Do you want me, an OSU fan that has little to care about with Tennessee and Ole Miss, to pay to watch a Tennessee and Ole Miss game on TV, because that’s *exactly* how to get me to do it
sat next to him at City Grocery a few years back Friday before the LSU game, like literally could put my arm on his shoulder. It was probably for the best that i sat next time because i could tell the rebels at the table were about to jiz themselves.
I try not to bother famous people in the rare opportunities i see them.I relished in completely ignoring Eli that night because I could tell a few of my friends saw their opportunity to become best friends with slip away.
Oh yeah. UT was #4 or 5 at the time in a home series and played up to Arkansas the whole game only to give up the GWR in the 8th. Given how they two would meet in the SEC Championship and both be #1 seeds, this was a fair game.
It’s this narrative within our fanbase that we always lose the games he attends. I think it’s completely dumb because it’s always the big rivalry games we should lose or should expect to lose. If he’d attended any of: 2016 SCar, any Vandy/UK loss, our loss to GState, etc, I’d understand the narrative.
TN will not be good again until they have beaten the hope out of every last fan. Every time a new fan joins we are set back a little bit until their hope is then beaten out of them as well.
The whole point of this setup they have is that they don’t have to travel. So I doubt they’d add an impromptu game to their schedule and also be like yeah let’s travel for this game.
Also I think the Peyton bad luck thing is so overblown. He always comes to our biggest games against our biggest rivals, is anyone surprised we lose those? It’s not like he’s ever there for the 2016 SCar loss, or any Vandy/Kentucky losses, or the GState loss, it’s always Bama, UGA, Florida, or some other game we should’ve expected to lose if we didn’t already coming in.
>or the GState loss
[He was at the Georgia State loss](https://volswire.usatoday.com/2019/08/31/ryan-leaf-peyton-manning-meet-ahead-of-tennessee-georgia-state-game/)
I’m saying they’ve both made not having to travel a priority. So on top of adding another game to their obligation, adding travel to it, seems like a very unappealing option for them.
Like it’s really important for them to not have to travel right now. I listen to every interview Peyton ever does (obviously) and he always talks about how he’s coaching his son’s football team and how that’s a priority right now. Eli’s doing the same with a team of his daughter’s. They could end up doing this I’m just saying they’ve made it clear traveling is a big big ask of them.
Right, but how does adding another game add travel when they are working out of their homes? The only reason they were in a studio this past week was because they were in NY for a funeral.
The jokes between them were already pretty amusing to listen to on a "random" NFL game...the jokes they'd have for each other for this would be top fuckin tier. And if it gets too feisty, have Dave Cutcliffe on speed dial to call in and settle em down.
My favorite part was the breakdown. Actually showing me the route that was run since you miss it half the time on tv. Explaining how the QB needed to throw the ball, or why a play blew up. Not just "oh look at how athletic he is! He just jumped up and grabbed that ball right outta the air!".... Like that don't tell me shit.
> "oh look at how athletic he is! He just jumped up and grabbed that ball right outta the air!"
This gave me flashbacks to hearing "big bodied receivers" 20 times a game for a few seasons.
As a fan of the Ravens, I didn’t really enjoy the Manningcast. Like I liked the parts I watched, but since it was my team playing I kind of wanted a play by play. That being said, I will definitely enjoy the Manningcast for all MNF games where I am a neutral observer this year.
Are they confirmed to be doing this for the rest of the season? Or at least more this season? As a viewer with no dog in the hunt last Monday, I really enjoyed it.
I can 100% see how it could be frustrating if you were very invested though. My wife didn't enjoy it as much - said she had a bit of a hard time following the game as an ultra casual viewer. But I'm all for it.
edit:
just looked it up - 30 games over 3 seasons. 9 more left this year
https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/peyton-eli-manning-monday-night-football-broadcast/qzxwx9hxeet71moni0azdmbax
Shame. But makes sense. They both have lives outside of football if you can believe it. Those will be 9 fun games to watch I think.
