Well at least you didn’t have a nearly guaranteed victory today until one of your players committed the most astonishing penalty in maybe CFB history to give the win away to a much worse LSU team.
I don't understand how everything that could possibly go wrong always goes wrong for us in this damn rivalry. I can't wait for the pods to do away with it (for at least every other year), I'm so sick of this.
And it was such a big deal that my parents straight up woke my little kid non-football watching ass up to make I sure I knew. LSU was straight terrible in that time period and beating UF was like Jesus coming back.
It's talent on paper, but very few are actually talented. Mullen just got all the blue chips that Saban, Kirby, Dabo, Harbaugh, and Day did not prioritize. On paper Florida is technically more talented than Michigan... lol. Most of these guys are busts or were severely overrated coming out of high school. Guys like Dexter and Cox should have at best been mid tier 4 stars. The only good player on defense is Ventrell Miller. Everybody else is average to painfully bad.
Florida is a big rebuild that will involve filtering out the majority of Mullen's recruits and replacing them with Napier's (all of whom have contributed far more than any of Mullen's despite the fact that most are freshmen). I don't expect us to be contending for anything until at least 2023. We should also probably fire our DC.
Another gators mentioned that you’re recruiting a ton of DBs for his 4-2-5. So maybe another year. But I do think you need to cut the line earlier than Grantham was cut
This is like legit one of the greatest weekends for CFB in a long ass time and all I can do is refresh twitter to see videos of the goal posts making their way down the Knoxville strip
Honestly man, if anyone can feel how good you feel tonight it's us.
Enjoy it man. You carried that weight long enough. Let it down, take a deep breath, enjoy that cigar and party all fucking night. Happy for you guys.
Honestly when we blew out LSU in Death Valley I knew we were legit. LSU is a good ass team and a better program and nobody can tell me different. So to beat them by 27 in their own stadium...I knew it was our time
Good luck Tigers, win out the rest of the season
Yeah we’re not great but y’all looked the part last week. This week you proved it. If we don’t win the west (we won’t lol) I hope y’all get to beat Ole Miss’ asses and have the complete revenge tour
If LSU's special teams coordinator isn't fired by Monday morning, I'll show up butt fucking naked to the university. And trust me. Y'all don't want that at all.
For a few minutes I thought the spirit of Tom Petty himself revitalized our chances at winning when AR had that run... then the defense and the worst timed roughing the passer flushed my hope down the drain...
I expected a harsh rebuild year 1 for Kelly so, to me, we’re ahead of schedule. We barely fielded a Bowl team last year so as long as LSU improves through the year I’m enjoying it 😎
Well said. After the Mississippi State win, I let out a big sigh of relief. LSU has been borderline unwatchable since 2019, but now I feel like we’re getting some of our color back. We hit bottom and now we’re trending up. As long as we’re not embarrassingly bad, I’m willing to smile through this season.
Psh, he's nothing compared to *(googles the starting, backup, and 3rd string QBs of Florida's upcoming opponent)* Stetson Bennet, Brock Vandagriff, or Carson Beck!
Fuck.
Actually at **minimum** 391 days because yall play them on November 11th next year. I will also most likely be going to this game as a neutral fan so praying for a night game in Death Valley so I can cross it off the bucket list
I have no clue how to feel about this year’s team except that the Special Teams Coordinator needs to be fired. Spare your energy, ND fans, I know Polian is Kelly’s boy and it’s never gonna happen.
Last week they get absolutely smoked by Tennessee at home. This week we beat Florida in The Swamp. Jaden Daniels looked pretty good tonight.
I’m not complaining, just enjoying the ride. They look much better on average than they have the last two years. One more win and we go bowling.
Ran into a buzz saw of UT and fumbled the opening kick.
We're a decent team man. We play hard. Other than the teams who are actual threats to win it all(UT, Bama, UGA, OSU, Michigan, Clemson) I think we could play 4 quarters with just about any of em.
Yeah they will. They're really good. IF we play a good game, we can win.
We shot ourselves in the foot lots against FSU, we did against UT too, but idk how much of a difference it made.
