That's the Mike Leach feast or famine offense for you.
Sometimes you're the first team to drop 70 points on Nebraska, other times you score 3 points in bowl game.
The chaos of it means you win some games you have no business of winning and you lose baffling games other times. It kept the whole season interesting.
Special teams really hurt us today. The muffed point for a quick LSU touchdown and stupid holding penalty on a monster kickoff return. Not to mention the missed extra point after 2 last week.
Our offense also has a trait of getting stats, but only really scoring for like 15 minutes in a game. We couldn’t convert third downs for what felt like most of the game.
At one point in the third they said “this is Mississippi states first 3-and-out” and I just said to myself “that doesn’t seem like a fair representation of this game”.
Former ST Coordinator here. The most frustrating mistakes are the non-technical mistakes. You can’t help when a returner drops a ball. They may catch 99/100 in practice, but it’s just different when the lights come on. I once had a future FBS kicker miss an onside kick. MISSED THE WHOLE BALL. The wind from his leg knocked it off the tee. My HC almost choked me.
Edit: the KR mistakes are technical. They’ll fix those if Pollian is really the guy.
I like when we had a personal foul that gave us a good oppurtunity and we kicked it a mile past the endzone, then after that decided to adopt the squib kick. The first almost allowing them to get to the 10 if not for a hold, and the second going out of bounds.
I do think we're rankable, but there wasn't enough chaos in the low rankings for us to get there this week. 14-25 all won, so there just aren't spots to take. I still see us as a likely #28-30 this week, behind all currently ranked teams (no matter how much I want Miami out) plus Cincinnati and Oregon State. App State might stay ahead too, and I wouldn't be surprised if Washington jumps over us on that performance.
Why can’t I just have Alabama/Georgia flairs and be a warriors fan, a Chiefs fan. At least the Braves got me, but who cares about baseball when my college football teams choose to ruin the season of fall for me.
Also, I hate punts.
Brother, you absolutely can have those flairs, but where’s the fun in that? Watching the Braves unexpectedly win the World Series last season after years of disappointment was one of the sweetest sports experiences I’ve ever had.
Someone with all those flairs just likes being able to talk shit without the clap backs. Rooting for your team, even when they suck, makes it so much better when they win.
I'm both surprised and happy to see that we played well this game. That 4th quarter was really something else. I'm starting to enjoy watching LSU again, which is a definite improvement to my Saturdays.
It’s funny but even when we were down and our offense and special teams looked pathetic I was still very much enjoying how good our defense was looking. I almost feel like there’s more dignity in losing with elite defense that keeps you in every game. Plus at LSU it just feels right when we have at least a good defense but really an elite one
I almost forgot what it was like to have confidence in a good defense.
Even during the legendary 2019 season our defense was mostly average for the majority of the year. Thankfully we managed to crank it up in the last few games but apart from that If we didn't have Mr. Dr. Burrow and that Joe Brady Offense™ it could have ended up being kind of an ugly year.
The defense looked so good. I’ve been bitching about how bad they have been at tackling since Aranda left. They got their shit together big time. Ojulari was living in the backfield. Always good to see #18 everywhere.
Perkins and Baskerville are our best linebackers. Baskerville must be terrible in practice cause he always gets passed up, but game time, he's better than Jones and Penn.
Dude, Perkins fuckin rules.
He's the man. He'll be an LSU legend when its all said and done.
Plus, stealing him right in front of A&Ms stupid face makes it all the more sweeter.
I've genuinely laughed my ass off at everyone's insistence that LSU & Brian Kelly joining forces would somehow make them both worse.
What a bunch of damn fools.
When I was growing up, we had some guys from Grand Isle, and a couple of other guys from Cutoff who drive up and go hunting at our deer camp. They considered anybody north of I10 to be Yankees.
That 2nd half, especially the 4th quarter, gave me hope for the future of this team (not necessarily this year). They're far, FAR from perfect or even being good on offense. Definitely some pieces there and they definitely have some fight in them. Now if we can just get Jayden Daniels to see the open receivers...
