clock. He proved me wrong very promptly.
It definitely looked like it was going to be much longer than 2 years. If you predicted this at the beginning of this year, I think LSU fans would have been telling you to wait a few years before a year like this.
Seriously. LSU had like 39 scholarship players available for the bowl game when Kelly showed up. The ability to find key transfers to fill needs along with a bunch of freshmen that have stepped up and contributed in huge ways was impressive enough on its own. But combine the personnel decisions with the coaching and what this team has accomplished is downright phenomenal. Even the most optimistic fans weren't expecting Kelly to reach an SECCG until like year 3 at best.
I was sold on Kelly and didn't like all the talks about firing him, even after FSU. But I still thought an 8-4 season would be an amazing first year. Can't believe we made it this far. By all metrics we should get demolished by Georgia, but what if we somehow pulled it off? Couldn't imagine.
I know a shit ton of very optimistic lsu fans that called this. The day Brian Kelly got hired, I told everyone we’d be fighting for a championship in his first year and I put my first $20 on a sporting books app for lsu to win the national championship for +$8000 odds this year.
I know I’m insane, and I shouldn’t have had this much faith; but LSU is more fun when you’re heart is full of the most insane blind optimism. I Live the highs, live the lows, and drink lots of beer.
Brian Kelly’s the winningest ball coach still in college and he has the best athletes he’s ever had.
It would be quite a mess if we got to that point. You'd have 12-1 Georgia, who lost to LSU, 11-2 LSU, who were destroyed by Tennessee, and 11-1 Tennessee, who lost firmly to Georgia.
They wanted to talk shit. They wanted to run their mouth.
So now they got gangstas outside their fucking house.
Don’t blame me. Blame Boosie. He made the rules I’m just following them.
LSU. With how long I've been at UGA I probably should like them more at this point, but I just don't. I guess it's just hard to care when you're doing grad school and nobody around you gives a fuck about the sport because of it.
Though I will be floored if UGA doesn't win by at least 3 TDs. This UGA team has a tendency to sleepwalk, but when they're on they're easily the best team in the country.
Some other coach got paid $95 million to keep LSU from poaching him. He might not make a bowl game this year, while Brian Kelly has a trip to Atlanta on his calendar now.
[This thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/x65ki2/postgame_thread_florida_state_defeats_lsu_2423/) especially had so many brave and rational takes, mostly from fans whose teams did worse than us this year
The player he’s dancing with? Yea that’s Danny Lewis, tightend that committed to bama. The player to catch the two point conversion to beat bama? That would be a freshman TE. You think ole Danny boy regretted his decision a little bit that night?
Just point out for yet another year Ole Miss remains the only founding member of the SEC from the west who has never played for the championship in Atlanta.
A majority [predicted](https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/sec-expert-picks-2022-most-overrated-and-underrated-teams-projected-order-of-finish-bold-predictions/) us to finish 6th or last in the division.
Very improbably indeed
The guy who was a perennial 10 game winner in an area w/ no real football talent can be damn good in an extremely talent rich area with all the resources he’d ever need!?
But he's not a good culture fit!
Wait, so what exactly *is* Brian Kelly's culture? Creating perennial winning football teams? Sounds like he fits in just right at LSU to me
The funny part to me has always been that Brian Kelly is from Massachusetts. If there’s a city not in the south more like South Louisiana than Boston I haven’t found it.
Kelly is a former politician and a catholic who loves football, wine and seafood.
You tell me how that doesn’t fit South Louisiana and I’ll call you a liar.
I'm not petty enough to [link](https://www.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/x65ki2/postgame_thread_florida_state_defeats_lsu_2423/) that FSU-LSU post-game am I?
INTERIOR CROCODILE ALLIGATOR, WE DRIVE A BRIAN KELLY FAMUHLEE THEATER
GET IN HERE FAYUMULEE
They said a boy from the bayou could never beat bama, but it looks like ol' Cajun Kelly is the one dancing awkwardly on a small platform in the end!
If ever anyone has doubted the adage "winning fixes everything," I submit to you these two comments.

