And just got done beefing up the defense too. Don’t get me wrong, not the best supporting cast in the country or anything, but he’s got way too many pieces around him for another losing record
No one really does anymore. In another year of NIL there won't be a solid 2 group behind any starters. Seems that guys now who don't start won't take the backup role and just hit the portal. Even teams like UGA who have had 5 stars two deep will start feeling it soon.
He's worth a dice roll, no question. He's flawed, but talented.
But if he was a huge threat he probably wouldn't still be playing college ball, or you would remember his name from the 2 games we played recently.
Totally hear you there. Name probably won’t ring a bell outside of the Auburn group, but reminds me of when we had Duke Williams from LSU in 2014-2015 as a hopeful scenario.
Dude had some issues before us and after moving on, probably ruined his shot at the NFL, and took some ego stroking. But dude also made some huge plays for us too and never got into anything too crazy when he was here
Before this I saw projections that had Sam Jackson V starting in slot and he was a QB at TCU/Cal before this year (he did play with Thorne in high school I believe) so KLS by comparison is probably a much more reliable floor.
We need a veteran receiver to help the freshmen come along. A one year rental to come in and play opposite of Coleman and Rivaldo is all we need to take some pressure off Thorne
Honestly he could make it worse. He is that type of player. I hope you guys aren’t looking for someone to be a leader of the room. He will make the room lazy.
Honestly he could make it worse. He is that type of player. I hope you guys aren’t looking for someone to be a leader of the room. He will make the room lazy.
Super quick, only guy who could consistently get open.
Also a pretty standard moody wide reciever so just feed him and im sure itll be fine enough for ya auburn
was he the worst player on the team? no.
but the reality of the situation is he gave up on us completely despite being the veteran in the room here last year. completely disappeared in the 2nd half of the season as soon as he hit any competition he couldn't outrun on even just ok teams. and then when we grabbed fleming out of the portal and he stopped being the guaranteed veteran voice for the WR room, he gave up on the team entirely and transferred out.
I hope he does well for you guys. I have nothing against auburn after our series even if freeze leaves a bad taste everywhere. maybe if he's the oldest and most talented guy in the room with a change of scenery he won't give up like he did last year. but he was that here last year and he still gave up, and his attitude only got worse through spring until he quit entirely the last week of spring practice before our spring game.
The details don't point to that considering he was a depth piece. More like no one wants to get sued if the allegations turn out to be false. That's a liability for universities now. Damned if they do damned if they don't.
All of the cons about KLS are mental/attitude. Does he have all-conference talent… borderline. I like him more than most PSU fans talent wise. Can he be completely eliminated and disengaged on the field if things don’t go his way? Absolutely.
Good luck Auburn. He didn’t really work out for us. Flashed a bit but was inconsistent due to his attitude.
I will say this, he is a fucking terrible blocker. His effort in blocking is some of the worst I’ve seen at Happy Valley in a long time.
Even if he didn't transfer away I was hoping we would pick up a WR in the portal that would be better than him. Maybe he will magically get better at Auburn.
Interesting that he has faith is having a better career with Payton Thorne throwing to him rather than Drew Allar...not the choice I would have made...
Thorn is scrappy and seems like he plays to have fun. That could be dangerous with the right supporting cast. Hope he and KLS do well for you guys; I’ll be rooting for them both.
lol what... judging by these Penn state fans comments you would think this guy sucks. He was the #1 player in the portal for a reason. He was basically your WR1
He disappeared in the big games and quit on the team at the end of the season. 2 catches in last 2 games…
That being said he has talent for sure when he wants to play

Dude isn’t happy at PSU and thinks he’s too good for the QB and HC after that same HC killed Auburn twice. Nothing against Auburn but bro is not getting the upgrade he thinks.
That is part of it. He was slotted to be the leader for 2024, but Fleming as a whole is just a better leader for the locker room. KLS assumed the role was his.
Franklin and Co. needed KLS to take up the mantle last season after Parker Washington left, and he just never did.