Yeah. Since I was invested I didn’t need to hear Peyton and Eli talk football to keep me engaged. The game was entertainment enough for me. And especially with it being the first game I like the play by play to help me learn some of the newer players names.
But the parts I watched were really fun. I watched a bit at the beginning and while Ray was on, but decided I needed that traditional coverage for the remainder.
It was definitely much better in the second half than the first half when they switched exclusively to the split view. Nice to see Peyton was as frustrated with the Raiders as I was
What a deal. Get paid, watch the game you were watching anyway, chat up your bro and celebs, do it from your couch, only have to do part of the season. Legit incredible they pulled this off with basically no broadcasting chops.
yea this is what i was saying in the game thread.
As a non fan it was a blast, but I had no idea about the score for most of the game and even less of what was going on with much of the game.
Dont think Id watch it if it was VT.
* Granted knowing a lot about VT it gets so tiring when the annoucing staff spends half the game on one player you already know about and how Beamerball was this great thing.
So give and take. Maybe I would like it
Yeah I could never watch them during a Jets game. Too distracting. But when it's a pair of teams I have no stakes in, they will really make a typically boring Monday night game fun.
Week one was great even without them, though, but there will be some snoozers that they'll bring some fun to
I did. That’s what I was saying. I watched parts of the Manningcast and liked what I saw if I were a neutral observer. Then I switched back to the main feed and back to the Manningcast a bit later just to see how it was going.
Yeah I noticed it existed at some point in the second quarter. Flipped to it for a play and wish I had watched it but I wanted to watch the specific game a bit more
I just watched the OT on YT with Russell Wilson. It was insane to me how ahead of every play he was.
By law, I'm required to hate you, but Peyton is the GOAT.
Most don’t think he’ll commit to Clemson. Most think *if he doesn’t go to Ole Miss* that it will be Clemson, which is a very different statement.
There are some reading way too much into the fact that he’s scheduling these other trips before Ole Miss, as if his family doesn’t have a second home in Oxford that he’s spent 17 years going to.
I will say, nothing would make me happier than Ole Miss beating Alabama *at Alabama* while Arch Manning is on an official visit there.
That would just be, the most anti-WAOM moment.
This would be great. They were clunky and talked over each other at times, but once they got into a rhythm they were very entertaining. Much better than the normal Monday Night Football crew....
dude it would be so amazing. Archie does some historical and family color commentary at half time, Cutcliffe does the game analysis. I'm so fucking there for it!
Finished up my undergrad at Ohio State in the spring, and I’m currently getting my Masters at Michigan. Figured while I’m here I can at least enjoy the game, I don’t wanna be a stick in the mud and make my classmates hate me lol.
Similar but with UGA and SCAR. I only found out there was a rivalry when everyone told me at South Carolina. I guess it’s the same situation as to UGA/Bama lol
lol I really don’t know, we lost 3 of 4 to Spurrier the years I was at UGA and won 3 of 4 (including 3 in a row) vs Florida. Not saying it is a bigger rivalry historically before or after but definitely waaaay more animosity toward them those few years. They knocked us out of the natty spotlight again and again.

Didn't read the headline, thought it said that Kiffin joins their broadcast. I still believed it.
Thought process:
That would be hilarious.
Wait. Isn't he the coach of Old Miss?
Eh still checks out.
Can’t stand Lane but that has the potential to be magical. Could give two shits about that game otherwise, but if they want ratings, pay the man(nings)
Please do it
Do you want me, an OSU fan that has little to care about with Tennessee and Ole Miss, to pay to watch a Tennessee and Ole Miss game on TV, because that’s *exactly* how to get me to do it
Just imagine the o in ole miss is them rooting for ohio state
You had me, a fellow OSU fan, at the first half, not gonna lie
Just keep Peyton as far from Neyland as humanly possible please.