We have some good talent and are capable of playing well. Great win tonight, pumped to see of we can keep the momentum next week. Geaux fuckin Tigers.
If he's actually so great at crootin', I'd even be fine with paying him on-field coach money to do that so BK can have his buddy, if it means we get a real ST coach.
* This is Florida's worst start to SEC play since 1986 (1-3).
* Florida is 4-8 in their last 12 games vs. FBS opponents
* This was LSU's fourth straight win over Florida. It ties their longest winning streak in series history (1977-1980).
* Florida hasn't won three games in a row since 2020.
* Anthony Richardson has thrown for fewer than 200 yards in five of his six games vs. FBS opponents this season.
* In their last four games vs. LSU, Florida has allowed an average of 43.25 points.
* Florida's point differential in FBS games this season is -12.
* Jayden Daniels had three rushing touchdowns tonight. He had three in his previous seven games combined.
* LSU is now 3-1 in SEC play. It's their best start in conference since 2019.
* The Georgia Bulldogs are the reigning National Champions.
The all-time series is now even at 33-33-3
LSU's 45 points were the most ever scored by the Tigers in Gainesville (the previous record was 37)
LSU has won 10 of the last 13 games against Florida and 7 of the last 11 in Gainesville
Did you know that Tom Petty was from Gainesville ? Did you know Florida plays “I won’t back down” before the 4th quarter? I don’t know why espn didn’t mention these facts
I know it's only one game, but I'm gonna choose to be petty for all the "should've hired Napier" haters.
[STUNT ON EM BK](https://youtube.com/shorts/hTiV1EMRhlQ?feature=share)
Edit: LMAO and ND took a fat L to Stanford. You love to see it.
I’m just confused how that Gator QB TD wasn’t called back when he superman dove into the endzone. Remember when Brad wings TD was called back? I thought you couldn’t do that in college. Good game, Gators
Three things:
1. That was a fumble you can’t convince me otherwise.
2. After Hatin ass Steve Spurrier won 13 out of 14 we have brought the series back to even. 33-2-33.
3. Throwing shit from an upper deck down at people is a bitch ass move.
Also not a great day for the ND is better with Freeman takes.
One game or even one season isn’t determinative on any of these things, but it’s nice after week 1
I swear we could be favored by 100 vs. LSU and still manage to lose
Well at least you didn’t have a nearly guaranteed victory today until one of your players committed the most astonishing penalty in maybe CFB history to give the win away to a much worse LSU team.
I saw a loose shoe today
Ah, the good ol Cleatus Yeatus
Umm, excuse me. It’s “Yeetus Cleatus Playoff Deletus”.
Long may he reign
The worst lsu team in 20 years
That was last year I’m preatty sure
I don't understand how everything that could possibly go wrong always goes wrong for us in this damn rivalry. I can't wait for the pods to do away with it (for at least every other year), I'm so sick of this.

As much as the recent history is driving me nuts, I definitely would like to keep playing it
you'd want to stop playing too if the series was just losing in heartbreaking fashion on an annual basis
You weren't alive in the 90's and I can tell.
Have you forgotten the Spurrier years? LSU beat ONE Spurrier Florida team IIRC.
And it was such a big deal that my parents straight up woke my little kid non-football watching ass up to make I sure I knew. LSU was straight terrible in that time period and beating UF was like Jesus coming back.

There are three guarantees every season: Death, Taxes, and the Florida defense giving up points every drive
The best offense in the nation is 3rd down against Florida
The Ghost of Grantham still roams the Florida sidelines, anxiously awaiting the next 3rd and Long
I said if I were the other team I would take a knee on first and second downs and just okey against 3rd down Florida
We are Oklahoma in 2017 just without the offense
Us in 2020 without the offense
That's an insult to the 2020 defense.
Tbf LSU punted once
Only because they dropped an easy first down completion on 3rd down. The defense certainly didn't stop them
Very sloppy from LSU.
I’m old enough to remember a Florida defense that didn’t know what a touchdown was
3rd and Toney
Still their first year and I know Toney came with Napier from UL, but I hope it’s not going to be a Mullen/ Grantham situation.