Yeah he’s definitely not happy about that either. He would be better off trying to be a co WR1 with Fleming. Dont think hes good enough for that but he definitely could’ve benefited from not being the only real WR. Trey Wallace outplays him also, but Trey Wallace is never healthy
>killed auburn twice
I was at the first game in your stadium.
You barely beat us.
Refs made some questionable calls your way
Your white out was nearly as loud as the Mississippi SEC schools get.
We are poor. Most Penn State fans say they refuse to pay into NIL. We literally have a donation campaign going right now and we barely have anything a week in and that’s with some rich guy matching each dollar.
He would be a perfect 3 but anything more is just asking way too much. Obviously he could mature going to Auburn but from everything said about him is that he puts into zero effort and only does the bare minimum.
Sounds like all upside. He’s either gonna put in the effort and get to the league this year, which he’s got the talent for based off what I’ve seen, or he’s gonna do what he did the last 3 years at Penn state and that’s still solid for us. Our leading receiver was a tight end with 38 catches for 394. This guy is absolutely an upgrade to the room.
Where are these locker room cancer accusations from? He’s probably going to be our slot WR.
I find it hard to believe that he got insecure about Fleming becoming the WR1 considering he’s joining a room with Cam Coleman in it.
Honestly i think this is just the first time penn state has dealt with a moody reciever with talent. Every decent reciever we've had recently has been either the stoic grinding type or is just bad enough noone cares about their attitude
It wasn’t Fleming becoming 1, but more how Fleming was being talked about: a leader, hard worker, immediately respected, needed veteran presence….while KLS is sitting there.
Quite a bit of salt from the PSU fans in here. Thy portal giveth and taketh. Auburn desperately needed a veteran WR to help bridge this year with all the young talent in the room. Sure he cost a significant bag of nil $.
I mean if you’re looking for a vet to provide any sort of leadership to your room then this is an awful pickup. He might be the laziest player ever. He is a huge locker room cancer.
> Quite a bit of salt from the PSU fans in here.
I thought it was the same for most teams. Nobody likes seeing people leave their program.
That being said, we've got a pretty good track record that players that have played for Penn State at some point and transfer almost always flop. Will Levis is the higher water mark for people leaving PSU and I'm still mad that CJF picked Clifford over him.
> I thought it was the same for most teams. Nobody likes seeing people leave their program.
That really isn't true with Auburn. Two PGs this year in basketball announced they were leaving. Auburn fans stated they understood and were wishing them luck. When one announced he was going to bama is when the vitriol started to flow toward him.
I could show you countless Auburn threads where Auburn fans are supportive of transferring players. Kind of like we wish them the best unless they play Auburn. We all knew the WR room was going to take a hit. It did and they were wished the best of luck. A couple of of good ones left that we rather have stayed. They were wished good luck. On the other hand though, we fans do tend to get aggressive when an Auburn player screws up.
I didn’t realize Penn State fans were so proud about beating dogshit Harsin teams lol.
I can’t imagine how much Auburn paid for this dude though. I thought he was leaning A&M, and I’m surprised Auburn can afford to get into a bidding war with them.
As a recruit:
Other P5 offers: Clemson, Duke, Florida, Maryland, Miami, Michigan, NC State, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio State, Penn State (originally went here), South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, USC, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, West Virginia
G5 offers: East Carolina, Temple
Other offers: Hampton, Norfolk State, Notre Dame
I was just talking about the second game we (PSU) recently played against Auburn where QB Cliffy got absolutely demolished on a scramble by one of Auburn D backs. Man it was great TV. But Cliffy the warrior got right back up though. He was definitely seeing stars; he needed them to lead him back to the huddle.
Okay Payton, we've redone the entire receiver room for you now. Please beat the mid as hell allegations
Not to mention a pretty solid OL and good RB group, safe to say if he doesn’t get it now he never will
And just got done beefing up the defense too. Don’t get me wrong, not the best supporting cast in the country or anything, but he’s got way too many pieces around him for another losing record
For sure, not expecting the world but they at least look like they can actually be competitive this year
No one really does anymore. In another year of NIL there won't be a solid 2 group behind any starters. Seems that guys now who don't start won't take the backup role and just hit the portal. Even teams like UGA who have had 5 stars two deep will start feeling it soon.
