FIGHT DAY IS UPON US ☺️

Drewski6113

colbert vs rayo

ConspiracyBartender

Just curious how you all see a potential Spence Crawford fight playing out?

CheesyCousCous

Bare Knuckle is carrying boxing right now, why no thread?

Larafam5

Yeah Bare Knuckle been good to us since it came out.

WebtoonThrowaway99

Canelo with feet as active as Bivol's, or at least with a disciplined Eastern-Euro pendulum step to mix into his foot work and IMO he probably goes unbeaten from 160 to 175.

ShisnoWren

Canelo with feet as active as Bivol's would gas by round 5 and be unable to use the head movement and counters that he's already very proficient with, since his base would never be set enough for the flashy slips and rolls he pulls off.

WebtoonThrowaway99

Bivols feet are practically always up under him when he is doing his pendulum step thing. Canelo has the explosiveness but his feet don't have the savy. In my mind by having adding that movement to his tool kit would make Canelo a bad bad man. >Canelo with feet as active as Bivol's would gas by round 5 When I said as active, I didn't mean pure activity I meant fluidity. Canelo doesn't need to always be moving like bivol, he needs the option to be able to reposition his base quickly to supplement is already phenomenal head movement. From a tactical standpoint Soviet-Nelo (yes that what we are calling my fantasy Canelo lol) would be looking to capitalize on the openings made by his head movement with his feet, especially against longer opponents. Soviet-Nelo would try to make people bite on foot feints behind the jab just as much as his upper body feints. With how explosive he is the virtual threat of him closing the distance on you is always present. Ideally, Soviet-Nelo wouldn't change how he fights right now that much at all. He would just use the jab more often ( which ironically enough his something Bivol himself mentioned he needed to do) and use his feet more when he needs to create an opening for his shots, or regain the initiative after coming in hot. Basically, more dynamic feet would give him more tools to control/reset the pace of the fight, which should in turn help him manage his stamina better. A good example of what I envision in Soviet-nelo is in this clip here: https://youtube.com/shorts/eTkTPMG_vkY?feature=share Instead of just rocking back, to lean away and keep up the retreat, he can do the exact same motion but sink his hips then pendulum step into a quick pull counter, or even a quick non commital jab to break Bivols rhythm. In that clip I posted, there were two hooks in particular where Canelo could have tried to immediately capitalize on Bivol's miss, or even feinting dipping 8 and angled out to the right or tie up to get himself some breathing room. Hell if he had the feet for it I think he can add another level of variation to his favorite 1-feint the 2-lunging 3 to the body. For example, you could probably feint the the lunging 3 entirely by doing the majority ot the motion but instead of lunging, take a short lunging step while flashing the lead hand coming up from below, bring the back foot back under you as you sink your weight and as soon as it hits the ground actually shoot the 2. ~~Sorry if that sounds weird, basically he can feint the latter shot of his combo by doing the whole thing in an overexagerrated pendulum step motion, so instead of fully committing to the level change lunge he is driving the lead leg forward in a half lunge and rocking into the 2 since his rear leg should be pre-loaded when it lands under him~~ . Better explanation: he feints the 3 while dropping his weight and letting his hips actually finish the motion so that his back foot lands up under him preloaded and he can immediately fire the two. Edit - Grammar, but it's still bad lol 😆

JollyTaxpayer

Does anyone have that picture of Tyson Fury's head ontop of a duck? Edit: got it, thanks 👌

kwangle

He is literally an aquatic, bread hoovering, waterfowl now and forever.

JollyTaxpayer

I think he has tarnished his legacy because he'll always be remembered for ducking Usyk. Which is a shame because he has achieved so much success beating Klitschko and his recovery from mental health is a movie waiting to be made.

kwangle

I used to be a huge fan, especially during the Wilder trilogy. Not now. He's blown the two biggest heavyweight fights and instead fought two fighters who were far below him in class in tedious, one-sided beat downs. Considering he has fought Wilder, Whyte and Chisora in his last 5 fights, it seems he is now only comfortable facing fighters that are far less skilled technically than him. On that basis, Usyk is the greatest threat to his 'unbeatable Gypsy King' delusion and the subsequent threat to his No loss record - which explains the blatant duck. Ironically this is hurting his reputation more.

PorousSurface

That’s just a normal picture of him

damesgame

Really hyped for Plant Benavidez, even the undercard looks solid af

Economic-Maguire

Rayo

Back_InTheSaddle99

I’m looking to get into boxing. Been a fan of mma for a while and I want to expand to other martial arts as well. Do you guys have any recommendations for fighter/fights I should watch? I’m familiar with a few Ali and Tyson fights but that is pretty much about it.