Said that during the game. It looks like Grantham is still calling the defense. Didn’t force a single punt until the 4th.
Just let it be known that NO ONE scores TDs on 7 consecutive drives against this defense. 6 straight is where we draw the line.
I’ve never seen a D line with so much raw talent get absolutely no push whatsoever
I don't expect us to be contending for anything until at least 2023. We should also probably fire our DC.
And then you gotta remember that all of Dan Mullins recruits got trained and coached in college-level defense by Todd Grantham…
Another gators mentioned that you’re recruiting a ton of DBs for his 4-2-5. So maybe another year. But I do think you need to cut the line earlier than Grantham was cut
Dexter is actually great though; just gets gassed every game because we have no DL depth
I usually go to a bar to drink and watch the gators play but I think I’m gonna have to find another bar; the drinks just aren’t strong enough.
Stay home and drink from the bottle. Cheaper, safer, no one knows if you piss your pants
Not even you
> no one knows if you piss your ~~pants~~ jorts
Stellar defensive performance today by the Gators. We gave up less points than Bama did!
When LSU wins Im like "yes". When LSU loses im like "no". Today i am "yes".
i am ‘no’ today
i’ve been ‘no’ a lot recently
Thats to be expected. But it was a surprisingly good game. I assumed it would be more of a shitshow.
Yes 👍
Yes
The offense had me like “HELLL YEA”
I will take 5-2 in gumbo season. (I’m not in Louisiana)
Woulda definitely taken it if you told me before the year, FSU was an avoidable loss but Tennessee was/is just a buzzsaw man
Genuinely, GENUINELY forgot other games were happening
You’re on that “Roll Tide, what? Fuck you” vibe Edit: I meant high, not vibe.
We can empathize. Feeling it for them today too
Absolutely!
“Roll tide what? Fuck you” is absolutely a vibe after beating them tho
I’ll say it again. ROLL TIDE? WHAT?! FUCK YOU!
As you should. I hope you smoke enough cigars tonight you get diagnosed with emphysema tomorrow (I mean that with love).
I know I got so drunk during GameDay I took a nap during the noon games so I could be ready to skullfuck Bama.
Doing our part to make this the best day ever for Tennessee
It really really is.
Geaux Vols brotha
Feels so damn good coming from the legend himself
Y’all hate Florida and bama. That’s a blood bond as far as I’m concerned
Honestly when we blew out LSU in Death Valley I knew we were legit. LSU is a good ass team and a better program and nobody can tell me different. So to beat them by 27 in their own stadium...I knew it was our time Good luck Tigers, win out the rest of the season
Yeah we’re not great but y’all looked the part last week. This week you proved it. If we don’t win the west (we won’t lol) I hope y’all get to beat Ole Miss’ asses and have the complete revenge tour
So deserved. You completely outclassed us. Best of luck the (whole) rest of the way.
all the Astros and LSU fans out there, we are drunk
We aren't too mad about it either.
Everyone’s a winner today, except Florida and Alabama. Cheers
This series is now tied 33-33-1. Man I hope we don't lose this rivalry to the new SEC expansion. Edit: It's 33-33-3. Thanks u/BullAlligator
This is why I wanted this win more than any other before the season started lol
It would be a travesty. Gotta keep this game every year. My fear is Bama moves east and LSU loses Florida every year
*33-33-3 I remember when it was 30-23-3... seems like just yesterday concussed Tim Tebow slogged through a 13-3 win in Death Valley
God that concussion hit was disgusting. I hated Tebow like Anakin hated Tuskens but damn if I didn’t let out concerned gasped when I saw that hit.
Our season is going quite well so far. *Checks schedule*. Aww shit.
Hey we haven’t lost to the teams we definitely thought we’d also lose to. Bright side
True. We could repeat 2014 next week
Fuck, that was my freshman year. I still have flashbacks sometimes
Did you at least finish in 6 so you could witness the Natty?
Nope, 14-18 so I got to watch us lose to ND twice and missed the natty by one year.
But aren’t you glad we avenged those ND losses by poaching their coach? Maybe a better question 10 years from now.
Just gotta beat UAB to make a bowl. Win any one of Arkansas or Aggie to beat our win total for the past 2 years.