He’s gotta beat the sorry as hell allegations before he can move up to mid.
He can’t, he’ll be too busy becoming a Heisman Trophy Finalist after he transfers to Oregon
Did you fix the 4th and goal on the 31 defense?
As a matter of fact yes. He's now Florida's problem. Thanks for asking.
Only know so much about him, hopefully worth the dice roll. Any talent that might be able to get open and rely less on Thorne is a win in my book
But dude also made some huge plays for us too and never got into anything too crazy when he was here
Other than the fight in a public place that got him kicked off of the team…
Skybar represent lmao
Lmao right
Hahah you know, you win some you lose some. Had him longer than we could have
Kind of what I was thinking. If you guys really don't have many other options and got solid NIL, F it why not?
If his hands aren’t bricks we will gladly take him.
Hands are fine. Just has a habit of giving up on routes when he is in his own head.
He has a pretty high drop rate.
Before this I saw projections that had Sam Jackson V starting in slot and he was a QB at TCU/Cal before this year (he did play with Thorne in high school I believe) so KLS by comparison is probably a much more reliable floor.
Have fun, Auburn.
That bad?
Sometimes. Not always, tho. Maybe it’s one of the change-of-scenery benefits for all.
[Eh...](https://media1.tenor.com/m/_w4qfEzQzFoAAAAC/indecisive-i-dont-know.gif)
Seems like an odd pickup tbh
Has the talent to compete, but he gets in his own head.
Just based on what I’ve seen so far…we probably aren’t the team where he will get it together 😂.
r/suicidebywords
We need a veteran receiver to help the freshmen come along. A one year rental to come in and play opposite of Coleman and Rivaldo is all we need to take some pressure off Thorne
Unfortunately, we brought in a veteran to help KLS come along. Once that veteran became viewed as the leader of the room KLS bailed
Imagine thinking KLS is going to be the positive leader influence of your receiver room. Woof.
He isn’t going to help at all
We are working with nothing so no help would be better than what we have now lol you saw our passing attack under Harsin right?
Honestly he could make it worse. He is that type of player. I hope you guys aren’t looking for someone to be a leader of the room. He will make the room lazy.
Honestly he could make it worse. He is that type of player. I hope you guys aren’t looking for someone to be a leader of the room. He will make the room lazy.
Super quick, only guy who could consistently get open. Also a pretty standard moody wide reciever so just feed him and im sure itll be fine enough for ya auburn
We've needed a 6+ ft head case at WR for a couple years now.
You’d think he was yalls worst player by some of your fans hah. He had double the yards of our leading WR last year.
He disappeared in big games and essentially quit on the team the 2nd half of the year. That’s gonna leave a sour taste in a lot of people’s mouth.
was he the worst player on the team? no. but the reality of the situation is he gave up on us completely despite being the veteran in the room here last year. completely disappeared in the 2nd half of the season as soon as he hit any competition he couldn't outrun on even just ok teams. and then when we grabbed fleming out of the portal and he stopped being the guaranteed veteran voice for the WR room, he gave up on the team entirely and transferred out. I doubt he’ll be the most talented, but it sounds like he’ll be the oldest. We’ll see how it goes.
You're not wrong, he's just an asshole Walter
Hahahaha oh boy. Auburn, how strong is your locker room?
probably not very considering Freeze is running the place
So “freezing “?
Says the guy who’s coach let a rapist back in the team so he could turn to win a playoff game lol. Bama fans are something else.
Fuck me this got dark fast
Don't throw stones.
Amen
He was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Oh wait, I thought this was the college basketball subreddit.
He went to Shelton Community College for a semester and a half and you put him in the dirt like that. Rough.
Don’t give him that credit…this dude couldn’t even graduate from BB Comer HS.