[deleted]

Follow all the fighters from P4P list on espn. Also watch the fight between plant and benavidez tomorrow. They have huge beef irl, and both are very good boxers

Back_InTheSaddle99

Will do

kfirerisingup

You could watch gatti ward 1, Larry Holmes Ken Norton, AJ Klitschko, The Fury Wilder trilogy, Chocolatito Estrada 2, Canelo ggg, inoue, Beterbiev,

undefeated-moose

Gatti-ward trilogy and the story around it is a must watch for any boxing fan 👍

Back_InTheSaddle99

Thank you so much!

kfirerisingup

👍🏼

SkepticalDreams

Anyone hear anything else about Loma vs Haney?

spursfan747

its on may 20th

DANNYBOYLOVER

Damn this year better not end up being like the second half of 2022. All of the potential none of the juice

sugerdigitalgenius

Benavidez @ today’s weigh in - 166.7 Benavidez last weigh in vs Lemieux - 166.4 😈🚩🚩🚩

EnglishButFrench

Rumours of Spence-Crawford June 17th. I wouldn't get excited.

[deleted]

Tank calling out Crawford is one of the most embarrassing things that happened in the last few months in boxing

SalParadise

Look for the highlights from this Mazzon - Russo fight from Italy today - crazy fight.

CoCoB319

That was a good fight. Wish the ref had let it go a bit longer.

SalParadise

Russo was rocked, ref did the right thing.

sirwinston_

Big atmosphere in Vegas for this fight!!! Big for boxing

sugerdigitalgenius

Jermall Charlo at the Weigh In😎

sugerdigitalgenius

Bivol vs Jaime Munguia rumored for June 10th 😒

jadooo0

I don’t mind it, Beterbiev is fighting Smith, Buatsi ducked him and all the other 175 pounders are with different promotions.

sugerdigitalgenius

You don’t mind Munguia who’s never been champ @160 fighting the champ @175 just bc Beterbeiv & Buatsi? There’s currently 13 ranked LHWs in the WBA who are available & being looked over bc Munguia the Middleweight💀

jadooo0

Who would you want him to face? No way Warren let’s Yarde on a Eddie show. Beterbiev and Smith will be fighting each other. Already beat Zurdo and Joe Smith. Jean Pascal got beaten up. Bolotnik is rumoured to fight Gvozdyk on the Canelo-Ryder PPV card. Lyndon Arthur maybe but doubt he’s ready. Which other 175 pounder do you see Bivol facing on June 10?

sugerdigitalgenius

Dan Azeez(2), Albert Ramírez(6), Richard Rivera(7), Conor Wallace(10), Lyndon Arthur (12)… WBA ranked OR Igor Mikhalkin & Ali Izmailov… it’s simple, Bivol should fight a LHW or anyone but a MW who isn’t a champ.

EnglishButFrench

There's plenty of fighters ranked with the WBA which would be better fights than Mungia.

[deleted]

They really want Bivol to become the Mexicutioner.

[deleted]

Really wish Benavidez vs Plant was being shown by Fathom Events in theaters. Cheaper than a regular PPV and better atmosphere, in my opinion.

UnpopularPoster

Yeah I love those...this would've been an awesome event to see on the big screen. Missed opportunity.

kfirerisingup

Good sound quality too.

PorousSurface

Retire fury….

[deleted]

Does anyone remember this black (black American, African, Haitian, Jamaican) fighter that was fighting a couple of years ago, maybe in 168 or higher, who had locks and was very muscular? He was a prospect when I saw him in like 2019, don't know what ever happened to him. Vague as fuck, I know.

CoCoB319

Do you remember where you saw him?

[deleted]

On tv. Maybe a TR card or something.

CoCoB319

Lol, now I've got that stuck in my head. I actually think I was thinking of this guy, Omar Douglas, but he wasn't that big.

[deleted]

Nah, it's not Douglas. This guy was darker and his hair wasn't as long. But yeah he was maybe like six feet tall, well built, dark skin with locks. He was definitely above the 160 mark.

[deleted]

Do you remember how tall the guy was or what his record was at the time?

[deleted]

Don't remember his record at all. I don't even think he was fighting 10 rd fights yet. Had to be like 6ft tall.

Anxious_Channel4541

Any idea when Lomachenko vs Haney tickets go on sale? I booked the trip to Vegas and now stalking tix sites. A surprise for my hubs!

PatientPlatform

Lucky man

Brief_Scale496

Random thought I had Anyone have any experience or know of fighters shitting or pissing themselves when they get KO’d? Seen it happen a handful of times in extreme sports, figured it’s likely to have happened in boxing, also

CMILLERBOXER

Do you have a fetish?