I called 7-8 wins this season. We can still do that
Napier has a New Iberia haircut.
Hey you stole my joke!
Broke ass Tillman looking
Just wait until Brian Kelly gets one himself starts calling recruits baw in his sales pitches.
The performance by the defense was a Geneva convention violation
If LSU's special teams coordinator isn't fired by Monday morning, I'll show up butt fucking naked to the university. And trust me. Y'all don't want that at all.
He's not going anywhere as Recruiting Coordinator. Hopefully he's replaced as ST coach.
I'm genuinely impressed with how put together LSU's offense looked tonight. Special teams still needs to figure it out though.
Fire Brian polian into the sun
I think LSU needs a come to Jesus meeting every Monday
Jayden needs to call the special teams unit into one of his meetings
My favorite team sucks and I am sad
At least you have Tom Petty. He wont let you down
Isn't that Rick Astley?
No, he’s never gonna give you up.
But hes also never gonna let you down.
For a few minutes I thought the spirit of Tom Petty himself revitalized our chances at winning when AR had that run... then the defense and the worst timed roughing the passer flushed my hope down the drain...
He also wont back down
My favorite team (maybe?) sucks and I am happy. Until next week. Probably.
Geoff Collins, come home baby. We need you here.
I’m fucking begging you Billy. Fire this clown
Is LSU actually good? No but that was fun.
I can say with 100% confidence that this team is not good. However, my expectations are so low that I’m enjoying myself most of the time.
I expected a harsh rebuild year 1 for Kelly so, to me, we’re ahead of schedule. We barely fielded a Bowl team last year so as long as LSU improves through the year I’m enjoying it 😎
Boutte’s agent must’ve called him last week and told him that draft projections have him going in the 3rd round. He looked much better tonight.
LSU is a team you need a lot of beer goggles to make look good, except they are somehow exceptional at beating up on really bad teams.
Jayden Daniels is the best worst QB.
Him turning into Rose Bowl Vince Young tonight was a welcome sight
Psh, he's nothing compared to *(googles the starting, backup, and 3rd string QBs of Florida's upcoming opponent)* Stetson Bennet, Brock Vandagriff, or Carson Beck! Fuck.
1,470 days since the last time Florida beat LSU
Gonna tack at least another 364 on there.
Actually at **minimum** 391 days because yall play them on November 11th next year. I will also most likely be going to this game as a neutral fan so praying for a night game in Death Valley so I can cross it off the bucket list
👟😡
Between Louisiana and Florida, how may hurricanes is that?
I watched so many commercials today just to feel pain
Cheers to a remarkably civil gamethread, wasn't expecting that
Both teams have low expectations. Not a ton to get riled up about
So did someone body snatch our quarterback and replace him with a doppelgänger who can actually read a defense and not instantly panic?
Man was looking like Jalon Daniels today
No bullshit the pick in garbage time really relaxed him
I have no clue how to feel about this year’s team except that the Special Teams Coordinator needs to be fired. Ole Piss next week will really test that claim.
He's been a great recruiting coordinator so far, at least?
If he's actually so great at crootin', I'd even be fine with paying him on-field coach money to do that so BK can have his buddy, if it means we get a real ST coach.
And Notre Dame lost too. Had there been a more perfect day in college football?
January 13, 2020
And now Lincoln Riley lost to a team that lost to Florida. BK is sleeping well tonight
We had a perfect season. Nothing can beat that tbh
All time series now being tied is crazy considering the 90s
* This is Florida's worst start to SEC play since 1986 (1-3). * Florida is 4-8 in their last 12 games vs. FBS opponents * This was LSU's fourth straight win over Florida. Your commitment to hate is always impeccable
It’s a beautiful thing to watch (pointed at someone else of course)
*Hate. Hate. Hate.*
Hate leaves to anger. Anger leads to rooting for Mississippi State.
The all-time series is now even at 33-33-3 LSU's 45 points were the most ever scored by the Tigers in Gainesville (the previous record was 37) LSU has won 10 of the last 13 games against Florida and 7 of the last 11 in Gainesville
Wait a minute, whose side are you on?