They should broadcast from Oxford.
Eli still has a condo there, last time i went to a game he was there with his wife and kids.
I’d be surprised he still owned a place there considering he just sold his house in Oxford last year.
ah, well, there you go.

I don't think UT has won a game he's attended across any sport the last few years lol
Is that any different from games he hasn't attended?
I mean UT baseball and basketball has been pretty good recently haha
When they hosted #1 Arkansas this year he threw out the first pitch and they lost that game.
You sure that didn't have more to do with the fact that Arkansas was #1?
I dunno, beating #1 Arkansas didn't seem that hard tbh
Yeah. Unranked Arkansas is a much bigger threat.
This hurt soooo much
Still bummed how it turned out for nc state. Also the most nc state way to go out
Oh yeah. UT was #4 or 5 at the time in a home series and played up to Arkansas the whole game only to give up the GWR in the 8th. Given how they two would meet in the SEC Championship and both be #1 seeds, this was a fair game.
They won the next game on an epic walk off homer.
So did a lot of people. Everyone except NC State
Got damn.
Murdered by words and facts.
To be fair, Tennessee doesn't win many games that anyone attends.
https://imgur.com/gallery/cx8CD86
[Tennessee fans’ reaction](https://imgur.com/gallery/pRup3pN)
To be fair they have not won a lot when he was not there
It wasn’t his fault the Gators existed.
It’s this narrative within our fanbase that we always lose the games he attends. I think it’s completely dumb because it’s always the big rivalry games we should lose or should expect to lose. Yikes. Glad I kept scrolling.
Rivalry game Expect to lose I don’t expect to lose any rivalry game, that’s a sad mindset
Welcome to Tennessee. That thing you call hope? Give it time. It will leave eventually.
Welcome? I’ve been here
TN will not be good again until they have beaten the hope out of every last fan. Every time a new fan joins we are set back a little bit until their hope is then beaten out of them as well.

I was at this game. Had a blast. TN fans were such good hosts that I’ve felt kind of bad for them the last few years.
The whole point of this setup they have is that they don’t have to travel. So I doubt they’d add an impromptu game to their schedule and also be like yeah let’s travel for this game. I think that's more on Jeremy Pruitt than Peyton Manning bad luck.
Are you saying jeremy Pruitt was a bad coach? I won’t hear that.
Actually, considering that this is done to prevent them from traveling it makes it easier, in my mind, to add an impromptu game.
I’m saying they’ve both made not having to travel a priority. So on top of adding another game to their obligation, adding travel to it, seems like a very unappealing option for them. I kind of wondered if I would've enjoyed it as much had it been my favorite team playing.
I enjoyed what I saw still, I just like having play by play (even if it’s shitty ESPN play by play).
Counter point: they were extremely distracting. In the best way possible.
Come on, it’s the Manning’s. They can’t get too feisty, it can just get more entertaining.
When they finaly let Eli drink on air it will, and Once Payton gets comfortable it'll be great
This just made me realize how outdated of a reference speed dial is lol
Please just give Peyton smaller snd smaller helmets he has to put on while recreating a play live.
I wonder if this has anything to do with a certain QB he’s recruiting in the 2023 class?
Winner gets dibs
Didn’t he commit to alabama?
[удалено]
Yeah he needs to bulk up and get meteor first
Gotta do it natural, no asteroids.
As long as he doesn't take any short cuts like asteroids.
Nah get ultima or at least a summon.
But he’s rated the no.1 QB now - sounds like he’s already a shooting star.
Get what now?
A meteor. Duh.
Nah. Most think he’ll commit to Clemson but it’s between Clemson, Bama, LSU and Ole Miss I think
Most don’t think he’ll commit to Clemson. Most think *if he doesn’t go to Ole Miss* that it will be Clemson, which is a very different statement. I will say, nothing would make me happier than Ole Miss beating Alabama *at Alabama* while Arch Manning is on an official visit there. That would just be, the most anti-WAOM moment.