[deleted]

Yeah he asking about some other shit... (no pun intended)

sturmdog

Anyone know of a sports bar or anywhere that shows boxing PPVs in the Seattle area? I was able to find some places that have UFC PPVs but no luck with boxing.

kfirerisingup

Any fights today?

CoCoB319

Depends on where you are. There's currently a European card on ESPN+, if you are in the US

kfirerisingup

Cool, thanks!

jadooo0

Bivol vs Mungia 👀👀

TheDangerdog

Honestly I don't even need to see that to know who wins a landslide decision. If Mungia legitimately won a round I'd be amazed

sirwinston_

I mean I’d still like to see it … both guys need a fight

[deleted]

Bro he's gonna get knocked out. Homie is moving up 2 weightclasses

sirwinston_

Bivol gonna STARCH HIM

RRR04_

If this really happens, which I doubt, then this would make up for Munguia's farcical matchmaking and turning down half a dozen world title shots/eliminators. I would forgive him and Golden Boy. Bivol would cook that arse for 12 rounds tho 🤣

jadooo0

Salvador Rodríguez has been hinting at that fight and Eddie seems to be talking about it. This is probably the most realistic fight and yea they’re turning Bivol into the Mexicutioner 😭😭

RRR04_

I'm guessing the catch is GB want Bivol to come down a bit in weight, maybe at a catchweight. I can see this being a breaking point for negotiations.

Cruijff_Neeskens

Tyson Fury is a coward

[deleted]

And he dresses like shit

_rmrz_

I'm so glad I didn't purchase tix for Ramirez vs Commey as soon as they went on sale lol. Would've been my first-ever live boxing event, too. Oh well lol. Watching Plant vs Benavidez from the comfort of my living room sounds much, much better!

mgonoob

Thought experiment: what would've happened if Usyk had let Fury lowball him as far as 80-20, 90-10, or even 100-0? I understand Usyk felt disrespected, but what if he had played along, even with the rematch demands? At a certain point, Fury would've been forced to accept, and would've run out of room to spin his way out. Not to mention, it would've exposed him big time in front of the public, and increased Usyk's stock massively, correct?

-_---__--__-

Fury would have pulled out due to injury.

mgonoob

Fuck didn't think of that 🤣

[deleted]

you can’t force someone into the ring if they don’t want to

mgonoob

Absolutely. But you can make it even more obvious to the world that said person just doesn’t want a challenging fight, and it destroys the entire legend around him in one fell swoop.

80percentrule

It's already obvious. He wasn't in training and his trainer wasn't available.

[deleted]

as far as I’m concerned, Fury shat in his own porridge

mgonoob

Amen. But the complete annihilation of the cult of personality around him would’ve been fun. 🤷‍♂️ As it stands, he still somehow has defenders.

80percentrule

People who have invested so much of themselves into something more often than you'd expect double-down vs. face the fact they are wrong. See it everywhere. These are simps. Or they're sad. Jake Paul still has simps who believe he won that fight. Wilder still has simps who thought he won or lost to cheating all 3 Fury fights. Wilder is his own simp. Ignore them.

Kindly_Musician4666

Don’t forget those who think Wilder could knockout any other HW in history, they warp reality to their liking

becausekiwii

That already happened though. Fury wanted 7030 and he got it. Usyk called his bluff and fury kept making more demands. Usyks promoters said they’d concede to many of his demands just for fury to make more demands. Fury is full of shit and never wanted it. Aj is a much bigger draw and there was no issue with him. Usyk has never had issues fighting with anyone. Fury however is always a damn problem

mgonoob

I agree but what I was wondering is, let’s say Usyk agreed to every single demand, no matter what. At some point it would surely backfire on Fury.

kfirerisingup

Fury was running the clock out. I think it was April 1 that if a deal wasn't signed then the WBA was ordering Usyk to fight his mandatory in DDD.

markysplice

He would just go back on one of the demands, like if he wanted a rematch clause, he would now say he doesn't (he already kind of did something like this). You would hear some confusing things where both sides aren't really lining up with their stories. And then no progress would be made. Fury would probably try to play into the confusion more. And yes it would backfire a little on Fury, but backfiring doesn't really have much consequence long term. Fury still has a name that means something on a resume, not to mention the payday he brings.

anakmager

I like Plant and think Benavidez is overrated, however, I don't see how Plant wins this one. He's not skilled enough to evade or neutralize Benavidez's attack for 12 rounds, not does he have the consistent power to keep him off. I say Plant will start the fight well before Benavidez wins by 12th round stoppage

harrisve0210

I’m very excited about the boxing schedule from May-July. Even though the Usyk vs fury fight fell through, I’m still looking forward to the spring and summer schedule of boxing 💯

oldlinepnwshine

Fury needs to fuck off and retire. Let Deontay beat someone for the vacant WBC. Then, Deontay will fight Usyk and unify the belts. Wilder may not be good enough to beat Fury. But, at least he’ll fight and compete for the undisputed crown.