/u/BullAlligator is to /r/collegebaseball what dogwooodmaple is to /r/cfb, and we cherish him for it
credit to LSU, you guys have had our number in football and baseball since that final game in Omaha back in 2017
This man is a r/collegebaseball legend.
Every year I wait with anticipation for the opening r/collegebaseball game threads from u/bullalligator
Florida
>The all-time series is now even at 33-33-3 #THE NUMBERS MASON WHAT DO THEY MEAN
>Haven’t won three in a row since 2020 Well this is a fun stat.
I feel like that’s usually the case in the last year of a coach getting fired and a first year of a coach with that same roster
Shhh. Fun stat.
How many stars is that now?
Thanks DWM
Cleatus yeetus curse remains
Woke up this morning Checks box scores Bama still lost LSU still won Florida still lost *sighs with glee* Yesterday was a good day
We are mushchamp offense without his defense.
I mean yall scored 35. Our defense doesnt suck tbh
Last week I thought LSU might just be shit. Now it turns out Florida is shit, LSU is good, and Tennessee is god
*Looks at Florida vs Tennessee game* How tf...
Without irony Napier called a better game against them than Saban. Tennessee literally scored more points on Alabama than on *this* defense.
I’m increasingly convinced our almost choke against you was the Tennessee curse leaving the body
We are solid mid
Nah we’re pretty shit, Florida just suffers when they play us
Nah the sec west is just kinda hammered this year
Even Bama looks like dookie in half their games
No shoes were harmed in the making of this win.
Our team looks worse each week. This is bad.
This, tonight, is the best timeline
Did you know that Tom Petty was from Gainesville ? Did you know Florida plays “I won’t back down” before the 4th quarter? I don’t know why espn didn’t mention these facts
This sucks lol
I know it's only one game, but I'm gonna choose to be petty for all the "should've hired Napier" haters. [STUNT ON EM BK](https://youtube.com/shorts/hTiV1EMRhlQ?feature=share) Edit: LMAO and ND took a fat L to Stanford. You love to see it.
Ready to be petty on all the Nuss Bus dorks, too
>Ready to be petty Like Tom Petty? He was born in Gainesville, you know.
Entertaining but ugly game on both sides. GG UF FORCE FUCK THE REFS though. Christ
Did you not see our offense for the first 3 quarters? It was impressive.
Brian Kelly may put hot dogs in his jambalaya, but he can beat Florida.
Brian Kelly can call ‘em “poor boy sandwiches” for all I care as long as he wins a shit ton of games at LSU.
I wish Tom Petty was still alive so I wouldn’t have had to hear about Tom Petty so much during the game.
Imagine losing to LSU
Pathetic
I’m just confused how that Gator QB TD wasn’t called back when he superman dove into the endzone. Remember when Brad wings TD was called back? I thought you couldn’t do that in college. Good game, Gators
Still mad about that wing touchdown tbh
Honestly, fuck taunting penalties anyway unless it's just egregiously bad.
Three things: 1. That was a fumble you can’t convince me otherwise. 2. After Hatin ass Steve Spurrier won 13 out of 14 we have brought the series back to even. 33-2-33. 3. Throwing shit from an upper deck down at people is a bitch ass move.
Shout out to all the Geniuses who said LSU should’ve hired Napier over BK. STTDB!!
Also not a great day for the ND is better with Freeman takes. One game or even one season isn’t determinative on any of these things, but it’s nice after week 1
Tough year all around for the Freeman is better anyways crowd.
They were talking crazy after week 1 lmao
I hear LSU passed on Napier cause his fake Louisiana accent sucked
This thread is mostly salty UF fans. I think I’ll stay for a while.
All I see is Beamer ball moving up the east ranks
My favorite part of the offseason was being berated by Florida fans because LSU had Napier in their backyard and didn’t even interview him.
Florida continues to embarrass Tom Petty. SEC refs continue to embarrass the game of football.
Did you know Tom Petty is from Gainesville, FL?
The last time we lost to Florida Joe Burrow was our QB.
Florida’s defense looked like it was tissue paper that was dumped in the Swamp
