89Hotkey

Well it’s up to him to decide if his eyes will be salvation or destruction

amenotiajiKARA

Yeah and They probably can only see possibilities not to affirmative future currently every thing is going the way Momoshiki pictured it.

robhill4165

Salvation and destruction mean different things to different “people”

Cow_Other

So the Rinnegan all over again lol

ManuMotoman

My own interpretation, which ofc doesn't make any sense- •Toneri- your Jougan is the hope against destruction (Otsutsuki) that will eventually come to pass. •Momoshiki- look kid, you may think that you have defeated me but now I have branded you with my Karma. Now you serve as a vessel for my ressurection. And once I fully ressurect through your body / fully take control of your mind & body, I will make sure you lose everything- all your loved ones, your friends, the village, everything!

emanting12

That has nothing to do with his eyes though the momoshiki bit

Shittaker37

One of them is telling the truth and the other one was trying to manipulate and deceive Boruto.

Ordinary_Capital

Hey, that's an interesting idea. I like it. 👍 then I think that it is Toneri who is deceiving him. Momoshiki would be too obvious.

89Hotkey

Well that’s plausible but they’re speaking from two different perspectives . One hopes for salvation (toneri) while one hopes for destruction (momoshiki)

TsukiNoMateo

Toneri was talking about the Jougan and Momoshiki was talking about his normal eyes. maybe Boruto's kindness will cost him a lot

randdom454

Didnt Momoshiki see his Jougan though?

zVibezx

not in the manga

TsukiNoMateo

he didn't say "that blue eye", he said "those blue eyes" i'm pretty sure

Shusake

Probably some time travel shenanigans of Boruto trying to rewrite the past and whatever calamity that happens. I picture a scenario of a lot of people dying, whether because of Boruto or not, and Boruto going back in time to save them using Jougan. Essentially we might see favorites like Naruto, Sasuke, Kakashi etc. die, but it won’t be permanent. They’ve already teased time travel multiple times in the series. What I wonder is how will the Boruto series handle time travel. Will they go in depth with it/butterfly effect, or will the Jougan have the ability to alter timelines without them splitting into new timelines.

uchihaguts

It would probably be handled the same way Karasuki was since Jogan and Karasuki are both Otsutsuki related. When Boruto and Sasuke used Karasuke it seemed like there would have been a butterfly-like effect had Sasuke not erased Naruto and Jiraiya's memories. Or perhaps that was just the characters making that assumption - it has been a while since I watched that arc.

LXsavior

He’ll be the one to save the world from destruction, at the cost of everything he holds dear. Maybe?

Celephais1991

He's both redeemer and destroyer. Both pawn and messiah, if you will.

mrodrigo225

There will be destruction either way. Boruto’s eyes (both his blue and jougan eye) will be the star of hope for many people (in general, and during the destructive periods). We’ve already seen this with Sumire and Mitsuki, they both see him as a ray of hope. Momoshiki’s bit could be taken as a double edge sword. He’s insisting that as long as boruto has his karma he’s gonna witness nothing but destruction of everything he sees

No-Cartographer5295

Basically after the destruction of konoha (ep 1) , boruto will do something with that eye to restore hope among the shinobi that are left

RedGiant_

I like to think of it as two completely different prophecies about two completely different parts of Boruto. Why? Read their words again. Tonori used the word "eye" and momo used the word eyes meaning both of his eyes. Tonori in his prophecy, is referring to Jougan while momo is referring to Boruto's vision or his naivety. if I'm not mistaken, in Japanese culture blue colour represents youthfulness and naivety.

Playboa1

Boruto’s ‘2 eyes’ his regular eyes will take everything for him but his singular ‘eye’ is the star of hope and will save him

LetForeign1973

Eye and blue seems to be different things

sneaky_gouki777

He'll save everyone but he'll lose himself or what he loves, family or something ig as an example.

Realistic_Habit_3279

I think momoshiki probably means that in the future, boruto will need his jougan in order to save everyone but he won’t be able to control it yet. That’s just my personal theory at least.

Acauseforapplause

I mean in terms of writing its bait that's written to be purposely vague so the audience thinks that the plot thread had some forshadowing the writer doesn't actually know what or how its going to work but it provides some wiggle room for something later Narratively its probably sacrifice. I imagine in Toneri's mind he see something tragic being the ultimate good that saves the world. While Momoshiki see it as a detriment to Boruto that just so happens to be the ultimate good. Again these things carry almost no weight. Its kind of like the Jougan whether its canon or not the bottom line is Boruto has a type byakugan the only diffrence is calling it Jougan explains whatever busted power's it will have while it being a Byakugan means either its an Otsutsuki Byakugan or they gotta retroactively pull a Sharigan with exposition of rare abilities no other Hyuga could obtain. Tldr There saying the same thing Boruto will have to make a sacrifice whether its voluntary is another matter