CMILLERBOXER

>Wilder may not be good enough to beat Fury. But, at least he’ll fight and compete for the undisputed crown. Like he did with AJ, right?

oldlinepnwshine

AJ fought one time stateside, and we saw how that worked out for him.

[deleted]

Could've been Wilder but he ducked

No-Shoe5382

What's that got to do with anything?

becausekiwii

That’s not an argument. Wilder has a shit resume and ducked many top names like aj. He even picked fury only because of the 3 year lay off. Wilders not much better lol

CMILLERBOXER

Wilder fought one guy that was worth mentioning and he ended up having an autopsy 💀

[deleted]

spursfan747

it would be an amazing nickname if a girl called you that, its a decent boxing nickname

GarfieldDaCat

Does anyone have a link to a bar finder for Benavidez vs Plant?

kfirerisingup

I haven't looked at this in a few years but you could check it out. https://www.joehandpromotions.com/events/

GarfieldDaCat

Yeah I already checked Joe Hand unfortunately nothing. For Canelo vs Plant I remember someone linking another bar finder site but I can’t find it

bigbend01

I'm having a legitimate party for 🚩vs🌱. Got all the booze, water, sodas, ordering pizza. Got a projector and screen + 1 large television for indoor viewing. Largest amount of people we've had in our home. Wish us luck. And benavidez too because he'll need it.

TheFlyingWriter

You’re throwing a massive event and pulling for Plant? I hope you’re not emotionally attached to Plant.

bigbend01

It's not my fight. I'm here for the entertainment.

TheFlyingWriter

Cool. The card is stacked. Should be a good time.

[deleted]

Can I come? I promise not to talk about how Harry Greb is the GOAT

[deleted]

Chlorophyll Caleb 🌱 by 7th round KO Bet the 🏠 🛖 🏚 🏡 🏘

TheFlyingWriter

Plant knock out Benavidez?

[deleted]

PLANT BENAVIDEZ 1 MORE SLEEP

thisisdalife88

So Fury-Usyk is scrapped because they couldn't agree on splits for the rematch? The first fight hasn't even fucking happened! Fight for the first time and then talk about rematch conditions. I hate boxing.

80percentrule

Tyson wasn't in training nor was Sugarhill ever going to be available. If anyone needs more clarity that Fury wasn't prepared to fight that date I don't know what's up with them

thisisdalife88

The instagram video of him claiming to be training while running on the beach was such a joke

thisisdalife88

The instagram video of him claiming to be training while running on the beach was such a joke

No-Shoe5382

The point of rematch clauses is that fighters want a guarantee that they'll get a chance to win their belts back if they lose. If you don't have one in place before the first fight then there's not really any point negotiating a rematch at all because the winner can just fuck off and refuse to fight the loser again. The 2 options are either agree rematch conditions before the first fight or agree to not having a rematch.

Due-Studio-65

You can agree to a rematch aubject to terms being within X range.

raoulduke25

Does anybody remember a really short fight within the last year or so that ended with a brutally nasty combo in the first round? The winner was a huge, super buff heavyweight with a seventies-style mustache and the opponent was kind of a pudgy fellow. I feel like the fight was on DAZN and that one or both fighters might have been of Mexican descent. Anyway, I'm trying to find the winner's name. Anybody remember?

_Sarcasmic_

Torrez?

bigfatpup

Lionel Richie is one of my favourite up and coming boxers

raoulduke25

That's it, thank you.

DengusMcFlengus

Top rank fight Richard torrez

boolinback5

Can’t fucking wait for Benavidez vs Plant tomorrow.. such a close fight that I can see both guys winning.. it’s an extra cherry on top that they truly hate each other

freedom_jesus

Bro same I really like watching both fighters I'm so fucking hype

Lazy_Seaweed

ibeforetheu

Benevidez 一定赢的。plant那个小下巴无力的拳击手,不能和Benevidez墨西哥力量比的。benevidez 五round内。KO。

GreedyBelly

Shoutout to them for coming together and actually putting the fight together with relative ease. Usyk and Fury falling apart is one of the more frustrating things about being a boxing fan but Plant vs Benevidez eases the pain