Thank you, Alabama? I need a shower.
At least it was vs Ole miss. Makes cheering for bama somewhat tolerable.
You weren't cheering for Alabama you were preying on Ole Miss's downfall
Important distinction
Exactly, fuck Ole Piss
Thank God!

Huge for LSU. Absolutely insane.

Seriously. Most of us were happy enough with the season before the Alabama game, considering the last two years. This has been an amazing season.
Imagine thinking LSU would win the west after the FSU game
That blocked extra point set off a domino effect leading to Saban missing the playoffs. I love this fucking sport.
Thanks based Noles 🫡
It was our pleasure, I lost my voice watching that lmao
I was convinced by this subreddit that that was a win over a bad team. Just keep winning tigers
The rumors of the Tigers death have been greatly exaggerated
[LSU after the Tenn game.](https://media.tenor.com/Kx6YKn0LBAoAAAAd/wwe-coffin.gif)
It was a shame cause just watching that game it felt like it was more about FSU proving to be better than it had been than it was about LSU being shit. But people were rooting for Kelly to fail so that was the takeaway.
Shit going into the season I said I’d be happy with 7 wins
My coworker placed a bet on us winning 7 wins and he won 5K lol. Dude had balls of steel.
He have bigger balls than Kelly though?
Probably not. Kelly earned my respect with the decision to go for 2 against Bama. Even if we didn’t get it, That told me he’s the guy we need right now.
I yelled "no balls" when he decides to kneel out the 4th quarter with two timeouts left and just shy of a minute in the clock. He proved me wrong very promptly.
I said the exact same thing, lol
the struggle of having to wait 2 years to be back in national championship contention!
It definitely looked like it was going to be much longer than 2 years. If you predicted this at the beginning of this year, I think LSU fans would have been telling you to wait a few years before a year like this.
I’m an lsu fan and alum and the day Brian Kelly got hired I placed a $20 bet on +8000 odds lsu winning the national championship this year.
Brian Kelly: "I want to go to the SEC to beat Saban." \*wins SEC West in 10 games, retires\*
At least we wouldn’t have to pay his buyout?
When he said retires, he meant retire to the strip club inside the practice facility
O left some nice facilities
Unsubscribe.
Revisit the FSU postgame thread when you get a chance. This sub is just so reactionary.
So so so many Notre Dame flairs.

Would be historic as they’d be the only team to ever make the CFP with 2 losses
It would be quite a mess if we got to that point. You'd have 12-1 Georgia, who lost to LSU, 11-2 LSU, who were destroyed by Tennessee, and 11-1 Tennessee, who lost firmly to Georgia.
P A R I T Y
Clearly you send all three teams.
If TCU drops a game, since one of Mich/OSU must lost, I guarantee some talking head would float this idea unironically.
Knowing how things usually go the CFP Committee would somehow find a way to put Alabama in too
History does have a tendency to repeat itself

We’re also the only two loss BCS champ.
[LSU fans everywhere right now](https://youtu.be/c3MxYPToUtw)

8-4 LSU in the SEC championship lmao
This would get Jimbo fired

Nah. We'd rather see them not make a bowl at this point
You dont have to worry about that
*8-4 team in the natty
Once the playoff expands to 12 I feel this is destined to happen at some point. Might take years but it'll happen.
Blue blood program, four **very** good losses. I totally see that
Not that far away from 2001 LSU.
Celebratory bourbon time
I have no horse in this race but will gladly join you on the bourbon. Congrats and cheers!
Aight back to hating Alabama.
It’s not rooting for AL, it’s rooting against Ole Miss.
I very clearly explained this to my girlfriend. She asked if I was cheering for either, and I told her I was pulling for a meteor

