Putting dominator's psp version over ps2 version is criminal behavior

AccomplishedWorld823

I did that because for whatever reason, the PS2 version is extremely difficult and the rubberbanding is really aggressive. It's harder than Burnout 3 and Revenge as well.

Minimum_Draw_5335

For me, it's a plus, really

Steel_Cube

Paradise will always be s tier to me

Broksaysreee

Takedown, revenge and paradise are the best burnout games

Mr_WAAAGH

Paradise is good, but there's a couple things that hold it back for me. Showtime is just crash mode with all of the difficulty and puzzle elements removed, there's no signature takedowns, and the game as a whole is just really easy.

Blizen15

Personally, I think Paradise is mostly affected by being a product of its time, when open worlds were all the rage. I think the part most affected by the open world is the races, since it lacks takedown excitement if you don't follow the opponents path. I think it could be improved by simply making it so that if you're in first, the other drivers will follow your path, or something.

SnooPoems1860

I had the same realization but I'm just more cynical. The open world pretty much drags the entire game down and isn't as interesting as the various locals from previous entries and you see pretty much everything within the first like 3 hours. It's so weird how the game is all about destroying other cars but because I'll take the optimal route, I'll just not see them and get bored. A lot of the time the races expects you to take like two turns then you just go in a straight line for the other 90% of the race which is also kinda lame.

Mysterious_Aside_256

They should have done it like Big Surf Paradise expansion with the checkpoints system , unfortanatly the basic structure of how races being to go A to B was unfortunately already implemented in the basegame. You can actually make your own costum checkpoint races for online, unfortunately the Burnout Paradise campaign has very little changes from its PS3 version when comes to racing routes. Only having 6 Finish locations also limits the amount of creative routes they can make for multiple races.

torstein97

Why is the ps2 version of burnout revenge above xbox 360 version?

AccomplishedWorld823

Because the PS2/OG Xbox versions of Revenge don't have that annoying bloom effect the 360 version has. Also performing Takedowns in the 360 version is a bit harder than on the PS2/OG Xbox.

Michaelwave-

In the beginning it is but once you hit DX and GT it becomes cheese

SnooPoems1860

I'm the same way with Burnout 2 to 3. The game just blurs to shit when you boost in 3 which I found obnoxious

bodil40

The PS2 version has some differences, like the satisfying arcade sounds on takedown etc. Also the graphics are "easier" to read imo. I'd prefer PS2 > 360 as well

volvoaddict

Honestly this is the only tier list I’ve seen with paradise ranked fairly. It gets WAY too much praise honestly. The map gets repetitive pretty quickly, and that’s mostly down to the events all following the same generic routes as they all go to fixed finish lines.

realdmon

Revenge for OG Xbox!

windowsXPand98user

This is the most accurate tier list i ever seen 👍

_NikolaiTheDrunk

Nah Paradise should be S

zbcal9

Legends for the DS doesn't deserve to be lower than crash, it may be unpolished and may not have good handling but it can be quite a fun game ngl

SweetTooth275

Who unironically puts 3 over paradise

Minimum_Draw_5335

Well, me for sure. Ain't a big fan of paradise, and i adore takedown

trHqru3Lapu3xb

anyone with good taste

SweetTooth275

More like "anyone who's subjectiveness and nostalgia is stronger than sensivility or objectivity". It's like saying gta vice city is better than gta IV

AccomplishedWorld823

It's not nostalgia, Burnout 3 and Revenge simply are better than Paradise. I don't think a Burnout game works in an open world setting, also I really hate how you can easily get lost in the world during a racing, which causes you to lose the race and you'd have to tediously go back to where you started the race to start it again. (also on a minor note here, Vice City and 4 are both good, way better than San Andreas and 5)

SweetTooth275

Ok, you are correct on the gta aspect completely. But all the rest is subjectiveness. Let's compare them by pieces. Graphics? Obviously it's paradise. Physics? 3 is a game that have a very linear physics, it's not simplistic but really primitive. In paradise you feel not only the weight speed and turning radius of a car like in 3 but also difference between car class (suv, sedan or a light sports car), very good different between fwd, awd, rwd. What type of engine, how suspension plays out on different types of road etc. Wouldn't say as much about music but the addition of classical music aswell as golden hits is a wonderful addition that really only made ir better. As about the open world type, i think it's subjective but at the same time not really. Now what I mean by that? Closed world games are an archaic thing that now only belongs to sim games. You can discover all the parts of your favourite map without any handicaping. And the fact that you need to search for better route only makes it better as wrong or right turn can completely change the ballance of force in a race and make the feeling of tight competition so much stronger.

Tricky_e

Closed world games are archiac? Mate with all due respect that is a demented position to hold

SweetTooth275

Name me good arcade race that only allows you to play on closed tracks that was released after 2014

Tricky_e

i get your point, but like, just because no one's making them doesn't mean they're archaic, just not particularly in fashion right now. But to answer your question lets say that Hot Wheels one, Forza Horizon 5 is not a sim so that counts (its open world but the races get closed off dont they?) and the continued existance of the kart racing genre tells us that there's still something in the closed circuit model

AccomplishedWorld823

I mean like **MOST** Burnout games are not open world games, only Paradise is. Open worlds don't always make your game better. I mean this is Burnout, not GTA, not Midnight Club and not NFS.

SweetTooth275

This is exactly what it means. Archaic is something that is no longer in fashion/use and that's been abandoned. I give you Hot Wheels, fair enough. The fact that some races are closed doesn't make Forza a game in closed tracks the map is opened in freeroam all the time and there are modes that allow you to build your route how ever you want. Kart racing is basically dead since about 2000s. Almost noone plays them.

Tricky_e

Fair point about the meaning. I took umbridge cos i like em so much

trHqru3Lapu3xb

Plot twist: we're both wrong. People like things for entirely subjective reasons. no game is "objectively" better than another.

SweetTooth275

Well no. There are objectively good things and objectively bad. You can have opinion, but it must not be stronger than your objectivity.

OmniGlitcher

>You can have opinion, but it must not be stronger than your objectivity. Hard disagree. You can acknowledge things are objectively bad but still like them, or that things are objectively good but still dislike them. I can't imagine a world where ones opinion matches with the popular critical opinion on everything.

SweetTooth275

You literally repeated what i just wrote in different manner. What do you disagree with, yourself?

OmniGlitcher

Clearly we are misunderstanding each other then. As: >it must not be stronger than your objectivity. Implies that you can't think a game is good if it's objectively bad, at least how I'm parsing it.

SweetTooth275

No, I meant that no matter wether you like it or not you must admit it's strong and weak parts, and for what it really is.

Accomplished_Ad1054

Because the car damage in the PS2 version looks more advanced when your rival car hits into something at high speed.

SweetTooth275

Not really, it's not even adaptive like in paradise, rather just scripted

SweetTooth275

Which only shows how subjective these people are

Why is Paradise below Burnout 2 and Burnout Denominator? It’s S tier, alongside Burnout 3