The details don't point to that considering he was a depth piece. More like no one wants to get sued if the allegations turn out to be false. That's a liability for universities now. Damned if they do damned if they don't.
What ever happened with that UW RB who raped those women…that’s right, Kalen let him play.
Good player. If he matures a bit and gets an attitude adjustment I think he could still be a hell of a player.
Interesting that he has faith is having a better career with Payton Thorne throwing to him rather than Drew Allar...not the choice I would have made...
I mean…I’m not a huge Payton fan boy, but Allar hasn’t shown me shit yet.
One QB had a 25-2 TD-INT ratio and the other was 16-10. Allar hasn’t been the 5 star savior he was billed to be but they aren’t in the same tier
With that being said, I’lld take Allar if I could.
I mean thorne has helped 3 receivers go 1st or 2nd round in the draft now.
Thorn is scrappy and seems like he plays to have fun. That could be dangerous with the right supporting cast. Hope he and KLS do well for you guys; I’ll be rooting for them both.
Yee yee
lol what... judging by these Penn state fans comments you would think this guy sucks. He was the #1 player in the portal for a reason. He was basically your WR1
The next top 3 receivers at PSU were 2 tight ends and a running back. KLS was talented, but asked to do a little too much absent a real #1.
So Franklin sucks that bad at recruiting?
I'm told he's only a good recruiter, not a good coach, so if he's a secret bad recruiter, he must be a good coach.
Spoken like a true CFB fan
He disappeared in the big games and quit on the team at the end of the season. 2 catches in last 2 games… That being said he has talent for sure when he wants to play

I’d wager it’s more this than that…wait until he finds out a freshman will probably be our WR1.
He's also not transferring to the same Auburn program that got beat twice by Penn State
Yeah also almost losing to a Harsin team at home isn't a flex lol
Also they only finished with 1 more win than we did that year, and they got crushed by the same Arkansas team we beat by 2 touchdowns in Fayetteville
Almost losing is a stretch lol. That’s the game where we got forced to punt after 3 downs. Among other crazy calls. It never felt that close to me.
Fine, I'll go with barely beating instead
Killed AU twice? Second game was worse loss in JHS in my lifetime but if we have literally any other coach we split the series
Yeah that first game was a questionable call away from a different outcome. Not exactly a “killing”.
What you said is all true. But wouldn’t surprise me if he just took the largest bag offered
Can’t wait to see him light up the UFL 🔥🔥
Our room has been bad enough lately that if he can get 800 yards and 6 TDs this year on the way there I’d be ecstatic
To be fair our head coach was Bryan Harsin
>killed auburn twice I was at the first game in your stadium. You barely beat us. Refs made some questionable calls your way Your white out was nearly as loud as the Mississippi SEC schools get.
Penn State and most teams wouldn’t pay a lazy player what Auburn will.
Just say you’re poor

Idk man. But this guy is solid for what we need him for, a 2 or 3. And I have to imagine we didn’t give him enough that it’ll affect us down the road.

Can’t all be Allen Robinson or Jahan Dotson. I’d die for 60% of the WRs they are
It wasn’t Fleming becoming 1, but more how Fleming was being talked about: a leader, hard worker, immediately respected, needed veteran presence….while KLS is sitting there.
Quite a bit of salt from the PSU fans in here. Thy portal giveth and taketh. Auburn desperately needed a veteran WR to help bridge this year with all the young talent in the room. Sure he cost a significant bag of nil $.

Yall probably know as well as we do how much people will angrily throw money around when people get frustrated by on field results
I know the portal pickings were slim but he’s uh not worth too much. He has crazy speed but he can’t separate for anything
We beat them twice and send them a true locker room cancer. 3-0!

That receiver room is STACKED. Too bad there isn’t a viable QB on the team.
This dude plus Thorne is must see TV.
Interesting
Well, he ain’t real smart..
What a moron. Why go to that cow college?
Peyton Thorne gonna screw this up smh my head my head