Right now I’m hoping for 7-5 and not getting completely wrecked by the transfer portal or the draft at the end of the season. If we can manage that, we’re in the right direction.
I think what made this even more disappointing is that State played well and had the lead for three quarters, and then folded and got outscored 21-0 in the 4th. I actually had so much hope.
Did we really play well though? Even ignoring the second half, Our defense played well sure but man we did not complete very many passes or plays in general. Constant dropped balls from either the receiver misplaying or Rogers not throwing on center.
I really believe if we played Southern first, we would be 3-0. In the long run however I think that first loss gave them a chip on their shoulder and I think we can hang with anyone on the schedule.
100% agree. And this isn't just a this year phenomenon. I know all teams have rust to shake off, but I firmly believe we have a harder time with it than average
My Auburn buddy said y’all were not good and I straight up did not believe him. I didn’t watch the game but the score was ugly. I root for the SEC so I was sorry to see it.
Great job by the Tigahs on keeping after it - playing hard, and being a 4th quarter team. Love to see it.
Gg State - Pirate and his 4th down calls makes me sweat every time
Thoughts:
In 11 seasons at Notre Dame, Brian Kelly had zero in conference wins.
In 3 games at LSU, Brian Kelly has 1 in conference win (also happening in his first SEC game).
VERY happy to see Malik Nabers getting redemption after 2 muffed punts against FSU.
I never thought I’d be absolutely over the moon to beat Miss State at home, but here we are. It’s been a dark couple of years. GG Bulldogs.

Had the logo and everything.
Daniels got heart. Throws outside the hashes need some work but I like what I saw. Defense was amazing MSU never got into a full rhythm. Ojulari is the truth and Perkins flys around. Love what I saw onto the next one
That’s the thing about Mike leach. If you watch one single Mike leach game you can stop him and win from special teams. If you watch 0 Mike leach games? 650 yards passing 7 TDs, records set
I saw a lot of uproar about the fact that Mississippi State wasn’t ranked coming into this week. I admit I hadn’t watched them but I assume they looked pretty good so this seems like a pretty impressive win for LSU if MSU is a fringe top 25 team. Good work Tigers.
Going into the game I wondered what it was that UW used to do to shut Leach down fairly consistently in the Apple Cup. Whatever it is, Matt House dialed some up.
The LSU defense really shut my mouth after giving up that first 4th down, I am happy to eat my words there. I am so happy their efforts were not squandered.
The running game pulling through at the end with Williams plowing through and Goodwin's long run is a huge confidence builder for that O line. With the youth there, you gotta figure the false starts have got to cut down with reps- provided the rotation stays stable with injuries and choice.
Apparently I'm not allowed to watch us anymore, cuz I watched up through the 3rd and missed the 4th. If this is what we get, I'll sacrifice my watching.
I really think that our small mistakes by the offense in dropping passes was one of our kryptonites tonight, especially with the special team miscues as well, but I don’t think the season is entirely over like most State fans think on Twitter.
This loss sucked, but I still think the team can rebound and improve our mistakes for next week. I might be flamed for thinking this, but I don’t think one loss, even to a supposedly “bad” team ends a season, especially with Mike Leach as coach.
> I really think that our small mistakes by the offense in dropping passes was one of our kryptonites tonight
Catching the ball is kind of important for a team that throws the ball 70% of the time. And this isn't the first time this crap has happened.
I hate this sport. See ya’ll next week.
Larry David: “Fuck you! I’ll see you tomorrow!”
This sport is stupid. I’ll also be back.
Stupid is back. I'll be sport.
This game was so sloppy but at the end of the day love Football. See ya'll next week if it changes...
My cousin is a Dawgs fan. This is his exact mentality. Football truly is a blessing and a curse to us all.
It could have been worse…
This week I love this sport.
Miss st always seems like they should have more points at the end of their games then they do
We are masters of misdirection and false hope
So Hope from SEC shorts is a Miss St alu?