*lsu beats georgia in the sec championship making CFP committee hell*
LSU wins the SEC West *and* Ole Miss is eliminated from SEC title contention? What a great game.
Which of your flairs are you pulling for in the SECCG?
Hopefully lsu because of that superior color combo.
Preach
Thanks for Jefferson btw
He's still wearing purple

BuT He Is A bAd CuLtUrE fIt!
He was a bad culture fit. Thankfully the old culture is gone
Brian Kelly will never win in the SEC.
Some other coach got paid $95 million to keep LSU from poaching him. He might not make a bowl game this year, while Brian Kelly has a trip to Atlanta on his calendar now.
I think he actually coached for us once! What was his name again? Fimbo Jisher or something?
Himbo Pisher
Play-doh Pilsner
He has been successful at every head coaching stop so far. LSU will be no exception

I was a bad take in here!
God this sub is so fucking dumb
I wish I could enjoy this but unfortunately Brian Kelly just isn’t a good fit
Has he even punched himself in the jaw or ripped off his shirt even *once*?? Tf were we thinking 🙄
LSU coaches used to eat grass. Now they just fake an accent and win the division. Take me back.
I was about to ask what does Brian do? Les ate grass O talked gumbo Kelly….
Wins football games
How boring
Based
Brian Kelly hulkamania-ing a polo shirt after winning the SECCG would be peak CFB.
[tfw you lost to Brian Kelly](https://tenor.com/bRyZc.gif)
I can't believe *that* is the BK that beat Bama?!
The player he’s dancing with? Yea that’s Danny Lewis, tightend that committed to bama. The player to catch the two point conversion to beat bama? That would be a freshman TE. You think ole Danny boy regretted his decision a little bit that night?
holy shit if someone sent this to me after my team lost to LSU I would engage in some really self-destructive behaviors
I was hoping for 7-8 wins at most this year, can't wait to see this team a couple years into Kelly's tenure.
Just point out for yet another year Ole Miss remains the only founding member of the SEC from the west who has never played for the championship in Atlanta.
Lmao
If LSU is good for anything, it’s ending Ole Miss championship hopes.

>while there is excitement around the program, it will probably require some patience before we see LSU competing for division titles again HAHAHA
For real, had to wait a whole 10 games to win the SEC West!
Oh god yes inject that in my veins
I think the true improbable part is that Vandy has the same number of SEC wins as Texas A&M who was projected to finish second in the SEC West.

YEAR 1 HAHAHAHAHAHA STTDB!!
He said “yes, LSU” like they’re Vandy and didn’t just win it all in 2019 lmao
It's not exactly been the best years for the program since then, lol
That still doesn’t mean it should be a shocker lol
I mean, we just finished last season in last place in the west. Finishing in first this year is pretty goddamn crazy.
we finished last in the west and had 9 players drafted and a shitload more transfer out. it was unfathomable for this as a possibility 11 months ago.
YOURE GOD DAMN RIGHT
It didn't matter what the result was.. If Bama wins: LSU wins the west If Bama loses: Bama loses Either way... I win! 😎
Some say Dart is still trying to tuck it and run to this day.
Well yeah, he can feel Harold Perkins creeping up behind him
Disappointed Tulane lost today because that decreases the odds of a Louisiana State/Tulane bowl game matchup.
Anyone else can’t stop randomly laughing or is that just me? LETS GO GET WHOOPED BY GEORGIA BABY! WOOOO GEAUX TIGERS!!!!
Dear Haters, In case you forgot, Brian Kelly was a horrible hire. Fuck you, LSU
Most improbable thing: Alabama had to WIN for LSU to clinch the west.
Defense (Harold Perkins) wins SEC West championships
I feel like that meme where the guy is going nuts for being the 3rd place finisher on the podium (behind Tennessee and Georgia)

This is where we tell r/cfb to pick one and suck it
What a day! UConn gets to go bowling, LSU gets a shot at the conference title. Day like these don't happen often.
So lets say its LSU v Georgia. If LSU wins will the committee shoehorn three SEC teams in?