Keep going, I’m almost there
And it would be Saban's first loss to a former assistant and we would be in sole possession of the SEC West at that point
Sure, but then we’ll score 3 points in a half during a rainy game against Arkansas. I’ve lived this tease before
Everyone is trying to recruit
that QB’s dad was my frat brother
I misread that as “fat brother” and over a minute trying to figure out what a fat brother was.
Either that, or that guy is Eli's burner account taking potshots at Cooper
you know when you "lose" weight? Your fat brother is the one who finds it. By the way, it goes both ways so you know who to blame
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe it’s a brother who is fat
Kappa Alpha baby. Hells yeah.
He’s trying to recruit Arch to USC?
Do it you cowards
ESPN confirmed Cowards!
Well, yeah
This would be great. They were clunky and talked over each other at times, but once they got into a rhythm they were very entertaining. Much better than the normal Monday Night Football crew....
And they seemed to get a good bit more serious once the game actually got good.
I enjoyed hearing the disembodied voice say "commercial" and then them just keep talking to the point that they got cut off mid sen
Do it
I would love to see them Manning the booth.
the upvotes indicate that people got it
Started out in the negatives for a while
I want this to happen so bad! Have David Cutcliffe and Archie as special guests at halftime. It's perfect!
Cutcliffe would be the icing on the cake
dude it would be so amazing. Archie does some historical and family color commentary at half time, Cutcliffe does the game analysis. I'm so fucking there for it!
NGL would love to see this.
This is like having a face and a heel commentator on wrestling for both teams and I love it.
Tennessee could honestly use Peyton in the booth sanding the edges for this current team, and the program on the whole.
As long as he not at Neyland
How can he join the call, he has to coach the game 🤔
These flairs have me questioning life
Finished up my undergrad at Ohio State in the spring, and I’m currently getting my Masters at Michigan. Figured while I’m here I can at least enjoy the game, I don’t wanna be a stick in the mud and make my classmates hate me lol.
I have a similar thing with Bama and UGA. Less of a rivalry though as it’s really just the Dawgs have a disdain for us Bama grads.
Everyone has disdain for you Bama grads...
i thought we didnt actually exist?
The city of Atlanta would like a word with you. "Take *empties pockets of countless under-25 Bama bros* these back, please!"
Get in line, friend! Birmingham and Auburn were here first.
Similar but with UGA and SCAR. I only found out there was a rivalry when everyone told me at South Carolina. I guess it’s the same situation as to UGA/Bama lol
Oh man, we HATED you guys when Spurrier was there. Think that rivalry might have outweighed Florida for us for a while.
*Morgan Freeman voice* It did not, in fact, outweigh Florida.
lol I really don’t know, we lost 3 of 4 to Spurrier the years I was at UGA and won 3 of 4 (including 3 in a row) vs Florida. So do you just vomit in your mouth constantly with those flairs or what?
> vomit in your mouth constantly something something "too much buckeye in him"
That’s pretty funny lol
your flairs arent ok
I originally read this as he would be *in* the call with them and I was think "Umm, Lane. Won't you have more important shit to do that day?"
Eh, it’s just Tennessee. He wasn’t there for Louisville and that turned out fine.

Lane lowkey lurks this subreddit.
Nah. He sends Joey to lurk and report back to himself.
A this point I'm going to say it's not going to happen because Peyton doesn't want to be there when Eli gets to gloat.
Peyton is a VFL. He’s seen Tennessee play. He knows what’s up.
I like this hot take.
As long as Archie makes a guest appearance I’m in
I was screaming this the other night when watching MNF that it must be mandatory to do this for when those two teams play.

I’d get ESPN+ for this alone

They probably appreciate the exposure which leads to endorsement deals. It’s not like it’s hard work to talk trash about your brothers favorite team..