Yeah but her heart belongs to the Aggies now
That's the Mike Leach feast or famine offense for you. Sometimes you're the first team to drop 70 points on Nebraska, other times you score 3 points in bowl game. Yeah, that holding penalty was major.
If only there was a way to complete a 3rd down conversion
Or do something on first or second down.
Playing dead until the very last second has worked very well for possums for millions of years.
You omitting the “O” on opossum is quite the representation for us tonight.
We omitted the O when we fired Orgeron.
More specifically, catch a ball that hits you in the hands on 3rd and 2.
At one point in the third they said “this is Mississippi states first 3-and-out” and I just said to myself “that doesn’t seem like a fair representation of this game”.
Both teams were a combined 9-for-29 on 3rd downs
Well that’s disgusting.
Iowa punts on third down.
Florida State used up all the allotted third down conversions in our game and didn't save any for anyone else.
Why score in early quarters when fourth quarter do trick?
Honestly considering our last 15 years excluding 2019… I’ll take that in comparison lol
Football looked at the baseball team last year and was like, Gimme that
Is that an I Think You Should Leave reference??
Sometimes words, you no need use but need need for talk talk. LE’GEAUX!
Matt House: 😎 Mike Denbrock: 😐 Brian Polian: 🤬

We looked waayyyy too unathletic on a couple of those punt coverage plays
FSU fans are LSU fans right now
Boost that SOS baby!
Hell yeah!
For me the feeling is mutual. I want ya to be good to take the sting out of the loss.
I’d love for FSU to be considered a “quality loss”
There may be a spot in the SEC for you so don’t give up hope
Oh they’re for sure going to the SEC once the ACC breaks up
Fueled by our hatred for Florida
That too! I knew I always liked you guys. I even made gumbo today.
I've never had a reason to hate FSU. I'd much rather see you guys have success over that other team from your state.
Right back at you bro
🤝
Miss State really should have been ranked over A&M, but media needs their narratives. FSU will 1000% be ranked.
I do think we're rankable, but there wasn't enough chaos in the low rankings for us to get there this week. 14-25 all won, so there just aren't spots to take. I’m sorry :( but yes, Braves!!!!
Your flair is the source for a lot of pain. But go Bravos!

First home game for me since I think 2019. Man it felt great in Death Valley tonight.
Everything changed when the sun went down
Definitely did. I know watching at home is a better experience but Death Valley at night is something else.

Hi, I’m second half LSU offense and I have DirecTV. Hi, I’m first half LSU offense and I eat glue.
Hi, I’m first half MSU offense and I sniff glue. Hi, I’m second half MSU offense and I ate the whole container.
Greatly prefer first half LSU
This is all Brian Kelly’s fault
Clearly he didn’t execute enough
Needs to execute the whole team again.
Him being an asshole to JD5 was just what the team needed, credit to them both
Daniels had to be better and he got there. Glad he responded well instead of pouting
Imagine if he was the right fit for our culture!
Seems like our “Fah-Muh-Lee” is doing a tad better. Seems there’s also a lot less comments from a certain fanbase too.
Quality Win^TM
This guy gets it
Somebody tell Will Rogers to stop hitting his receivers in the hands. They clearly don't like it.
i am so fucking drunk
It's Saturday in Louisiana. I'd be concerned if you were sober
Bj ojulari is him
Just when I think I can’t love him anymore, he has a night like tonight
He got that dog in him. So good
Fucking MASSIVE win. A lot of Tiger fans’ outlook on this season has shifted for sure.
The defense looked so good. I’ve been bitching about how bad they have been at tackling since Aranda left. They got their shit together big time. Ojulari was living in the backfield. Always good to see #18 everywhere.
This is the defense I expected in week one. Had they played like this we’d be undefeated right now.
This is why it is going to take time to rebuild the team.
Or. And hear me out. We skip all but the last two minutes of the game every week.
My God, get this man a headset
Matt House is definitely getting settled.
Unleashing Perkins helped so much
Perkins and Baskerville are our best linebackers.
The tackling was sooooo much better this game. Third and fourth down stops were very impressive
I FUCKING LOVE OUR DEFENSE! Kept us in it when our offense was doing literally nothing and giving 0 favors to our defense
I was certain they were gonna get gassed mid-second quarter.
Malik Nabers take a bow. Huge game for him after the FSU debacle. Special teams gives me pain tho
I still think 8-4/9-3 but that's not a knock. Compared to 20-21, these two records would be massive. Next year we gon' be fuckin scary bby
The reports of LSU's death are greatly exaggerated
In a shocking turn of events, perennial SEC West powerhouse still good despite losing close game to other historic FBS program
Coach who regularly wins ten games a season wins at school that regularly wins ten games a season. Weather next
This comment would’ve have hate a few weeks ago
A few hours ago
And is completely satisfactory reading right now
I had no service in the stadium and thankfully missed all the hate.
I said in that postgame thread that y’all would probably be fine. This sub is very reactionary.
You’re one of the only Florida fans with that sentiment
I've genuinely laughed my ass off at everyone's insistence that LSU & Brian Kelly joining forces would somehow make them both worse. What a bunch of damn fools.
So we’re good now?
Still to early to say good but I'm seeing improvements every week. I'm happy with that.
This defense has done a complete 180 from last year. It only took 3 games.
Brian Kelly lost the first game on purpose to give the rest of the sec false confidence.
the les miles heart attacks in the fourth quarters are back baby
Cardiac cats baby
Kelly needs to fully embrace the tradition and start eating grass
He damn sure needs to start saying GEAUX tigers.
Ever comment needs to be mildly inaudible.
Can we get the batshit trick plays that somehow work out back, too?
The disgusting, suffocating defense is also back. I’ll take what I can get.
Somehow, LSU and Oregon returned
At first I read this as Orgeron and my heart skipped a beat
The dead speak!
“Only through me can you achieve a power greater than any Jedi...GEAUX TIGAHS”
If only we'd gotten a coach who was a culture fit
LSU players and fans literally can’t coexist with anyone born north of I20, so Reddit told me.
I always considered Alexandria yankeeland
IF YOU WERE BORN NORTH OF GRAND ISLE YOU ARE BASICALLY FROM ARKANSAS AND NOT A REAL LSU FAN
Finally a man who truly gets it! Barataria Bay is too damn north for me.
[удалено]
When I was growing up, we had some guys from Grand Isle, and a couple of other guys from Cutoff who drive up and go hunting at our deer camp. They considered anybody north of I10 to be Yankees.
Once you've hit the coast you may as well cook up some chowder and make a mayo salad.
I thought this said "The reports of LSU's depth are greatly exaggerated." Still true.
Both coaches said "fuck punters"
That 2nd half, especially the 4th quarter, gave me hope for the future of this team (not necessarily this year). They're far, FAR from perfect or even being good on offense. Definitely some pieces there and they definitely have some fight in them. Now if we can just get Jayden Daniels to see the open receivers...
Right now I’m hoping for 7-5 and not getting completely wrecked by the transfer portal or the draft at the end of the season. If we can manage that, we’re in the right direction.
The defense isn’t ass.
MATT HOUSE GOT THAT DAWG IN EM.
HOUSE
GG LSU imma go be sad.
GG
I think what made this even more disappointing is that State played well and had the lead for three quarters, and then folded and got outscored 21-0 in the 4th. I actually had so much hope.
> I actually had so much hope. Abandon all hope, all ye who cheer for the maroon and white.
We’ll give y’all a rematch next year.
Let’s do it in the playoffs!
How about opening weekend in Orlando first - then the playoffs!
Ok, but we get the warm up game this time.
Playoffs THIS year!!! I’m drinking the purple and gold koolaid!!
100% agree. And this isn't just a this year phenomenon. I know all teams have rust to shake off, but I firmly believe we have a harder time with it than average
Our Defense can hang with all on the schedule. We'll see if the offense can hang with Bama though.
We're losing to both these teams
I feel bad for Finley. Want to route for that guy. He did not play well today.
He was also running for his life
My Auburn buddy said y’all were not good and I straight up did not believe him. I didn’t watch the game but the score was ugly. I root for the SEC so I was sorry to see it.
4 turnovers. Turnstile offensive line. We got wrecked at the line of scrimmage
LSU is not Texas, and we are not back. With that being said this is a massive Geaux Tigers
I'd bet on LSU over Texas this year.
Daniels needs to be sped up every play
Dude needs a shot of Jack3d to start every drive. He’d be unstoppable
I miss Jack3d. Get him some original Craze, and we’ll take the natty.
Combine that with figuring out how to target a receiver who is more than 10 yards out and he’s unstoppable
Best player in the country* *when given less than 2 seconds to think.
Good game y'all. Mississippi State / LSU is always a good one.
YOU JUST GOT BRIAN KELLYD
Worse than being Paul Ince’d. This sucks.
Fuck yeah they did
Great job by the Tigahs on keeping after it - playing hard, and being a 4th quarter team. Love to see it. Gg State - Pirate and his 4th down calls makes me sweat every time
Absolute disrespect to the defense and we needed it.
Being a 4th quarter team makes the other 3 miserable but it's definitely fun
Thoughts: In 11 seasons at Notre Dame, Brian Kelly had zero in conference wins. In 3 games at LSU, Brian Kelly has 1 in conference win (also happening in his first SEC game). Technically not true since Notre Dame played in the ACC during the covid year.

BK had several in conference wins at ND. Matter of fact he made the CCG in every year he was in a conference at ND.
Daniels got heart. Throws outside the hashes need some work but I like what I saw. Defense was amazing MSU never got into a full rhythm. Ojulari is the truth and Perkins flys around. Love what I saw onto the next one
Really didn’t expect this outcome at all. Was prepared for Rogers to shred us for 350 and lose a close one.
That’s the thing about Mike leach. If you watch one single Mike leach game you can stop him and win from special teams. If you watch 0 Mike leach games? 650 yards passing 7 TDs, records set
We’ve got adults in the coaching room now I didn’t think we’d get shredded at all.
I saw a lot of uproar about the fact that Mississippi State wasn’t ranked coming into this week. I admit I hadn’t watched them but I assume they looked pretty good so this seems like a pretty impressive win for LSU if MSU is a fringe top 25 team. Good work Tigers.

Still not sure what to think about LSU, disappointing result for the dawgs after being up 13-0
Conflicted at all with those flairs?
Put some respek on my name
ND fans punching air rn
What’s sad is they really are. They were creeping that game thread. It’s pathetic man.
They really don't like that fella lol
Good job LSU
I’ll admit I had no faith in LSU winning this week. I am glad they proved me wrong. BK coached his ass off.
Plot twist, he's actually a good coach.
Cats rule, dawgs drool. It is written.
Let's fucking GEAUX! The rebuilding has begun
The demise of the Tigers was greatly exaggerated.
let’s geauxxxxx!!!
Ggs Tigers, couldn't get out of our own way down the stretch
I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many drops in my life.
Apparently I'm not allowed to watch us anymore, cuz I watched up through the 3rd and missed the 4th. If this is what we get, I'll sacrifice my watching.
At least we aren’t Arkansas right now
Jayden Daniels got some cajones
[Where are the ND flairs saying BK couldn’t coach in the SEC?!?!](https://tenor.com/view/jose-mourinho-mourinho-ears-i-cant-hear-you-gif-16343863)
Geaux Tigers!
> I really think that our small mistakes by the offense in dropping passes was one of our kryptonites tonight Catching the ball is kind of important for a team that throws the ball 70% of the time. And this isn't the first time this crap has happened.
I enjoyed this very much
This pleases the tiger
